succumbed to the outsiders brain infection and made an oc.

her name is Honda (yes, like the car) and she’s a greaser! she’s 18– turning 19 on september 14th!

more info +backstory under cut :)

she works at the dingo, mostly to protect the other girls that work there and occasionally break up fights (if she isn’t in them)

she moved to tulsa with her mother when she was 7 in 1955, and ended up neighbors with the curtis family! their mothers got along, so she met the boys by being invited over for playdates (and may or may not be the reason why ponyboy learned to run so fast due to her chasing him)

two-bit and steve were darry and soda’s friends back then, so she’d play with them occasionally as well

her mother died the day after she turned 18– and during her grieving period she relied heavily on mr. and mrs. curtis, but they ended up getting into a car crash only a couple months later.

both honda and the curtis brothers were hit really hard by their parents deaths and having no one else to rely on, so they ended up bonding a lot during this period

honda has respect for darry and how he took responsibility to care for the boys, and helps him occasionally even when she struggles to take care of her own situation

she cares for soda pony and johnny like her little brothers :)

she graduated from high school, but gave up going to college after her mom died

she actually was a surprisingly good student

hated seeing darry have to give up his dreams of college— tried to desperately work jobs to help them save but it was never enough

also cried with soda when they couldn’t buy mickey mouse

can often be found on shift at the dingo, working another job, or sleeping on the couch at the curtis house

she’d often roughhouse with the rest of the gang & join in rumbles

she, dally, and two-bit would go around doing stupid shit, but if they catcalled any girls she’d punch them

sometimes two-bit will ask her how to get with girls and she’ll just stare at him like 😐

she’s rather proud of the muscles she’s built up, though it does get her some weird looks sometimes

she’s friends with the other girls at the dingo because she takes care of them, sometimes she’ll go hang out with them because she’s worried about some guy picking on them (they just think she wants to hang out though)

loves her beat up red pickup truck that runs on hopes and dreams

i have more of her seeping into the very crevices of my brain but i think it may be best to leave off here today 🙏

Heeeey time for more Chloe in Megapolis goodness

So last we left off, Chloe basically realizes that her dad has left her to fend for herself alone in a foreign country with her sorta-mentor/kidnapper

She totally doesn't take this personally as a deep betrayal. She definitely doesn't cry for a week straight about it. She absolutely doesn't start throwing herself into her magic training and getting more violent in her fights with Team MK to cope (and so not clinging to Macaque's approval during their magic training sessions like she does with her mom). She's completely fine and claiming otherwise is ridiculous - UTTERLY RIDICULOUS

(Pollen tries to comfort her, but she's limited in what she can do when Chloe's being so volatile, and the other kwami don't know/trust Chloe well enough to approach)

Macaque does glean what the issue is, but since this is pre-redemption, his answer to her distress is to put all her anger and betrayal into training and use it to strengthen herself to take revenge and ensure no one can leave/betray her like that again and what do you mean he's projecting this is valid advice and totally not him acting out his own betrayal by Sun Wu Kong on this 14 yr-old French girl SHUT UP

(He occasionally hears Lady Bone Demon approaching with his powers and every time he does, Chloe's fate is...not a good one He tries to pretend not to notice how much the idea unnerves him)

Things come to a head in "Shadow Play" with Chloe acting in the background (Taking the place of snack lady) while Macaque sets up things for his trap. MK holds a (somewhat stilted due to Chloe's grasp on the language still being mid-beginner but a lot better than when she first arrived) convo with her where they both vaguely allude to their own issues and give each other minorly helpful advice

Of course, the fight breaks out (And poor MK is devastated the girl who gave him a discount on snacks was Evil Bee Girl all along!) and Macaque does his whole "You're like me and don't care about anyone" spiel before MK points out Chloe and both of them immediately try to downplay it - No, this is just my evil henchgirl whom I'm using to menace you I don't care about her and her wellbeing or feel fear over not being able to keep her safe and no this is just the guy who kidnapped me that I'm using to get more powerful I don't feel a sense of belonging from him showing me actual understanding I never got from other adults in my life I'm not lying fuck you fight me damn it!

Of course, like canon, MK wins and pins Chloe while Macaque breaks the lantern and after he panics over how he's actually becoming fond of of the blonde and is actually concerned for her (and once again hears his inevitable confrontation with LBD) he just...leaves Chloe behind without a word

(This definitely hasn't just made her abandonment issues ten times worse)

I've seen a lot of different takes on Fear Toxin/other fear causing stuff (Yellow Lanterns Ring or something)(later just called Fear Toxin cause I'm lazy) but here is another one.

Danny seems like he isn't affected by Fear Toxin because his biggest fear is that his accident changed him so much he is no longer human, he can no longer truly experience human things.

So when he gets lungful of fear Toxin, he feels normal. He was antsy before, because c'mon, it's a rogue attack but it's not worse. Or so he thought. Because the anxiety lingers. Not enough to register as abnormal just this slight hypervigilance that makes you see things about yourself and your surroundings that you'd never realize otherwise. He'd realize he doesn't blink as often. He'd realize that if he doesn't consciously focus, he sometimes seems to not touch the ground. Forgets to breathe. He can't feel his own pulse at time. He'd realize people will miss him when he's walking down the street as if he was invisible (people just don't care about everyone they pass by). When he'd look straight into his reflection, he'd look slightly to the left. Not enough to actually name anything that was wrong but just stretched enough to fall on the wrong side of the uncanny valley. If he just caught his reflection in the peripheral vision, it'd be vaguely shadowy creature with glowing green eyes and white smoke instead of hair. Overall he'd be just wrong enough to be distinctly not human.

For everyone else, he'd be just a dude. Literally couldn't find more normal dude than this dude. Will pass as absolutely normal human unless someone is specifically looking for ecto-ghost stuff. Even most magic users wouldn't clock him at the glance

Tldr: Fear Toxin makes Danny perceive himself as some sort of eldritch horror but not enough to make him believe he'd actually be affected, while from outside perspective he's Just A Dude™

i'm surprised i haven't seen any text posts yet about the Unsubtle Differences between astarion’s tiefling party/high approval forest scene and the one you get after the goblin party.

there’s something so terribly interesting about how the conversation afterward plays out depending on which variation you pursue.

like, most people have seen the tiefling party version by now. astarion basking in the sunlight the morning after, playing off most of what tav says with relative ease, even when they ask about his scars and he tells them about cazador. his cadence is smooth and composed, his smile almost friendly, even though you know, as the viewer, he’s playing a game of manipulation at this point. the only real crack in his demeanor is if tav notices that cazador’s “poem” was written in infernal, which, understandably, startles him.

but recently i watched the goblin party version of this same scene, and everything reads so differently. unlike at the tiefling party, it’s still the middle of the night when astarion tries to leave, thinking tav is asleep—almost immediately after the act, in fact. when tav does speak to him, he’s visibly nervous, halting and stammering in the middle of lines delivered unflinchingly in the other version of the scene. he gestures broadly and fidgets more while talking, his smile comes and goes. there’s even some of his distinctive high pitched, fake laughter sprinkled throughout the exchange, almost identical to later scenes where he's very, very obviously uncomfortable (like if raphael mocks him and magics off astarion's shirt to show the party his scars in act 2, or when confronting the gur children in their cell in act 3, etc etc).

siding with the goblins represents something deeply familiar to astarion, a level of cruelty he's more than familiar with and embraces likely because cruelty and duplicity, to him, go hand-in-hand with the power and freedom he craves so badly—but he won't stay the night with this tav, even if he approves of their actions. no, in this case, he'll keep to what's familiar and attempt to leave them in the forest under the cover of the very same darkness he resents having been cast into by cazador. when he gets caught, it sets him on edge, and everything he says becomes such a blatant lie to save face that tav would have to be completely oblivious not to see through him, or maybe just not care enough to.

but if tav saves the refugees? challenges his worldview and comes out victorious? oh, he'll complain of the poor rewards for his trouble at the party and whine about it being boring, but he decides to stay with tav through the night while they're asleep and on past dawn. he takes a moment to enjoy the morning sunlight, returned to his life after two centuries without. the same is true if you have high enough approval that he asks before the party, in which case, you've almost certainly hit his biggest approval gains: trusting him and supporting his safety. maybe he doesn't trip over his words when he speaks because, well, maybe this is someone he doesn't have to worry about. someone who's already more than proven themselves a foolish, heroic sort with a bleeding heart or otherwise demonstrated that they're already in his corner. in other words, not a threat—at least not to him.

does any of this make sense. i wanna study this guy under a microscope.

aziraphale, the one who gave the first human exiles his flaming sword as both a source of protection and warmth, who did not look on them as sinners deserving of destruction but people entitled to the best chances possible, has never once looked at crowley, a heavenly exile, with anything other than compassion and a desire to protect. from their first meeting, he never wanted anything bad to happen to him. when crowley slithers up to him in eden, he treats him like an equal rather than an adversary. when crowley appears, his eyes fill with love and excitement, his gaze turns soft and hesitant, his whole body seizes with joy of seeing him. crowley might typically the one to seek him out, but aziraphale has always welcomed him home.
