Decided to make Pokémon teams for the Splatoon idols because i was bored.

Also these teams aren't meant to be competitive, they are just trying to capture what the character is all about and who they are.

Callie's team.

Tinkaton because it's a cute pink Pokémon with a giant ass melee weapon, it fits Callie perfectly, Charizard because Callie represented team Red (and yes it can mega evolve too into either X or Y depending on how Callie is feeling), Milotic because it represents Callie's beauty, Heracross because of Callie's childhood days of bug catching, Malamar due to it's hypnotic abilities (I wonder what i could be talking about here...) and Callie's darker traits, and Ninetails because Marie traded her a Vulpix. I went with the Alolan version because of type variety and it's fairy too.

Marie's team.

The first two picks should be obvious on why they are here, Venusaur and Blastoise because Marie represented team Green in Japan and team Blue in the west (Venusaur can mega evolve and Blastoise can Gigantamax depending on the rules of the match), Inteleon due to it's sniping skills and it's based on a spy. The New Squidbeak Splatoon are meant to be undercover so i think it fits. Noctowl because Marie was on team Night Owl, Palossand because Marie was on team Sandcastle and Dragapult because it shoots out Dreepys at supersonic speeds much like how Marie fires insanely fast shots.

Pearl's team.

Pearl's team was by far the hardest to come up with for me but i managed to get some picks. Gholdengo because it's a Pokémon made out of coins and as we know, Pearl is RICHHHHHHH!!!!!! Exploud because it's a loud sound Pokemon that yells, much like what Pearl does with her Princess Canon, Armarouge because Pearl was on team Knight and to better protect her wizard wife Marina, Toxtricity due to it's connections to punk rock and Pearl's early days. Noivern because it's yet another sound Pokemon, and finally Celesteela because it's a large flying Pokemon and Pearl is known to have a plane, plus it connects to Pearl's space theme in her more recent appearances.

Marina's team.

All of Marina's choices stem from her love of machinery, electronics and technology. Of course she was gonna pack her team with steel, electric and psychic types, she loves them!! Porygon-z was included too because it's a Pokemon that's made out of programming that became unstable, similar to Marina's creation of Overlorder.

Shiver's team.

Shiver would obviously have a Sharpedo, duh, no shit, Gyarados because it's a ferocious water type that Shiver would probably love, Meowscarada because Shiver picked team Grass and it's her favourite type, and speaking of grass, I picked Roserade and Tsareena because they are grass types that i thought matched Shiver's vibes. And finally... Garchomp, i wonder why i picked the land SHARK!!!!!!!!!!! And yes, it can mega evolve too.

Frye's team.

Skeledirge because Frye picked team Fire and it seems to be her favourite type, Darmanitan because it's a fire type that matches Frye's personality, Cinderace because it's a fire bunny and guess what team Frye picked in the Springfest, Seviper and Eelektross to represent Frye's clan which has a large focus on eel taming. And Gouging Fire because it's a fire dragon Pokémon that has a regal look to it and it reminds me of that one Sunken Scroll entry showing Frye or someone else in a fancy outfit.

Big Man's team.

Mantine because it's a manta ray, guess who is also a manta ray.... Quaquaval because Big Man picked team Water, Scizor because Big Man chose team Scissors in the first Splatfest of Splatoon 3, Ursaluna because of the SpringFest (plus i think it's funny to have a bear Pokémon in one of Deep Cut's teams), Dusknoir because of Big Man's pick in Splatoween, plus Dusknoir is stated to help guide spirits back to their homes and Big Man said in the Splatfest dialogue that he wants to help ghosts. And Snorlax because i think it fits Big Man, i could see them chilling out in a grassy field somewhere.

tbh, I don't hate Lulu anymore (now when I say that I dislike her, I only mean it in a joking sense), and while I did find Anessa pretty lukewarm at best with my first impressions, she did grow on me and I usually take her and Malroth (and a Sabre Cub) when I venture to the Explorers Shores. Of course I really do like Rosie and Babs from the start :P

Also fond of these Pokemon as well. Sylveon's my second favourite Eeveelution and it's ALWAYS the Eeveelution I evolve my Eevee into in Pokemon X. Floragato is my favourite: middle starter evolution, starter Pokemon, and grass type (despite all of my Sprigatito and Meowscarada art + talk, though I love all three stages of weed cat). I've always liked Scorbunny since its reveal and I found out the starter evolutions on the day of SWSH's release and it solidified my choice to pick Scorbunny, and I find Cinderace to be pretty cool (love its signature move's animation, shame they nerfed the Pyro Ball animation in gen 9). While I initially thought its design was odd, Vaporeon eventually grew on me a lot and now it's my third favourite Eeveelution (plus I adore its shiny, it's like a giant gummy), it's usually my go to water type whenever I don't pick the region's water starter.

anyway im just gonna go ham with this list

cyndaquil — heartgold is my favorite gen, and the second game i ever played after platinum! i fell in love with cyndaquil at first sight (and quilava is my favorite second-stage starter too) so he holds a special place in my heart for being my first favorite starter <3

litten — he’s a FIRE CAT do i need to say more. when i found out they were making the fire starter a cat mon i went feral. fire is often my default starter type so i was really happy when sun & moon came out, especially bc litten and torracat are so cute 🥺🥺🥺 incineroar took me a while longer to get used to but he grew on me LOL

mudkip — i really love the mudkip line, mudkip and marshtomp are so cute and their water/ground typing makes them really strong <3 i’ve only played the hoenn remakes so far but i hope to one day give mudkip the journey it deserves in a ruby playthrough!

oshawott — my first water starter 🥹💧 like i said above, i normally choose fire types by default but oshawott was so cute i couldn’t refuse! i really love oshawott a ton, and dewott is my favorite of the second-stage starters after quilava as well <3 i also think the oshawott line has a great moveset and overall they just have good designs!

fennekin — i’ve heard a lot of talk that people don’t like the fennekin line, but i really love their designs, and the psychic dual typing was a pleasant surprise! delphox has really good moves too, so i always enjoy picking her over chespin or froakie in x and y <3

honorable mentions:

scorbunny — oughgogghhgohug,,, ok i’ll be honest i really didn’t care about scorbunny until i watched pokemon journeys and now i would legit kill myself for him he’s so FUCKING cute 🥺🥺🥺 i also really love the scorbunny and cinderace designs tbh, raboot not so much but it’s ok because i’ll still love him even if he’s emo. cinderace is also way op honestly, i love pyro kick’s animation, it’s really smooth! and libero is such a broken ability too i want a libero scorbunny 😭

sprigatito — the littlest pet shop -> puss in boots -> furry clown pipeline is absolutely hilarious, i hated meowscarada at first but unironically love him now, his design is kinda trash but he’s my trash <3

My Updated Pokemon Team

Pokemon has been part of my childhood since late 2010. I love the character designs, the art direction, and the narrative. Before going to Miraculous Ladybug and TOH era, one of my old fixations was Pokemon.

These are my parties I've gone through countless battles in Pokemon main games. The relationship I've build with these Pokemon are still fresh and juicy in my mind. Let's be begin my chronological order!

1.) Pokemon FireRed

First of we have Pokemon FireRed, which was one of my first two Pokemon game alongside Emerald. All I remember is that my starter was Charmander and I really enjoyed using Raichu, Nidoking, and Lapras during the playthrough :D

2.) Pokemon Emerald

I played the Emerald version when I was 8 years old, though I didn't understand the concept of Pokemon gameplay at first. Blaziken was over leveled for the rest of the playthrough due to its type combination and I beat Norman's Slaking easily with just my Blaziken.

3.) Pokemon Diamond & Platinum

In Gen 4, I had two version of my Sinnoh team:

My original team in Pokemon Diamond included Staraptor and Lucario. However, my Platinum team needed more spices, so I replaced my Staraptor and Lucario with Togekiss and Weavile respectively to balance out my team composition. Considering Cynthia's battle was goddamn hard :"3

4.) Pokemon HeartGold

I got my start with my Johto chapter in Pokemon HeartGold version because I never actually played a Gen 2 game. :(

But yeah, Espeon was dope when it came to Poison type coverage.

5.) Pokemon White and White 2

Near the end of the in-game storyline, I replaced my Archeops with Braviary for being a badass Normal/Flying type birdie. It took me times to get my Rufflet to fully evolved, but once it did. It was definitely worth it as this Pokemon is pretty good.

I enjoyed Pokemon White 2 over one of the original games because it provided more variations for Pokemon in Unova region and I think my team in B2W2 was much better. Both Lucario and Arcanine were really powerful Pokemon and I had no regrets about capturing them. Apart from Reuniclus, I gotta say it's great.

6.) Pokemon X

My team for Pokemon X was incredible. Okay, for the starter Pokemon I chose was Froakie and after it fully evolved, it was truly a great member of my team. Early on in the game I caught a Fletchling and when it later evolved into Talonflame, it was one of the strongest early bird Pokemon that I've ever owned. Also, the only Pokemon that went Mega evolving was Lucario and it's OP as always.

7.) Pokemon Ultra Sun

For my starter Pokemon in Alola region, I chose Rowlet. It was a pretty last-minute decision because up until I chose it, Litten was originally going to be my starter. But hey, I didn't regret because once it was fully evolved into Decidueye this was easily the best member of my team. Another Pokemon that caught my attention is Alolan Vulpix, which turned into Alolan Ninetales due to its beautiful design. In-battle gameplay? Well, it was decent.

8.) Pokemon Sword

Man, Cinderace turned out to be the strongest out of three starter final evolutions in my opinion, thanks to its diverse moveset. What made me loved Cinderace even further beyond anything was its signature move Pyro Ball. Honestly, this is the coolest move animation I've ever seen in Pokemon Sword and Shield. Toxictricity was surprisingly good tho due to its unique typing.

9.) Pokemon Scarlet

After final evolutions of Paldea starters were leaked, I can't lie I had actually had a mixed opinion with Meowscarada tbh but Sprigatito was still adorable. Tinkaton was a surprise as it took the hearts of fans worldwide. Its design and gameplay were unique and fun.

Ok, I did it.

I bought Violet.

It's Christmas, so I found it a good excuse to.

I'm holding out for Megas since Kalos is RIGHT THERE. (YOU CAN'T IGNORE IT NOW, GAME FREAK!!)

I mainly bought it because of the apparent time travel shenanigans (or the possible lack thereof if the theories are right) and the fact that AI people are confirmed to exist.

I just hope it still "feels" like pokemon despite all the new stuff. I didn't play gen 8 since it was so.... bland? I found it went in a weird direction and originally was afraid of my switch corrupting.

Now, my issue is with the people designs, but I will try to ignore it. At first, I thought the Pokémon were a bit over-designed, but upon closer inspection, they aren't that bad. Whenever I go back to look at them, I think, "You know, it's not as weird as I remember." Ghouldengo looks like it's related to Rotom, though the bag was kinda weird. He's just a funky guy, even though he could speak English and could probably have his own series on CW-Kids (AKA 4-Kids, more specifically Sonic-X). My sister says "string cheese." Otherwise, solid design.

Quaquaval was another one that I thought was weird and had too much going on... until I realized it's based on Festival and knows Brazilian dances. My only problem is it's legs, especially it's feet. Otherwise it just looks like Daffy's Brazillian cousin. Skeledirge sings opera and Meowscarada looks more rabbit than cat in some areas, but I guess it's a bipedal lynx, so that helps.

Personally, I'm wondering if I actually care about humanoid Pokémon, but I think the fact that you don't normally find them in the wild is a big factor. There's this big thing where Pokémon and their trainers look like each other to some extent. I also guess Pokémon always had clothes, it's just Cinderace that looks particularly weird to me. Something about its pants is just a bit too soft for me, at least compared to Lucario, who has shorts as well, but look significantly cooler than fluffy fire-ball bunny. (I don't know, I haven't watched the rest of Journeys yet).

Cetitan is definitely my favorite; it's a Narwhal on land—what's not to love? The only thing I'd change is all the markings, especially the spots on its belly. A lot of new Pokémon are definitely over
