Are you ready for MeTV Toons tomorrow?

Tomorrow morning in the United States is the anticipated launch of MeTV Toons, the all new 24-hour over-the-air digital subchannel from MeTV! Jointly owned by MeTV owner Weigel Broadcasting and Warner Bros. Discovery, MeTV Toons mainly draws on WBD animated properties but will also offer material from other studios including the Universal/DreamWorks animation library, series from Gerry Anderson including Thunderbirds, and some classic anime including Marine Boy and Speed Racer. (And, no, you can't expect anything from Disney as it was said by Jerry Beck that they declined to offer material to the new network.)

As you might expect, I'm really excited for it! And going by their initial schedule at launch and presumably from then on, this feels like Cartoon Network in the 1990s and the early 2000s -- well, to me this feels like that MeTV Toons is a spiritual successor of the Cartoon Network of old and its sister channel Boomerang.

Speaking of Jerry Beck, it's surprising that the renowned animated historian is now a consultant for the network! And like Cartoon Network in its early years, maybe we can expect some animation history and trivia being shown. Or even some special stuff happening in the future.

While MeTV Toons is still in its infancy, I do think it has a chance to improve and hopefully more stuff will be added to its schedule, including some movies -- that will be nice. My TV market will have the channel at its launch day and I'll spend all day (aside from going to work for a few hours) watching it! I'll give my thoughts on it!

Addendum

It's a reminder that MeTV Toons is an over-the-air network meaning that it's viewable using a digital antenna hooked into your TV, just like an analog antenna back in the day, assuming if it's available in your area. And the best part is it's free! Be sure to rescan your TV to receive the channel. In addition, the network says that they're working hard for the network to be available in as many markets as possible.

MeTV Toons will also be available for streaming, only available on Frndly TV and Philo at launch; both require paid subscriptions. I heard that a streaming app for the network is in the works, so we'll wait and see if something comes out of it.
