Double-Tuna Dared and Merchanged

Commissions Open I have a Ko-Fi Social Medias Characters (Sakura Izumi, Cynthia Chuseio) © @CentaurWorks Sakura and Cynthia were dared by their friends to see how long they could last before they turned into their merform. Cynthia happily agreed and dragged Sakura into it. At first, they thought they were lucky, feeling like they were resisting the magic for a few seconds. Until they were caught off guard and transformed while standing. The two began frantically waving their arms, Sakrua looking embarrassed by the change and how she can't use any magic to keep her from falling face first, while Cynthia thought they might have had more time before changing. Either way, one way or another, they're going to fully soaked by the ocean. While looking at H2O gifs on Tumblr (there is or was an account that kept posting gifs from the show), I ended up getting the idea from seeing something similar from one of the earlier episodes in season 1. It's a fun scene and I wanted to put Cynthia and Sakura in that scenario. It was nice getting kinda down how the magic change looks for the two, sure it might alter again but I do really like how this came out with the decaying spiral and the magic rim. It was also a really good idea to have the merform and the swimsuits on a different folder layer. Almost forget to do the flapping arms effect since this piece was on and off for a few weeks, but it helped so much with them trying to frantically keep standing.

So this is my stance on the topic.

There have been Peter Pan/Neverland adaptations where Tinkerbell wasn’t even included, she’s just not that important to the story and then she’s not a human so they could’ve easily redesigned her completely and gave her a more unrealistic skin tone and or animal features and it wouldn’t have matter logically.

Now with that being said as long as Disney has been around there isn’t that much representation for the little poc girls especially black girls every deserves that representation, to see themselves in a favorite/magically/heroic character and quite frankly there’s plenty of main characters in the Disney universe the young white kids have to look up to. Even then the O.G versions of the Blue fairy,Tinkerbell and Ariel aren’t going anywhere.

However I will say that instead of swapping characters to black I wish they’d focus on and expand the stories of black characters already in existence which leads into my real point.

Tinker bell has a token black friend in Iridessa

(Tinkerbell got her own show at one point that showcased a diverse friend group of fairies with different magical powers, Tinker bell being a “Tinker fairy” that specializes in building things using materials around the forest)

I feel like making Tinkerbell black and acting like Iridessa and company just never existed is wild. It just solidifies that’ll we’ll probably never see her again in future projects when if anything we could’ve gotten an Easter Egg of her friend group or some type of updated doin off

Love how tumblr has its own folk stories. Yeah the God of Arepo we’ve all heard the story and we all still cry about it. Yeah that one about the woman locked up for centuries finally getting free. That one about the witch who would marry anyone who could get her house key from her cat and it’s revealed she IS the cat after the narrator befriends the cat.

What If: Cynthia's Vampirism Removed

Commissions Open I have a Ko-Fi Social Medias Character (Cynthia Chuseio) © @CentaurWorks What If Cynthia lost her Vampire side? Because her Vampire side it also her human side, she would lose the majority of features and benefits of a human form. In a way, becoming a more fishlike merfolk. She needs water much more often, struggles to speak outside of water and drying up more easily with her scale skin. If Cynthia is lucky, a life a large body of water awaits her. I had this idea for almost a decade thanks to a story I did with my friend Roseprincess1 but never really got around to it. But doing these annual "What Ifs" made it resurface a few times so I wanted to do this as the idea. The design in my head shifted from time to time but settled on this. Wanted to give something akin to gills but having that splash of red felt needed to help balance all of the blue while keeping some elements of her regular self.I ended up having her in a sort of closet, like she was trying to hide, regreted and is now asking for help as the door is being closed on her.

On that Cynthia Erivo situation. No the edited poster isn't AI. It was edited by a Wicked fan on TikTok video. The reason for the red lipstick is because the edit was done to look exactly like the Broadway Wicked poster. Cynthia Erivo mistook this as the fan trying to erase her face when the video showed that it was to see if the movie poster could be made to look similar to the Broadway poster for fun.

I figured that was the intent of the edit, but it’s one of those things where

1)Hearing a (darkskinned) Black woman play as the Wicked Witch was already a questionable choice that I already know they aren’t going to handle well

2)I don’t trust nonblack people to give her bright red lips. Like if anything, did no one question why they probably gave her green lips as opposed to red to begin with?

3)They already using ai to edit over the posters. They used AI to attempt to erase Halle Bailey from the Little Mermaid movie. I don’t blame Cynthia for assuming this was also AI

Either way Twitter is being racist over it, so as far as I’m concerned none of these people are getting benefit of doubt from me
