Aw, I knew about the infamous parrot from "Ace Attorney", but I didn't know that her name was Polly. I hope they found her a good new home after everything. (An exotic pet rescue zoo / educational center, maybe? Because Polly cannot be safely released into the wild at this point.) Though I'm also currently imagining an AU where Polly actually gets begrudgingly adopted by Phoenix, who does actually try to provide good care for this complicated animal in the absence of any other suitable home, because Maya made some really big puppy eyes at him.
See, Polly looks like a mix between a scarlet macaw and a cockatoo, both of which are pretty long-lived species of birds, which means she could easily still be hanging around as part of the Wright family by the time that Apollo Justice comes into the picture. And doesn't Trucy sometimes call him "Polly" as well?
Trucy: "Daaaaad, Human Polly is here! Good morning, Human Polly!"
Apollo: "Why... why am I 'Human Polly'? Why can't the bird be 'Parrot Polly'? Actually, why do I have to 'Polly' a-?"
Trucy: "Because Polly was here FIRST, sheesh, Human Polly."
Phoenix: "It's true. Respect your elders, Human Polly. That parrot is twice your age."

CHAKOTAYS TRIBE !!!!!! PLEASE READ IF YOU WANT TO KNOW HIS TRIBE!!!! I'VE DONE RESEARCH TO TRY AND FIND THE ANSWER!! <3
What the hell even is Chakotays tribe??? Would it be a surprise that there is an answer to that? What tribe he was based on has been questioned for a while and I’ve only seen a few people come close to a proper answer. I’ve seen people say that he is of Navajo/Dine descent or Ojibwe. I wouldn’t say any of those are wrong as his “traditions” were all over the place it made it hard to tell. Our first bit of evidence is the location he and his father traveled to in the episode “Tattoo”. Now this is my least favorite episode in Voyager, almost as worst as TNG’s Code of honor lol. So, it’s always hard to watch and I haven’t done so in a while, but I do remember they said they traveled to Central America. Obviously, this makes up a few different countries and tribes, but the most predominant Nation in this area are the Maya. I’ve been doing tons of research on this matter, and its literally impossible to compare Chakotay’s tribe to an individual Maya tribe. This is where the writers used the “Hollywood Indian” stereotype because its just all over the place. Other than the location, a few things that gives it away is the name of his tribe. They call themselves the “Rubber Tree People”. If you are familiar with Mesoamerican history, you would know that this is what “Olmec” is roughly translated to. Linguists were able to translate it from the Nahuatl word “Olmecatl” meaning “the rubber people who live on this land”. The rubber tree also plays a significant role in Mesoamerican tribes. The rubber from the tree was used to make the ball for the sacred game of “ulama”. Which played an important role of in the creation story in the Popol Vuh about the Hero Twins. The Olmecs came before the Maya and Aztec, but a lot of Olmec culture influenced their own. Whether or not Chakotay’s tribe were direct descendants of the Olmecs is unknown to me. It wouldn’t make much since historically speaking, but it would fit the narrative of the episode “tattoo”. Another indication would be one of his decedents, Ce Acatl. Ce Acatl Topiltzin was a real person who was a ruler of the Toltecs. I’ve only read a lil bit bout him so I won’t speak on what he did or who he was until I’ve done more research. Finally, one of the other MAJOR indications to me was in his short background story of pathways. I am aware that these are not canon, but it gives a glimpse into what the creators had in mind while creating theses characters. The literal first page is his father recounting a story from the Popol Vuh, and he’s talking about the Hero Twins, Seven Macaw, and the Maize God. My mind was blown when I read that, cause I started research about this a few yeas ago and was using clues from the show and figured since I had read the book before and didn’t remember any significant information about his tribe, there wasn’t any point to open it up. I read the book again at the beginning of the year and lost my mind. All of my answers were there lol. But it confirmed what I already knew. I felt hella proud cause I took the long way to get an answer and was still right. Anyways there’s still sooooo much to say about this and I’m working on a well put together paper explaining why the customs and traditions they gave him were wrong or confusing. I hope people will read cause I put a lot of research into it. I also have what I think to be some good lore that could fix a little bit of the damage that was done. More on that later though 😊.

Find the word…Red and Blue edition!
Hello, my besties! Momo is back with ANOTHER round of Find the Word! Now, let’s go for colors! I getting red words, and y’all are getting blue. This’ll be fun! I wonder how many red things I have in my writing lol.
Words for me!
Apple, Rose, Blood, Strawberry, Fire
Words for YOU
Sky, Ocean, Blueberry, Sapphire, Denim
Now, who am I tagging? Well, my besties of course! @tsunderesalty @mikaharuka @udaberriwrites @lena-hills @narcissasdaffodil @danceswithdarkspawn @hylianjo @oceangirl24 @sliebman10 @sergeantneko @mrsmungus @bleepbloopbotz @fattybattysblog @kayedium-writes and of course, open tag!
Now, let’s get on with this bitch!!!!
Apple (We Will Be Together…Forevermore)
Two souls. A red rose field, a blue hydrangeas flower bush. A fluttering monarch butterfly, a flying hyacinth macaw. A crisp apple, a sweet blueberry.

Souls linked with one another, fated to be together until the end of time, the end of the very universe that the gods had made.

For they will be together…forevermore.
Rose (Married in Iris)
She looked around the place, having to hide her smirk when she saw Iris standing there, tending to one of the rose bushes. Her dress was beautiful, layered and tied with a bow around her waist, a veil and her bun held by a white rose. Dahlia approached Iris, who didn’t seem to notice her.

“Wow, look at you all dressed up.” Dahlia said, catching the surprised attention of her sister.

Iris looked horrified. “D-Dahlia?!”

“Yes, that’s me.”

“But- how did you-”

“Ah! There you are! Welcome!” A voice called out to them.
Blood (Let Yourself Cry)
Phoenix walked away, leaving Klavier alone by himself. He looked around and saw Trucy talking to Clay. Trucy’s eyes were bloodshot and puffy, and Clay didn’t look any better. Klavier watched as Clay patted Trucy on the back before getting up, presumably to talk with his and Apollo’s mutual friends. Thinking that Trucy probably didn’t want to be left alone, Klavier went to her.

“Hallo, Fräulein.” Klavier greeted as he sat on the chair opposite to Trucy.

“O-Oh!” Trucy attempted a smile, her voice hoarse from bawling earlier. “Hey, Mr. Gavin.”

Klavier attempted his own smile, asking. “How are you, Fräulein?”

“I’m…” Trucy trailed off, and then she sighed. “I would say I’m fine…but I dunno.”
Strawberry (Love Tastes Like Strawberries)
Maya’s smile, it was a small declaration of love, one that Franziska saw every day of her life. But one that never failed to make her heart soar high above the skies like a sparrow.

Then, a kiss.

Soft and light as a feather, lingering feelings of love, adoration, and all things of the heart.

And in this kiss, a realization of what love tasted like.

Like strawberries.

Sweet spring strawberries.
Fire (The Masked Attorney, Chapter 1)
The Attorney stared.

And, with a deep breath, repeated the mantra that never failed to light the fires of determination in his heart.

I’m the Attorney…

No, that wasn’t right.

I’m Apollo Justice, and I’m doing fine.

That was better.

What's your favorite Mayan god?
Going to cheat a little and say the Maya Hero twins, because they aren't distinguished that much from each other in the Popol Vuh, which is my main exposure to Maya mythology. And their narrative ends with them becoming the sun and moon, which is also set before the creation of humanity.
I like how the hero twins actually do lose some battles before coming up with a trick to win. Seven Macaw trounces them in a head on battle so they disguise themselves as doctors and commit medical malpractice on him. The lords of death outright kill them so they get reborn as performers for a sneak attack. Feels rare for a mythical hero to need a rematch.
And even when it's not take two of a fight they're pretty clever, using an insect to learn the individual name of each lord of death, poisoning Cabrakan instead of bothering with direct combat, etc.
I'll admit to a slight preference for Xbalanque over Hunahpu due to being introduced to him first thanks to Smite, which gave him a fun personality that felt fitting. Speaking of video game appearances, I also made a point of pretty much always using the hero twin inspired characters in Indivisible.

Deity figure
Maya
3rd–6th century
The Principal Bird Deity is a relatively misunderstood figure. In the majority of sources, he is equated with a character called Vucub Caquix (“Seven Macaw”), who appears in the Popol Vuh, a 16th century mythical history written by the highland Quiche Maya. The Popol Vuh describes Seven Macaw as an arrogant deity who, because of his fabulously bright, jeweled teeth, began to boast that he was brighter than the sun. The Hero Twins, the main protagonists in many of the Popol Vuh stories, soon put him in his proper place, shooting him out of a tree with a blowgun and ripping out his shining teeth. This story is a morality tale, describing an imbalance, a comeuppance, and how these came to put the world in order again. Although it may be tempting to equate the Principal Bird Deity of the ancient Maya with this later iteration, nearly 2,000 years separate the first appearance of the Principal Bird Deity in Maya art (ca. 200 B.C.) from the 16th century Seven Macaw. As recent research demonstrates, the Principal Bird Deity underwent significant changes through this stretch of time (which included the Classic Maya collapse and the Spanish conquest). Although the two avian supernaturals are certainly closely related, it is best to see them as two distinct figures that arose as responses to (and products of) distinct historical contexts.

The Mariachi and the Macaw
~~~~~~
original meme belongs to Blaze-On-Fire.
An almost All-Mexican recast of The Princess And The Frog, starring:
Manolo Sanchez (The Book Of Life) in the role of Tiana, with Blue (Rio) as his transformed self. He wants to open a theater in honor of his mother. He’s also trans!!)
Maria Posada (The Book Of Life) in the role of Naveen, with Jewel (Rio) as her transformed self. She wants to live free no matter what the cost.  Joaquin Mondragon (The Book Of Life) in the role of Charlotte. He dreams of being a knight and wooing a fair damsel.
Carmen Sanchez (The Book of Life) in the role of James. She dreamed of owning her own theater, until cancer cut her life short.
General Posada (The Book of Life) in the role of Eli La Bouff. (he’s more of a dad towards Joaquin than Maria) He’s spent years trying to arrange a marriage between his daughter and adopted son.
Carlos Sanchez (The Book Of Life) in the role of Eudora. He respects Manolo trying to honor his mothers’ memory but wishes he would at least consider bullfighting as a fallback.
Ernesto De La Cruz (Coco) in the role of Dr. Facilier. He’s a jungle spirit masquerading as human, and he’s deeply in dept to a certain Death Angel.
Dead Eye (Chop Sockey Chooks) in the role of Lawrence. Half-forgotten villain from a half-forgotten cartoon; perfect pick. Whenever people wonder where Manolo is or why “Maria” is acting so strange, she hypnotizes them into thinking of something else.
Ah Puach (Maya and the Three) in the role of Mama Odie. A sweet-natured witch who holds the secrets to life.
Hector (Coco) in the role of Ray. A friendly jungle spirit who helps the young lovers. He’s in love with a spirit named Imelda, who’s actually a constellation with the Evening Star at her “heart”.
Dante (Coco) in the role of Louis. In this version, his is a non-speaking role.
Looroo (Miraculous) in the role of Juju. He’s the butterfly familiar of Ah Puach.
The story is a mix between TPATF and TBOL. The Three Amigos are best friends that go their separate ways at age 11. Joaquin goes to military school, Maria to Spanish boarding school, and Manolo stays in San Angel with his parents, raising money to convert the old bull-fighting ring into a theater. After ten years apart, the trio reunites at the beginning of Summer. But when the general complains about Maria not being “ladylike” enough, she storms off and meets a singing magician and his assistant. They offer to make her “Free as a bird” in exchange for some of her long hair. You can guess how that goes.
Meanwhile, Manolo hears the ring is scheduled to be torn down unless he can raise enough money to buy it. He finds Maria in bird form. She talks him into giving her a “magic love kiss” to cure her, but it just spreads the curse to him. Ernesto tries to catch them, but they fly away to the jungle.
In the jungle, they overhear some hunters talk about a witch queen that can grant wishes. So, they decide to seek her out. They’re helped first by magic xolo Dante, then by Dantes’ owner Hector. Along the way, they argue over responsibility verses passion with Manolo saying Maria is too capricious and Maria saying Manolo is too much of a people pleaser.
Back in town, Dead Eye impersonates Maria with a necklace made from her hair. People fawn over her, Joaquin proposes to her, Ernesto praises her. When the necklace gets damaged, Ernesto sends enchanted snakes to track down bird-Maria and get her feathers. They attack the group but are repelled by Ah Puach’s magic. Ah Puach tells the birds that the way to break this particular curse is to grant someone else's wish. Maria decides to grant Manolo’s wish by using her dowry money to buy him his theater. Manolo decides to grant his father’s wish by becoming a bullfighter.
The fly back to San Angel (carrying Hector) and separate. Maria is captured on her way to meet Joaquin. Hector meanwhile tells Manolo that while it’s good to put others first, he still needs to act on his own needs.  They hear a commotion and run to see Dante attack fake Maria. He tears off her new necklace, revealing her true form. In the resulting chaos, Hector finds the real Maria, Joaquin sees Manolo as a bird, Dead Eye runs away.  Manolo steals the charm Ernesto uses to appear human. Hector gets Maria to fly away before Ernesto attacks him with snakes. Ernesto then tries to get Manolo to make a deal with him, saying he can make all of his wishes come true. Manolo, guided by Carmens' spirit, says he doesn't want his wishes granted if it means stepping on other people. He then destroys the charm, and Ernesto is dragged away to Xibalba to face judgement.   The birds reunite and tell their loved ones what happened. Joaquin, Carlos, and even General Posada agree that they shouldn't do something they don't want to do just to please others. A dying Hector asks them to take care of Dante. Then he turns into a comet and flies away to Imelda. By taking in Dante, they grant Hectors' wish, and become human again. Joaquin proposes to both of them, and they split the cost of buying the theater.   And they all live happily ever after in Fantasy Mexico.
Give me a list of the top ten birds ever
Let's go!
Quetzal — It's green! Males have these gorgeous long tails! Their feathers were used as trade commodities in pre-Columbian times! The red accents on the chest are according to legend because one descended onto the bleeding chest of the Guatemalan national hero Tecún Umán! This would be my fursona if it wasn't my country's national bird. Can you imagine? That'd be as cringe as an American with a bald eagle sona.
Yellow-naped parrot — My chosen bird to base my sona design on. This is my head the archetypal parrot because my grandfather used to have one as a pet. I used to spend a lot of time at his house so of course I'm fond of them. Also I find parrot mimicry so cool. Language bird, very fitting for a linguistics nerd like me.
Scarlet Macaw — Also from the parrot family. The red plumage is also gorgeous. A bird I associate with the maya lowlands. I also associate them with the Mesoamerican mythic motif of the hero twins who defeat the sun monster.
Peafowl — They are so fancy and funky looking. They are the mascot of this hotel here in Guatemala operated by an amusement park company that is partially a private enterprise and partially funded by a voluntary tax. Seeing the peacocks when I visit is one of my favorite things. Also there are some at the cemetery where my grandma is buried.
Egyptian Sacred Ibis — The sacred bird of the primary deity I worship, Djehuty! Seeing them depicted in the tomb murals makes me wish I could visit the pharaonic era Nile valley and walk among the reeds.
Raven — Love the witchy aesthetic! As with other corvids very smart and playful. Has mimicry abilities! I associate these with vikings a lot because of the whole Odin's ravens thing as well as the raven banner. Look it up, it's a seriously cool design.
Crow — Smaller size means they get away with mischief so much easier. Same as above, corvids are just such neat little guys.
Grackle — A smaller corvid which I see more often in my local environment. I love collecting the feathers they leave strewn about. I hope if I'm ever visiting the US I can resist the magpie urge of picking up feathers because I hear that is super illegal.
Harris' Hawk — THEY STACK! These are so silly, love seeing photos of them. Also unusually among raptors they are pack hunters. If I ever branch out from writing about cats I wanna write about these.
Magpie — I too have an instinct to collect shinies. Another bird I feel a kinship to.
As this country heads for another election, just remember that the naming of the Americas, or America is under dispute. I have found the "AMERI" prefix being used before europeans getting here throughout Mesoamerica. There are also those of us who understand that it hasn't exactly been the land of opportunity for those of us who have lived in poverty. Here are some songs that illustrate that view.:
