Not sure if you've done them already, but what do you think the mistresses of Aegon IV would have worn?

I yes I’ve done some Here! That one includes Sereni, Barba, Bellegere, and Mellisa (plus Naerys) so I’ll do some more here (also idk if I’ll do Jeyne since there just isn’t much to go off on for her)

Falena Stokeworth is the first mistress, the first to make a “man” out of Aegon when he was 14. Since she was ten years older than him, she doesn’t wear the frivolous fashions of the younger ladies, though you can still tell she spends excessively on fine fabrics and intricate lace. I think she always held some bitterness ab what happened at the Maiden’s Day Ball, and always tried to dress as “elegant and unassuming royalty” . Plenty of embroidered bodices, silk overskirts, lace collars, puffy under sleeves, etc etc. She almost looks nouveau riche as she tries to fit in with royalty

Poor Meg dressed in common clothes for most of her life. As a blacksmiths wife, she wore the proper clothing for her station and work. Her hair was covered in a cap, her clothing consisted of an old shift, a kirtle, maybe an extra skirt and her apron. All made of rough wool and homespun cotton. When Aegon took her, she suddenly began to dress like a minor noble’s wife. She enjoyed light, gentle colors that she never got to wear when she was a common woman. She likes to make all of her own dresses too, small pleats and puffs, pretty bows, and slimmer skirts than the average noble woman being fancy enough to suit her taste. Once she got sent back, she probably took them with her but never got to wear them again :(

Cassella Vaith was probably a silly young girl when she was taken as hostage during the submission of Dorne, and thus adapted to Kings Landing nicely and enjoyed life there. She enjoyed the fine silks and brocades that the ladies wore, but also incorporated her own culture into her clothes, with thin cottons and looser fitting fabrics that caught the wind. She liked pink and cream and gold, dressing more like a frivolous princess than anything else, because Aegon gives her whatever she wants. Even after she gets sent back to Vaith she still dresses like a young royal mistress, even into her old age, convinced that Aegon is her true love and will call her back eventually

Bethany was probably not as eye catching as her elder sister, and her status as a younger daughter meant she was not given as fine clothes as Barba did when she was trying to become Aegon’s mistress. However she was pretty and young and fresh faced, and her gowns were still suitable for a noblewoman, though perhaps not the fanciest at court. Essentially all of this was good enough for Aegon in his old age, and her style did not change much at court besides the inclusion of more detailing and more expensive fabrics. Bethany was disgusted by the king, and probably did not put much effort into her appearance for him, but did for Terrence Toyne, and this sudden effort for a kingsguard was probably what got them found out and executed

Drizzt really has to be fucking livid about this. Out of everyone who survived from his past it had to be this asshole. He was the last choice. In Artemis' defense he isn't happy about it either

nothing makes gojo satoru content other than seeing his own family here with him.

like at this moment, his family were just hanging around in the gojo estate garden where it used to be boring but now there's a life into it after marrying you. and you, who has a deep love for gardening stuff, you decided to give the house a makeover.

"these are the water lilies that mama planted when she was pregnant with you." with your son in your embrace, you pointed the different types of plants you personally plant.

satsuri was amazed by the colorful plants while you watched the carbon copy of your husband's blue eyes glisten in awe. your heart melts when you see your son tries to communicate with you with his babbles and hand gestures.

planting a kiss on his fluffy cheeks, you couldn't help but to let out a laugh on how adorable your son is. "ooh. i can't wait for the two of us to plant together! we could fill this whole estate with plants and even flowers!" you squeal.

your son tries to wiggle himself free as he would like to be down for a moment and play with nature, or should you say.

satsuri ran around while satoru, who was casually sitting under the tree, watched his loving wife and his adorable son grab some stones using his small tiny hands and give them to his mother, seemingly asking if he could eat them.

"baby, we cannot eat those." your giggly voice echoes in his ears pleasingly. your baby sensed something that was against his will as his lips formed into a pout and was about to cry when you immediately picked him up to console your poor baby.

"these are rocks." you grabbed the stone on his hand, gently tapping his skin using it. "see? these are hard and sharp too. one stone could hurt you, it could hurt you more if you eat it." you tried to explain it to your son well. sadly, he still didn't buy it.

satsuri let out a wail, tears are also now streaming alongside his face. being a protective mom you are, you immediately console your son while walking towards your husband to also ask for some assistance.

"oh no, my little tough guy is crying. did mama fight you? don't worry, your amazing dad will avenge you." satoru takes his son into his hold, cradling him while giving you a meaningful look.

"hush your trap, why would i even fight my own baby?" you snarl at your husband who was just laughing at your expression. satoru knows you hate it when you're making your child cry. although it is something that you should get used to in order for your child to grow morally, not spoiled.

satoru then looked down at satsuri who was now calm after being cradled in his father's embrace. everytime he would look into his son, he would always say in his mind that they were right — you were right, satsuri is really a carbon copy of him.

the only feature that his son inherited from you is a streak portion of your hair color on the side of satsuri's hair. then the rest, it resembles him.

on the contrary, satoru wished satsuri wouldn't inherit his ignorant, nuisance, troublemaker, and hard headed personality when he was way back younger. the man specifically doesn't want his son to experience the things he does inside the jujutsu world.

basically, all he could have wished and asked for is that satsuri must have inherited your soft, kind, and loving personality. those every trait of yours that made him fall in love with you. and now, that got him staring at his son for too long, hoping that satsuri would grow just like you.

hell, if he could only forbid his son to avoid being a sorcerer, then he would! but he knows in the end that satsuri would be the one who will decide his faith.

"oh, it's three in the afternoon. it's my turn to pick up gumi and miki." suddenly, you wake him up from his daydreaming session. with a hump, you stand up along with satoru.

"let's pick them up together. it would be nice to see satsuri pick up his siblings too." satoru suggested and you liked the idea. without any further, you two head to your car and drive away. you are the driver right now, of course.

"mom!"

as soon as you exit the car, you see tsumiki waving and smiling at you as you watch her skip her way towards you with megumi trailing behind her.

you kneel down to greet them in your arms. "hi, my babies! how's school?" you asked them, still giving the two your big warm hugs.

"it was fine. my friends and i gossip a lot during our break time and i can't wait to share it with you." you are tsumiki's number two gossip buddy (satoru is the first one, definitely) since both of you are female. most likely, there were times where only the two of you would understand since it's a girls thing.

"how about you, gumi?"

"just a normal one." your other baby boy answered, megumi is still wrapping his arms around your body as you sensed the fatigue in his voice.

"come on, let's head back to the car." you're about to stand up but megumi still refuses to let go. smiling to yourself, you know what he wants so you picked him up and carried him in your arms.

immediately, megumi planted his face on the crook of your neck while tsumiki volunteered to carry his bag — what a sweet girl.

"my sweet gumi must be very tired. do you want me to set up a futon in the backseat?" you cooed.

"yes please." megumi snuggles like a kitten in your embrace, making you smile and giggles at his cute tactics.

tsumiki giggles too at his brother's behavior. both of you know megumi was more fond of you among all. ever since satoru bought them home, megumi finds himself getting more attached to you and sees you as his mother figure.

the three of you proceed to the car. as tsumiki opened the door, she was greeted by a man and baby's voice who seemed to be laughing.

"tsuri! you're here!" tsumiki's face instantly grew brighter at the sight of her little brother. while megumi, his head instantly shot up from your shoulder at the sound of his other brother's name mentioned.

"hello satsuri." despite the sleepiness in his voice, there's still a hint of excitement in his voice.

"hey! i was here too!" the other baby — i mean, satoru pouted when his two children didn't even bother to greet him the way they greet satsuri.

megumi instantly snarls at satoru while tsumiki was kind enough to greet him with the same energy. your husband raises his eyebrows when he realizes that megumi was literally clinging on to you, again.

satoru doesn't have a problem with that, but there's a time when megumi would literally steal your attention away from him when it's just both of you. he just feels that megumi was doing it on purpose. behind his back, he knew megumi would smirk at him or even stick his tongue in his face.

"megs, i'm going to bring you down for a moment. i'll just set up the futon for you and tsumiki." when you get approval from your son, you bring him down and start to do your thing with the help of your husband, of course

you saw your three children playing with each other near the car. you told them not to go far away or they'll get into an accident.

"say, i'm not really in the mood to cook. should we take the kids outside for dinner?" you suggest as you flatten out the sheets of the futon. while satoru was busy double checking the safety of the bed.

"sure, it would be nice too since you've done a lot for us everyday. rest is also very important too, hm? don't forget that, my little wifey." you rolled your eyes but still smiled at his cheesy tease, but you knew satoru was just concerned for you, especially.

"okay, let's go home. it's still early and the kids need to do their assignments." you called out for your three kids who are excited to lay down on the set up futon.

your kids instantly find their spot inside as satoru starts the car. it was him driving this time since satsuri wants to be fed from you.

"sweethearts, did you wear the safety belts?" your two babies nodded. whenever you guys would set up the futon, satoru modified the space with safety belts just in case any accidents would happen, the kids would not be harmed.

looking at your children again, you saw megumi was already fast asleep as soon as he lay down. while tsumiki was watching some miraculous ladybug on her ipad. satsuri was unfortunately not with them since he's still a baby and it's very dangerous to let him sit without any supervision of grownups.

"ouch! don't bite too hard on mama, satsuri." you winced when your son bit your nipple a bit harder than the usual sucking, making satoru look at you in worry.

satsuri was now growing his teeth, so it's a double challenge to endure his sucks. thankfully, satoru was there to remind his baby to suck properly even though satsuri could barely register a word.

"satsuri, milkies are supposed to be suck carefully. want me to demonstrate it to you?" your husband is a bastard as he playfully mumbles the last statement, making you glare at him instantly.

"satoru!" if only he's not driving, you would've smacked the hell out of him. satoru just managed to let out a laugh while keeping his eyes on the road.

thank god, megumi was fast asleep and tsumiki was too engaged on her show, while satsuri is still a baby. but that is not an excuse to behave in such a way in front of your children.

"oopsie daisy! i'm so sorry, my wife. didn't mean to be very voluntary." satoru laughed at his own joke. you just snarled at him and just focused on your baby who was getting drowsy at any minute.

the rest of the ride was fine. just satoru humming a pop tune that he heard over the radio, tsumiki is still busy on her show, megumi was snoring lightly, satsuri is now fast asleep too, while you stay as you.

"baby, can we get some cakes? i am craving for some."

"no. you have to wait after dinner." you deadpanned. seems like his sweet tooth is kicking again. it makes you reminisce when you're still pregnant with your youngest. satoru was craving food more than you do and it somehow confused you.

"but baby—"

"the kids would not properly eat their dinner if they proceed to dessert first. you have to wait, satoru."

"okay." the only available choice for satoru is no choice. that's why his pout is longer than usual, good thing you're getting a bit immune to that. but that doesn't mean you're always enduring his puppy eyes.

sooner than later, the whole family was now home. satoru was carrying the sleepy satsuri while you're carrying the sleepy megumi and tsumiki was walking on her while carrying the bags.

satoru refuses to leave his eyes on you as you walk inside the house. he made a comment on how clingy megumi is and you shouldn't be carrying him because the little boy's now growing.

you replied to him that it's fine and you want to carry him while you still can. like he said, megumi was now growing and you want to cherish those moments to its fullest. satoru was softened by your words. but that doesn't mean his concern about you lessened, so he suggests that he would be the one who's going to carry megumi.

however, your middle child refuses to be held by your husband, that's why both of you ain't got no choice again but to let megumi be carried by you.

"you should've just left him sleeping on the pathway." satoru mumbles. you just shoot him a knowing look because another war would break out if megumi found out that satoru talked about him behind his back. thank goodness, megumi was a heavy sleeper.

"you agree with me, right, satsuri? that your older brother should've just sleep outside?" satoru whispers to his son. it was audible to you, so you're not sure if it was intentional for you to hear him say or not.

somehow, it brings a small smile to your lips despite his silliness, you know he didn't mean that at all. stroking megumi's hair just to make sure he's comfy in your embrace, you decided to counter his words.

"and you'll be sleeping outside too if you keep on teaching my son bad behavior and talking crap to my other son too."

@luci-in-trenchcoats : I read a few stories a few months ago but, I recently re-discovered this amazing author. With her works, I was back into Supernatural. So many hours spent at reading about our favourite hunters, so many series. And the best of the best: the writing skills are so great and it's so easy to read... Waow, just waow.

@imagineteamfreewill : Fluffy Supernatural fics and a lot of good AUs, all I need after a hard day at work. Meg is an excellent writer and you will spend a good time, I promise. I haven't read everything yet but, I know I have a few a good escapes in perspective. Don't hesitate , you will enjoy your time reading, I hope as much as I'm doing.

@anika-ann : I'm in my Marvel phase, I'm weak, I know. And, I think I found someone that could quench my thirst with so many good stories and good writing skills. I don’t know if someone already told you this yet, but what if you did an au of your Disney characters but with the Disney princess villain songs by Lydia the Bard on YouTube?

Well, that’s a toughie, because there are only a couple I could see applying. Ariel, Rapunzel, Aurora, Snow White, Anna, Cinderella, Belle, Tinker Bell, I just couldn’t see Ondine, Adrien, Nath, Mylene, Kiran, Zoe, Rose or Lacey going down those paths for those reasons. The ones I could see are Mulan, Meg, Moana, Merida, Tiana and Isabela. Since Fei is Shang in this AU, maybe Mari could want to avenge her because she was killed by people who thought a woman shouldn’t lead the army, Roxie is Meg but the whole “abandoned by Herc” thing wouldn’t work because they have no romantic connection to Kimules, only platonic. Taking over the Underworld could still work. The Moana one is kinda perfect for Austin Q in this AU, his parents are shitty. I could see the Tiana one happening with Alya if something happened to her friends or Nino so they weren’t around to act as an anchor. Sparky and I actually discussed the Merida one, and some version of it happens years down the line when Tomoe is assassinated for breaking off her daughter’s arranged marriage. And I could see Reshmabela snapping but she wouldn’t target the entire family, just her grandmother and everyone who was complacent or supportive of her actions. Her parents and sisters, and most others would be safe.

Took advantage of the Fare Holiday and did go to see Twister in 4DX.

The theater was really cool, aesthetically. The 4DX experience was really awesome. The seats moved and jostled (significantly, like a small rollercoaster). For Twister it followed a lot of the movement of the vehicles and some other things. It did feel like you were in the car with them because the seats matched the visuals of the cars movements. I was hoping for this going into it. It is undescribable how happy it made me to feel the bumps of the road during parts where the focus was on the Barn Burner so it actually felt like I was riding along with Dusty. ❤️

There were also vibrations for thunder and knocking (such as jo banging on the roof of beltzers van) and vibrations and jostling during the collapse of Aunt Meg's house. Extra lights flashing with the lightning. There was wind (sometimes a light breeze sometimes aa little stronger) and rain! The rain was light, otherwise we'd all be soaked, and obviously the wind effect couldn't be too strong but it was great. During the final tornado scene they moved the seats in a circular movement to go with the movements of Jo and Bill. Plus some other movements and puffs of air around your head as things on screen flew by (like debris flying toward the camera).

They even had some stuff during the trailers. At one point there was a snow scene in one of the trailers and they actually had snow falling in the theater.

Additionally, it was great to watch my favorite movie on the big screen for the first time since, obviously, I missed it in 1996, being 5 and all. Even better was hearing people laugh at the jokes and funny moments (and Dusty making so many people laugh filled me with so much joy I felt like I could explode) and hearing their reactions to so many other moments (like clapping after the debis scene where Bill and Jo drive though the house and even cheering for Melissa for realizing her and Bill weren't fit for each other and choosing to leave for her own sake).

The only thing that bothered me about the audience reaction was laughing during the part where Melissa overheard Bill and Jo on the hill and realizing they're still in love with each other. IDK if it was because they were laughing at them 'arguing' yet again or being overheard again or at the fact that poor Melissa is standing there soaked and being annoyed (which really she was scared) at first. But at one point she was clearly upset so I don't know where the laughter was coming from at that point. But, from experience, there's always going to be someone laughing at a touching/sad moment (possibly because it goes over their heads - example: midnight priemer of the avengers when Bruce says "I ate a bullet and the other guy spat it back out" it was definitely not meant to be funny, because it's definitely him admitting a S* attempt, but still some people laughed).

I'm sure there were other people there who've seen it before but I definitely heard a bunch of people who, based on their reactions (like worrying about Toto and then the sigh of relief when he was ok), were seeing it for the first time. It was really such a blast and I'm so glad I decided to go and that I got the opportunity to. Core Memory for sure. And my inner child is over the moon (and I couldn't stop smiling during the movie).

I'm sure I can keep gushing about this. Can you tell this is my favorite movie ever? 😅

Cutting the Strings

This is a fill for today's @fictober-event prompt: "No, you won't understand, ever."  (tweaked slightly), along with my @bingowinteriron Unreliable Narrator and @buckybarnesbingo Never the Fall that Kills You squares.

Tony knew what manipulation looked like  – after all, it had been happening to him all his life.   First Howard,  who couldn’t stand the idea of having a son more brilliant and talented than him and had therefore  picked apart every effort of Tony’s, magnifying any flaw and dismissing any creative effort.

Next came Obadiah, who had groomed his best friend’s son to be selfish and shallow,  caring only about himself – and damn it if he didn’t nearly succeed.  Natasha came along later - pretending to be his assistant and confidante, only to stab him in the neck.   

Fury wasn’t any better, of course - even if he was skilled at staying one step removed from the day to day, hands on work.  Some days Tony wondered about the film clip from the trunk Old One Eye had handed over;  whether it had somehow been edited or manipulated and in reality, Howard was talking about something - or someone - completely different.  

This all meant that  when he saw how Steve alternated between treating Barnes like glass and going into interrogation mode –  peppering him with reminders of the way things used to be between them  –  well, it got under Tony’s skin.     

“Barnes,  how about you come down to the workshop with me?”  Tony broke in, tired of hearing Steve say “Don’t you remember, Buck?”  for at least the third time that evening.  

“Why?” Steve asked with a frown.

Tony resisted the impulse to roll his eyes;  “I want to take a look at that shiny, shiny arm of his.”  It wasn’t a lie;  Tony had been fascinated by Barnes’  prosthesis since Steve brought  him back to the Tower three months after the shitshow in DC.   

Steve’s frown deepened, “Tony, I warned you –”  he said sternly.

“I don’t mind,”  Barnes interrupted.  “In fact, it hasn’t been working quite right since … well …  you know.” 

 “Aw, Bucky,” Steve replied, voice tinged with guilt,  “why didn’t you say something?” 

Because you don’t let him get a word in edgewise,  Tony ached to reply, but wisely bit the words back.  He watched instead as Bucky shrugged, then winced.    “Dunno.  Guess I’m not used to speaking up.”  

Tony bit back a grin at Barnes’ reply; given Steve’s hangdog expression, it would have only made things worse.    Instead, he made a gesture towards the elevator.    “After you, sunshine.” 

Barnes raised an eyebrow at the moniker, but stood up, saying “See you in a bit, Steve.”  

 They entered the elevator together, and as soon as the doors closed,  Tony said,  “He’s not going to understand what you’ve been through.   Not ever, I don’t think.”

Barnes’ lips twisted wryly.  “And you do?”

“Not to the same extent,”  Tony answered, “I mean, I didn’t have someone sending 1.21 gigawatts of electricity through my brain when I started asking questions about my mission,  or shoving me into a freezer when they were done with me, but I do know a little bit about being  shaped and wielded for other people’s purposes.”   

Tony grinned at  Barnes’  snort of surprised laughter.  “That was pretty damned blunt,  Stark.”  

Tony spread his hands in mock-surrender. “Figured you were tired of all the tiptoeing.”   The doors to the elevator opened, and they both stepped out into Tony’s sanctuary.   

“Steve means well,”  Barnes sighed,  “and from what I do remember, he’s always been like this.”  

“I haven’t known him as long as you,” Tony replied,  “but I gotta agree.  And it’s probably none of my business,  but it feels sometimes  like he’s trying to mold you into the buddy he remembers from way back when - whether that’s who you want to be or not.”  

Barnes looked away for a moment. “I guess it’s like they say, ‘it’s never the fall that kills you, it’s the sudden stop at the end’.” 

“That sounds like some sort of Russian proverb to me.”

“Probably.”  Barnes huffed in frustration.  “ I’m still not sure how much of what’s up here,”  he tapped his temple,  “is really mine.  And there’s plenty I don’t really want to remember, for that matter.” 

“A team at SI is working on something that might help with cutting those strings,” Tony replied.    “Binarily Augmented Retro-Framing - basically taking a traumatic memory and replaying it in real time  so you can make it come out a little different.”  

Barnes gave him a small smile.  “Sounds like something out of a sci-fi pulp magazine.” 

Tony gestured around,  “Welcome to the future, my friend.”

-Sentry absolutely LOVES seeing you being all domestic. He had it pretty rough before he came to stay with the rest of the Avengers so it's a huge comfort to him to know that you make your shared home worth living in

-He also loves to see you be sweet with Normie. That little floof used to be nothing but trouble from the day he was brought home from the shelter, but once you moved in with Robert, Normie was more than content to lay on the couch with the two of you and watch a movie. Now that was a good question. One that Morty had been hoping he would get asked one day. Good thing that Meg was inquisitive from time to time. He liked that about her. Even if her questions always were unpredictable.

Dropping his pen, he put his hands together onto the desk. "First, you must know that it was Rick Sanchez from dimension C-137 that coined up the nickname for me and the robotic Rick that aided me on my little scavenge," Oh, those were the days. Where he got to put on a clever little act as a psychotic Rick. It was good that he come to know of one so well, otherwise he wouldn't have been able to pull it off.

"Ever since then, I've been labeled as evil, but I'm not. You aren't either," There was so much he could go on to say, but Meg wasn't ready to learn about the Central Finite Curve. Not in it's entirety, anyway. "I'm evil because I decided to do exactly what any other Rick would do, but I went far beyond that and killed a few Ricks while I was at it," He shrugged. "Just because I'm a Morty who's intelligent,"

Then he picked up his pen, pointing it at her. "And you, you're evil by association. The C-137s see you as my partner in crime and have dubbed you as evil as I am. Just because we exist, just because we're supposed to be seen as lesser than,"

In this world, it was Rick eat Morty. And he wasn't going to lay down and take it. No matter what he had to do, he would show them all. He would avenge himself and everything he'd been put through. The entire Central Finite Curve will know.

For now, he was more than content living the life that he made for himself. He flicked the pen up to his mouth, poking the eraser into his bottom lip before speaking.

"Ricks are Gods, Mortys are their sidekicks -- My counterpart and I are the Devil, and you are our faithful demon. Of course, metaphorically, but that's how it is, so we should get used to it."

At least, for now.

The next day

I barely slept last night, what little I did sleep was out of pure exhaustion and no more than about half an hour at a time.  By the time 5am came around Bucky still hadn’t come back to our room and he hadn’t answered any of my calls or messages.

I wanted to talk to Steve or Nat, but they had gone away for the weekend so I couldn’t talk to either of them.  I figured I’d call my Mum and maybe talk to her but it was still super early, so I thought, why not drive to their place and talk to her in person.

I packed a bag to stay the night and around 2 hours later I arrived at my parents house.  The place where I grew up, I took my first step, had my first date, my first alcoholic drink.  The place where I lost my virginity and most importantly, the place I first told Bucky I loved him, about 6 months into our relationship.

As I walked up the front path, the door swung open and Mum was standing there.  I ran to her and she opened her arms and just squeezed me and I broke down crying.

“Meg, baby, what’s wrong?”

“Just ev..everything Ma.”

“Oh love, do you want a cup of tea and we can talk?”

“Ye..Ye.. Yes p..please”

We went inside, Mum made a cup of tea and grabbed a box of tissues and we went and sat in my old bedroom so we could talk without any interruptions.  Dad wasn’t home so it was just us.

She let me drink about half the tea and calm down a bit before she continued.

“Now Meggy, tell me what’s wrong.”

“Oh Mum, I thought he’d be ha..happy but he st..stormed out and he didn’t com..come ho..home.”

“Ok, well how about you tell me what you thought he’d be happy about and what happened before he stormed out.”

“I.. I.. Oh god, why is it so hard to say..”

“You’re having a baby?”

“You knew? Then why did you ask?”

“I’m your Mum, I know you, and I couldn’t think of much else that it would be.  You needed to say it, but I get why it’s hard, the last reaction you had was so far from what you wanted or thought it would be.  Oh my gosh, I’m going to be a Nanna?  Just wait until your Dad gets home, he’s going to be over the moon.”

I laughed because I knew she was so right.  I know his reaction will be what I’d hoped Bucky’s would be.

I explained everything to Mum while we waited for Dad to get home.  I told her that we hadn’t discussed kids and that we were good with using protection, that the flu I had a couple of months ago must have reduced the efficacy of the pill I was taking and we didn’t think to use any backup.  I told her that I was nervous and scared but also excited because I thought Bucky was my endgame and I was his.

I showed her pictures of the box I put together to let Bucky know about the baby.  Then I told her about what happened after I gave him the box.  

“Mum, he didn’t explain anything, he just left and he didn’t come back.  I suppose we should have spoken about kids before now but he just said he needed some air and he left.  I know it’s sudden but I was excited about it - I still am I guess, but it’s definitely taken some of the shine off it.”

“Well, that does sound odd.  I would have thought after all he’s been through that he’d be jumping for joy at starting a family.”

“Me too, see I’m not being unrealistic to expect that reaction am I?  I mean, if he really didn’t want kids, you think he’d tell me at the start?”

At that moment, the front door opened and I heard my Dad’s excited voice. “Meggy, I didn’t know you were coming?  Where are you?”

“In the kitchen with Mum.” I laughed for the first time in the last 15 or so hours.

Dad came through the door and almost picked me up he was so excited to see me.  “Oh darling, I’m so excited you’re here.  I have a little league match that I’m coaching this afternoon.  Where’s Bucky,?  As soon as I saw your car, I thought maybe he’d like to come with me, give you and your Mum time to talk, or you can come too if you want.”

At that, he noticed my face fall.  “Meggy my darling, what’s wrong?”  He picked me up off the chair and hugged me to his chest.

“Oh Dad, everything.  I think you should sit down, I have some stuff to tell you.” Dad sat at the table next to me and reached over to grab Mum’s hand “To answer your first question, I don’t know where Bucky is.  He’s not here, that much I do know.  I think we might be over, he left last night and didn’t come home.”

“Now the reason he left, because last night I told him I’m pregnant.” I smiled at Dad to let him know I was ok with being pregnant, even despite Bucky’s reaction I’d just let him know about.

“My baby’s having a baby? I’m gonna be a Granddad? Oh I can’t wait to tell the guys at the club - none of them have grandkids yet.”

“See, that’s the excitement I was after, why is that so hard.”

“Honey, he must have a reason for his reaction, he’s not a cruel man.  You just have to sit down and talk to him”

“I know Mum, but it’s kinda hard to talk to him when I don’t know where he is.”

With the perfect timing of a movie or tv show, my phone started ringing at that moment.  I nervously picked it up and told Mum & Dad that it was Steve.

“Hi Steve, what’s up?”

“Hey Megs, do you know where Bucky is?”

“I don’t Steve, I haven’t seen him since last night.  I was going to ask you if you knew where he was.”

“Last night?  Did he go on a mission or something?”

“Ummm, no, we had a.. well I guess you’d call it a fight, and he left.  He didn’t come home all night.  I left early this morning and I'm at my parents place right now.”

“Oh, say hi to them.  What happened if you don’t mind me asking.”

“I don’t but I’m not sure I want to talk about it over the phone.  I was going to stay here tonight, because I really can’t lay in our bed and wait and have him not come home again.”

“Was it that huge a disagreement Megs?”

I sighed thinking I may as well tell him. “Steve, I may as well tell you but you have to promise not to tell anyone else ok?”

“If you ask me not to say anything I won’t, you know that.”

“I know, I just have to be sure, because, well, I’m pregnant Steve.  I thought Bucky would be excited but he got really strange and asked me why I’d tell him this and think he’d be happy about it.  Then he said he needed air and he just left.”

“Oh, ok, wow.  Ummm, yeah.”

“Steve??? You’re having a similar reaction to him, is there something I don’t know about?”

“I guess you could say that.  Even though I don’t know where he is, I know he’ll be spiralling down a rabbit hole right now.  But you really need to ask him about it.  ”

“I will.  And Megs, don’t give up on him and allow him to explain his thought processes..”

“Ok Steve, thanks.”

I decided then and there to try him again, I hadn’t tried calling him since before I left the tower.  I called and again it rang several times then went to voicemail, so I knew his phone was on.  

“Hey Buck, I’m not sure what’s going on but I guarantee whatever you think is happening probably isn’t.  I just need you to talk to me so I can put your mind at east.  Please, please call me.  Or come to me, I’m at Mum & Dad’s place. Please Buck, I love you.”

Not 30 seconds later, my phone started ringing, his face and name showing up as the caller.
