Hey! I remember those photos from the Mobile Frame Hangar forum!
Good to see you here!
Okay. Look. This post is probably only going to be for me, but I found a cache of old photos of a LEGO robut game I had played with my friend, that I then went on to photoshop with ridiculous SFX to try and make everything look cool, and my heart was so happy to remember this that I kinda cried. Anyway, friends are cool, LEGO is cool, robuts are cool, playing is cool. Every time I get to participate in any of those things is a blessing. Even when I lose. Which I did. Big time.

A couple members of our Lancer group and I put together a module over the last two weeks for the Lancer game jam. I'll be posting the art I did for it over the next couple of days, but you can get the whole thing below on itch morganjanearcane.itch.io/a-wake-writ-in-void The pdf is pwyw since we'd much rather it be accessible to anyone interested in Lancer. It's designed to be played as either a one-shot for PCs to be able to try out new builds at a mid-high level, or to be slotted into a campaign around that level. Thank you to my co-creators in this, Morgan (http://tumblr.com/morganjanearcane) and MK for the writing and the layouts getting everything put together. We'd love to do more of these in the future and are looking to adding some extra material for this module over the next month.

Lancer on a physical tabletop with Lego minis!
We finally did the thing! I roped my siblings into playtesting a game of Lancer using Legos and a physical tabletop. The sitrep was to destroy five buildings, marked in red, because the Karrakins were using the installation to track their mobile hidden base (our home campaign is a blatant ripoff of Deserts of Kharak).
Things that need improvement:
better way to measure tiles. We were doing 4cm/space and had to do a lot of multiplication. Going to try wood dowels with tiles marked + get some kind of grid underlay.
similarly, we need aoe templates
I used too much terrain, it got messy
should get status rings/tokens to mark lock-on, etc
Things that worked well:
it was sick as hell to be able to physically destroy Lego terrain and mechs as they fell
we used physical dice? For lancer?? And it turns out clicky clack math rocks continue to be inherently great.
witchdice works well on mobile devices for character sheets so not every PC had to have a full laptop
different height-terrain was fun, though it made movement costs tricky to calculate
I'm excited to keep trying out different setups. All the terrain and stuff I've collected is pretty modular (lego makes that easy) so it'll be fun to see how wide a range of map types is possible.

A Locust, with my rethought out bases. I've been playing Helldivers lately and there are some really pretty pastel palette planets around and decided to emulate one of those
I still don't have a coherent color schemes for my mercs beyond mostly light neutrals with large color panels and decals, but I hate settling on these things, I always change my mind
Anyways happy early Halloween

HOT MECH PICS BC I PLAY LANCER 2NITE
My Blorbo, Corbin Ashton Beckett (Callsign "Blackguard")'s Sagarmatha, Cloven Gambler! The components are from Retrograde Minis, with quite a few made by the talented folks on the Retrograde discord, but the kitbashing and recolors were done by me in Gimp. Rlly happy with the designs on this big friggin tank, esp the Devil Arcana on the shoulder and the carnosaur skull on the flag :)

Great to see your work again since the loss of the Mobile Frame Hangar forums.
There was a time when I used to do a lot of things. One of those things was to review LEGO sets in relation to a game called Mobile Frame Zero, which is a table top wargame involving LEGO and, um, dice. That's kinda it. Part of the Mobile Frame lore is a sentient symbiotic alien life form called the Ijad. The weird sloth guy is a creature that has been joined with the alien, and now they do stuff together. Like golf, probably. The Mixels were a great addition to the game, which I think this photo review proves. Um.

Kitbashed this Everest together for Lancer a while ago, and having recently played through Titanfall 2 again, decided on the basic BT look after I couldn't decide how to paint him
Tried to mimic the official Everest design I've seen floating around, but I'm partial to the blocky style head so I stole that from a Battletech Highlander
Actually a lot is from Battletech, the legs are an Assassin and the Torso is a Black Knight. I love the Vladof guns from Borderlands so I found one of those for my assault rifle, and the arms are from the free mech set Filamentio released. I think that's most of it...
Oh shoutout to Death Ray Designs for their shark mouth nose art and industrial decals, they're great
