One of these days I'll make a proper post about how this show, Alan Ball's Here and Now, was one of the greatest shows that never really were, how brilliantly genre defying it proved to be, and how ahead of its time it was. The fact that barely anyone even ever gave it a chance is still such a major bummer, even six years after it was cancelled. And now it's even fallen victim to that asshole David Zaslav's delete-it-from-existence tax breaks. Ugh.

🚨🟢 Martyr Izz El-Din Al-Qassam Brigades spokesperson Abu Obeida issued a speech today announcing the martyrdom of the commander-in-chief of the Qassam Brigades Mohammed Deif and resistance leaders from the General Military Council of the Al-Qassam Brigades as part of Al-Aqsa Flood battle:
—
O people of martyrs, the factory of men and heroes, O mujahideen and resistance fighters of our nation, O masses of our Arab and Islamic Ummah, and O free people of the world everywhere, peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
With all pride, honor, and dignity, after completing all necessary procedures and addressing all security concerns imposed by the conditions of battle and the field, after conducting the necessary verifications and taking all relevant measures, the Al-Qassam Brigades announce to our great people, to our Ummah, and to all supporters of freedom and resistance around the world, the martyrdom of a group of great mujahideen and heroic leaders from the General Military Council of the Al-Qassam Brigades:
- The great martyr of the Ummah, Commander Mohammed Deif (Abu Khaled), Commander-in-Chief of Al-Qassam Brigades.
- The great martyr commander Marwan Issa (Abu Al-Bara), Deputy Chief of Staff of Al-Qassam Brigades.
- The martyred mujahid commander Ghazi Abu Tam’a (Abu Musa), Head of the Weapons and Combat Services Division.
- The martyred heroic commander Raed Thabet (Abu Mohammed), Head of the Manpower Division.
- The martyred heroic commander Rafiq Salama (Abu Mohammed), Commander of the Khan Younis Brigade.
We had previously announced during the battle the martyrdom of two other commanders:
- Ahmed Al-Ghandour (Abu Anas), Commander of the Northern Brigade.
- Ayman Nofal (Abu Ahmed), Commander of the Central Brigade.
May Allah have mercy on them and be pleased with them. Peace be upon their pure souls and upon all the martyrs of our people.
All these great men were martyred facing the enemy in the midst of the Al-Aqsa Flood Battle—whether in leadership operation rooms, in direct engagements with enemy forces on the battlefield, or while overseeing and organizing the battle.
Our martyred leaders achieved their ultimate wish—martyrdom in the path of Allah—as the blessed conclusion of a life filled with devotion to Allah, and then for their freedom, their sanctities, and their land.
They sacrificed their lives to seal with their pure blood their sincerity and dedication, declaring that their blood is no more precious than that of any Palestinian child on this land. They were truthful to Allah, and He was truthful to them. We do not elevate anyone above Allah.
As we bid farewell to these great leaders on their journey to paradise, we affirm that these senior commanders fought and were martyred for their faith, their homeland, and Al-Aqsa.
They were killed in the greatest battle our people have ever known, for the holiest cause on earth, at the hands of the vilest and most despised of God's creation. And they were victorious—by inspiring millions of our people and our Ummah to carry the banner alongside them and after them, by the will of Allah.
Our martyrs were victorious when they passed the banner to steadfast and steadfast leaders—their comrades-in-arms, who, with Allah’s strength, will never know defeat.
These martyred commanders departed after a life of immense struggle, during which they fought heroic battles, inflicted heavy losses on the enemy, and placed its downfall and defeat on an inevitable path.
This is the legacy of our leader, Mohammed Deif (Abu Khaled)—who exhausted the enemy for over 30 years. How could Mohammed Deif be remembered in history without the title of martyr and the honor of martyrdom in the path of Allah?
How could Marwan Issa, the mastermind of Al-Qassam and its steadfast pillar, die in his bed? How could Abu Musa, the wise fighter and exceptional leader, or Raed Thabet, the towering mountain, not sacrifice their lives for Al-Aqsa?
How could our heroic brigade commanders—Ahmed Al-Ghandour, Ayman Nofal, and Rafiq Salama—not lead from the front alongside thousands of their fighting brothers and sacrifice their blood, after plunging a poisoned dagger into the heart of the enemy in Al-Aqsa Flood? The trade was indeed successful, O great ones!
Blessed are you, O our martyred leaders, your families, your children, and the people who nurtured you, embraced you, and stood by you in your lives—and will continue on your path after your passing until your aspirations are fulfilled, and your struggle achieves victory.
Glad tidings to you, O our leaders, and to all the martyrs of our people—those who were killed in the path of Allah—for He will not waste their deeds. He will guide them, improve their state, and admit them into paradise, which He has prepared for them.

What happened on the second day of Ramadan throughout history?
On the second day of Ramadan throughout history, the Umayyads began building the city of Kairouan, Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan became the Umayyad caliph, the Battle of Tours was fought and sociologist Ibn Khaldun was born.
According to heritage researcher Wassim Afifi, the year 50 Hijri was the most important in Africa’s history as this is when Africa entered its strong era with Uqba ibn Nafi.
The city of Kairouan was built in 50 Hijri. Uqba knew that the only way to maintain Africa and spread Islam was to establish a city where Muslims can be stationed. He thus founded Kairouan and built a mosque.
Afifi said on the second day of Ramadan in 65 Hijri, Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan became caliph of the Umayyads. His era marked the end of strife which the Islamic state had suffered from.
Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan was born in 26 Hijri and he was raised and educated in Medina. He later moved to Damascus and studied religion.
He issued the first Islamic currency and this was a major economic step that liberated the Islamic state’s economy from dependence on foreign currencies.
Also on the second day of Ramadan, the Battle of Tours was fought. The battle marked the worst defeat in the history of Islam in Andalusia as it cost Muslims a lot and led to the death of Abdul Rahman Al Ghafiqi.
The battle was between Frankish and Burgundian forces led by Charles Martel and an army of the Umayyad Caliphate led by Ghafiqi, Governor-General of al-Andalus, and it was fought in an area between the French cities of Poitiers and Tours.
Also on the second day of Ramadan, Ibn Khaldun was born in Tunisia in 732 Hijri.
He studied Arabic linguistics and the Quran which he memorized by heart. He also studied fiqh (jurisprudence) and logic and philosophy.
After serving African rulers for years, Ibn Khaldun went to Granada in Andalusia but following plots against him he returned to Africa and stayed in the town of Qalat Ibn Salama in Algeria. This is where he began writing his famous book the Book of Lessons in which he presented new theories in sociology and history.
Ibn Khaldun passed away in Egypt in 808 Hijri at 78 years old and he was buried in the Sufis’ graveyard in Bab al-Nasr in north Cairo.

Why did Bo breakup with Chester?

This was such a chaotic season finale and there was A LOT to unpack, but lets discuss the Chester and Bo breakup...What the hell happened there?!?
I thought the writers would give us insights as to what transpired at the pre V-day party, but they never did. And Bo never gave a clear answer as to why he wanted to end the relationship with Chester. So here I am trying to decipher it on my own.
I don't believe the breakup has anything to do with Chester's boisterous ways because I'm pretty sure Bo knew exactly what type of personality he was getting himself involved with...Chester never hid that from him. And I don't believe the whole fake relationship with Nathan played a major part in it either. I think this was mostly driven by Bo's own insecurities within their dynamic. He never came around to understanding or accepting why Chester would choose to be with a person like him, who's ultimately his polar opposite...and the signs of these doubts have been there all along. Like during episode 15 when they went on the vday date, some of the 1st questions he asked Chester during the truth telling game were "Do you think I'm a little basic?" "Do you think I'm a good kisser?" "Did you go to the bathroom to check your phone?"...all asked in very cheeky flirty ways, but these are serious questions that bring to light those clear signs of his insecurities. But I don't believe that's Chester's fault....I dont believe he ever made him feel less than. In fact Chester gave his all to Bo and this relationship and perhaps that was too much for Bo to handle.
But what was the breaking point? Why end the ship so abruptly, when things were seemingly going fine? Well this brings me back to the walking chaos that is Megan and the small conversation she had with Bo at the pre party. Megan's passive aggressive words were quite triggering for Bo. I think it confirmed what he's been feeling this whole time about himself in this relationship and hearing the words out loud validated his fears of not being good enough for Chester. That there are other people better suited to be with Chester. And although those weren't the exact words she said, that reality check gave him the helping hand he needed to end things with Chester. This also touches on the reoccurring theme of lies and how much Bo hates them; and there he was inadvertently caught in one with Megan.
Ultimately Bo let his insecurities get the best of him. And I understand that if he didn't feel like an equal in the relationship he should've def left. I was just hoping for some closure, cuz Chester deserved at least an explanation. And if he likes him as much as he said he does, then he should've been respectful enough to give him an answer.
So let's just hope it's Bo he sees at the end of the episode..and if not Bo, Nathan. But honestly at this point it could be Sam....

The Story... Conservative radio personality Rick Egan (Tracy Letts) lost his platform in the wake of 9/11 for spreading xenophobic rumors surrounding a group of missing Muslim teenagers. Eight years later, a washed-up Rick is slumming it on the convention circuit when a mysterious woman (Christina Hendricks) presents a tantalizing revelation: One of the missing teens is back. This sends Rick on a quest for vindication as he follows a trail of unfathomable events. He is left face to face with the true culprit…The Blank (Taran Killam), a faceless sound parasite that thrives on the air of hatred. Rick receives a Faustian bargain from the mysterious entity and is about to find out exactly how far he will go to claw his way back to the top.
From Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions, Quiet Part Loud is an audio horror fable that explores the terrifying power of a violent, virulent and unrelenting lie. It’s a haunting parable of monsters both human and otherworldly and a fictional but unflinching examination of the current animosity, fear and divisiveness in America.
With the use of immersive audio and sound design, Quiet Part Loud stands out from other horror narrative podcasts. The show consists of 12 bite-sized episodes that will be available for listeners to binge all at once.
