About 10 years ago, in a wild life park in Jos, Pleatue State, Nigeria. ' Those pants have a size 16 label. One of my fears then, was weight gain management. I had flunctating weight, so I kept my size 12, and 14 clothes close by, just in case....and dreaded the thoughts of buying size 18 clothes😅😅😅 ' 10 years after, married and after 2 children,  I am a size 14. I can do better. I know. But I am #grateful that I no longer deal with flunctating weight. ' What are your #fears? What are your worries? ' Many times, we give our fears the ammunition to grow into full blown worries. FEAR NOT. God will help you. You will overcome. Concerning you, excellent things shall be said. The lines are fallen unto you and I in pleasant places, we have a godly heritage. ' "Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’" Isaiah 41:10  (NKJV) ' Turn your #worries to positive expectations by trusting that God will and can handle it. God loved me when I did not care! . . I think of such love and I shiver with goose bumps! . . Will I be willing to love like him? . . I heard about the suicide that occurred on third main land bridge on Sunday evening and decided that I wasn't going to dwell on it. It can make me sad😢 . . But as I prepare to go to bed, I am reminded that people have different kinds of needs. Some need financial assistance to get through, some emotional assurance from loved ones, some a sense of belonging, some love and acceptance irrespective of how wrong and how far they may have wandered from the path of good. We all need one thing: LOVE. . . We all are searching for relevance. . . What we search for we can obtain of we go to the right source. My Papa God as my big sis @saltmatters7 calls Him, has His arms wild open. He's waiting for you to come to Him. Come as you are. He wants to hug you and love you right. . . Without the God kind of love, our capacity to love as humans, is limited, self-centred and lopsided. . . #WeAllNeedSomeOneToLeanOn #saynotosuicide #suicideprevention #idaretoblossom #Godlovesyou #youarelovedandappreciated #Idareyoutoblossom #youcanblossomagain 🎼@nathanielblow Nathaniel Bassey

As an 8 year old child, my mum would come back from work and ask me on behalf of my fsiblings, “have you all eaten?”  “No, ma”, I would reply, expecting her to pamper us, query the house maid, and rush into the kitchen to fetch us something to eat.  How I wished that was her response to my reply! Rather than deal with the house maid or any other person in the house, she would deal with me! She would ask me “why did you not prepare something? Is there no foodstuff in the house? Haven’t I taught you how to cook this…. “, she would go on and on… the first time I experienced this, I was aghast! I could not believe my ears, as a child, I began to imagine that, perhaps, she wasn’t my real mother after all, if she really was, ‘why would she expect me to do all these tasks, when the house maid could easily have done them?’ That was one experience that taught me early in life, that as the first born daughter of my mother, I needed to stretch and fill in the gaps wherever I found myself irrespective of the people present who seem more qualified than myself. I know I was hard on myself when I was much younger, my childhood was short, because I learnt early in life to take responsibility for myself and my siblings. Responsibility will stretch you beyond what you think you can bear, but in the end you will have a better understanding of what it means to adapt to life's changing circumstances and become a better person each time. When it comes to being mentally fit, taking responsibility for our mental well-being will make us stretch..it will require that we pay attention to how we respond to situations, to the emotions we feel in a day and how we express them. But in the end it will help to nurture a balanced perspective to life. Have you ever taken the time to examine how the river flows? I will be the first person to admit that the life and the seasons of a man cannot be compared to the animals or the ecosystem that man has been created to dominate. Yet, like Solomon, who observed the way of the ant and instructed the sluggard to do the same, we can learn a lot from our environment by observation. 💥 The next time, those defeating thoughts show up - thoughts of failure, thoughts of ‘you are not good enough’, thoughts of frustration, regret, guilt and all those energy-snapping thought, be bold enough and say to yourself, "I am more than these. These do not define me. And like the river that flows effortlessly with the tide, I will flow with the tide of God's thoughts for me. God's thoughts says, I am fearfully and wonderful made, I am the apple of His eyes, His thoughts for me are peaceful...as I focus on these words, I am developing the capacity to be Resilient! 💥 #idaretoblossom #Idareyoutoblossom #psalm139verse13and14 #youcanblossomagain #Godsnotdead #Godiswithyou #Godsgotyoucovered #combatdepressionwithGodsword #CombatDepressionwithscriptures #IamachildofGod #Godseesyou #youarenotalone #mentalillness #mentalfitness #mentallyaware #Youarenotthediagnosis #preciousemodamori #mentalhealth #endthestigma #saynotosuicide #takeittoGodinPrayer #beyondbipolardisorder #bipolar #Faith #Purposedrivenlife (at Lagos, Nigeria)

If you often experience rapid recycling in your moods, you should be more conscious of the words you expose yourself to, your thought processes and your responses. Let Philippians 4: 8 guard your heart. If you do not feel better, please do not hesitate to pay a visit to your #psychiatrists or #physiologists for a review. “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” #idaretoblossom #Idareyoutoblossom #philippians4verse8 #youcanblossomagain #Godsnotdead #Godiswithyou #Godsgotyoucovered #combatdepressionwithGodsword #CombatDepressionwithscriptures #IamachildofGod #Godseesyou #youarenotalone #mentalillness #mentalfitness #mentallyaware #Youarenotthediagnosis #preciousemodamori #mentalhealth #endthestigma #saynotosuicide #takeittoGodinPrayer #beyondbipolardisorder #bipolar #Faith #Purposedrivenlife (at Lagos, Nigeria)

As we go through the month of June and the rest of the year, please, do not lose sight of what is important. Do not let the things that try to steal your #peace rob you of your #joy. Do not give it the permission to scare you into no performance. No matter what happens, always remember, God’s got you covered in the centre of His love. Remember, “…when the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.” - Isaiah 59: 19 Think about that. EROTOMANIA, HYPERSEXUALITY AND BIPOLAR DISORDER || MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH “Erotomania is a type of delusion in which the affected person believes that another person, usually a stranger, high-status or famous person, is in love with him or her… Hypersexuality is extremely frequent or suddenly increased sexual urges or sexual activity.” - educalingo.com A bipolar patient may be attracted to someone and for no reason feel compelled by their desires to stick with that person, but it is the increased libido that comes with manic episodes that triggers hyper sexuality in bipolar patients. It is the responsibility of the support team to identify when this happens and seek immediate intervention. If you think that a person’s sexuality is being influenced by a manic episode, it is wrong to tell them that they are promiscuous. Or use words or imageries that suggest same. If you do so, you are stigmatizing them. SO what can you do? If you are an influence in that person’s life, you can encourage them to stay out of dating and go back to the psychiatrists to review their medication. Also, people who manage bipolar disorder can train themselves to say NO and mean it. I believe that sex outside marriage spoils a good relationship. A relationship held in tact with sex will break down no sooner or later because sex on its own is not the only requirement that makes a happy marriage. Love and mutual respect, good communication and understanding are vital for a good relationship that can lead to marriage. So, please stop giving it out for Free. You are worth more. Choose the person who loves you enough to wait for sex till the wedding night. I made that choice 8 years ago, and every day, I’m thankful to God that I didn’t let hypersexuality ruin my relationship with my finance who is now my spouse. Somehow, I waited. Sex is worth waiting for. OFTEN MISUNDERSTOOD || MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH I believe that being diagnosed with a mental illness is not a license to settle for and stick with the limitations that accompanies the diagnosis. I believe that the life of a bipolar patient should not be truncated because of the diagnosis. Besides taking prescribed mediation, talk therapy, and faith in the loving grace of God, having a teachable heart can help persons living with bipolar to relate with the people around them.  Beyond that, the people who surround a person living with bipolar disorder can also learn to identify and separate the attributes of the diagnosis from the personality of the patient. #curethestigma #mentalhealthmonth #idaretoblossom #mentalhealth #combatdepression #mentalhealthquote #manic #BipolarDisorder #mentalillness #depression #bipolarwarrior #bipolarsurvivor #mentalhealthblogger #MentalHealthinNigeria #MentalHealthAdvocate #mentalhealthadvocacy #IDB #mentalhealthmonth #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthquotes #socialsupport #youarenotalone #mentallyaware #youarenotthedignosis #WeAllNeedSomeOneToLeanOn #EndTheStigma (at Lagos, Nigeria)

COMMON BIPOLAR MYTHS IN NIGERIA || MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH #1That bipolar disorder is just a mood swing thing. #2 That People who live with Bipolar disorder are incapable of having children and that if  they do, the children may have a physical disability. #3 That a psychotic episode of bipolar is a consequence of one’s evil actions. Hummm… did I say 3??? Please permit me to add two more... #4 That a person living with bipolar disorder may be too sensitive emotionally and so can’t make a good spouse. #5 That bipolar disorder and the other forms of mental illness is synonymous with being mad, homeless and naked. . People who live with Bipolar disorder can have a full life. They can learn to manage their emotions, have healthy relationships, get married, have healthy children and live purposeful lives, if they are given a conductive environment to strive - love, support, professional care, medication… A person who isn't mentally aware would describe a mentally ill person who is experiencing a psychosis as being ‘mad’. No my friend, it's not madness. It's psychosis, a loss of consciousness that leads to a distorted view of life. And it didn't happen because the person is being punished for offending the ‘gods’ neither is it a consequence of their sins. It can happen to anyone. Especially, a person who has a predisposition to be mentally ill or succumbs to a nervous breakdown because of intense pressure from a stressful situation. #curethestigma #mentalhealthmonth #idaretoblossom #mentalhealth #combatdepression #mentalhealthquote #manic #BipolarDisorder #mentalillness #depression #mentalhealthblogger #MentalHealthinNigeria #MentalHealthAdvocate #mentalhealthadvocacy #IDB #mentalhealthmonth #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthquotes #socialsupport #youarenotalone #mentallyaware #youarenotthedignosis #WeAllNeedSomeOneToLeanOn #EndTheStigma

Change in Energy Levels || Mental Health Awareness Month With bipolar, the change in energy levels is real. This change in energy levels can affect a person’s ability to function per time. When a person living with bipolar says, ‘I’m tired’, it doesn’t imply that they are lazy. And when they saying, ‘I can do it’ to every offer, it doesn’t imply that they are being a sycophant or a fanatic. They are simply exploring the different energy levels that can accompany a bipolar diagnosis.  If the energy levels are understood, they can be channelled into times of high productivity and times of intense rest from work. When I’m tired I rest. I turn off my phones, shut down my laptop, delegate core duties and obligations, and then, I rest. That’s doesn’t mean that I’m lazy or incompetent in the things I’m called to do. It just makes me a person who understands myself so well and who is educating the people around me to understand me and help me to create an enabling environment for me to blossom. It doesn’t mean that I’m weak, it just means that I’m strong enough to identify when I need help. Strength is available when we seek help from the right source, and ultimately, God is the source of my strength. My help comes from Him. #curethestigma #mentalhealthmonth #idaretoblossom #mentalhealth #combatdepression #mentalhealthquote #manic  #BipolarDisorder #mentalillness #depression #mentalhealthblogger #MentalHealthinNigeria #MentalHealthAdvocate #mentalhealthadvocacy #IDB #mentalhealthmonth #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthquotes #socialsupport #youarenotalone #mentallyaware #youarenotthedignosis #WeAllNeedSomeOneToLeanOn #EndTheStigma (at Lagos, Nigeria)

Love and Acceptance || Mental Health Awareness Month I know that it is not easy to love someone who is mentally ill. But you can try. I can try. We can try. If we try, we can. We can love and accept them regardless of the diagnosis. A smile goes a long way. A phone call goes a long gone way. A hug is huge.
