So excited to finally share my full piece for the @curtaincallzine!!! I had sosososo much fun making this piece!!! the drama of 3-5 and the drama of Mozart operas, together at last <3
(details/ analysis under the cut!)
This was inspired by the final scene of the 2001 zurich production of don giovanni! the thought was Dahlia (Don Giovanni) being cast into hell by the returned ghost of Mia (the Commendatore)-- it works too well!! Also Don Giovanni/ Dahlia as the seducer is just perfect!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I included the thinker statue because it represents the statue of the Commendatore/ Mia that speaks to Don Giovanni/ Dahlia asking them to repent and then casting them into hell! Mia is on the dinner table because of the dinner table Don Giovanni sets when he defiles the statue which actually works pretty well with the gravy/ dinner that the aa cast had the night of the murder! And the rope bridge was meant to parallel the ladder that Don Giovanni casts himself off of in the Zurich 2001 production
Also!! Not only is evidence from the case falling into the river-- I included paper with the final words of the show written on it!! why??? because I'm insane!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I never quite nailed down 1-to-1 parallels for the rest of the cast but I always saw Iris as Leporello (servant who got in over their head) and Phoenix and Edgeworth as Donna Anna and Don Ottavio (seeking vengeance for the murder/ boyfriend of the person seeking vengeance). I think Pearls and Godot could work as Zerlina and Donna Elvira but it's more about being tricked than being seduced obv. So i guess that makes Maya..... Masetto? There is also a world in which Maya and Franziska are Zerlina and Masetto if only to make "batti batti" absolutely hysterical djhshdjh. Misty Fey could also work as the Commedatore but I feel like this game as a whole is more about Mia? That's just cause i like her more tho tbh

Some post-SOJ DLC case thoughts about Edgeworth, his opinion on marriage, and by extension, love.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
…and how, at the very center of this discussion is one Phoenix Wright.
Contains spoilers from 3-5, 6-5 and 6-DLC
As if the subtext wasn’t enough.
I wanted to share some thoughts about the DLC case and Edgeworth's insistence on remaining unwed, which, from what I've seen, is a commonly employed gotcha moment against NaruMitsu (because all relationships must end in marriage, right? /lh). Don’t get me wrong, I don’t really mind. I just…didn’t find the dialogue exchange very damning.
Coming off 6-5, where Edgeworth says this,
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I saw the DLC as an extension of Edgeworth's sentimentality, this time directed at Phoenix’s romantic prospects.
To make my stance clear, I don’t think Edgeworth is blind to romantic overtures; he just doesn’t care about them very much. As in, Edgeworth is largely unaffected by and uninterested in matters of the heart (with a concession that he is obtuse when it comes to people expressing interest in him, unless they're Wendy Oldbag over the top about it). But even if you feel he's terrible at sensing romantic tension, my argument still stands. Edgeworth doesn’t care about romance, and we never really see him prying into anyone’s romantic relationships…
…with the exception to this being Phoenix Wright’s.
From Bridge to the Turnabout:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sorry for the janky screenshots. I didn't didn't take 3-5 pics on my Switch so I had to search for YouTube clips. Let the record show I actually really enjoy Feenris PLUS I love angst, so this interaction was…chef’s kiss.
Assuming Edgeworth doesn't care about romance but he can understand romantic signaling, this is already pretty condemning. Why are you poking around Phoenix's business if you're so uninterested in love? Surely, there are bigger fish to fry, like investigating the Inner Temple Garden because the clues found could be vital to catching the victim's murderer?
Assuming Edgeworth sucks at detecting any romantic undertones, the implications are even worse. You're telling me the guy who doesn't know the first thing about romance somehow clocked Phoenix and Iris's chemistry this quickly? How? For what reason were you able to catch it? How attuned are you to Phoenix's personal affairs?
Now, shifting back to the DLC case, we have this lovely interaction when you show Miles the wedding chapel pamphlet:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Something to note with Phoenix’s “W-Wait. You’re not thinking about finally settling down and getting married, are you?” is that the screen flashes and we hear the damage sound after the “W-Wait."
Once again, Miles inquires about Phoenix's love life, this time after Phoenix asks about his. I've analyzed my fair share of Miles Edgeworth dialogue, and I don't think he pingpongs questions just to make conversation (see: “Say something, Wright. I’m not good at small talk.”). This leads me to believe he was genuinely curious and (subtly) trying to fish for information. And why would that be the case?
Tumblr media
My overarching point is this: Edgeworth isn’t as obtuse about romance as everyone makes him out to be (both in-universe and from a fandom perspective), which makes his mentioning marriage plans around Phoenix even more suspicious. The way the scene reads to me is that Edgeworth, in Phoenix’s company and swept away by the intimate atmosphere, lets his interest in Phoenix Wright slip through the cracks once Phoenix shows him the pamphlet. It's sentimental of him and it surfaces—once again—while he's investigating a case. At risk of sounding repetitive, there are bigger fish to fry.
It'd be less suspicious if Phoenix had similar conversations with other cast members he shows the pamphlet to, but it never gets to be this personal, even when he presents it to Maya, his best friend.
Good news if you feel otherwise about my “Edgeworth isn’t that obtuse” headcanon though, because should you believe he is actually just that clueless, you now have to contend with this:
If Miles can’t pick up on all things love, why is he so attuned to Wright’s (and to my knowledge, only Wright’s) romantic prospects in particular?
So yeah. Checkmate, I guess. Edgeworth might not be interested in marriage or love, but he’s definitely interested in Phoenix’s partners, or lack thereof. Take that how you will.

I believe that no media is above criticism, but I do believe in the idea of badfaith criticism. Like, one of the worst complaints I saw of the Mr and Mrs Smith tv remake on Amazon which was, "I thought the whole point of the movie is that they were sexy", that Donald Glover and Maya Erskine aren't goodlooking enough. And I'm just 🤦🏻‍♀️ like I dont have time to unpack all the biases that go into making statements about how a White couple is "sexier" than an interracial couple where both parties are poc.
Or those who want it to fail becos Phoebe Waller-Bridge exited the series and got replaced by Maya Erskine. Like, what bullshit are you on to go so hard for a posh White woman?

haha I’m back again haha-
If there was one thing you could change about the ace attorney story what would it be?
Personally it would be having the gap between where Phoenix and miles were in contact be a lot shorter. Because sometimes people forget Phoenix kinda stalked miles, they knew eachother for like a few months when they were 9 years old! So it is kinda creepy that Phoenix just stopped everything for him because he “looked sad.” The thing is we don’t even have confirmation that Phoenix tried contacting him. It would also make more sense if they were constantly talking to each other and it just stopped. Phoenix would have a better reason for the going into law school for a friend then “hE wAs sAd.” It’s honestly insane that nobody actually questions this for more than a minute! Like yeah, it’s the ace attorney universe. But are you telling me that no one thought “oh my god that is absolutely insane you need to talk to a therapist!” Anyways tell me what you think!
Haha hello again, anon :) (a few SOJ spoilers for the 1st paragraph) I don't think I would change any major event, but... I think I would change the way Trucy's relationship (or lack thereof) with some characters is depicted. Apart from the final SOJ scene with Edgeworth, it feels like Trucy doesn't have much of a relationship with the first trilogy's characters. In SOJ Maya doesn't mention her at all, even though it would make sense to have a dialogue with her asking Phoenix how his daughter was doing.... so maybe, if I were to change any part of the story, it would be for Edgeworth to notice she stuck in his suitcase a bit earlier so that she can take part in 6-5 at least. What she was even doing throughout the whole mayhem still baffles me... please don't tell me she was in the suitcase the whole time... I understand your point, although at least for me it just represents a character flaw & relationship flaw, and I find it interesting. I don't think it's something that's ever treated as a 'normal' decision in-game, either (Maya is flabbergasted when he tells her the reason he became a lawyer, for example). It shows how easily he gets attached to people and obsessed with saving them. It's an actual problem he has as a character. Also the class trial sells to me the narrative that Phoenix was a bit of an outcast in childhood (he had only Larry as a friend which is also mentioned to have had a not-so-good childhood).  And in such a circumstance there was this one person to stick out for him so vehemently. Then he sees that same person - someone he saw as a hero - in a newspaper depicted as a demon who would do anything for a guilty verdict, and he can’t accept it. Phoenix does this to an extreme degree, but he does everything in his life to extreme degrees, really. And it seems like to him, as long as he gets to save people, nothing is a big deal. Like ‘yeah this is just a thing I need to do to save that person’. It’s no biggie to change life paths to save someone, it’s no biggie to swallow a necklace, it’s no biggie crossing a bridge on fire, it’s no biggie adopting a kid at 26 when your life is in shambles. I like that Phoenix and Miles’s relationship is not an idyllic love story thing. Phoenix’s tendency to get too attached, obsessed, and fixated on saving people is one of his character flaws, which is something he needs to work on. Miles’s tendency to self-isolate and do everything by himself contrasts with that and they both need to learn from each other, really. Both are incredibly unhealthy. What drives this point home is 2-4 for me, because Phoenix makes Miles’s death all about himself, like it’s somehow his responsibility. When it really isn’t. Miles had to take some time for himself and figure himself out. It’s the way he did it that was wrong. They’re both wrong here.
By the way Phoenix confirms he tried to contact him, we just don't know the 'how'. I suspect he may have just phoned/sent something to the Prosecutor's office, but who knows. Miles didn't reply, regardless. Unless he sent like, dozens of stuff to the Prosecutor's office, I wouldn't define that as stalking; he also never even tries to be in his vicinity if not in the courtroom. By his logic, he only can get through to him via the law, after all. By showing him and reminding him what Miles himself taught him as children. That's why he became a defense attorney and not something like... I dunno, a detective? Would have been easier to talk to him if they worked together, no? But that wasn't the point. He wanted to inspire Miles to go back to being the person who inspired him when they were children. That's my understanding, anyway. (also I like to consider the fact that the whole Dahlia fiasco reminded him of the feeling of being accused, but I'd ramble so I'll stop here... there's a lot behind his decision to become a lawyer) I do think it would have been nice if they had at least a few more months together as children though. In the game it’s ambiguous when the class trial takes place (and the JP school year starts in April) so initially I had thought they were friends for something like 8ish months… but in the anime it’s set in September. To me this may imply that Phoenix didn’t have a nice childhood either; maybe it wasn't tragic, but he was lonely enough that he hanged on the memory of those 3-4ish months because those were his most precious ones. It’s… sad.
P.S. Sorry if I rambled too much anon, I tend to overanalyze stuff.

Heartbreak girl
pt1
Trope: friends to lovers
Pairing: Taesan x reader
Synopsis: Taesan’s tired of seeing y/n crying due to her stupid boyfriend. He's also tired of being just y/n’s “best friend”, he wanted to be more.
Author's note: inspired by the song “Heartbreak girl - 5 seconds of summer".Haven't written in so long so bare with me yall HAHAH <33
warnings: bad grammar </3, Cursing, cringey HAHA
Special mentions: Boynextdoor,Chaewon from lesserafim,
Time went by so fast for Taesan.
“I dedicate this song to you
The one who never sees the truth
That I can take away you hurt
Heartbreak girl”
“Taesan..dont tell me this song is about Y/n..” Sungho annoyingly said to Taesan. “Yeah dude. Why can't you just tell her how you feel? I'm sure she feels the same.” Leehan said while ruffling taesans hair. “As if man..she still loves her stupid boyfriend.”
Flashback..
“Shit it's 5am..i have a test today” Taesan quietly says while covering his tired eyes. He's been working on this song all night. When Y/n asked Taesan to be her date for the festival, Taesan knew he had to make the night perfect.
End of flashback..
Students walked in and out from the gate with smiles and laughter. The air felt warm but not too hot to make you sweat, The leaves fell elegantly to the ground causing piles of leaves. Couples walking together, Friend groups taking selfies but Taesan only focused on one thing, Y/n.
She was talking about how Chaewon was dating the handsome senior from class 2. Of course everything that Y/n said just went through Taesans ear, He was too focused on how her hair frames her face, How her glasses sit loosely on the bridge of her nose, How her jacket was slipping off her shoulder. He could focus on every feature Y/n had, till someone interrupted them.
“I see u took him as your date tonight huh?”
They both stopped and looked at the tall figure in front of them.
“Justin?..Where's Maya? I thought you were bringing her tonight”
Taesan felt anger and annoyance fill up inside of him. Why did he have to be here?
“Well I dumped her cus I felt guilty about not bringing you, but it seems like you already have someone..So I'll just go alone. Have a fun night you two”
Y/n looked at Taesan with a “I'm sorry” look. When Taesan saw the look in her eyes he knew.. He knew that he couldn't do anything. “Go..I'm fine here. I have to perform tonight anyways.” Taesan said while giving Y/n a sign to catch up to justin.
Y/n said thank you quietly and ran towards to Justin
Taesan felt unmotivated the entire afternoon. Every laughter and noise he heard annoyed him,The people who accidentally bumped into him through the crowd irritated him, The music in the background drove him crazy. He needed somewhere calm, quiet. He needed her.
The rest of the afternoon was a blur. “Taesan-hyung! Are you okay? You've been zoning out..” Woonhak says while waving his hand in front of taesans face. “Maybe he's daydreaming of y/nn~” Jaehyun says teasingly.
“I let her go.” Taesan said annoyingly while ruffling his hair out of anger. “Stupid Justin had to ruin it..He had to guilt trip her, I hate this”
All the members looked at Taesan with a concerned look. “Why wont you just tell her man..” Riwoo broke the silence. “As if she likes me back..She cant even move on from Justin”
*knock, knock*
“Hello? Is Taesanie here?”
All the members look at the door. Taesan felt his heart fall..That voice sounded familiar..It sounded like Y/n.
“shit.”

if Professor Layton ever saw Maya channel Mia he would be shitting bricks, I think. Enough bricks to build a bridge across the Channel, above water.
"It- it must be some sort of hallucinogen gas– or maybe some chemical– some remnants of Labyrinthia must've stuck to Miss Fey–" Layton stammered, grasping for the puzzle's solution like it was worth 60 picarats, or like a desperate man whose worldview was rapidly shifting and he was left to the tides without a float.
"No, professor," Mia said, placidly smiling, "I really am dead. Got struck in the head with a blunt object, wouldn't recommend it."
"It can't be. Every puzzle has an answer–"

What the Ace Attorney Villains Could Get Charged With (to the best of my research) (in America laws)
Game Two
!Disclaimer! I know nothing about law take this with a grain of salt I was just bored.
Richard Wellington
Assault and battery - Two cases of both. One when he killed Dustin Prince and the second when he hit Phoenix with the fire extinguisher. Though, depending on whether or not Phoenix saw him coming, he could be innocent of the second assault charge. Not the battery, though. I doubt either would count as aggravated assault, as it was the fall, not the fists, that killed Dustin; though Phoenix's is a bit more uncertain due to the weight of the fire extinguisher and the fact that he's only not dead because he's a freak of nature.
Incrimination - He tried to frame Maggey with the name written in the sand.
Obstruction of justice - Can you say "tampering with the crime scene"?
Theft - He stole Phoenix's phone, even if it wasn't technically his intention. It doesn't really matter, since his own phone was likely regarded as evidence. So, theft no matter how you look at it.
Fraud - So much fraud, seeing as he's a con artist. That's what con artistry is. The textbook definition of fraud, all the time, as a job.
Conspiracy - As he was in a GROUP of con artists, his fraud is conspiratorial in nature.
Second-degree murder - He had the intention to kill or severely injure Dustin, but didn't seem to be thinking about it. Thus, no premeditation.
Computer fraud/abuse - Yes, this is an actual thing. When he deletes the contacts off of Phoenix's phone, he's commiting a crime. Doubly so since his actual intention to delete information off of a piece of evidence during a criminal investigation, which may lead to some transferred intent or something.
Perjury
Morgan Fey (includes crimes from Game 3)
Conspiracy - She plans the murder of Dr. Grey with Ini Miney, in depth. Perhaps the most clear-cut case of conspiracy in the series. Also all KINDS of conspiracy in Bridge to the Turnabout.
Obstruction of justice - She did the tampering of the crime scene in Dr. Grey's murder, hiding and fabricating several pieces of evidence regarding Maya.
Incrimination - You know the deal. Frame-ups are incrimination.
Treason - Depending on how you interpret the government in Kurain, she could be guilty of this by committing crimes against the government. I'm trying to figure out what crime she may have committed trying to usurp Maya and Misty, so I may change this later if I figure out something more accurate.
Corruption - If you don't think treason makes sense, then she definitely committed this, regardless. Even without any monarchy, there would have to be some kind of business model for the spirit channeling, which makes her a business executive of sorts, therefore capable of criminal corruption.
First-degree murder - By proxy, when Ini Miney kills Dr. Grey. They planned it together, after all.
Attempted regicide - This is the closest real life law to describe when she tried to kill Maya due to her status. By proxy, of course. If you don't buy the Feys being some kind of pseudo-monarchy, then this is just attempted murder.
Assault and battery - Three charges, by proxy. One for Dr. Grey, one for the drugging of Maya, and one for Dahlia attacking Maya at Hazakura temple. All are aggravated except for the drugging because knife. It's possible some of the assault charges wouldn't go through due to the fact that Dr. Grey and Maya may not have seen the attacks coming.
Child abuse - Her treatment of Pearl could easily be considered this, particularly in the third game when she tries to trick her into murdering her cousin. That's pretty bad parenting.
Perjury
Acro (Ken Dingling)
First-degree murder - The murder was about as planned as you can get without taking it to its logical extreme Manfred-von-Karma-style. Yes, he intended to murder Regina, but transferal of intent is a thing. I'm honestly not sure if the fact that he was intending to kill a child carries over, but if it does, the punishment would be greater.
Obstruction of justice - A bit of a grey area, but he did hide the murder weapon and burn the cape, so I believe this applies.
Child endangerment - This or a similar charge may apply due to his goal to kill a child, by my best estimation. Even if it doesn't, failure to report suspected child abuse can count as child endangerment, and... well, the basically the whole circus was grooming this sixteen year old girl, so...
Incrimination - Depends if you think his framing of Max became intentional at some point along the way, which, considering the fact that he testified against him, it almost definitely did.
Battery - No assault, actually, since Russel didn't see the statue coming! But still battery. Automatically.
Perjury
Matt Engarde (+ Shelly de Killer, by extent)
Conspiracy - He hired an assassin.
First-degree murder - He hired an assassin.
Burglary - Breaking into a place with the intent of committing a felony. While he didn't do this himself, he had Shelly de Killer do it, and anything a hitman does while carrying out the act they were paid to do is a crime the hirer is also guilty of.
Assault and battery - Given Shelly de Killer suffocated Juan and there were signs of a struggle, this is presumably true. Matt is guilty by proxy. Given that we have no idea what he used to kill him, I have no idea if this is aggravated or not.
Fraud - Shelly de Killer pretended to be a bellboy at the hotel. Matt is guilty by proxy.
Blackmail - The ENTIRE case hinges on blackmail in the form of kidnapping Maya. However, he also takes significant steps towards blackmailing Shelly de Killer, so he may actually have two cases of this on his hands.
Kidnapping - This is a bit of a grey area, since it isn't certain that he directly ordered Shelly de Killer to kidnap Maya and use her to blackmail Phoenix. However, given that she was hidden in his house, he seems to know what happened, and he assists by reminding Phoenix of the situation, it's safe to say this was a conspiratorial crime. He's almost DEFINITELY going to be found guilty of this.
Wiretapping - Hiding hidden cameras in a "gift" for someone, as well as around his private residence... wiretapping for sure. Only if the video included audio, though. If not, it doesn't count.
Incrimination - In the plot twist of the century, he's actually guilty of this through conspiring with Phoenix himself. While he did not directly tell him or formulate and communicate the plan to pin the blame on Adrian at first, he did so later and clarified that this was always his intention. While Phoenix has the defense of being blackmailed at the time and the fact that he didn't actually provide any incriminating testimony (perhaps he's accessory?), Matt likely isn't going to be so lucky.
Invasion of privacy - See: wiretapping. Even if the cameras didn't have audio, they'd still be a huge invasion of privacy.
Taking a hostage - A few different names for this depending on where you are, but the basic principle remains the same. This is a separate crime from kidnapping and blackmail, as neither automatically mean a hostage situation. By proxy; even if he weren't conspiring, Shelly still defines this as part of the duties he was paid for, so the whole hired-felony-committing thing still applies.
False imprisonment - This is also not technically the same as a kidnapping charge. Shelly not only moved Maya to a different location against her will (kidnapping), but he also kept her there (false imprisonment). By proxy.
Perjury

Two years after Governor Scott's death
Ram slowly walked away from his house, lost in thought. He could feel the wind in his face, rearranging his carefully styled hair and ruffling the shirt he just finished ironing. The sun, shining brightly in his eyes, slowly began its journey back to the horizon as kids laughed and ran back home from school. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath in, letting himself relax. There was a time when he didn’t know what the word relax meant, how it felt to feel his heart rate slowing and have time for himself. Now that he did, he never quite knew what to do with it. Sometimes, he would make a beeline to Bheem or Sita’s house to talk to them or have dinner together, other times, when he didn’t feel like socializing, he would sit at home and read a book. On days like today, when he just couldn’t get himself to pay attention to the words on a page, he’d huff and put down his book to go for a walk, thinking about how much his life and his India has changed.
“Ram anna, chai thaaguthara?” (tl. Do you want to drink chai?)
He turned his head and saw a group of kids at a street food stall looking at him eagerly and quickly recognized all of them from his colony. His mouth curved into a smile as he forgot about his earlier thoughts and started walking towards them, his hands checking his pockets to find his wallet.
“Aa thaguthanu. Anna, okka chai isthava?” (tl. Yes, I’ll drink some. Can you give me one chai?)
As the seller made his chai, he pretended to look in his wallet for money while secretly watching the kids, and smiled with a glint in his eyes as the kids’ faces fell, realizing he didn’t get them anything. He pulled out a 100 rupee note from his wallet and handed it to the vendor, who looked at him confused.
“Migilina paisalu tho pillalu ki vallaku ishtam ainadhi edhaina ivvandi, inka mitha meeru pettukondi.” (Give the kids whatever they want with the remaining money, and if there’s anything left you can keep it for yourself.)
The kids’ eyes widened at him in disbelief, and they quickly ran to the vendor before Ram could have second thoughts and asked for bajjis, dosas, lassis, and whatever else they could think of. Ram chuckled and shook his head, taking a seat at one of the tables and enjoying the warm taste of chai. He was completely aware the colony moms would make their displeasure very well known to him when he went home, but he figured he’d take it if it meant upholding his role as every kid’s favorite person.
The kids sat around him and became engrossed in conversations about their classes, the math teacher they despised, the cricket game they played last night, and a few other things and Ram sat back and listened attentively to their stories while tending to his chai, zoning out only once in a while when the conversation was directed away from him.
At one of these moments, he heard a laugh and the jingling of bangles coming towards them, and he turned his head subconsciously. His jaw dropped as his eyes rested on the source of the laughter: a woman, busy in conversation with a younger girl, walking towards them wearing a beautiful black and yellow saree, her hair tied back in a neat braid, with a book in her hands. As they walked up to her, he suddenly stood up, catching the woman’s attention. When she turned to face him, he held his breath and examined her eyes, bordered with kohl, and the bright red bindi above the bridge of her nose. Silver jhumkas adorned her ears glowing in the sun and the smell of the jasmines in her hair radiated off her, and he was lucky one of the kids pulled on his hand to get his attention. The woman’s face softened as she smiled, turned away from him, and walked away, and he quickly reoriented himself, telling the kids he had other work to do tonight and started in the direction the woman had left towards, promising the kids they’d play cricket together another night.
Ram speedwalked for a few minutes and finally caught up to them, trailing only a few meters behind, but he couldn’t bring himself to approach her. Internally, he was cursing himself out for making this seem easy to Bheem all those years ago, when he himself was such a mess at it. He wished Bheem, Sita, Jenny, the kids, or literally anyone was with him right now to tell him what to do and how not to embarrass himself. His shoe stepped on something and he tripped over, clasping his mouth to make sure no sound came out. When he turned to see what caused it, he found one of her silver jhumkas lying in the dirt. Ram couldn’t believe his luck and he picked up the jhumka, taking it as a sign from the universe to meet her. He then followed her, his faith in himself somehow reinstated simply by the fact he had something of hers in his pocket.
The women approached a Shiva temple, removed their shoes, and entered, and Ram stopped outside. He hadn’t been inside a temple since his father was killed by the British. Everyone close to him had tried to reinstate his faith in god, but he always shut down the idea by stating that if god was real, his father wouldn’t be dead, and if god is real and let his father be killed, then he had every reason to be extremely angry at that god. Ram almost turned around and left, but then he saw the woman returning outside, and froze, realizing she was staring at him.
“Intha dhooram vachi lopadiki raara?” (tl. You came this far, won’t you come in?) she asked. Realizing he was stuck, he slowly took off his shoes and stepped into the temple.
Once he was standing next to her, she asked him what his name was and he replied saying his name is Ram. She introduced herself as Vaidehi, and he said the name back to her, appreciating the way it rolled on his tongue. They sat in the back of the temple, and Vaidehi opened her book and started reading while he examined her features, and noticed she had removed the other jhumka. Ram hated being interrupted while reading, but he also needed to close this silence somehow, so he craned his neck to see what book she was reading.
“Avunu, gudiki vachi em pustakam chaduvuthunnavu? Adhi intlo guda cheyyachu kadha?” (tl. What book are you reading in the temple that you can’t read at home?)
That beautiful laughter that first got him to turn his head towards her escaped her mouth again and she told him his father was the head priest and she enjoyed attending the sandhya aarti whenever she could. She told him about the book she was reading, History of Dharmashastra, and they both fell into an animated conversation about the development of Indian ancient societies and their dreams for a modern and independent India. She said India needed more men like Alluri Ramaraju and he smiled and agreed, hiding the joy in his heart from hearing her say that. He never bothered mentioning that he was Ramaraju because he found it refreshing to talk to people normally without being treated like a savior everywhere he went.
Suddenly, a man, who he assumed was Vaidehi’s father, stood in front of the garbhagriha and everyone in the temple stood up. They recited bhajans, and while Ramaraju knew all of them from memory from his childhood and his mother, he quietly listened to Vaidehi’s voice. At the end, he took the prasadam from one of the other priests and walked back outside with Vaidehi. She asked him if he didn’t know the bhajans, and he replied saying he did, but he enjoyed listening to them much more than singing them, opting to leave out the truth about his father. They talked more about their interests, exchanged addresses, and talked about meeting again. As the sun finally set, she told him she needed to leave, and that they’d definitely meet again. Ram watched her walk away and put his hand in his pocket, touching the jhumka he never returned, whispering, “I promise we will.”

Handle the toughness with the best marble bridge saw
Setting up the tool properly and performing a safety check on it are the initial steps in using a marble bridge saw to cut stone. This includes checking certain the blade is mounted properly, is the appropriate fit for the maya bridge saw, and is acceptable for the sort of stones you will be cutting with machine made by Bridge Saw USA. Additionally, you should examine the water pump, any power cords, cables, or belts, and, if necessary, the motor's oil and gasoline levels.

one thing i rarely ever see mentioned is maya's disillusionment with the fey clan over the course of trials and tribulations as well as her own struggles with the idea of becoming the master. it's first mentioned near the middle of the stolen turnabout, where phoenix mentions maya hasn't been back to kurain village in a "long time" (which is the same way he refers to the last time he saw mia, implying that maya hasn't been back to the village since before 2-4):
Phoenix: (Now that I think about it... Maya hasn't been back to Kurain Village in a long time...)
and then, at the end of the stolen turnabout, mia says this:
Mia: I'm just joking, Phoenix. Don't take everything so seriously. But on the other hand, Maya... She seems kind of lost these days.
Phoenix: You mean about becoming the Master of the Kurain Channeling School?
Mia: Becoming the Master... means saying goodbye to our mother.
and it becomes even more apparent in bits and pieces throughout recipe for turnabout, though it isn't obvious at first because it's the type of dialogue you only get when you present profiles and other things:
Maya: Well, I'm kind of taking a break... I'm having a bit of trouble right now, you know?
Phoenix: (Last year's incident must still be on her mind... I haven't seen Maya train at all since that time. I think Mia said it's because Maya's at a loss these days...)
[...]
Armstrong: You 'ave la perfect face for a waitress, you know.
Maya: Um, thanks. I guess if things don't work out someday, then maybe I'll be back.
Phoenix: (What things? Is she talking about her being a spirit medium...?)
and then it culminates near the end of bridge to the turnabout, where she outright states that she wants nothing more to do with they fey clan:
Godot: ...Witness, please tell us your name and profession.
Maya: Maya Fey. My profession is... Umm... I'm the assistant manager at Wright & Co. Law Offices.
Phoenix: (Maya...)
Judge: According to the magazine I have here... ...you're a spirit medium of the Kurain Channeling Technique...
Maya: ... I... I'm frightened. The Fey clan... I don't want any more to do with it.
Phoenix: (Oh, Maya... The pain the Fey bloodline causes must be unbearable...)
and it's something that makes me question her decision to keep training to be the master, because the end of bridge to the turnabout outright states that the reason maya is staying so chipper and happy is because she's trying to be strong for pearl. which is understandable! and at the end, all phoenix and maya are trying to do is cheer pearl up, which ultimately leads to this:
Phoenix: This is a day to remember. A day when a lot of things were finally put to rest. I think we should celebrate what we've overcome today.
Pearl: B-But... I-I still can't...
Bikini: ...Oh, go on, sweetie. You can come back for training anytime.
Pearl: Um... OK!
Maya: Alright! I'm going to make a brand new start, too! Sister Bikini! I'll be back for more training! I promise!
Bikini: I know, and I won't go easy on you just because you're the future Master. I'll make sure to prepare reservations for three for when you come back! Wa ha ha ho ho ho hee hee hee!
Maya: Alright! We're going to have a great feast today, Pearly. You know why? Because training is a battle of endurance!
Pearl: OK, Mystic Maya! I... I'll eat lots and lots of food tonight!
maya puts on a determined face and says that she's going to make a "brand new start" and then proceeds to say that she's going back into training and that pearl should too—she's still in the process of actively attempting to coax pearl out of her sad shell and help put a smile back on her face after everything that's happened. more than that, the entire endgame of morgan's plan was to put pearl in the master's seat instead of maya even if it would lead to pearl being miserable, and god knows all maya wants is for pearl to be happy. so it makes me think that maya, being the self-sacrificing person she is, really only wants to become the master so that pearl won't have to. there are other factors of course (the burden of misty and mia's legacies, for one) but i think pearl is her main motivation. she wants her little cousin to smile again and if that means smiling herself and taking on the burden of the master then so be it. even if she wants nothing more to do with the fey clan anymore. someone's gotta do it and it might as well be her.

Heyyyyy *twirls my hair as i make your happy canon life doomed by my narrative *
Tumblr media
God. Rewrite aiden in my au. Where do i start w him
In my little rewrite version, he's like. His entire life is doomed from the start. Grew up with a neglectful and pushy family where he felt constantly scared and weak in, making him seek control in other parts of his life (why he's so aggressive and rude, later becoming outright violent)
During sky city, it's Lukas who's fighting against him on the bridge, and after a struggle and Aiden's whole shpeel about Lukas abandoning them (aiden, maya, gill) like nothing for the new order of the stone
Anyway . Copper golems (that belong to the founder) appear and latch onto the guy's legs, and yk the storm during that bridge scene? Yeah. The dude gets struck by lightning with the force of five dying neuron stars and then just... wobbles back and forth.... before the copper golems let go, and he falls off the side into the water
While the blazerods are stuck in Sky City as it is being rebuilt on the ground they find an opportunity to break out and they book it to the portal, get lost for a little bit in the Atlas (remade portal hallway. Imagine those images of like, illusion staircases where gravity is weird. And theres stairs and halls full of portals wherever you look. Like that.) And they pass into like the worst possible place ever that is just CRAWLING with illagers
They get trapped, thrown in jail, tortured a wee bit before maya and gill are taken dor experimentation and Aiden was supposed to be the next (his arms were already cut off, and he saw what became of maya and gill after they got experimented on) but two new arrivals were found so they decided to stop temporarily
I AM NNNOT going to continue the story from there . Because it includes another character and an oc i want to like. Build up towards
In any case, skipping ahead like a few pages when aiden manages to get out and is now travelling with 2 people (one of which is more than happy to use him as bait or a human shield), guy really just wants his arms back and feels stupid and scared without. Arms. Hes losing hope UNTIL they get to a certain dimension with a city full of these advanced redstone-loving folk
In aiden's endless luck they get into the equivalent of the black market and they find people willing to give aiden new limbs for free IF he agrees to the terms and conditions
... the terms and conditions were "we can freely experiment on ur ass for as long as we want :3" and thats. Yeah thats what the tinkerers did. They were super proud of themselves and even slapped on their logo on him
Aiden is completely useless at walking and using his mech spider legs for a long while till he eventually manages to grasp it enough to keep going. Hallelujah !! He eventually gets time to process everything that happens to him lol (he feels miserable for a while)
Other hcs down here vv
- enjoy embroidery. He's kind of shabby at it, but it takes his mind off of things. He also writes small anthology stories in a wee stolen journal he makes up when his mind drifts
- The jacket he's wearing is stolen, lmao
- when his jaw was ripped out and replaced, so was his teeth; they make a loud clank noise if he snaps his teeth. Like a beartrap!! Also a strong bite strength
- i like to think he made a small makeshift funeral for maya and gill despite having nothing of them. It helped him cope a lil
- is surprisingly kinder to kids who aren't like, loud, or overly annoying.
- misses having hands sometimes (misses being able to hold pencils normally, or feeling the fur of animals, or warmth and cold, or holding things, etc etc...)
- Loves fighting without a weapon in stupid amounts. He'll scrap w a skeleton for fun, and it's even easier with his edward scissorhands ass implants. The reason his jacket has that fire charge burn is because he got distracted with "playing" w a ghast
- in a similar fashion, likes play-fighting (i say play-fighting, but i mean like, full-on blood and bruises but without ill intent when i say fighting)
His fav mobs are creepers. Has attempted to get close to one before. In addition, really likes the nether as well.
- Given he can't yell as much anymore (though he will still be the loudest man on earth if something scares him) (think incyn from neocranium streams), he's overly condescening and sarcastic instead.
- His right pupil is all janked up because his face got slashed; the reason why was because he was trying to fight off the illagers that were taking Maya + Gill. Still believes he could've tried harder.
- occasionally loses sleep either because of adrenaline, stress, nightmares, or just because of his already abysmal sleep schedule.
^ not a morning person.
- is, in fact, still super competitive and will brag about any victory ever. Still learning not be a sore loser (its a work in progress, but its there)
- has dark humour in the sense he'll try and joke about things in the worst moments, also a bit grim or rude in the same way. He'll laugh about stupid shit in general, though.
^ when he laughs loud enough and for too long, steam will also come out his jaw vents/mouth (not to the same amount if he was to scream and overload his throat implant, its lighter and not as obtrusive)
- has a really good knack for stealing things and negotiating with traders. He likes doing it, too. He feels awfully proud of himself when he manages to pull it off.
- His little antenna thing at the side of his head emotes (whirrs up and down or twists slightly from side to side. Think warrior cat fanart or something.)
- can come off as rude (and he is, dont get me wrong), but sometimes it is just genuinely being blunt or like, brutally honest with his thoughts. He doesn't even do it intentionally, it just becomes a reflex lmfao
- Will ramble on about the history and art and process regarding architecture if he can. He'll get embarrassed about going off on a tangent for so long and will shut up but like a couple months later he will absolutely start up again
- likes using his mech spider legs to skewer zombies. Morbid stress relief, but it's still mildly satisfying to him.
- has a really bad fear of storms after the whole sky city thing; it makes him have what is essentially flashbacks to everything to the bridge fight and after it (aka, deaths of his previously closest friends). Feels similarly to copper golems and will like, discreetly knock them over or push them away using his mech-spider legs
- wont admit it for the life of him but actually really enjoys feeding birds. Wont say it because he feels like thats something people over the age of 60 do when they're having a late-life crisis.
- easy to annoy thanks to his temper
(Next design will be of a certain .,.. pumpkin-related lady ....)

The Way The Water Flows
Chapter Six: Nothing's As Good As It Seems
Warnings: flashbacks, whump, reliving of trauma (kinda), dehumanization
Word Count: 2k
The Way The Water Flows Masterlist
Previous Chapter | Next Chapter
The sickly sweet smell of syrup woke Maya up from her sleep. She rolled out of her twin bed, not caring about the pieces of hair sticking out in all different directions as she moved through her messy, dingy room to the small kitchen of her small home.
Her parents were there, talking about something she couldn’t recall but it was likely something about bills or money or the alcohol her father would drink every night. Perhaps, it was all of the above. Maya didn’t care, oblivious to it all as she was too focused on being a kid.
Maya’s father had a defined jaw and long, black hair that was styled into one long braid that settled onto his back. He had a little stubble on his chin. She got her nose from him, a small bump on the bridge that made it look hooked when a passerby saw him from the side. She would also get his height from him, six feet tall and imposing when he wanted to, even if he slouched and tried to make himself look smaller.
“Hey, sweetheart!” Her mother’s sweet voice called to her, her face shifting to happy. It was fake but Maya couldn’t tell.
Maya inherited a lot from her mother. The blackish-blue hue of her hair, the shade of her amber eyes—although Maya only had one amber eye—the slope of her eyes, the tone of her skin, the contours of her lips, and her resourcefulness. Even if they didn’t have the money, her mother would find something to eat. It could be some caribou left in the freezer for nearly a year that they all forgot about or she’d call in a favor from one of their neighbors.
By all accounts, Maya thought their life was good. Not the best, or perfect, but she loved it anyway. Her family knew every family within the thirty-mile radius that was their small town, more like village, isolated from everything else in the world.
“Sleep okay?” Her mother asked with a smile plastered on her lips while she handed Maya a plate of pancakes.
Maya didn’t answer, too busy stuffing her face with the sugary goodness her mother prepared. However, she smiled so hard that her eyes crinkled and shined as she nodded at her.
That was the morning of the day she was taken.
That sweet, innocent version of her died. Twelve years old and on the cusp of learning so much more about the world. She would have been eased into it, step by step, bit by bit.
Not anymore.
She was snatched by her leg and thrown into impossibly deep waters that she couldn’t escape from. Even if she tried swimming to the surface, she kept sinking down and down, the sun seeming farther and farther away.
Maya shook the memory from her head, sliding a hand down the side of her face. The memory hurt, her heart aching, but it was a dull ache. Her parents were still with her, even if they weren’t next to her, she was reminded each time she walked past a mirror.
“You okay, sweetheart?” Logan’s arms wrapped around her waist from behind, pressing light kisses to the side of her neck. He pulled her hair to the side so it fell across her other shoulder.
For the past week or so, Maya had been spending her nights with him. It wasn’t always sexual. Most times, she just wanted to be held. He made her feel safe in a way no one else had. His warmth infected her. Maya wasn’t sure when she realized her body heat was naturally cooler than others but each time she touched someone, even if they just brushed hands, they told her that her hands were cold. Logan didn’t complain.
Maya leaned into his arms and took a breath. “I’m okay,” She affirmed, “Just… remembered something. About my parents.”
Logan hummed against her skin, causing a shiver to run down her spine. He didn’t pry more which she was thankful for.
Soon, he left the bed and got dressed for the day. He did have classes to teach, mainly sparring and he had to do a history class since Hank was otherwise preoccupied. Maya wasn’t sure what it was but she assumed it had to do with something for the US government, a meeting possibly since Charles left as well.
He bent down, cupping Maya’s cheek to kiss her one last time before he had to leave. “I’m free during lunch. Just in case… you were too.” He murmured. He felt awkward every time he had to leave.
Logan had never really dated someone. Not in years. And he knew Maya didn’t date either but he was giving her a pass. On the other hand, he felt helpless. He was trying his best to show her how much he appreciated her, cared about her. Occasionally, he’d bring her food when he noticed she hadn’t eaten in a while. Something simple since he wasn’t the best cook but he had been alive for a while to know how to properly season a meal.
He even got rid of that Native American belt buckle. It was in bad taste anyway. Instead, he replaced it with a rectangular silver buckle that had intricate engravings with a blue gem set in the middle that reminded Logan of the streak in Maya’s hair. He liked it a lot better than his previous one.
“I have time. Don’t worry.” Maya smiled as she sat up in the bed, eyes filled with adoration as she saw him leave.
Her eyes stayed on the door for a few seconds before she stood, throwing the sheets to the side of her. She was in her designated pajamas, a simple t-shirt and a pair of athletic shorts. She was about to leave to change in her room when she noticed Logan had left something on his desk.
She stepped closer, eyes narrowing at the black notebook. Or so she assumed. She didn’t peg Logan as someone who took notes or thought in-depth about his lesson plans if he ever did have a lesson plan. So, she didn’t think it would be an invasion of privacy if she peeked inside. However, she was not expecting what she saw.
In actuality, it was a sketchbook. There were a lot of different sketches, done with pencil, that littered the pages. Some of random people she didn’t recognize, one of the mansion, and a few of landscapes that were filled with trees and other foliage. She could even tell where he became frustrated, noticing a few scribbles and eraser marks that were drawn over just for him to erase it again.
As she flipped toward the end of the book, she found some sketches of her. Her profile was captured so beautifully she was sure Logan must’ve been seeing things when he drew it. There was one of her where it seemed she was looking down at something but was still partly facing forward, with her hair falling in her face and a flower tucked behind her ear.
Her face burned with heat as she shut the book and set it back where she found it, looking up at the wall. There was still a lot she didn’t know about Logan and, while she could read his mind to find out everything, she wanted to learn it like a normal person. Knowing he was somewhat of an artist made her further intrigued to find out more.
Maya left the room in exchange for her own, putting on a pair of jeans, chunky boots, and a leather jacket Logan gifted her as winter began to take hold of New York. It was black and she filled it out nicely. It quickly became her favorite jacket.
As she was about to leave her room, she noticed some movement outside her window. She stepped closer, peeking through the opened blinds. In front of the mansion were three black SUVs.
Dread settled in her gut.
Logan had just finished up his first class for the day when he noticed a commotion at the front door. Storm was talking to a bunch of men in suits, clearly hiding some tactical gear underneath.
The one in front, a blond with a buzzcut and cocksure attitude rolled his eyes. “Look, we’ll get out of your hair as soon as you return it to us. Simple as that.” He plastered a sickening smile on his lips.
“I don’t know what ‘it’ you’re talking about.” Storm said, eyes hardened as she stared at him.
Logan stepped next to Storm, feeling a simmer in his chest. “You need something?” He looked between Storm and the blond.
“Ah, yes, Mr. Howlett,” The man’s brightened at the sight of Logan, sounding a little less condescending. “I’m Colonel Paxton. My men and I have been looking for something that belongs to the Canadian government. It got loose and it’s incredibly dangerous and we worry for the safety of the children housed here. Wouldn’t want them to wake up in a pool of their own blood, would we?”
That simmer began to boil. Logan and Storm shared a look. “We haven’t stolen anything and we haven’t registered any new students so I don’t know who or what you’re talking about.” Logan tried to keep the bite in his tone to a minimum.
“Look, Mr. Howlett, I really don’t wanna use force and ruin this pretty thing the Professor has going on. It’d be a shame to stain these walls red.” Paxton threatened, glancing at Storm.
Logan took a breath through his nose. “You don’t know if whatever you are looking for is here. Not really, so come back when you have a fuckin’ warrant.” He narrowed his eyes as Paxton stared.
The Colonel let out a small laugh. “You’re sentimental towards it, aren’t you?” He shook his head and sighed under his breath, “I understand why.” The way he said it made Logan’s stomach turn. In a normal tone, he relented. “I’m afraid you’re right and I know when I’m wrong,” He let out an exaggerated sigh, “I’ll see you soon, Mr. Howlett.” He bowed his head at Logan, ignoring Storm, before he turned to leave, guiding his men to do the same.
“Logan—” Storm turned, trying to talk to him but he was already gone.
He followed Maya’s lingering scent, she hadn’t left the second floor all day. He soon found himself in his own room, where the most recent traces of her scent lingered. But she wasn’t there. A window was left ajar. Did she jump from there? Logan went up to the window, looking down to catch a patch of grass that wilted. She did jump. She ran.
Logan pushed his hands up his face and into his hair, heart racing at the idea of Maya getting hurt. Or worse. And his head was beginning to throb slightly at the smell of fresh pen ink.
He blinked when he realized where it was coming from. He walked to his desk and flipped open his sketchbook. Slipped in between a sketch of Maya and the forest behind the mansion was a note.
Hey, Logan
I know what you may be thinking. That I ran away. From you. From everything that’s good in my life. But I’m not. I know what I have to do. I have to take my life back from them. Show them the kind of weapon they made. I can’t hide forever. I don’t want to anymore.
Please, don’t come find me. I don’t need saving. Promise. Knowing you, though, you’ll come anyway. And I love you for it. But, please, don’t. I don’t want you seeing that part of me.
— Maya.

Thinking about how Godot and Dahlia have super similar stories.
They are two sides of the same coin.
Both returned from the dead to seek vengeance against those who had wronged them.
Both found that the one who had wronged them was beyond their reach, so they turned their vengeance against the innocent next best thing.
Both have killed and tried to frame an innocent who trusted them.
They differ in that Dahlia wanted vengeance for herself, Godot wanted vengeance for Mia
Dahlia tried to murder Maya, Godot tormented, and somewhat mentored Phoenix
Dahlia murdered twice, both times premeditated and framed her boyfriends, one of whom was willing to take the fall. Godot didn't plan to kill, killed in defence of another, and framed someone he saw as responsible for his own suffering.
Dahlia was evil and murderous, Godot more complicated. Don't get me wrong I love him, but the parallels between him and Dahlia are clear, and he strayed very close to her path, albeit for different reasons.
Anyway, all this is to say that I am not over TaT, Bridge to the Turnabout, or Godot.
