Az egyik mentorálttal, Kováts Zoltánnal beszélgettünk élményeiről.

Mik a karrier céljaid? Mivel szeretnél foglalkozni?

Még egy jó darabig szoftverfejlesztéssel szeretnék foglalkozni, 2-3 évig fejlesztőként minél jobbnak lenni, több tudást összeszedni. Később kipróbálnám magam más fejlesztési ágban is, más programozási nyelvekkel, pozíciókkal is szívesen megismerkednék.

Mit gondolsz miben és milyen mértékben segít, segített az egyetemi képzés a karrier céljaid elérésében?

Egy biztos alapot nyújtott, amin elindulhattam. Hasznos volt a tanult szemlélet is a komplexebb feladatok megoldásban és nem voltak idegenek a programozási struktúrák sem így utána. A gyakorlat azonban sajnos az egyetemen egyáltalán nem olyan hangsúlyos, mint lennie kellene.

Miért jelentkeztél a programunkra?

Természetesen a gyakorlat miatt jelentkeztem. Mindennemű tapasztalat és gyakorlat nélküli fejlesztőként úgy gondoltam, hogy ez egy remek lehetőség, amit nem hagyhatok ki. Egy ismerősömtől hallottam rólatok, aki megerősített abban, hogy jó helyre kerülök.

Voltak-e előzetes elvárásaid, és ha igen, akkor mik?

Főként az, hogy a nagy vállalatoknál használt rendszereket és programozási nyelveket megismerjem és tudjam használni, legyen bennük gyakorlatom.

Hogy érzed sikerült fejlődnöd a program során? Ha volt fejlődés röviden leírnád, hogy miben fejlődtél?

Sokat fejlődtem, a MEP nem csak arról szól, hogy megmutatják, hogyan kell Java-ban programozni. Adatbázis kezelést, keretrendszerek használatát, tiszta kód írást, és még sorolhatnám, hogy mennyi mindent tanultam, amik a gyakorlatban rendkívül hasznosak és fontosak. Az egyetemen nem sokat prezentáltam vagy fejtettem ki a véleményemet, itt azonban a mentorommal a konzultációk során párbeszédeket folytattunk, így a kommunikációs készségeim is fejlődtek és természetesen az önbizalmam is nőt.

Mennyire érezted a mentorodat segítőkésznek a program során?

Szerintem mondhatni baráti kapcsolatot alakítottunk ki. Végig roppant kedves és segítőkész volt az első alkalomtól kezdve. Ami szimpatikus volt, hogy érezhető volt rajta, hogy nem veszi félvállról a mentorálást, ő is készült a konzultációinkra. Ha valamire nem tudta a választ, akkor utána nézett, és nem rázott le, így én is sokkal motiváltabb lettem. Ez a program egyik nagy értéke. A tapasztaltságának is nagy hasznát vettük, főleg a gyakorlati feladatoknál, amikor a saját, valós korábbi megoldásait mesélte el egy-egy problémát illetően.

Hogyan tovább? Mik a terveid a következő időszakban, a karrieredben?

Szívesen kipróbálnék idővel magasabb pozíciókat is, bár biztosan hiányozna azért a programozás.

Kinek ajánlanád elsősorban a programunkat?

Pályakezdő programozóknak mindenképp, de a kicsit tapasztaltabbaknak is abszolút hasznos. Sokat lehet tanulni, rengeteg témában.

Ha pár szóval kellene összefoglalnod, hogy mit kaptál a mentorprogramtól, mik lennének azok?

Ugródeszka, és megfizethetetlen tapasztalat.
