Mascix: Describing a Non-Male individual that finds a masculine gender attribution befitting and considers it an essential facet of their gender identity.

Based upon the term Apathmascix.

Etymology

Mascix is derived from Apathmascix, created by removing the prefix Apath-, indicating apathy. The root, Mascix, has a unknown etymological origin. Apathmascix was coined by user Cybertroniancoining in December 2023. The term Mascix, coined by Gent of Gender-Jargon a few days after, is directly based upon user Cybertroniancoining's term as a related concept.

Elaboration

Mascix is a complex and potentially contradictory identity in which one's gender is not Male, but has masculine traits attributed to them nonetheless, and this attribution is not only considered to be fitting by the individual, but an integral part of their overall gender experience.

More simply, an Mascix individual:

Has a gender identity that they consider to be Non-Male.

Has traits of masculinity attributed to them by other individuals.

Considers having traits of masculinity attributed to their person to be agreeable and in a few, multiple or all manners at least part of the time.

Considers this attribution to be an intrinsic part of their experience of their gender as a whole.

Mascix differs from Apathmascix in that a Mascix individual is definitively not apathetic towards masculine traits being attributed to them, nor are they inherently beyond gender as a concept. In place of indifference, a Mascix individual enjoys, appreciates, entertains, welcomes or otherwise freely accepts masculine traits being attributed to their person. Furthermore, this attribution is a fundamental aspect of their gender experience.

Flag

The Mascix flag is based upon the Apathmascix flag created by the coiner of the term. The Apathmascix flag utilizes the color palette from the Inersgender flag created by user Stellette in 2014 alongside a tri-color blue scheme. The Mascix flag is color-picked from the tri-color blue scheme, shown across three vertical bars, with the darkest blue at the left progressing to the lightest blue to the right. In the middle, a horizontal, tan stripe was added to represent the quality of being a Mascix being a Non-Male. The Mascix flag was created by Gent of Gender-Jargon in 2023.

Note: Gender attribution is not necessarily based upon one's expression, but is more frequently an assumption made about an individual's gender identity without their input. Being an assumption, it is not always correct, good, wanted or warranted. Affirming attributions are congruent with one's perception of themselves. Unmin, Amasc, or Nonmasc Man/Boy/Guy, is a gender identity for someone who has a male-aligned gender or miaspec gender but does not have a masculine-aligned gender or lacks a connection to masculinity.

People who feel like they have a very vague connection to masculinity can also use this term.

They might also have a gender alignment/s in place of masculinity like (outherine/neutral/feminine/xenine), this isn’t a requirement to use this term though. Examples of genders like that are Melle and Neuvir.

I really appreciate your input! :) Sorry if my ask was confusing, when I typed it out it was late at night and I was very sleepy. I’d like to clarify that I’m also male-aligned and feel like a dude. It’s just agender is like.. how do I word this, the focus? It’s very complex. I don’t need hyper-specific terms (they’re fine but not necessary for me!) but I feel like something is lacking and both transmasc and agender don’t entirely sum up my experience with gender. To add further, I’m always agender. That doesn’t fluctuate. And let me clear something up before I say something else.

For me, transmasc means: I’m connected to masculinity, I express myself in a masc way, I use masc pronouns, etc. Not that I identify as a guy. Which is the common definition but it depends on who you ask, ofc.

For me, being male-aligned/male means: feeling like a dude and identifying as a dude.

With that said, the agender part of me never fluctuates and I always feel it 100%. But I am fluid between being transmasc and actually identifying as male.

I hope this makes sense. Sorry for the misconception that I’m not male-aligned!

It makes sense to me! Even the agender experience can be complex, and have many parts that make it up. Gender can move and fluctuate in different ways. I think it can be rather fun sometimes! (But I totally understand if it's more frustrating than fun.)

Agender man is definitely a thing you can be. People of any kind of gender can relate to the binary in some way. Usually that means we relate to it in a very different way, like we're creating a "neobinary" of sorts.

Feeling a lot of trans Leo feelings rn and I would like to reiterate how possible it is for him to not only be trans but also have no idea at all about it.

Okay so, he’s bigger than Donnie, particularly carapace wise, which tends to be the case when the slider is female and the softshell is male.

Second, his coloring. He retains the same coloring his whole life, even as a much older adult, so there’s another tick in the trans checklist, especially being that said coloring is noticeably bright.

His demeanor is also pretty at odds from most male red eared sliders - one example of this being when Bullhop was staying with them and Leo is noticeably less angered by him being both in their territory and in general than the others are - male red eared sliders would be way more combative here.

Like alone none of these are 100% definitive indicators but all together it makes perfect sense to me personally.

Now, how would it work for Leo to not know?

Okay, bear with me, but I like to think it’s because of Splinter’s (or rather, Lou Jitsu’s) genetics! As in, of course Leo wouldn’t assume otherwise, after all, his human self is very masc, including his lower voice and overall body type, so he and his family would have no reason to assume that he’s actually trans! But I personally like to think that it is because of Lou Jitsu’s DNA that Leo’s humanoid half turned out so masc in comparison to his more female aligning turtle half.

So yeah. Female red eared slider mutated with the DNA of a human man equals a turtle teen with no idea he’s trans (or potentially intersex.)

The definition for these terms are broad even though they have semi-specific names, so I may add other things to call them later.
