YOUR PERSPECTIVE DETERMINES YOUR RESPONSE TO LIFE As I write this, I am reminded of my determination to celebrate #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth by daily posting pictures and writing posts to create #MentalHealthAwareness. As I reviewed my efforts today, being the 30th day of May – Mental Health Awareness Month – I had to consciously fight the thoughts and feeling that said,’ you said you will post every day, but you did not!’ ‘You didn’t keep to your words…’ and so many unkind but true words. To everyone who has followed the posts so far, I say a huge thank you! And I also apologise for not keeping my words about making it daily. 🔼 For the feelings and thoughts that reminded me of my inconsistency in my #mentalhealthawarenesscampaign, I had to carefully choose the perspective to hold on it. I had to remind myself that the motive of my campaign is to create awareness and help someone out there to see beyond their current circumstance and take proactive measures to manage and pay attention to their mental health. 🔼 So whether it is consistent or not should not be my focus at this point. My focus should be, ‘has anyone being helped by this campaign?’ And just one person is enough to keep me doing the things I do where #mentalhealth is concerned. 🔼 I am grateful for the impact so far. I am grateful for the privilege and the opportunity to be able to do it. I may not know how much it has helped anyone, but I am convinced beyond reasonable doubt that it has. How do I know? I know because the Nigerian woman whose #bipolar story I read in 2004, may never know how her words, “Perfect, yet imperfect because of #bipolardisorder…” helped me to see beyond the limitations of being diagnosed with bipolar disorder to living an intentional life, a full life. So check your perspectives, are they empowering you?
