The Great Pro-Wrestling Adventure Hour - 021 10/05/23 Defy TV 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM EST Filmed at the Good Time Theatre at Dorney Park in Allentown, Pennsylvania
SEGMENT ONE (EIGHT MINUTES):
Tumblr media
- Our show this week opened with Sudu Upadhyay voicing over still images from CORE's live event at the Bloomsburg Fair. We then join Sudu and Raven at the commentary booth where Sudu announced that as part of CORE's landmark strategic alliance, we will be joined by special guests from All Style Pro Wrestling and GLEAT. One of ASPW's top luchadores Tromba will be in action and from GLEAT we are joined by blue chip young wrestler Tetsuya Izuchi and referee Soft Imai. Raven said he had some special guests of his own, and with that the lights in the building were replaced by the glow of black lights and smoke began to fill the studio. Six individuals wearing make-up and fluorescent outfits ran into the frame and began to take turns sliding on their hands and knees in front of commentary booth, the metal they attached to their bodies sent sparks shooting up. Raven welcomed the slider scare actors from Dorney Park's Haunt event to the set. Sudu was impressed but confused by the display. Raven said as a special treat for the viewers during commercial breaks the scare actors will be giving Sudu a spooky slider makeover and at the end of the program Sudu will perform a slide of his own. Sudu said he never agreed to this, but Raven told him that the viewers are already looking forward to it and Sudu wouldn't want to disappoint them.
- The Great Pro-Wrestling Adventure Hour opening aired set to "Black Swan Lake" by Janko Nilovic.
Tumblr media
Queen Aminata and Raychell Rose vs. Gin Sevani and Gypsy Mac Queen Aminata and Raychell Rose defeated Gin Sevani and Gypsy Mac with a spear from Rose on Mac. (3:45)
Tumblr media
- A music video aired set to "No estamos solas" by Ana Tijoux promoting a new tag team making their debut next week, two wrestlers from Chile that have made a name for themselves in CMLL and rings around the world, Stephanie Vaquer and La Catalina.
SEGMENT TWO (EIGHT MINUTES):
Tumblr media
Tetsuya Izuchi vs. KUUKAI Tetsuya Izuchi defeated KUUKAI via submission with a hammerlock in full guard. (4:09)
Tumblr media
- Following the match we join Daphne Oz at the CORE news desk from the COal REgion Roundup. - Daphne first sends us to comments from Fuego Del Sol on his unlikely alliance with Giant Baba Yaga. After weeks of coming to the aid of local talent that were being attacked by The Production, he never anticipated that it would be Giant Baba Yaga that would be there in his time of need. Fuego said that he and Baba will team up later today to face Derek Dillinger and Magnum CK, and after that we'll just have to see what the future holds. Regardless, Fuego is confident it will end better for him than it did for Jake Something and Vincent Nothing. - Next up we get comments from the folkstyle team of Shaw Mason, Tim Bosby, and Hunter Holdcraft. They expressed a desire to get back to basics following their recent loss to the Southern 6. So they will be having a series of singles matches over the next three weeks against one another, the first of them to defeat both of their partners will go on to face "Filthy" Tom Lawlor at CORE's 15th Anniversary Show on October 27th in Jim Thorpe. - We are then sent to a video of Starboy Charlie at ringside at the Worldwide Dojo in Bristol, Pennsylvania where Marcus Mathers is in the ring doing a number on some of the students as he gets back in ring shape after the injury he received prior to Trios Kingdom. Alex Taylor then appeared to the apparent surprise of the two men. Taylor said he streamed the training session for Kerry Morton to see, and Kerry was so impressed he got Starboy and Mathers a match next week against Big Dan Champion and Joshua Bishop of the TrustBusters Reserve. - We close the segment out with Daphne Oz announcing the return of a familiar face. After a disappointing first run with CORE, the Von Trier brothers returned to the family ranch to regroup. After months of soul searching, next week one of the Von Triers will be back in CORE, Keith Von Trier. But as part of his journey, Keith has taken on a new moniker. So next week we will see Trench take on The Pennsylvania Polar Vortex.
SEGMENT THREE (SEVEN MINUTES):
Tumblr media
Black Generation International (Titus Alexander and Bendito) vs. Tromba and Mike Skyros Black Generation International defeated Tromba and Mike Skyros with the Chaos Theory from Alexander on Skyros. (4:47)
Tumblr media
- Disappointed with his assigned partner, Tromba attacked Mike Skyros after the loss. Tromba locked Skyros in a submission hold and refused to break it. CORE officials made their way toward the ring to put a stop to the attack, but one of them caught the attention of Titus Alexander as he made his way up the aisle. Alexander shoulder checked Jigsaw and then got in his face. Jigsaw tried to deescalate the situation while Alexander shouted for Jigsaw to let Eddie Kingston know that he wants his rematch. Local talent and CORE officials turned their attention to the altercation and got between the two as Skyros was left to cry out for help.
SEGMENT FOUR (NINE MINUTES):
Tumblr media
Giant Baba Yaga and Fuego Del Sol vs. The Production (Derek Dillinger and Magnum CK) Giant Baba Yaga and Fuego Del Sol defeated The Production with a running neckbreaker from Yaga on Magnum. (7:33)
SEGMENT FIVE (NINE MINUTES):
- Before the main event, we got a shot of the commentary booth where Sudu's slider makeover was near complete, his face painted like a skull, hair spiked up a sprayed with temporary hair color, and a neon colored spiked vest over his suit jacket.
Tumblr media
Sonny Kiss vs. Hyan - Hyan went for the busaiku knee on Sonny Kiss, but Sonny pulled referee Allison Leigh in the way to absorb the strike. With the referee down, Trench made his way toward the ring. Before Trench could interfere, referee Scarlette Donovan entered the ring and sent Trench to the back. While this was transpiring, Sonny Kiss placed an international object in their boot. Hyan got back to her feet but was met with a superkick with Sonny's loaded boot and pinned. Sonny Kiss defeated Hyan with a superkick. (7:07)
Tumblr media
- Sonny Kiss called the members of the TrustBusters Reserve to the ring after the match. Trench was first out but Big Dan Champion, Joshua Bishop, and Invictus Khash all looked reluctant to enter the ring. Sonny Kiss requested that two of them lift Sonny's arms in victory. Trench was first to volunteer, but Sonny wanted one of three longer tenured members to do it, with Big Dan and Bishop eventually performing the honors.
SEGMENT SIX (THREE MINUTES):
- The lights again went down and were replaced by black lights, smoke filled the set, the disco version of the Friday The 13th theme from Part III began to play, and Raven announced that it was time for Sudu Upadhyay's very first slide. Sudu ran into frame preparing to send sparks flying with a tremendous slide, but just then one of the scare actors hit Sudu with a drop toe hold into a steel chair. Raven began laughing uproariously and said that while Sudu had been training during commercials breaks to learn how to slide, he had been doing some training of his own showing some of the scare actors his favorite wrestling maneuvers.
Next week on The Great Pro-Wrestling Adventure Hour Starboy Charlie and Marcus Mathers vs. TrustBusters Reserve (Big Dan Champion and Joshua Bishop) Shaw Mason vs. Hunter Holdcraft Trench vs. "The Pennsylvania Polar Vortex" Keith Von Trier Also in action… Giant Baba Yaga and Fuego Del Sol and the CORE tag team debut of Stephanie Vaquer and La Catalina

Nehalennia
Nelahennia is a native Dutch Goddess who was mainly worshiped in the modern day province of Zeeland. Several altar stones have been found with depictions of this Goddess and even a temple which has been reconstructed. She wasn't however just worshiped in Zeeland but most likely in Belgica, parts of Britannia and parts of Germania Superior. Altar stones of her have appeared in modern day Cologne and Tongeren as well, showing the spread of this deity's influence by ancient Dutch traders and travelers.
It isn't however fully certain whether Nehalennia has her origins in Celtic or Germanic culture since the area of worship has influences of both cultures. Also the meaning of her name is uncertain but if the name is Celtic in origin, it could mean 'She near the sea', from the Proto-Celtic 'Halen' which means sea. Or if it is Germanic in origin it could mean 'close to the water', or 'she who leads over water', relying on the Proto-Germanic word Nehwa which means 'close'. Both meanings are interesting because they both depict attributes of this deity. It is of course also possible that the name has linquistic influences of both cultures.
So who is she and what does she stand for? Nehalennia is usually depicted sitting on a throne with a basket of fruits next to her and apples on her lap. To the right of her, there is an image of a dog and sometimes she gets depicted holding a cornucopia. She wears a long robe covered with a cloak and a pelerientje, a short cloak once worn by Dutch women. Nehalennia is the only deity in the world who wears a pelerientje, which is a clear clue that she is a regional deity.
Judging by her attributes we can assume that she is the Goddess of both death, the seas and fertility. The dog on her right sight is an ancient symbol of death or the underworld, based on the classic hellhounds which date all the way back to the Proto-Indo European culture. It isn't however 100% certain that the dog refers to death, it could also be a symbol of the north sea which was said to be 'ravaged by dogs' or a symbol of protection.
The basket with fruits and the cornucopia suggests that these are attributes representing fertility. The apple is a very important symbol in several ancient cultures and religions like, Hellenic paganism, Celtic paganism, Germanic paganism and Christian mythology. The apple can refer to wisdom or to an eternal/long life. Some of her altar stones have a ship's rudder on one of the sides or are decorated with sea shells on top, a clear indicator that she has a relationship with the sea and its travelers.
In total, around 160 depictions of her have been found. Unlike other native Dutch Goddessess, of which we only have one or two altar stones, this is a huge amount. The most spectacular find was perhaps the remains of a temple in Colijnsplaat, Zeeland. The temple was based on Roman architecture and has been reconstructed in Colijnsplaat and in the Archeon, Leiden. Rituals are still being held in both these temples in honour of Nehalennia to this very day, I have made my offerings to her in one of these two temples as well.
Some of the altar stones contain inscriptions which further proves our theory that she is a Goddess linked to the sea. Here is one such inscription made to ask for safe passage to Britain:
"To the goddess Nehalennia, on account of goods duly kept safe, Marcus Secundinius Silvanus, trader in pottery with Britain, fulfilled his vow willingly and deservedly."
Another inscription was made by a salt trader thanking her for what might have been a succesful and safe trade:
"For Nehalennia, Marcus Exingius Agricola, citizen from Trier, salt merchant in Cologne, has fulfilled his vow, gladly and with good reason "
It's clear now that travelers and traders who crossed the seas, vowed to Nehalennia for a safe passage across the wild waters of the north sea, confirming the theory that she is a guardian of those who cross seas, which might explain the dog at her right side if it is not a symbol of death.
Since her rediscovery in the 17th century, the Dutch have once more fully embraced this deity again. Even back when Christianity was the most dominant religion of the area, people couldn't help but be utterly fascinated by the discoveries of these altar stones. Nowadays Nehalennia has become a proud symbol of Zeeland and people are worshipping her in her temples once again. There is even a statue of her at the beach of Domburg, facing her dominion, the wild north sea.
Here are images of: Nehalennia altar stone, photographed by myself at the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden in Leiden, the Netherlands. The reconstructed temple in Colijnsplaat, the Netherlands. Artwork depicting Nehalennia, made by Thorskegga. Interior of her temple at the Archeon, the Netherlands. Statue of Nehalennia in Domburg, the Netherlands.

The Great Pro-Wrestling Adventure Hour - 010 07/20/23 Defy TV 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM EST Filmed at the Good Time Theatre at Dorney Park in Allentown, Pennsylvania
SEGMENT ONE (EIGHT MINUTES):
Tumblr media
- Sudu Upadhyay welcomed viewers back to another action packed episode and introduced "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko. Sudu asked if Zbyszko's Pittsburgh protection MV Young was joining them this week. Larry revealed he sent MV out scouring Planet Snoopy for Starboy Charlie and his Parade Of Pipsqueaks, and there was no sign of Marcus Mathers on Sally's Swingset or Brogan Finlay taking a ride on Woodstock's Wagon Wheel. Sudu said that Kylie Paige, the only member of that group that has shown their face in recent weeks, will be Jarek 1:20's guest later today on The Magic Shop.
- The Great Pro-Wrestling Adventure Hour opening aired set to "Black Swan Lake" by Janko Nilovic.
Tumblr media
Fuego Del Sol vs. Flash Carter Fuego Del Sol defeated Flash Carter with the tornado DDT. (4:05)
Tumblr media
- A video aired of Raychell Rose at the corner of North Shamokin and East Independence in downtown Shamokin, PA holding the envelope she received last week. The camera panned up to a sign above a recently leased storefront that reads UltraMantis Black's School of Professional Wrestling Management and Bartending. Stepping inside, a rather confused Raychell Rose was greeted by UltraMantis Black. Mantis explained that Athena had covered Raychell’s tuition. Sensing that Rose was no less confused, Mantis explained that while running for political office he made some friends in local government and expressed his concerns about unqualified wrestling managers mishandling their clients. So a state board was created in Pennsylvania, which he is also the chairman of, to handle licensing requirements for all wrestling managers. All prospective wrestling managers will be required to complete 100 hours of classroom education (this being the first and currently only approved school) and another 10 hours of supervised work managing assigned clients. Just then Slick and Jimmy Hart walked through the front door and UltraMantis introduced them to Raychell as two of her instructors. Raychell pointed off screen and asked if that was Vickie Guerrero and if she'd be one of her instructors too. Mantis explained it is her but that no, she's here to sign up for the bartending school.
SEGMENT TWO (EIGHT MINUTES):
Tumblr media
TrustBusters Reserve (Big Dan Champion and Trench) vs. Anakin Murphy and Victor Analog TrustBusters Reserve defeated Anakin Murphy and Victor Analog with a powerslam from Big Dan on Murphy. (3:28)
- Following the match, Big Dan Champion made his way to the commentary booth and announced that starting next week will be the Trench Trial Series. Trench will compete in a series of seven matches against opponents selected by Ari Daivari and after the trial series comes to a close his performance will be evaluated and his future in the TrustBusters will be decided.
Tumblr media
- A video aired of Tribe Elder Afa Jr. in a private dressing room with Sean Maluta and Journey Fatu. After demanding and receiving the proper amount of appreciation from the other members of The Family Tree, Afa Jr. called for his legal advisor, The Smart Guy. Tod Gordon entered the room, and after also showing the proper appreciation for the Tribe Elder, Gordon confirmed their Trios Kingdom qualifying match next week against the Von Triers. Afa seemed pleased with this, but soon took umbrage with Sean Maluta who apparently didn't look happy enough. Afa demanded to know that Maluta appreciated him. Journey Fatu assured Afa that they both appreciated their uce, but Afa Jr. narrowed his eyes at both of them while The Smart Guy began to stammer as his eyes bugged out.
SEGMENT THREE (NINE MINUTES):
Tumblr media
- We returned from commercial to the CORE news desk and Daphne Oz with the Coal Region Roundup. - Daphne Oz announced the next two teams receiving automatic entry into Trios Kingdom 2023. Representing the JUST TAP OUT organization in Japan, it will be Ren Ayabe, Fire Katsumi, and Akira Juumonji. The second team will be joining CORE from the GLEAT promotion in Japan, representing Black Generation International it will be Kaito Ishida, Flamita, and Yutani. Daphne also announced that Flamita will be participating in the Risky Raffle on August 5th as part of the West Scranton Little League Carnival.
Tumblr media
Queen Aminata vs. Brittnie Brooks Queen Aminata defeated Brittnie Brooks via submission with the Koji Clutch. (3:10)
Tumblr media
- Jarek 1:20 welcomed us to The Magic Shop. Jarek held four linked metal rings as he talked about forming what you believe to be unbreakable bonds with people that will never break apart...until one day they do. With that Jarek pulled the rings apart, sending them crashing to the ground as he brought out his guest Kylie Paige. Kylie talked about how excited she was when her sister Kenzie asked her to join the group. Kylie admits that she didn't think twice about attacking older wrestlers, convinced they were refusing to step aside and make room for the next generation. But that she sees now that they were never really a movement, they were led by opportunists that were only interested in their individual careers. Kylie hasn't heard from anyone in the group, including her own sister since their series of defeats in Wilkes-Barre. Kylie, fighting back tears, apologized for her actions, and hopes that CORE will continue to give her the opportunity to wrestle and earn her way up the card the right way.
SEGMENT FOUR (EIGHT MINUTES):
Tumblr media
The New Brain Busters (Brock Anderson and Tessa Blanchard) vs. Carlie Bravo and Trish Adora The New Brain Busters defeated Carlie Bravo and Trish Adora with the spinebuster from Anderson on Bravo. (5:20)
Tumblr media
- After the match The New Brain Busters made their way to the commentary booth. Tessa Blanchard got on the microphone and demanded some real competition. Jake Something and Giant Baba Yaga made their way out from behind the curtain. Tessa dismissed their challenge and said she asked for real competition. Tessa said she no longer wants to wrestle women, because everyone knows she's the best women's wrestler in the world. Tessa told Giant Baba Yaga to take a hike, as next week she wants The New Brain Busters to take on Jake Something and Vincent Nothing.
SEGMENT FIVE (NINE MINUTES):
Tumblr media
The Production (Derek Dillinger, Magnum CK, and Ziggy Haim) vs. Pop Art Flyers (Edith Surreal, Shea McCoy, and Weber Hatfield) The Production defeated the Pop Art Flyers with an elbow strike to the back of the head from Dillinger on McCoy. (7:07)

And, just officially signed, The New Brain Busters of Brock Anderson and Tessa Blanchard facing off against Jake Something and Vincent Nothing. The Knicks will be a different kind of trainwreck this year
Tumblr media
The Knicks have a new kind of problem this season.
The Knicks’ future is at odds with its present.
Kevin Knox surveyed the court off a pick-and-roll at the top of the arc. The forward took two strong dribbles to his left, caught the attention of a pair of Atlanta Hawks defenders, then whipped a precision pass to a cutting Mitchell Robinson for a dunk. The 6’9, 20-year-old connecting with a 6’11, 21-year-old made for the most impressive New York Knicks preseason play of the year.

Plays like that are everything Knicks fans should want to see this year. The most logical way the franchise can build an Eastern Conference contender for the first time in decades is through developing their draft picks. After swinging and missing on yet another crop of game-changing free agents, and this time losing Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving to crosstown rivals, the future is clear. It rests in the hands of Knox, Mitchell, R.J. Barrett, Dennis Smith Jr., Allonzo Trier and Frank Ntilikina.
At least, it should.
New York’s front office learned from its previous mistakes. It didn’t use cap space to overpay a complementary piece like Joakim Noah and his four-year, $72 million deal in 2016 or Tim Hardaway Jr. and his four-year, $71 million contract in 2017. Instead, the Knicks focused on shorter term contracts. See Marcus Morris’s and Bobby Portis’s one-year, $15 million deals, Taj Gibson’s two-year, $20 million contract, and Elfrid Payton’s and Wayne Ellington’s two-year, $16 million deal.
While that salary cap ingenuity was lauded over the summer, it’s bound to create a separate issue entirely.
The Knicks’ veteran signings are at odds with their future
The Knicks flushed out their depth with in-their-prime players looking to play big minutes, prove they can win games and ultimately earn a long-term contract elsewhere. Ellington is 31 and Morris is 30. Neither are here to play the Knicks’ rebuilding game. Payton (25) and Portis (24) tested the market this summer for the first big deals of their careers but swung and missed. They have ulterior motives, too. There lies a problem.
How Knicks head coach David Fizdale weaves through this problem is a mystery. Once again he has pieces, but few of them fit on the same timeline. Half his roster is a land of opportunity while the other half’s a blockade. Last season, in a botched opportunity to plummet and land Zion Williamson, Fizdale leaned into the latter, playing DeAndre Jordan, Enes Kanter and Trey Burke as many or more minutes than Ntilikina and Robinson. This year, he’s been silent about his starting lineup, though some are suggesting Morris and Julius Randle are already locks, presumably over Knox.
There is a way for the Knicks to escape the hole they’ve dug themselves into. The preferable solution would be for the Knicks to play the core six building pieces the bulk of the minutes and let them suffer through growing pains while the vets grumble. See Barrett play point guard next Ntilikina, find out what Knox can do as the ball-handler in pick-and-rolls, discover Smith Jr.’s capabilities off-ball and realize Trier’s ceiling. But that won’t happen.
The Knicks could trade veterans for assets at the deadline
The best Knicks fans can hope is for their team to become the hottest fire-sale club come the trade deadline in Feb. Unlike the Noah and Hardaway Jr. contracts, these veterans will have market value. Teams who believe they can contend will want Morris’s and Portis’s expiring deals, and they may even be willing to overpay in desperation.
Think the Lakers, who swung and missed on depth-signing opportunities in pursuit of Kawhi Leonard over the summer, and factor in the inevitable injuries that will hamper other contenders’ rotations. There is a chance the Knicks could net draft picks at the expense of half a year’s worth of player development. And maybe that’d be worth it. But there are no assurances.
The Knicks won’t spend all season attempting to justify a senseless contract like in years prior. But they will inevitably stumble trying to play too many players minutes. Fizdale will have to find time for his present and his future while keeping his butt off the hot seat. The franchise’s goals are unclear, and so too are its players roles.
The Knicks are at risk of getting in their own way again.
