I saw some fanart of Paspa Essiedu as Severus with the canon typical long, straight hair.

(I'm not gonna reblog bc I don't want to send any haters to that person's art) but it exemplifies the reason that I can't trust Hollywood with race swapped characters.

If they do end up casting a black severus snape and he has straight hair.....

It would be like what they did to Jamie Foxx in The Amazing Spiderman 2. They gave that man a comb over. A fucking COMB OVER.

Most people don't know how black hair works, which makes sense, bc most people have never HAD to know. But lemme tell you: It's a lot of fucking work to maintain straight hair as a black person.

Are you telling me Severus Snape goes to the salon every 2 weeks to get a silk press??

He wraps his hair in a satin scarf every night to keep it from kinking up?

Did he get a fucking weave?

Did he get a relaxer?

He owns a straightening iron to do touch ups if his hair gets frizzy?

He refuses to go out in the rain bc it would ruin his hair?

And alright, some of you might say: they're wizards, so maybe there are spells/potions for that. But then I ask why would he use them??? There is simply NO WAY that Severus Snape grew up straightening his hair like that. And are we going to explore the implications of internalized racism and assimilation inherent in charming your hair straight every day?? Especially when that is a hairstyle that black men RARELY have.

The reason why women do it in this world is multi layered: white beauty standards, easy maintenance with a trip to the salon every couple weeks, and internalized beliefs that our hair is unkempt, wily, and too difficult to care for. Some people do just like the style, though.

And which reason, pray tell, would be Severus Snape's???? I would need a whole episode just to explain that choice alone, bc it's just too big a change to his character.

I would hope that Hollywood would have more sense than to give him straight hair, but.... frankly I can't trust them.

My pronouns are she/her, I am Caribbean-American and have brown skin, my hair is naturally really really dark brown but I have reddish brown braids rn. When my hair is straightened (I’ve only straightened it once recently, I don’t like doing it cuz of heat), its like past my shoulders a bit in length. My eyes are really really dark brown as well.

I am 5’4 and on the curvier side, my thighs are on the bigger side with some muscle (I played soccer and danced all while I was younger) so its harder to get bottoms to fit how i want but i make it work :p

Its hard to explain my style but its like a mix of stockholm style, downtown girl, but also pretty simple and minimal. I like lace tops, dark colored jeans, colorful scarfs, linen pants, soft hoodies, low cut tops (I like showing the girls off every now and then :p. I’m a gold jewelry girl but love silver in shoes, clothing, and my bag.

I unfortunately have one of the worst resting faces. Sometimes I look sad (when I’m nott), sometimes I look upset/mad, and sometimes I just have a blank stare. I’ve been told many times from friends and family that they can’t tell what I’m thinking. In reality I have a very silly personality, I like making jokes and being sarcastic here and there but I think this part of me only comes out when I’m comfortable and close with the other person. In general I’m introverted but will usually be the first to start the conversation with another introvert. I’m pretty shy and have never really been approached or approached anyone in a sober setting. I’ve been compared to being most like a bunny or a cat in that sense.

I’m reserved but at the same time love going out with friends. Recently I was working in a group project and when I was in a group project last year, I naturally take on a leader role where I make sure ever is ok but I’m also a bit bossy bc I like getting work done. I admit I can be mean at times but I’m quick to apologize in a group setting. I can get quite annoyed easily but I never let it show unless I want it known I’m annoyed. I’m a big sister. Interests wise…I loveee the beach. Especially the beaches in California (I don’t live here, visited a few years ago) and the Caribbean for the clearer water. I love cats, my favorite domesticated animal. My favorite animal in general are penguins <3. I like music sm you will almost never find me without my airpods or headphones. I go to concerts as often as I can. I like anime, not into kpop in terms of the industry happenings but love the music. thalia was born to a lower class family, where she witnessed her parents work several jobs for years in order to provide her with opportunities for a better future. her mother and father worked tirelessly to ensure that she could get into a private school, only the best for their daughter. one of her most cherished memories is her mother telling her "you're going to do great things, thalia." after one of her teachers commended her on creating an outstanding school project.

thalia considers that phrase to be her life motto; she heard it in her head when she first took an interest in politics, when she was accepted to her first choice university, when she won her first election. it shaped her into the driven, ambitious woman she is today. it reminds her that no matter how many times she fails, she will always get back up and try again. she was destined for greatness, it was written in the stars. so far, the stars hadn't steered her wrong yet.

these words were the last she heard from her mother, months after receiving a terminal prognosis. the disease had been caught too late, any treatment would only extend her life for a matter of months. despite how fate had turned, her mother never let her forget that she was capable of great things, she witnessed it with her very eyes. her mother's smiling face and her hand grasped in thalia's is the last memory she has of her mom, burned into her memory.

it was after her loss that she began looking into extraplanetary prospects, running into new jakarta as she was researching. she had heard the name before, something in her history books about the first settlement on an extraterrestrial planet. from what she could tell, the politics there were booming; the perfect opportunity for a young and upcoming politician. leaving her grief behind with her, she made the decision to move to new jakarta.

MARS

ten years after moving to mars, thalia is a known and established politician on the planet of mars. she's known for her activist views in regards to the relationship between the overseers and the gangs. she largely believes that so long as they limit their activities to petty crimes, the gangs should be left to their devices and the overseers should stay out of it. both before and after she moved she researched the political climate between the overseers and the gangs in new jakarta extensively.

after researching the gangs, reading every piece of information she could get her hands on, she came to the conclusion that from an economical perspective the gangs were too important to get rid of. they were largely what kept the slums from completely going bankrupt, at least in her opinion. they provided sora and mawar with products as well, just maybe less than legal ones. but some things thalia can turn a blind eye to.

thalia also focused her attentions on x academy and hextech, recognizing them as important elements in the economy of new jakarta. even with how new hextech was as a company, thalia could already recognize that this was going to be a game changer once it was available to the general public. furthermore, she could see how the technology could be implemented to benefit upper class society. she's especially interested to see how the politics surrounding hextech might come to be.

she also found herself being invited to high society events after a couple of years as a politician on mars. suddenly she was being invited to galas, art shows, film festivals, charity events. this was new to her, when on earth she sometimes received the odd invitation but now it was a regular occurrence. thalia found herself living a cushy, lofty life that she was only just beginning to grow accustomed to. know that she knew what she was missing out on, she certainly didn't want to lose it.

“What if you’re wrong?” Jayce asked after an indeterminate amount of time had passed.

“It told you. My…vision for lack of a better word indicated—”

“What if it was just—”

“A hallucination?” Viktor asked, affronted, eyes never leaving the Hexcore.

“No. I don’t think you’re—I don’t know. I feel like it’s been weeks since we were both in here, working together.”

Viktor sat back, pushing his goggles into his messy, slightly greasy hair, and looked at his partner. There was something tentative about Jayce now. Unspoken. He looked sad, almost guilty. Viktor swiveled on his stool to face him better, waiting.

“It’s just…you know I never wanted this, right?” Jayce finally said.

“Yes, I do,” Viktor replied.

“All I want is to work here, with you, make the world into something better, maybe go the occasional party. With you.”

“I am not one for parties, Councilor Talis,” Viktor teased lightly, ignoring the tense thread between them that never seemed to break these days. “And you can go make the world something better now. You’re on the council. You’re probably the only good person on the council.”

“Mel—”

“The only one who wants to change the world, then,” Viktor said, waving off whatever defense of Mel Medarda Jayce was about to mount.

“Yeah, well…I miss when it was just us.”

At some point, Jayce had leaned forward far enough that their knees were brushing. If Viktor hadn’t been a dying man, he would have seized the moment. If he hadn’t been a dying man, he would have seized several moments over the past year.

“Jayce,” he said softly, not sure what came after.

Things were progressing well—perhaps too well. What truly concerned her was the pace at which events were unfolding. It wasn’t ideal; in fact, it threatened to destabilize her carefully constructed plans. Mel Medarda had only just awakened to her powers and had already achieved incredible feats. Impressive, yes, but none of it had caught the Matron by surprise. "Ambessa was a minor issue, just the tip of the iceberg," LeBlanc mused, her tone dismissive yet tinged with irritation. "Of course, I wanted her gone—she was a headache and knew far more than she should." She sighed, turning to her companion with a faint smile that didn’t quite reach her golden eyes. "But her daughter?" LeBlanc continued, her voice dropping slightly. "Mel is walking the same path. She’s a weapon—one evolving far too quickly, and if this pace continues, she may spiral out of control. She’s on her way to Noxus as we speak, and I can only assume she intends to rally allies among her mother’s old connections." Her lip curled slightly. If there were any left in the Capital still willing to openly admit allegiance to the late general, they were likely either bold or foolish. LeBlanc leaned back, her expression contemplative. "I trust she will do what she must when the time comes. My only concern is that her recklessness may accelerate matters that have no need to be rushed. Despite her potential, she is not ready—not yet." After a moment, her expression softened, the tension easing from her features. "So, how do you feel about your new body?" she asked, her tone almost casual but tinged with curiosity. "I must admit, I was surprised you were finally willing to leave Shurima to explore other lands." Though Zaun remained on the Shuriman continent, it was a world apart—a city divorced from the sands and traditions of its birthplace. Her gaze flicked briefly to Ambessa's lifeless form before returning to her companion. "As for her," she added with a dismissive wave of her hand, "I have no further use for her. If you and your pack desire..." Her hand gestured slightly, an unspoken invitation to take Ambessa's remains as a feast.

One of the Darkin's ears twitched and their pendant jingled softly. Some things never changed. Shurima and Noxus had one thing in common: The hunger for expansion, the dream of a glorious empire spanning half the globe. And with that, every general, every person in a position of higher power longed to be immortalised. Ambessa had hungered for that too. Immortality in Noxian stories. Immortality in statues and mosaics. Yet she had been inconsequential for LeBlanc and thus the larger scheme of things.

"You could always slow her down", Naafiri remarked, "Just because she is accelerating now, does not mean she won't be forced to a stop. Rip the behind of a fleeing gazelle open or savage its legs and the fleeing animal suddenly runs much slower. The catch is, you have to ensure Mel does not end up limping. After all, a limping gazelle is a dead gazelle. You just need a way to slow her down, which cannot be traced back to you."

Naafiri twisted their head sideways to brush over a few strands of hair, which stood out in the wrong place. Zaun was indeed different from the coarse sands of Shurima. The sweltering heat, which they were so intimately familiar with, had been replaced by a dampness and acidity in the air. It made their pelt itchy and more prone to be found by ticks and other vermin.

They said: "It takes some adjustment. Our main body is still the one we harboured in Shurima. We have just remoulded it into something, which felt more appropriate for this place. We are surprised that the Zaunites seem unimpressed by the presence of greenish dogs running around.

"As for why we finally bothered to explore other grounds: The void can apparently emerge anywhere like it did here with the arcane. Besides it is becoming more and more apparent that my sisters and brothers are not just in Shurima. I must search for them in unfamiliar places instead of trusting that they want to find me. It is unfortunately clear to me that still so many of my kin are obsessed with going it alone."

At the invitation to feast on the fallen general's body, the Darkin lost any pretence of being civilised. With a bestial shriek, the pack pounced upon the dead body. Dozens of salivating jaws snapped and groped for any slice of meat they could find. At first, the pack mates solely were the ones eating, scarfing down as much of the brown meat as they could find. Finally, the main body sauntered over and as if sensing its approach, the rest of the pack parted to give Naafiri access to the innards. The Darkin opened their jaw wider than before, their head shot down and sharp teeth yanked out the liver, ripping open Ambessa's belly with an explosion of blood.

Winx Club Headmasters

I finally got around to doing some of the teachers from the three magic schools.

Faragonda

Lets address the elephant in the room here. YES, I racebent Faragonda. Why? Mostly because of how my fan-cast to voice Faragonda in an ultimate dub of the series is Toks Olagundoye, who you will recognize as the voice of Mrs. Beakley from the 2017 reboot of Ducktales and the voice of Mel Medarda from Arcane. I basically just took the rich old lady from The Aristocats, Madame Adelaide and racebent her. Plus, nothing wrong with a black fairy-godmother figure, as Whitney Houston has proven in Cinderella lol. I REALLY love how she turned out. Her hair was a MAJOR pain to do but I love it. I especially love her fairy form. In my version, once a fairy gets to a certain age, they leave behind their Enchantix and get a form called Ethearix. Besides, we ALL want some older fairies. I did take inspiration from Morgana's fairy form (Since Morgana and all the characters introduced in season 4 onward don't exist in my version). What's Faragonda the fairy of? Quintessence! She basically has power over life-force, lightning, and being able to give life to inanimate objects. Pretty much what it is in W.I.T.C.H. I actually got the idea of her being the fairy of quintessence from my pal @tiredcloudd (Whose stuff you should check out because it's amazing and they are really talented) when we were discussing our own Winx canon on the private Union of War Discord server. So I have them to thank for this. Also, her and Griffin are a couple in my version.

Griffin

I had A LOT of fun with editing for Griffin because I feel like darker characters a lot more fun design-wise. YES, I did use Maleficent for her face but I also gave her the eyes of The Evil Queen from Snow White. I made her the witch of oracle magic. She doesn't really see the figure but can summon vectors of magic and do some powerful magic. I thought of that because of The Owl House and how Griffin was able to play mind games with the Winx Club back in season 1. I took inspiration for her witch form from @taiyoooh.

Griselda

Out of all three of the professors I've redesigned so far, Griselda was definitely the biggest pain in the ass to design, at least for her fairy form. I mean, Griselda seems like someone who wouldn't actually be a fairy. She seems more like she'd be a witch or a sorceress. I made her a mind fairy, because that's one of the few interesting things that Fate: The Winx Saga did. However, she can do offensive attacks as well. I also love the idea of that being her way of knowing whenever someone is up to something. She's the queen of detention for a reason. For her fairy form, I got rid of her glasses and replaces them with glowing eyes. Her hair is full of barrette thingies that look like brains because she is a mind fairy. For her outfit, I took inspiration from Nebula from season 4 but made it more conservative looking. I had to make sure the colors were more subdued compared to other fairy forms because it's Griselda and that also meant NO SPARKLES. Hell, the only makeup I gave her was purple lipstick because she's not the type to wear makeup at all. I love the way she turned out. Also, pants suit her better than a dress. Her fairy form was an absolute NIGHTMARE to work on. You have absolutely NO IDEA! Also, just imagine the voice of Mindy Sterling (Who played Ms. Briggs from iCarly and was the voice of Lin Beifong from The Legend of Korra) coming out of this character. PERFECTION!

Saladin

Well, I finally got around to posting my redesign of the last head of the three major magic school, Headmaster Saladin. He is also the grandfather of Helia (Even though the original show NEVER actually does anything with that) and in my version, I would actually do something with that. Considering in my version of season 2, part of Helia's story arc was gaining his Believix by learning to stop holding back his true potential anymore. Helia was sent to Red Fountain instead of a fairy school like Alfea so that his grandfather could help him. This also means that Saladin is also East Asian, which I wanted to show with his attire, which includes his Sorcerer form. While his regular form is in more Earth-tone colors, his sorcerer outfit does have more color too it with the white, gold, and purple.

Is anyone even surprised at this point?? I love her! Loved her from series one and I support her atrocities actually. She did terrible things and yet... she has fluffy hair and little ears. So who's really the villain here

5. Amena, Britannia

Britannia has so many incredible characters but if I hace to only pick one... she's a bitch, she's a queen, she's playing only for herself. It's my girl ♡

6. Jamie Moriarty, Elementary

If you've seen the show, you shouldn't be suprised. If you haven't... why? I had this plot twist spoiled before I'd even started the show, but even so it hit me like a TRUCK. My only wish is that she'd been in it more, because Nat Dormer manipulating everyone and laughing while she does it? Oh, that's my jam. Also we really deserved more of her literal obsession with Joan because wtf was that?? Fruity. That's what it was. Gay subtext at it's finest

7. Effie Trinket, The Hunger Games

Ah-hah!! Not a villain!! I absolutely adore her and I resent how people see her because only I am correct about my faves. But seriously she gets a bad rep in fandom and it does upset me because she's SUCH a compelling and interesting character. Also Elizabeth Banks was a perfect choice, no notes

8. Morgana Pendragon, BBC Merlin

SHE DESERVED BETTER. Morgana redemption arc 2022. My girl did a lot wrong but I adore her and also she was manipulated a lot early on and maybe if Gaius hadn't convinced Merlin to fuckin LIE TO HER about having magic this WOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED

Without thinking, Vi swirled her hands before her in a circular motion, creating an air shield, and pushed them outward to disperse the fire. The room went silent as the fire disappeared and the wind from the conjured air stilled. Vi returned her hands to rest on her knees and her eyes were wide at her own mistake. "Fuck," she whispered. Golden eyes shimmered, and a smile crept onto the woman's lips. "As I was saying, Miss Lane, we'd like you to come with us.”
