Can we talk about how in a span of max 2 days, Manolo finally reunited with his childhood friend/crush after years of waiting for her to return, then right after confessing his feelings to her and her feeling the same, she "dies" by getting bitten by a snake that was gonna bite him instead? Then he gets blamed for it by others including his other childhood friend, and afterwards Manolo make a deal with God to meet Maria again by getting bitten by the same snake, die and meet his family including his mother who died when he was little?
Only to find out that she didn't actually die and got tricked by the same God so that he could win a bet that Manolo had no idea he, Maria and Joaquín were involved since childhood in the first place? Then in order to win a chance to go back to life, he has to fight against every bull his family slaughtered?
And the second he gets back to the living world, he has to defend his home against the bandits and almost dies again by sacrificing himself, but since his friend had given him without his knowledge a magic medal that protects against any harm, he lives?
But while everyone is celebrating the victory, the very next day, Manolo would have to say goodbye to his dad and great-grandmother as they had died, and they died believing him to be dead too when in fact he was fighting to live again?
Second movie that is just of Manolo processing all that happening in such a short span of time, when?

Headcanon Time!
Or rather, crossover time!
Don't ask me why, but I firmly think Manolo would make a great older brother for Miguel.

This is an HC from a friend that tells Héctor (Pixar Coco) could've been son of Manolo Sánchez and María Posada (The Tree of Life) She also made some OC children from them and siblings for Héctor.
I made a Fanart of them in honor of my friend's birthday, trying to recreate those vintage photos from the early XX's, and this obviously would be a family photo that foreshadows Hector's very own with Imelda and baby Coco. I made a similar Fanart with the Mérante family before.
Here appear the twins Juan and Sophie (the ones at the sides of Manolo) and the little girl on María's lap is Camilla. Héctor would be 11-12 years old and he's the one at the side of María and in front of Sophie.
Made with pencil colors and pens at May 22 of 2024. (Vintage edition made in the Canvas app)
Happy Birthday @vanessafangirl13 ! 😃🎉🎂🎁🎈

also during "No Matter Where You Are" you can see Carlos has his hand on Carmen's hip. He takes his hand off and Carmen, without looking, grabs his hand and puts it back, holding his hand there for a moment. it's so fucking cute akfhajdha 💕💕😭😩

Why must we fight?
…Yes I made this because of the animated movie poll. Putting two bad bitches against each other? Absolutely criminal. They should kiss instead. Cry. Cope. Seethe.

MARÍA POSADA, MANOLO SÁNCHEZ, and JOAQUÍN MONDRAGON from THE BOOK OF LIFE
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Justification:
"The three are childhood friends and the two boys always joked and playfully fought about María marrying one of them… Then the gods of Death made a bet on who María would end up with. Seriously.
La Muerte (queen of Land of The Remembered) bet on Manolo and Xibalba (king of Land of The Forgotten) bet on Joaquín, and if Xibalba won, they would switch places. Xibalba gave Joaquín a MacGuffin for him to not die, and killed Manolo (he came back tho and kicked Xibalba's ass).
Polyamory would've quite literally saved Manolo. Also, they're such a cool battle throuple!
(also I had to search some of the names and found out they're making a sequel and I'M SOO HYPED NOW!!!)" - @octonine

Headcanon Time!
This one has a bit of angst.
I think that Manolo and Joaquín, at some point during the ten years that María was in Spain, their personalities and ideals finally collided and it ended in an argument that separated them for a long time.
What do I mean by this? We all know that Joaquín had become arrogant and selfish over time and had focused more on being the hero of San Angel who had forgotten the friendship he had with Manolo and seeing him more as a rival.
Manolo was obviously affected by this. One thing led to another and, well, they both parted ways. I don’t exactly know how would end up arguing, but I’ll think about it.
Also, both General Posada and Carlos were a little to blame (mostly the General).
