The Fourth Inspector had strictly forbid W.I.T. from building, operating or owning a temporal projector.
So, naturally, Mary Shelburne-Grey had one installed in W.I.T. headquarters and has it up and running, just in time for the Fifteenth Inspector to have need of it. (For Emerald’s search for her birth mother.)

Since Mary Shelburne-Grey connected the spread of the tune across the world with a satellite launched by Bolivia, her plan to put it out of service was blocked by the indecision caused by the post-hypnotic suggestion carried by the tune.
The Inspector: ‘I could authorise you to shoot it down.’
Mary: ‘You may be Supreme Minister of the World, Inspector, but you don’t have that authority until the United Nations Security Council gives you it. Our ambassador vetoed his own proposal because Russia and China indicated they thought he was wrong! We’ll never get the authorisation!’

It doesn’t seem beyond W.I.T.’s ability to track down anyone who’s travelled with the Inspector,
but for it to take five years for Mary Shelburne-Grey to turn up seeking Emerald, seems a bit far-fetched.

The Inspector and Emerald return to W.I.T. headquarters in 2024
and discover that everyone has been restore to life, leading Mary Shelburne-Grey to reveal something very important.
‘As it turns out, the NHS has been genetically profiling people for decades, without anyone’s knowing. We linked to the secret NHS server and discovered a match for Emerald.’

Mary Shelburne-Grey sends the Inspector a message, thanking him for all he’s done for W.I.T. and the Earth,
just before she succumbs to the waters of Anubis.

Emerald wanted answers to what was going on, so she entered the temporal projector
without the Inspector’s or Mary Shelburne-Grey’s permission.

It was great to see Mary Shelburne-Grey and the World Intelligence Team during the 60th Anniversary Specials.
But, have we seen the last of them, or is that rumoured spin-off featuring W.I.T. actually going to happen?

Being a reality warper, the Tinker has no trouble at all taking over W.I.T.’s weaponry for his own use.
Which he uses to threaten W.I.T. personnel for his own amusement. The Inspector, of course, puts himself in the line of fire, even knowing that it will likely cause his reincarnation.

With such perfect timing that is only seen on television or in films,
Mary Shelburne-Grey and Veneziana stride out of W.I.T. headquarters before the building suddenly starts collapsing behind them.

Although Mary agreed to cooperate with Daeif and the Circuit Chaps, it was very clear that she was expecting help from the Inspector to prevent her integration into the evil robots.
The Inspector ended up helping, in the form of a hologram that told Veneziana which switch to throw to power down the building and stave off the Circuit Chaps’ conversation process.
‘Oh! Could up just yank that switch there? That’d be great!’

It was certainly a good thing that Veneziana kept the parachute Mary gave her,
considering how far she ended up falling down the lift shaft once Daeif identified her as a threat to his plan.

Never a good situation when the only way out is up. Naturally, Mary Shelburne-Grey is crazy prepared for just such an occasion, giving Dynamo and Veneziana parachutes.
Wait, parachutes? As if they could base-jump without Daeif and the Circuit Chaps noticing.

It is sorta neat that Mary Shelburne-Grey hires the Inspector’s former Associates at W.I.T.
It’s similar to the time that Joanna Martin joined Peacemist, which was mostly an opportunity to bring a familiar face to the spin-off.

Mary and Veneziana barely escape as W.I.T. headquarters comes tumbling down,
hopefully burying what’s left of the Circuit Chaps under tonnes of concrete and steel.

Venenziana manages to get to the doomsday device just in time before Mary Shelburne-Grey faces integration into a Circuit Chap.
Flip the switch and ... no more power!
