Who is...Theresa Cassidy | Siryn? - A Reading Guide

Theresa "Terry" Cassidy is an X-Men affiliated mutant from Marvel Comics first introduced in 1980. Terry is the daughter of Sean Cassidy (Banshee) and was raised by Tom Cassidy (Black Tom Cassidy) and Cain Marko (Juggernaut). She possesses her father's super-sonic scream and a hypnotic voice. Terry is most known for her affiliation with teams like X-Force and X-Factor, and having taken on the mantle of the ancient goddess, the Morrigan, in the 2010s.

Terry's central story deals with topics that may be triggering such as alcoholism, infant death (X-Factor 2005), and suicide (X-Factor 2020). Crime and Muir Island

Terry's appearances open with her as a criminal alongside Black Tom Cassidy and the Juggernaut. Her heart, however, was not in it, and Tom helped her to reunite with her father, Sean, and Terry then split her time between her father's home and the Muir Island Mutant Research Facility.

X-Force

Terry initially joined X-Force to stop her former father-figures, Tom and Cain, from bombing the World Trade Center but stayed with the team for its entire duration. While on the team Terry would become deputy leader, and with the help of Warpath would recover from alcoholism. Towards the end of the team's tenure Terry lost her voice and subsequently her powers- and would regain her voice/powers (bad), lose them again, and then regain her voice/powers again (good) with the help of her recurring romantic mistake, Deadpool.

X-Corps and X-Corporation

Despite what the name might suggest, these are in fact different things. Terry's father, Sean, formed the paramilitary X-Corps, which was frankly a disaster that had to be reigned in by the X-Men, leaving Sean wounded. Terry joined X-Corporation, a secret branch of the X-Men who operated internationally.

X-Factor Investigations

Following the events of M-Day, Terry would join X-Factor Investigations and restart her relationship with Jamie Madrox that had first started back on Muir Island. During this period of time, Terry and Jamie lose their baby, and Terry will come to take on the mantle of the Morrigan.

Krakoa

After disappearing from comics for around 6-7 years following becoming an ancient Irish sovereignty, war, and death deity- Terry, like many mutants, came back on the mutant island nation of Krakoa. Things were not quite paradise here for her courtesy of some things with her dad (not his fault this time)- and also Leah Williams' complete bastardization of the Morrigan arc (in X-Factor 2020) which was literally Terry's last appearances, how fucking hard is it to read like 5 issues of comics Leah? How fucking hard could it possibly be? Terry has less than 300 appearances, get it together.

The Great Ties

In round 1, as we all know, Darby and Jack tied exactly at 85 votes apiece. It was decided they would both move on to round 2 in order to duke it out once more. Then they both lost. Darby lost to The Butcher by 20 votes and Jack lost to Trish Adora by 35 votes. This marks the end of both of their journeys with Darby getting a total of 193 votes and Jack finishing one slot above him at 216 total votes.

No one brought it up, but there was a tie in round 2 as well. Both Kota Ibushi and Mr. Brodie Lee earned a total of 79 votes. Working from the great tradition of precedent, they'll both be moving on to round 3.

Today is Marko's 17 birthday . He decided against the idea of a " Sweet 17 Birthday Party " although his mother always reminded him from a very young age and since he was a little boy the same thing .

" You turn 17 only once in your entire lifetime . "

In which he always responded to her with the same answer every year.

" It's okay mom . Besides that , I don't want a birthday party . I just want to spend the day with the people I love . "

The people he loves . . . His parents and his close friends . . . Her . . .

Y/N was something else .

She was his best friend since they were both toddlers . They grew up together . They did everything together . They went to the same elementary , middle school and now high school . They were always together . Marko and Y/N , Y/N and Marko . Even if they fought a lot of times , in the end of the day they would always apologize to each other and go for a nice walk while eating ice cream . He would always have her back in everything and she would always support him in every stupid decision that he took even if it was dangerous for the both of them . They were in this life together . Every Friday after school they would always go in his house for dinner and then , they would watch all the Jackass movies all over again . Sometimes when she feel asleep over at his house , they would wake up early in the morning to watch SpongeBob SquarePants and the spend their Saturday going in rides with his bike , eating , playing , talking and laughing non stop . They knew everything about each other . They were inseparable and they completed each other .

He jumped out of his thoughts when he heard the familiar notification tone coming from his phone .

He was sure it was her . It had to be her . Besides , who else could it be on a Thursday morning ?

" Happy Birthday to the best friend ever . I want you to know that I'm so proud of you and I love you so freaking much that I would die for you . I wish you the most Happy Birthday and now I want you to come down because I have a present for you . " Y/N had just sended to him .

He open his bedroom door and streamed downstairs to his front door, just to open it and see her standing outside - with her glasses that he made fan of because he loved them so much on her - with a big gift bag on her hands .

' ' I see that you've got my text . Happy - ' ' She didn't get to finish her sentence , when his arms wrapped around her in a tight and warm hug .

' ' Thank you so much Y/N , you didn't have too . ' ' He said to her while hugging her .

' ' Marco what are you even doing outside in the cold with just your pyjamas . If you catch a cold I swear to God I - Oh Hello Y/N come inside honey . ' ' Marco's mother said from the doorway .

Both of them went inside for Marko to get ready and then to open his gift .

' ' What did you got me ? I'm kinda of anxious . ' ' He said to her .

' ' Open and find out . ' ' She answered to him while smiling .

He started to unwrap his gift and when he finally understood what she got him he stopped and pulled her in the most tight hug ever .

' ' I can't believe that you got me a Valentino Rossi helmet . Thank you so much . ' ' He said to her with the biggest smile on his face .

' ' You are welcome . I love you . ' ' She said to him and with that his heart started beating faster and his head felt heavy .

' ' I can't wait for your birthday in December . ' ' He said to her and with that they made their way to school .

And indeed he waited until the 23st of December Y/N's 15th birthday. He knew he couldn't go to her house . Her father was kinda weird because Marco was 2 years older than her . Although Y/N's and Marco's mom decided to throw a small birthday party in the near cafeteria that the teenagers loved to hang out with their close friends.

But little did they know that after that everything gonna go downfall .

Saturday , 23 December 2017 ( 2 years later )

After finishing high school , Marco focused on his career as a Moto 3 Junior World Championship . At first he didn'y really noticed that him and Y/N throughout these 2 years had slowly separated from each other . He thought that because of his tight schedule and her being in her senior of high school, they just couldn't see each other very often.

Even if Marco wished her a ' ' Sweet 17 Happy Birthday ' ' the situation remained the same until Easter Break .

' ' So how's racing ? ' ' Y/N asked him while they were walking .

' ' It's going so good . It's great actually . I think I might have chances to move to Moto 2 . ' ' He said to her with a smile .

' ' You did it . Your dream came true . I am so proud and happy for you. I wish I could change things to see you more but with the school and the studying for the final exams it's really hard . ' ' She said to him with sad eyes .

He instantly felt bad and he hugged her hoping that it would make her feel better .

June 2018 ( 5 month's later )

They didn't spoke to each other for over 4 months . Everyone thought that they had a huge fight and that they stopped being friends , some other wanted desperately to ask and some other who knew better acted like they didn't care . They kept their mouths shut .

Marco was able to go up to Moto 2 and join the Red Bull KTM Tech 3 team while Y/N had managed to get accepted to her dream university in Rome .

September 2018 ( 4 months later )

Marco was able to go back to Rimini to see his family and his friends . Mostly he wanted to go back home becuase he owns an apology to Y/N . After his last race he made it to the 3rd place in the championship standings and he wanted to inform Y/N that he will be back for one week to celebrate .

But when he opened up his phone and checked his messages , he saw that Y/N and him had last exchanged messages almost 3 months ago .

What made him thought to think of the worst possible things was the last message to him 2 months ago .

"Hey I know that you are busy with all this racing stuff but I just wanted you to know that I'll move to Rome in late September . Remember that everything you can imagine is real . I love you Marko."

He responded late to her last message demanding an explanation.

"Please just answer me when you're gonna come back home. I'm scared for you right now. " He texted her and with that he immediately left to go to the airport.

"Mom just please answer to my questions. " He shouted. The whole house turns cold. His mother is holding back her tears while looking down .

"I swear if you don't answer me if she's okay I'm gonna go over to her house. "

When his mother didn't responded to him for onse more he scoffed and went to leave the kitchen.

Before he could make it to the front door his mother had stopped him right on his tracks with only one sentence.

"Her mother sent her away after she found out that she was self-harming. She was abused by her father. An alcoholic. "

And for a couple of seconds all he could hear was a white noise...

All he could see was a dark rook with her crying quietly in it...

It's all making sense .

He was laying in his bed with his eyes closed but he wasn't sleeping.

He was wide awake.

All kinds off thoughts turned around in his head making him feel dizzy.

He went back to all their memories together.

That's why he never went in her house.

That's why she never went on calls with him when she was at her house.

That's why she never sented him voice messages or videos.

That's why she was against alcohol and drugs.

That why she wanted to leave her home.

He wanted to scream until his throat hurt.

Why didn't he recognized the signs?

Why didn't he connect the dots?

Why didn't she asked for help?

What didn't he confessed his love for her?

He always promised her that he would be by her side forever.

Why?

When he asked his mother if he should go now or in a couple of days to find her , his mom said that he shouldn't go at all.

"Don't go. She wouldn't want you to lose an important race. Let's leave her alone for some time. She needs to fell free and safe. "

With that Marco murmured something under his breath and went to bed to sleep.

He was proud of her for leaving but he knew that she was alone and needed someone.

Marco cried that night.

January 2019 ( present )

Marko was standing outside of her door in her complex apartment in Rome.

Besides him there was sitting quietly a grey female Pittbull waiting for him to do something.

The dog let out a small bark letting her owner know that she was bored and that he needed to make a move.

Marco looked at his dog and he petted her in the head before he took out the spare key that Y/N's mother gave to him.

Things have gotten pretty bad these last 4 months. Y/N was struggling emotionally and Marco was missing her more than anything.

He didn't have any more patience and he decided to take the matter in his own hands by communicating with her mother.

Right now he was standing in the middle of her small but cozy apartment and he could tell by the scattered books everywhere in the place that she lived in here.

He knew that she wouldn't mind him being here.

He took of his shoes and he searched for her.

She wasn't in the kitchen. She was certainly not in leaving room. She must be in her bedroom sleeping. He thought to himself walking to the only room in the house except of the bathroom.

And there she was.

Asleep.

He felt like he was invading her privacy so he went back to her leaving room to sit on the couch.

Pass the time by reading some of her books.

She woke up feeling something really close to her face.

Something weird sniffing her.

She reached her right hand to grab her glasses by the nightstand.

A grey happy Pittbull was on top of her bed looking at her and waging her tail.

She immediately knew that Marco was here.

Tears started forming their way in her eyes while she petted the sweet dog on the head.

She got up walking quietly towards her leaving room , when she came across him sitting on her couch reading on of her books.

He was faster than her. Always. He looked up from the book and locked gazes with her.

The tears finally escaped her eyes and before she knew it , he trapped her in his hug.

That tight and warm hug of his that she couldn't get enough of .

' ' Jump . ' ' Marco said quietly to her and when she did it he went back to the couch with her.

She was crying softly on his solder while he was holding her like he would never see her again.

Like this was their last time.

He took some deep breaths trying to remember her scent that he had forgotten.

"Can I convince you to stay?" She asked him still hugging him.

"Letting you go was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. "

"I'm not leaving you ever again. " He said to her.

Marco grabbed Y/N's face with his palms and he looked at her closely.

God how much he loved her. He loved everything about her. Her glasses. Her eyes , her nose ... her lips ... her lips ...

And then he kissed her softly. Finally feeling alive again.

She kissed him back and after so many years of hidden pain and suffering , she felt like she could breathe again.

Spider-Man Read-Through BONUS: Marvel Team-Up 2 (#36-79)

Continuing the same concept as the previous post, that is, a quick catch-up to not miss anything regarding Peter's social life.

In #36, Spider-Man fights with Frankenstein's monster. As in, they fight enemies together! That's nice. Peter says that with Gwen's clone, he's more inclined to believe in ridiculous stuff like his acolyte's existence. They try to save a woman in distress, but it was actually a SHIELD agent in disguise, who's after the monster-maker that trapped Spidey and Frankenstein's monster in the first place!

It's fun to see the three of them as allies. The monster eventually finds Spidey about to fight... Man-Wolf!

In #37, the story continues and the (hot) monster-maker traps Spidey and Frankenstein's monster AGAIN.

What an unfortunate bubble.

Don't worry, they escape. Again. Meanwhile, the SHIELD agent is with Man-Wolf, who eventually protects her from actual wolves. She flees at the first chance. Spidey soon finds Man-Wolf, and, uh...

Malehood, huh...

Well, that's just sad. That was a nice duo of issues!

#38 time!

Spidey meets Beast. They have a nice dynamic. Spidey also assaults a rich old lady!

In #39, meets an adorable kid, Manuel (I refuse to call him "Mosquito", his surname). Manuel has a tight relationship with pigeons, and I assume this is where Spidey's whole thing with pigeons (ITSV, Insomniac's SM) started.

Their cute scene is interrupted by an evil MEANIE who shoots a pigeon dead :(

Meanwhile, the Human Torch meets an Enforcer again (ASM 19!) Shenanigans ensue.

I prefer this outfit too, Marko.

#40 features a nice starting spread.

It's non-stop action, but the panels are entertaining!

So uh, anyway, Foswell had a daughter and now she's dead :(

In 41, Wanda Maximoff gets stoned.

Hahaha.

More importantly, 42 features this ad:

And we get to see Dr Doom, nice!

#43 is sure eventful, and #44 offers a really dark panel, what the hell.

In #45, Spidey hits Green Gobl'MJ. I will not explain further. In #46, time travel still (handy to not be too trapped by ASM's continuity).

Captain Jean DeWolff's introduced in #48, which sucks, but at least now I know who she is. She's very hardboiled, and her team up with Spidey and Iron Man is really nice.

It's juicy, even!

The Wraith is Jean's brother's brainwashed resurrected body, but the actual mastermind is Philip himself. It's actually a solid plot and it's wild that it was confined to Team-Up. And it lasts several issues too (48-51)!

In #52, SSM #1 is referenced!

In #53, we get a nice spread.

In #63, Misty Knight's there and she slays.

In #65, Peter has to house Brian Braddock, an English exchange student. He even introduces him to the Coffee Bean Gang, that's nice! But Brian is actually suspected of being Captain Britain by the EU branch of the Maggia, which wants to eliminate him.

Continuity in the apartment, nice! Brian barely catches Peter leaving his apartment costumed, and suspects Spidey might have abducted him. He transforms into Captain Britain to save him. That's actually a neat concept, but as usual, I wish it didn't focus so much on their fight. Still, I ship these two dudes.

You get it. I do think TU gets more interesting as it goes on, but the gimmick (teaming up with other heroes) ultimately prevents it from having too compelling stories for now.

#66 continues the storyline and traps both our heroes in a giant pinball machine, which is great. I hope we get to see more of this villain, Arcade.

#68 is a wild one. Peter and MJ go to the circus, see Man-Thing, then shenanigans happen and suddenly your 13 year old self's OC appears.

Uh-uh alright lmao.

72 finally continues the Jean/Wraith plot.

I love Jean's outfit in this one.

Her brother is alright now, yay <3

In #73, Peter asks Matt Murdock for help but the latter is distracted by the Owl.

In #74, Stan Lee's here!

MJ, I love you.

Oh I love this!!!! We also see Bill Murray, Dan Ackroyd, John Belushi, and probably other names I don't know about. I breeze through the issue, but it still has some of my interest.

Oh, MJ <3 There's a lot of battles but it's an uncharacteristically good issue. I might actually add it to my Recommendations post!

I thought it would be revealed to be in Peter's mind, but it seems not. It very much seems like MJ knows about Peter's identity, doesn't it?

In #75... Well first of all, I love the look of this place.

Andre and MJ proceed to kiss, and Peter's not very charmed. I love MJ's outfit in the first panel, it's really cool. The issue also sees the return of Luke Cage.

#76 time!

I kinda love that first page but also what's up with Peter having the Three of Swords on his crotch?

Oof. The only other things I stopped on were Ms. Marvel's civilian persona looking gorgeous, and Peter looking gorgeous too.

I see we have the same priorities!

In #77, that suit is drawn wonderfully.

I think it's the heavy shading, I really love it.

In #79, we learn that Jameson fired Carol Danvers (I beg your pardon? Oh, that's funny. I wonder how many super heroes he recruited without knowing it.)

She's so funny, I love her.

The museum's in flames, Peter goes as Spidey to investigate, MJ wants to know where he goes every time but her internal monologue says she doesn't know he's Spider-Man, so... a bit inconsistent here.

Then THAT happens.

Forever wondering why there's not more of a creative fan community around Spidey because there's truly something for everyone.

Intrigued by a sword, MJ takes it and gets possesed Red Sonja, skimpy clothes and everything, hell yeah!

We get a nice ending, with MJ transforming back into herself, unaware of what happened, and Peter throwing the magical item in the ocean as a pink cloud shaped like Sonja looks over him.

I met the boys in Max’s video store when I was reaching for the same copy of Fright Night as Paul. We decided that we can both watch it and I invited him and the others back to my house. It only took a month of hanging out on the boardwalk and going to the movies to watch whatever slasher flick was on until they told me the truth about who they were, but watching so many vampire movies got me having my suspicions anyway, and it wasn’t soon after that we all started dating.

“Ok. Dwayne. The Evil Dead or Dracula AD 1972?” I asked covering Marko’s mouth with my hand to make him stop trying to persuade the others into choosing Dracula.

“Evil Dead,” he answered, “we are always watching vampire movies and it’s getting boring.”

“AH-HA,” I shouted, taking my hand away from Marko’s mouth to do a victory air punch.

“NO! YOU FUCKING SEDUCED HIM LAST NIGHT NIGHT OR SOMETHING TO SAY THAT DIDN’T YOU!” He crossed his arms and turned to Paul entering the room with three bags of popcorn, “PAUL! You know you love me and you love Dracula aswell..”

“Dracula AD 72?” He inquired putting the food on the table. Marko nodded with a wide smile. “Then obviously we should watch Dracula then.”

“The betrayal,” I breathed as I looked at the blonde boy who shrugged in apologies and sat down.

Marko turned his head to me and stuck his tongue out in mockery. My last chance was David who just walked in with the drinks. “David. David. David.”

“Yes, my sweet angel,” he pushes a stand of hair behind my ears and kissed me on the cheek, being a complete juxtaposition from mine and Marko’s energy right now.

“What would you rather watch. Another vampire film you probably saw in theatres in 1972 and multiple times again or a brand new brilliant, unique film?” I asked with a sweet smile.

“Probably the latter,” David answered sitting beside Dwayne. Both Marko and I cheered in victory. Turns out Marko didn’t understand what latter was and thought he won.

“Favouritism,” he scoffed.

I sat between Paul and Marko. Marko sat with a frown on his face and arms crossed as he sulked. Paul however was shitting himself with fear, he may act like a big bad vampire but really he was just a big softie scared of horror movies. I laid my head on Paul’s shoulder but looked at Marko and held his hand, this brightened his mood. Marko and I argue often on what movie to watch on our movie Mondays but we usually enjoy whatever movie we watch anyway.
