Happy 20th Anniversary, The Urbz: Sims in the City (GBA)!

I re-did my set of The Urbz in TS4 a few weeks ago, and I thought this would be a great opportunity to motivate me to share them and put the finishing details on! I also have a completed set of The Sims: Bustin' Out (GBA) Sims and The Sims 2: Pets (GBA) Sims, the latter of which were uploaded to the gallery already.

Misty, Dusty, and Daddy should be the same/very similar to how they looked in my last post. Luthor and Giuseppi were re-done though.

These WILL be uploaded... eventually. I was thinking about putting the download link on this post. If you are reading this, I did not end up doing that.

I'm going to be completely honest: I tried to get a wheelchair working in CAS (for Lincoln Broadsheet). I got a wheelchair pose working in CAS... and I converted one to an accessory, but it refused to be where I wanted it to be! I'm not sure why. The UV_1 was right. The weights were right. SimRipper did it right! But in-game said no, so Lincoln is stuck standing. Sad.

Some Urbs Sims for the 20th anniversary

I don't have anything special for the urbs 20th anniversary, but I have these little guys lying around so I might as well show them off!

They are for my Strangetown Subhood and will be included in it when it's done. I will also be uploading an empty version and all the sims as bodyshop files, but I can't say when that will be. So I guess this is also kind of an update post.

"So what? Honestly I was tired of having her around! So tired of watching her go in the bathroom all the time just to look in the mirror, or take a nap on the bench, flirting with anyone or bursting to tears for no reason. I've been hosting her for eight years, Oscar!"

"Yes, sure Mama Mambo, I know, I know. But you’ve been hosting me since I was a teen, so.."

"So WHAT? Do you think Mambo Loa runs a lost animal shelter or a gas station?" Mambo replied annoyed ""Now please Oscar, make yourself useful. Deputy Duncan will be here in a few minutes to pick her up, and I’m not in the mood to entertain him. Go upstairs and ask her to come down right now"

"So Miss? Mambo says you found a place, are you excited?"

"I’m afraid, dear Oscar. This gas station is my home now. The memories haven’t come back yet, and at this point, I think they’ll never come back. But enough with the sad talk! You’re right, I should be excited! Come on!"

Oscar thought that this was an excellent summary of the lady’s personality.

"Mrs Loa, charming as ever"

Typical Deputy Duncan. Oscar couldn’t figure out how such a young boy could lose his head over old Mama Mambo. Yet you could be sure, whenever he had the chance, he would play his cards with Mambo Loa.

"You’re being ridiculous Duncan. I saw you being born, and I helped your mother change your diapers." Said Mambo, visibly upset.

"And you were beautiful then too" muttered Duncan, now embarrassed.

"Miss Doe is waiting to be escorted to her new home. Give us a few minutes to say goodbye"

"I’m proud of you, girl! I know you needed a lot of courage to make the decision to get out of here. Whenever you need help, remember, you can count on Mambo Loa, we are friend".

"It was nice to live together, Miss! Come back and visit us whenever you want. I’ll miss you so much!"

Deputy Duncan waited until the greetings were over and then turned to Miss Doe.

"I put your suitcase in the car, Miss Doe, we are ready to go!"

"Call me Bella, please. That’s my name, and the only thing I remember"

Nimue is a powerful witch, she dominates Time and Space. She tries not to travel to moments close to her birth (so as not to create paradoxes that could damage her reality) and she cannot go beyond her current age (30 years old), but every time she "jumps" she creates an access in the space-time continuum that allows alternative versions of her, of different ages, to interact with her. Every alternative Nimue knows about the others by sharing their own memories and experiences of their respective parallel universes when they are in the same timeline.

Nimue is the granddaughter of the detective Nosferatu Lafayette and his wife, the Fire Witch, daughter of one of their twin daughters, Malu, of whom she is a perfect genetic copy (with the exception of her eyes, her mother has green ones and she has blue ones, almost violet). Born in 2050, she doesn't know who her father is, but her ability to contact the Loa could have some meaning…

There is something that is attracting and eliminating the various Nimue of the multiverse… This Nimue knows it, but she tries not to fall into its trap. How long she can be safe is something she does't know for the moment. The future opens up ahead of the Runaway Witch with every step she takes, just like anyone else!

A manbo (also written as mambo) is a priestess (as opposed to a oungan, a male priest) in the Haitian Vodou religion. Haitian Vodou's conceptions of priesthood stem from the religious traditions of enslaved people from Dahomey, in what is today Benin. For instance, the term manbo derives from the Fon word nanbo ("mother of magic"). Like their West African counterparts, Haitian manbos are female leaders in Vodou temples who perform healing work and guide others during complex rituals.

This form of female leadership is prevalent in urban centers such as Port-au-Prince (the capital of Haiti). Typically, there is no hierarchy among manbos and oungans. These priestesses and priests serve as the heads of autonomous religious groups and exert their authority over the devotees or spiritual servants in their hounfo (temples).

Manbos and oungans are called into power via spirit possession or the revelations in a dream. They become qualified after completing several initiation rituals and technical training exercises where they learn the Vodou spirits by their names, attributes, and symbols. 

The first step in initiation is lave tèt (head washing), which is aimed at the spirits housed in an individual's head. The second step is known as kouche (to lie down), which is when the initiate enters a period of seclusion. Typically, the final step is the possession of the ason (sacred rattle), which enables the manbos or oungans to begin their work. One of the main goals of Vodou initiation ceremonies is to strengthen the manbo's konesans (knowledge), which determines priestly power.

The specific skills and knowledge gained by manbos enable them to mediate between the physical and spiritual realms. They use this information to call upon the spirits through song, dance, prayer, offerings, and/or the drawing of vèvès (spiritual symbols). During these rituals, manbos may either be possessed by a loa (also spelled lwa, Vodou spirits) themselves, or may oversee the possession of other devotees. Spirit possession plays an important role in Vodou because it establishes a connection between human beings and the Vodou deities or spirits. Although loas can "mount" whomever they choose, those outside the Vodou priesthood do not have the skills to communicate directly with the spirits or gods. This is because the human body is merely flesh, which the spirits can borrow to reveal themselves via possession. manbos, however, can speak to and hear from the Vodou spirits. As a result, they can interpret the advice or warnings sent by a spirit to specific individuals or communities.

Cécile Fatiman is a Haitian manbo famously known for sacrificing a black pig in the August 1791 Vodou ceremony at Bois Caïman—an act that is said to have ignited the Haitian Revolution. There are also notable manbos within the United States. Marie Laveau (1801-1888), for example, gained fame in New Orleans, Louisiana, for her personal charm and Louisiana Voodoo practices.

Renowned as Louisiana's "voodoo queen", Laveau's legacy is kept alive in American popular culture (e.g., the television series America Horror Story: Coven).ne Mama Lola is another prominent manbo and Vodou spiritual leader in the United States. She rose to fame after the publication of Karen McCarthy Brown's ethnographic account Mama Lola: A Vodou Priestess in Brooklyn. Mama Lola's success provided her with a platform to challenge Western misconceptions of Haitian Vodou and make television appearances

Hii you seem to be very knowledgeable on The Sims Urbz handheld I thought I would ask you something I hope you don't mind. I'm on the part where you feed Boo chocolate to cure his vampirism but he won't take it from me..I talked to Mambo Loa, have 10 cooking skill, made the chocolate bunny. Is this a glitch you think?

you’re missing an important step here… did you get 7 mechanical skill and let bayou boo out of his chains? how is he supposed to eat if he can't use his hands :(

if you have and just forgot to mention it, then, yeah, probably a glitch. but i don't know if i've ever heard of this mission just... not working before though.

But to me you can give us the same vibe without removing her background lean into her culture her hometown

These two people are playing Marie Laveau who I’m 100% sure Rick got Hazel mom name from she extremely well known in NOLA ( I also headcanon that the local residents thought Marie from the book was her descendant but was disappointed and angry)

As you can see you look at these women and you sense the presence of something vibrant

I see this as an older Hazel who just embrace herself embrace her gifts

One of our most famous mambo is Cécile in 🇭🇹 and you see how vibrant she looks

There is loas that wear a lot of Black but like Baron always have color thrown with his suits like purple

Angela never grew out of her 'witch' phase. It all started on the playground at recess when a mean girl pushed her. Said girl ran away before Angela got up and that prompted the Shepard to find leafs, berries, twigs and water and dump it in a plastic pail; Angela wished with all her heart that girl that pushed her would fall off the slide and crack her head open. It was ominous the event just so happen to have occurred right at that moment and that's all it took to convince her that she was 'magical'.

She puts hexes on boys that wronged her and puts warning spells on women that intimidate her. She also puts on protection spells for Curly and Tim (and Ponyboy if he's not to shy to be around her). She believes they work. Tim thinks it's a crock of shit and Curly thinks her stones and crystals are kinda cool.
