Mini-review:

Few directors have a filmography as eclectic as George Miller. Seriously, his work ranges from action and science-fiction to dark comedy, tearjerking dramas and family movies. And Three Thousand Years of Longing adds yet another genre to that list: epic fantasy romance. That being said, I must admit this film was bit disappointing, considering his previous one (Mad Max: Fury Road) was such a mind-blowing masterpiece. It's not that TTYOL is a bad movie, not at all. It's just that my expectations were sky-high.

The "tales" are easily the best part of the movie. They are a visual marvel, with beautiful cinematography and gorgeous sets and costumes. And the stories are just as interesting as the visuals, too. However, the rest of the film falls kinda flat in comparison. The cinematography in the present day scenes is really bland, and sometimes it feels like you're watching a different movie. Tilda Swinton and Idris Elba are incredibly gifted actors, but they don't really have enough chemistry to sell the movie's final act, which is a bit of a shame. I did enjoy their conversations and all the themes approached in the dialogues, though. So, as you can see, Three Thousand Years of Longing is a bit of a mixed bag, but I enjoyed most of it. It lasts less than two hours, too, so it never gets boring. Overall, it's a pretty solid movie, even if it isn't at the level of Miller's best work.

OC Halloween Challenge 2024 Day Nineteen: Genre Switch

The Adventures Of Pixie Hollow (Tinkerbell) switching from adventue fantasy to horror fantasy. Born from a babies first laugh like every fairy throughout history, Gale, a new fast flying fairy, started off like every fairy before her: excited and full of positive emotions as she tried to do her duties as a fairy who has to bring the seasons to the main land... ...But then she's hit with the harsh reality of a fairies existance when one day, she witnesses a fairy just drop dead mid-way preparing for Autumn. No physical injuries or signs of illness. The fairy simply...just stopped living. Only after witnessing that is she told by the oldest living fast flying fairy, Vidia, another thing about fairies existance: just because they bring the seasons to the main land, doesn't mean the main land thanks them...instead, fairies over time have been dying a-lot due to the kids they connected to from birth stopping believing in them. Terrified at the prospect of dying eventually like that, let alone her friends she made over time dying from that as well, Gale is easily convinced by Vidia and other older surviving fairies to do the one thing that can secure hers and her friends existance: she and her friends must find their connected kids and bring them to Neverland to live there forever like Peter Pan and The Lost Boys and others, ensuring they never stop believing in fairies and therefore, ensuring Gale and her friends don't die.

Dorothy Gale, having just returned home to Kansas, is immediately brought back to Oz, as her friends need her again due to a new enemy: an evil jester.

This is why this was my answer too! There was clearly something between her and Furiosa and I WANTED TO SEE WHERE THEY WERE GOING WITH THAT! Would that have been in the movie either way? Maybe not. BUT NOW WE'LL NEVER KNOW.

What do you feel about Female!Gale?

female Gale? hmmm I think it's interesting... very interesting

I feel like she would be a very sporty and athletic girl, tall and skinny but with a good ass, John still loves it so much

she's shy and doesn't drink, but John follows her around like a damn lost puppy whenever they're out, even when he wants to drink and smoke

basically, female Gale is kinda like Marge, but taller and a little thinner, likes to put herself into the crook of Johns arm and stay there
