I don't see enough people mourning over the slow death of physical media. And I don't just mean TV shows, video games, or movies--which don't even get me started about how we don't really 'own' anything anymore. It includes notes, journals, and letters to one another...so much of our history is lost when we lose a password, a website goes down, a file/hardware is corrupted, or a platform disappears. History that doesn't seem important until you no longer have access to it. Physical media does a lot for memory recall. How many memories will we lose because we don't have something tangible to tie it back to? Something to hold in our hands and stir up those memories we thought were once lost? Sometimes I wonder what the difference between burning a book and losing access to physical media is when someone can pull the plug and remove your access so easily.

I'm watching a video on ancient Fanfiction.net drama and the creator is going over all the dumb rules FF.net has that I forgot about (no 2nd person perspective writing, no interactive stories, no explicit 18+ stories, no incorporating song lyrics into your fic, etc, not to mention the systemic problems like the lack of an archival system).

Yeah sky and time's relationship is a whole mess over the master sword

but can we talk about sky and wild's view of the sword

Because it's just a lot of contradictions

Sky loves the sword. Sky loves Fi. Sky openly admits she can hurt them. Sky knows she has best interests at heart. Sky is dying for someone to care about the sword. Sky is pissed that wild broke the sword. Sky still handed her back to him.

Wild loves the sword. The sword tried to kill Wild and he's a little bitter about that. Wild worked to earn the sword. Wild doesn't feel worthy of the sword. Wild breaks the sword. The sword always comes back.

Wild is the only one who openly invites Sky to talk about the sword- how he forged it, and the voice inside. There is a lot of negativity around Wild and the sword. And the sword is a major bonding point with Sky. He's dying for someone to care about her too, but at the end of the day Wild is the one who actually talks to him about her.

we don't see madeleine and claudia in their months together because their happiness was created in the present and presence of each other, and captured only in the eyes of the other. there's no need to share to strangers what was already shared between the people it mattered most to. the voyeurs of the world will only ever see the outline of where pleasure lies.

could you explain the Vegas lore maybe? i know that san was gonna do a video, and got super drunk, and did film it, like he promised the vid and never posted it. i’ve also watched the vegas younow live show. but it seems like there’s more with the mention of money in the post??

ok so. you seem to know the basic background so i'll be quick with that part. basically. dan and phil go to vegas for dan's 21st birthday. like you said they film a vlog there and get super drunk. dan says hey guys we filmed this epic vlog i just gotta edit it and it will be amazeballs.

well. time goes by. no vegas video. the phandom being the phandom, they ask questions. where's the vegas video? dan says do not worry. for it will be edited and posted ~soon~. there was just a LOT of footage to go through and so it would be a lot of work.

does he ever post it? no. therefore, the phandom concludes, there must be a reason. a secret secret reason they don't want to upload it. a rumor that dnp got married in vegas arises because what else would the phandom theorize about. perhaps they were even caught KISSING in vegas. whores!

eventually dnp say that they lost the footage and the vegas video will never grace our screens. however the true story finds itself in the great piece of literature that is The Amazing Book is not on Fire. Essentially, they say that what really happened in vegas was that phil was so good at the slots and made so much money that they were kidnapped by the mafia and had to make a daring escape involving dan attacking the tough guys with taekwondo and phil stealing and driving them away in a helicopter. they also somehow ended up in area 51 on the way out.

obv that's not what actually happened but somehow i wouldn't be surprised if it did.

will we ever find the secret video where dan and phil get married in vegas? the world will never know. but we do know that phil fucking kills it on a slot machine.

Poster: I “worked” with him/ for him for several years before I realized he was a celebrity/ on a major tv show.

I swear he is the most humble, genuine, and respectful man I’ve ever worked with. Probably why I never would have guessed he was famous.

Question: What did you do for him?

Poster: Full disclosure- this was from 2011 to 2012 (ish) so I dont remember the smaller details of our interactions, but anyway…

I worked at a high end “executive car service”. Basically wealthy business people, agents, sports players, etc. would book us for an SUV or town car to take them to meetings, the airport, whatever. We didn’t have limos or party busses or anything, it was strictly for professionals in a professional setting.

Anyway, I had been talking with Jensen usually twice a week for a good 6+ months. I’d book him trips to the airport in Canada and Malibu? I think that’s where the CA side was. All I really knew was he “traveled a lot for work” and his wife and new baby were at home.

I worked with major assholes, which was to be expected. Attorneys assistants especially. They would get fired if they didn’t use the right colored post-it. That kinda crap. So they understandably were always stressed the hell out, which would get taken out on me. Whatever. That’s all part of the game.

But anytime I answered the phone and it was Jensen, I knew at least for those few minutes my job would actually be enjoyable. He’d always ask about ME. How my day was, what the weather in SoCal was like since he’d be on his way there. Small talk, but always SO damn nice. He’d occasionally mention how he’d miss his family during the longer trips or tell me how it’d be a short stay that particular week so he’d be able to get back home to his baby. SO sweet.

One day months later the owner of “my” company called me to ask about the schedule. Mentioned Jensen was to be picked up the following day and she chuckled and asked, “you know who that is, right?” Uhhh, no? Then she told me he was on tv and was traveling to film every week. Based on how humble, soft spoken, and incredibly nice he was, I figured he was just starting out in the business or was kinda an unknown. That’s when my boss told me he was shooting this huge show, he was really famous, etc etc.

I never woulda guessed it in a million years. With celebrities, we always dealt with their agents. Jensen would always pick up the phone and call me himself. He just seemed like a completely normal, humble guy who didn’t let his fame change who he was.

I worked there for another several months and then moved onto a different company, but damn did I miss “working” with him. I always knew there’d be no drama when he called.

To this day I still haven’t seen him in anything (or even a single episode of Supernatural) but I’ll always hold a soft spot for him just based on the way he treated me. I was relentlessly harassed but he was always so, so kind.
