Do I have to know how to pose? - No

Can I bring a friend? - Absolutely.

Can I bring my pet? - Yep.

We will work together to come up with the best session experience for you. Each session date includes two locations. Studio sessions and on-location sessions available. Studio sessions are great to get a traditional headshot (CLASSIC), do creative sports photos, or to do editorial shots. Finkanie Photography is NOT a natural light photographer, okay…I have lights, and I know how to use them! I know how to do lots of creative editing, so whatever your vision, let’s do this thing! There is no one-size-fits-all approach, and your session will be catered to you and your vision.

One of the best views I've ever seen in my life is this picture of the Sleeping Bear Dunes in MI. For years, I've seen these shots and thought about how good the photographer was in editing the color. They didn't have to. That is the real color from my phone unedited.

While this area is rich in nature with so many things to see, I focused on visiting TEXSOM award winning wineries in the Leelanua Peninsula on a recent trip.

Tumblr fam, have you made it out to ArtPrize yet?? This is my first year participating in the international art competition as an artist! September 13th was the first day of the magical event, and it was SO.MUCH.FUN!!

Here's some need-to-know info about my ArtPrize entry including where to see it and how to vote for it!

🐝 When: September 13-28th.

🐝 Where: My entry, titled Glistening Quiet, can be viewed in-person at Speciation Cellars in Eastown, Grand Rapids, Michigan throughout the duration of the competition.

🐝 Voting: You must place your first vote within the ArtPrize boundary in Grand Rapids. After that, you'll be able to vote one time per entry per day. My entry ID is 68802! Voting begins on September 13th and ends on the 26th.

🐝 Limited Edition Prints: Glistening Quiet is available as a limited edition 8x12 print in addition to my actual entry piece, which is also available for purchase. Prints can be purchased on Etsy.

a little bit of cottage-core

With every month's spotlight this year, I'm going to paint a little word picture of a comfy fairytale cottage. I'll set the stage, adding more detail to this picturesque cottage lifestyle through each photo. My hope is that you will imagine right alongside me. And, in the comments, I would LOVE for you to play along! Tell me what your cottage looks like, what the property looks like, what you'd change about mine, ANYTHING!! (4/12) Oh man, this is a hard one! But...I think my cozy cottage definitely has some water streaming out from the pond. In fact, my little white cottage with thatched roofing has a small gentle flow of water running along the back edge of its property, separating the cottage's land from a beautiful meadow. Along the stream's edges are yellow wildflowers and tall green grasses where the Canadian Geese tend to nest.

At TEXSOM, I was exposed to the concept of Wine battleship. It's helped me look at more aspects when I examine wines based on perspective. 

This is a striking picture of a battleship. When I look at this, it reminds me of two things: sheer power and the board game I sucked at as a kid. Both are based on perspective. Seeing a battleship up close gives you a perspective on the size and power of these great ships. Playing the game gave me perspective on how to be analytical. TEXSOM reminded me of something as I've been visiting wineries. That's not to play wine battleship. That is, not to look at the sheer size or dive into detailed analytics but to see the entire picture.
