I've been thinking about different Killer AUs recently and, personally, I think a Handplates AU Killer would be rather interesting.

Mainly because there ain't no way that guy would ever be able to kill his brother no matter how much his code gets messed with. That said, I don't think that would end better for Papyrus per se. Because Killer being unable to kill him just means he works perfectly as leverage. Like, imagine how many times both Chara and Nightmare have locked Papyrus up somewhere only they have access to just to keep Killer in line.

Because that's the other thing, even after Killer kills Chara and resets it wouldn't be the end of that nightmare for Papyrus.

Also thinking about that concept in Handplates where skeletons glowing their eye lights at each other is fundamental for their mental health. Killer already lost one because of their father. And now he has neither. Now he can't do something so fundamental anymore and it's because of some other abusive asshole who only saw him as a means to an end.

Imagine Stage 2 sort of resenting Papyrus because of how much his existence means a loss of control and resenting himself even more for being unable to kill him.

And imagine Papyrus having to be aware as his brother spirals further and further. I think just losing him would be a mercy. I think not being able to recognize the person Sans has become would be easier than seeing everything he's been through while being unable to do anything about it.

au concept: undertale fun value

basically what if fun value was more like a minecraft seed system n affected game more

first playthrough will always be classic undertale, same for the all neutral routes after that... it will be until pressing "true reset" or "erase" button, depending on what route you chose. after that fun value will be set to random

randomization of fun value happens only after "true pacifist" n "genocide" routes

only way to not get random fun value (in game, w/out changing files) is to use different names w/ preset value. e.g CHARA will always set fun value to all 0 (except for last 2 digits, they r for easter eggs), which is classic undertale

names that r connected to other souls (colours or traits short names) will result in shuffling of weapons n armor locations, as well as their stats and ACT menu

joke versions of character names gives fun value w/ different lvl off brainrot

FRISK is still unfinished hardmod

some values can make characters remember previous timelines, n depending on what routes you did before, what is current route is, n how many routes before current one they will react to you differently. some of those values only gives characters ability to remember only current neutral routes (including aborted routes) (staying in "remembering" values can make some parts of fun value permanent) :)

what if killer was never abducted by nightmare n pressing erase button did nothing? like how true reset can be pressed only after getting to surface, erase can be pressed at lv 20. and until this condition is met, erase button is just a fancy png lol

so. killer is found by guards few hours later, brought home, n given therapy (not very successful, but still)
