THE RINGS OF POWER/THE HOBBIT HEADCANON
Médhor was born in a small village in the Greenwood. A month after he enlisted and left for Tirharad, his lover discovered she was pregnant; he never knew he had become a father. Through his child, he is a direct ancestor of Feren, one of the guards of King Thranduil.

Okay this post has made me go crazy with ideas that will NEVER come to pass I know, but just humor me..
I wish ROP brings back all their iconic fallen characters' actors as Hobbits in the final season's final shots, set in what will become Hobbiton!!
Charles Edwards (Celebrimbor) all twinkling with excitement, explaining how he is upgrading his smial to a Hobbit girl with golden hair who turns around & we see it's Amelia Kenworthy (Mirdania) nodding!!
A family of Hobbits working on their crops and its Lloyed Owens (Elendil), Maxim Baldry (Isildur), Ema Horvath (Earien) & [anarion's actor], a lady hobbit enters the field with refreshments for everybody and it's Cynthia Addai-Robinson!! (Queen Miriel)
Sam Hazeldine (Adar S2) is selling fruits on a stand while flirting with Joseph Mawle (Adar S1), who is selling flowers just beside him!
Robert Strange (Glûg) & Geoff Morrell (Waldreg) are impatiently waiting for Sam to finish being a flirt so they can buy raspberries!!
Trystan Gravelle (Pharazon) & Leon Wadham (Kemen) are selling baked goods on a nearby stand & Alex Tarrant (Valandil) is bickering with them over prices while Anthony Crum (Ontamo) sneaks a muffin to eat.
Simon Merrells (Marchwarden) is showing off his biggest Pumpkins to Augustus Prew (Medhor) who is visibly very very bored.
Will Fletcher (Finrod) is going around the market with a beaming smile talking to everyone like he knows everyone! (he does)
Peter Mullan (Durin III) is smoking what will become Pipe-weed while chilling outside his smial.

Hi! May I send you a random ask?
I noticed your recent post about Arondir. The show doesn't tell us very much about his life. Do you have any headcanons about him?
Hope you have a great weekend!
Hello!
Yes, of course you can send me a random ask! Especially if it's about cinnamon roll Arondir.
Some of my headcanons about him, in no particular order:
-He as an only child.
-Even by Sindar standards, he has always been a bit of a loner, perfectly content with his own company and some plants.
-He's seen Galadriel a couple times before the battle in the Southlands. Once during the War of Wrath, rallying troops for a renewed assault, and once after Beleriand was destroyed, organizing and leading refugees to safety. (Side note: I absolutely love that when he tells Theo her name, he uses the Sindarin pronunciation, a soft "dh" (in linguistics, called the "breathy d" yes really) sound rather than the harder dental stop "d". It's such a subtle difference but Ismael nailed it. Real talk, I would watch an entire season of Ismael Cruz Cordova and Morfydd Clark speaking to each other in any of the Elvish languages.)
-He fell for Bronwyn like 2.5 seconds after meeting her (this is also Ismael Cruz Cordova's headcanon). He saw her working in her garden, singing to herself, and it was the first thing he'd seen in years and years that reminded him of his lost home. The next time he saw her, she was treating a patient and was so gentle and kind. And he was just a goner. She was a young newlywed; by the time Arondir came back through, her husband was gone and everyone was gossiping about why.
-Obviously he was hesitant to try having a normal conversation with her, because he's a quiet person in general and also she's a Southlander human. He's not really supposed to make friends with them. So for weeks or maybe months, he would just leave bundles of helpful and/or rare herbs where she'd find them. Like near her house or at the well behind the tavern.
-Eventually he worked up the courage to talk to her. He asked her a question about something she was making. Or maybe Bronwyn was the first to start a conversation, confronting him about why he was leaving things around her house but not talking to her.
-Sometimes they'd run into each other when she was in the fields and the woods, harvesting plants. They would talk about plants and healing and other things while Medhor followed at a distance, occasionally trying to give Arondir significant looks, which Arondir completely ignored.
-Arondir and Medhor are pretty close. I think Medhor would have to care about Arondir more than a little to keep his relationship with Bronywn a secret. I like to think Medhor saw Arondir on his own a lot and took it upon himself to integrate Arondir into the rest of the group stationed at the Ostirith watch tower. Like Medhor just sat next to him at dinner one night and started talking and he's never shut up since. Arondir is generally fine with his chatter. He likes to keep a mental timer of how long it takes before Medhor changes topic. It's usually under a minute.
-He really likes spicy food. He really really likes watching Medhor try and fail to eat food as spicy as Arondir eats it.
-Much like Samwise Gamgee, all Arondir wants is a bit of peace and quiet and good tilled earth to tend with the people he loves. AND HE DESERVES IT. HE DESERVES IT SO MUCH.
#i just have a lot of feelings#arondir#tolkien headcanons#trop headcanons#thank you for the ask!#writing these out was so much fun

❛ what makes you think i’m going to help you ? ❜ (from médhor to nyssa) from @kingdom-of-vanity
“Because you adore me so.” Nyssa held the massive slab of meat in her arms, the blood staining the sleeves of her dress or dripping down to the ground. “Please, Medhor. The dragons are hungry, and you know what happened the last time they missed a meal.” They were lucky that they’d managed to keep the dragons from reaching the towns in the Southlands, but she didn’t want to risk it again. “It’s either you or Arondir, and he’s gone off on patrol.”
Although her family was once a powerful ruling clan in the Rhun, they had decided to leave to avoid the growing conflicts coming from the other clans. They ended up becoming allies with the Elves that came from Valinor, their dragons offering much-needed firepower to deal with the Orcs. Nyssa was the last of that family, her brothers having died during the last war, and the alliance with the Elves was still intact. Instead of staying with the other elves in their grand capital, she’d chosen to stay with the marchwardens near the Southlands, mainly for its location. There were four dragons in her care, the largest being big and tall enough to poke its head out from behind the wall. However, they were all familiar with Elves and Men, so unless they were starving or cruelly provoked, they had no reason to attack anyone. Nyssa gestured at the other slabs of meat that she planned on feeding to the dragons before turning back to him. “I can treat you to a round of drinks afterward, if you want.”

@kingdom-of-vanity gets a starter || Raina and Medhor
It had been an unusually quiet evening that night at the Black Rose Inn. The lovely innkeeper had been washing tables as a few patrons sat at the bar or headed up to their rooms. Normally, nights would be rowdy and boisterous but something seemed different in the air.
Raina was a very perceptive woman. She had to be to run an inn and keep her guests happy. The soft pitter-patter of rain almost echoed throughout the inn as she tucked her rag away to head back to the bar. It was then that she heard the door open and immediately stopped to see who would enter. The moment an elf walked through her doors however, caused her to purse her lips and hum lightly.
"Welcome in, we don't get many elves around here," In fact they got none at all which is why she was so surprised. "How can I help you this evening, sir?" Raina gave a small smile then.

“My point is this. Only twice in known history has a pairing between elves and humans even been attempted. And on each occasion, it ended in tragedy. It ended in death.”
- Médhor on the bridge of Ostirith, TROP ep 1
I wonder if Arondir remembers what Médhor said.
His love with Bronwyn did not cause anything so directly as, say, Beren and Luthien with the whole ‘steal a Silmaril from Morgoth’s crown so your dad will let us marry’ affair but the only reason Arondir is not caught with his company by Adar and the orcs is because he goes to visit Bronwyn. He only investigates the rot and finds the tunnels because of Bronwyn. His company is killed but he is spared only to deliver a message to the remaining people of the Southlands, and whilst he leads them valiantly their victory is false and they are almost slaughtered until the Numenoreans come and victory seems in hand again until Orodruin erupts and the Southlands are all but destroyed, leaving whatever few people remain homeless and injured.
The only reason he is still alive is because of Bronwyn but still tragedy and death followed.
#the rings of power#rings of power#arondir#bronwyn#and thats just the first season#in a happier world Medhor is Arondir's reluctant wingman#constantly pointing out that this is a very stupid idea#but supporting him anyway#but this is not a happier world#and honestly I can see Arondir almost blaming himself#in that way where he knows logically it wasn't his fault#but his love was always doomed#and he ignored the warnings#and then Bronwyn comes in with a heavy dose of reality and a hug#because sorry babe but our love didn't make a mountain explode

Also I’m just gunna do a head count here real quick hold on.
Galadriel: white (Welsh)
Celebrimbor: white (English)
Elrond: white (English)
Gil-Galad: white (American)
Arondir: Afro-latino
Bronwyn: Iranian
Halbrand: white (simply says “British”)
Theo: simply says “Australian” but he doesn’t look particularly white to me tbh
Waldreg: white (Australian)
Nori: white (Australian)
Isildur: white (English/Russian)
Marigold: simply says “Australian” but she talks about being black so...
Miriel: black (US-white/Ghana)
Poppy: simply says “English” but, I dunno.
Elendil: white (Welsh/English)
Largo: white (Canadian)
The Stranger: white (English)
Sadoc: black (black British)
Valandil: simply says “New Zealand” but clearly not white lmao
Adar: white (English)
Malva: Sri Lankan
Vilma: Caribbean
Ontamo: white (New Zealand)
Tredwill: white (New Zealand)
Dilly: literally nothing except that she’s working in New Zealand between ROP productions, brand new actress
Vrath: white (New Zealand) (hilariously this is Jed Brophy so he has played multiple orcs in the series so far)
Durin 4: white (Welsh)
Bazur: white (New Zealand)
Pharazon: white (Welsh)
Earien: white (American)
Disa: African-Iranian
Durin 3: white (Scottish)
Rowan: white (New Zealand)
Kemen: white (New Zealand)
Medhor: white (English)
Revion: white (English)
Tar-Palantir: white (New Zealand)
Sail Master: Maori (lmao, of course)
Tamar: white (New Zealand)
The Nomad: white (New Zealand)
Malva’s Sister: First Nations/Black
The Ascetic: Maori
The Dweller: white (New Zealand)
Numenorian Smithy: white (New Zealand)
Finrod: white (American)
Thondir: white (Australian)
Rian: white (New Zealand)
Eamon: white (Australian)
Abigail: Aboriginal
Astrid: white, unsure country
Edda: white (New Zealand)
Mairen: white (New Zealand)
So out of 52 named characters, 14 are confirmed POC and 3 are ambiguous. That’s 17/52 or or 14/52, which is either 1/3 or 1/4 of the named characters. The rest are all white. So whenever these racist fanboys are mad that there’s “so many” nonwhite characters... there’s 14 of them.
Additionally, of the 14 confirmed characters of color there is:
1 elf
6 humans
5 harfoots
1 dwarf
1 cultist
When we further analyze it:
Arondir is the only named, speaking elf.
Bronwyn and Theo are living in “the Southlands” which technically speaking per Tolkien’s books is populated by nonwhite peoples prior to the return of Sauron. Too bad in Tolkien’s books these nonwhite peoples belong to a Bad Guys Only race where all but a few are Super Evil.
Miriel, Valandil, and the Sail Master belong to an island nation that has some form of contact with Middle Earth due to the knowledge they have of the area, so trade and travel are likely to be occurring frequently in Numenor. Island nations that have ready access to trade and travel with the nations around them are frequently ethnically diverse.
Marigold, Sadoc, Malva, Malva’s Sister, and Vilma belong to a nomadic tribe which moves locations frequently. Nomadic tribes are often incredibly ethnically diverse as they move from place to place, mix with the people who live around them, and then get up and move again.
Abigail is a shipwrecked human that instantly gets swallowed by a giant fish and we have no idea where her ship was from.
Disa is the only named, speaking dwarf.
The Ascetic hasn’t even spoken more than a single line yet or really done anything except stand in the background looking evil and mysterious and sometimes be a dick to the harfoots.
So when people are complaining about adding in “random ethnicities” to “English folklore” I think some perspective is in order.
Additionally I also think it’s really interesting that people keep saying “it’s European! No POC allowed” and “it’s based on England!” and yet not a single word about all the New Zealanders, Australians, Americans, and the like one Russian in the group. Oh, does “random ethnicity” only count if their skin is dark? If they’re white it doesn’t matter what ethnicity they are?

So this is a theory based on nothing but ✨vibes✨ and probably will crash in like next episode, but! I headcanon that Bronwyn and Arondir aren't actually skirting around each other because they are too scared to admit their love. No. They are went through a bad break up, and now are trying to reconcile. Bronwyn knew what seeds to give him. Arondir told her hers is there only kind touch he felt, that he told his feelings in all ways but words. They need couple counceling.
OKAY OKAY LISTEN... I was thinking the same thing BECAUSE!! Who is Theo's dad tho o_o WHAT was he about to tell Medhor, what were his reasons?
Admittedly I don't really WANT it to be that, because it seems pretty uncomfortable to make the first black elf have a child out of wedlock, though I suppose for him it's not out of wedlock by elf standards, but that won't come across to the viewer and it would be definitely be a wild push for a stereotype in my perspective. But we'll see what happens! I've definitely been thinking about it.

3, 8, 10, 24 for the rop ask game. If it's not too much :)
Thank you! <3
Favorite side character?
MEDHOR MY BELOVED!! He (pictured left below) was so great, I loved the brief moments we got between him and Arondir. Look at him, he had the best reactions to everything, what a guy...rip to a real one.
What is your nOTP?
Hmmmm so I don't have any ships for this show that I dislike full stop, but I don't love the prevalent fanon interpretation of a few ships. This tends to happen with M/F ships, oftentimes the female character is turned into a blank slate to function as a self-insert (at which point…just write reader x fic) or turned into a shrinking violet without goals or problems of her own, whose sole function is to provide the male character with the happiness he "deserves." But at the end of the day it's a personal preference for fandom characterization, not inherent to the relationship itself as depicted in the show.
Favorite one on one conversation?
Galadriel's convo with Elendil re: boat thievery in ep 3 is still a fave. Lloyd and Morfydd have such great chemistry, Elendil is so charming and steady, it's the first time he and Galadriel speak Quenya together, and Galadriel practically sparkles…plus…KNIFE. It's a great scene, I still smile every time I watch it.
If you could ask any of the characters a question what would that question be?
I think I would ask Eärien about her art and her career plans and what she wants out of life, poor girl is neglected!! And if she wants to make out during the course of the conversation, so be it

@kingdom-of-vanity gets a starter || Alatar and Medhor
Alatar had been standing quietly, observing the elves for a moment. Normally she kept to the East among the Men of Harad, but with tensions growing and her letters going unanswered she had decided to travel West after many years. What she had not expected, however, were the first elves she had come across to have been almost...hostile? It wasn't quite that, but they were suspicious of her and were letting it be known. "I know I have been gone for years, but this is starting to become tedious. I would like my staff back at the most," she huffed before rolling her eyes. "I am trying, once again, to get to the others in my council. Saruman? Gandalf? Do any of those names ring a bell? Or am I just speaking to air now?"
With the news she had learned and the movements of Sauron, she needed to get to them immediately. Not sit among squabbling elves who couldn't decided if she was who she said she was. Her eyes finally landed on one of the elves in particular. "You look smart, maybe you can answer."
