'''It's one of the biggest mysteries in modern aviation history. In March 2014, Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 took off from Kuala Lumpur International Airport en route to Beijing and lost communication about 38 minutes into the flight. Military radar tracked the aircraft as it veered off course before the signal (and the plane) disappeared somewhere over the Andaman Sea and Indian Ocean.
All 12 crew members and 227 passengers were presumed dead, and search-and-rescue efforts yielded no signs of the doomed plane apart from a few pieces of debris that washed up on coastal shores months later. Now, scientists have partially reconstructed the possible origin and drift path of that debris via a novel means: extracting data about ocean temperatures stored in shells of barnacles, according to a new paper published in the journal AGU Advances.''''
Im sure yall know what MH370 is. And if u don’t then it’s plane that disappeared and still no one found it.
Now let’s talk abt it.
It was a flight to Malaysia to China. The pilot is from a Malaysian island called penage. Let’s see the path.
The bended curve in between 3 and 4 is the island of penage.
Was the pilot tryna see his home?
This is what trail they were supposed to take.
The final trackers of Malaysia before it went missing
The final words spoken to the radar.
“Lumpur Radar: "Malaysian three seven zero, contact Ho Chi Minh one two zero decimal nine. Good night."
Flight 370: "Good night. Malaysian three seven zero."
After this another pilot tried to contact the flight only to hear mumbles that they couldn’t make out.
In 2015 the first piece of MH370 was found in the Indian Ocean.
Before you say “on maybe they found it on the beach?” Wrong. If you don’t notice it but some things are sticking out of the back. Those are barnacles that is only found in the ocean.
My theory is that the plane wasn’t hijacked. It was a suicide by pilot. If the plane rlly got hijacked how did they know that island was the pilots hometown? It doesn’t make sense.
This week, Aly tells Nat about what happened to MH370: the plane that took off from a routine flight between Kuala Lumpur and Beijing when it suddenly disappeared from radar and was never seen again. What happened? Could there be a curse at play here?
This. Is. Gamechanger the only gameshow where the game changes every show I’m Sam Reich and our contestants have no idea what game they’re about to play, the only way to learn is by playing. The only way to win is by learning. And the only way to begin is by beginning, so without further ado. Players you may have noticed we are standing on Malaysia Airlines flight 370.
not exactly the same, but malaysia airlines did very much cover up their pilot most likely murdered everybody on mh370. like they knew he planned it, refused to release that information until it leaked, then just shrugged because a murder payout would cost more for their company + look worse than a disappearance and that was just accepted as normal and not absolutely fucking deranged
malaysia airlines was actually one of the incidents i was thinking about - locally, the malaysian govt tried its best to play down what happened, but internationally it was in the news for months, the incident was the subject of an international investigation, i believe even attracting the attention of the CIA.
of course, not the best parallel to make given how many more people died on flight 370, but with boeing's current safety and business practices, i feel like it's only a matter of time before we get an incident like that domestically
Any books you've read recently and what did you think of them?
I'm currently in the middle of rerading Stiletto by Daniel O'Malley and the Murderbot series by Martha Wells, and since they're both rereads, I'm enjoying myself immensely. Murderbot is big on Tumblr for good reason, but Stiletto is the second book in the Checquay Files series.
Basically what you need to know about book one, The Rook, is that the book opens with the main character coming to in the middle of a public park at night in the rain, surrounded by dead bodies wearing latex gloves, and she has no memories at all of herself, her life, her own name, or how she came to be there. She finds a note in her pocket from herself. Turns out she's a high-ranking member of basically the paranormal version of MI5 and someone in her own organization is trying to kill her, so she has to go undercover as herself to figure out who the traitor is. It's great.
Also the author is a nice Australian man whose day job had him operating as an expert during the Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 disappearance, which is an interesting coincidence.
At 12:42 a.m. on the quiet, moonlit night of March 8, 2014, a Boeing 777-200ER operated by Malaysia Airlines took off from Kuala Lumpur and turned toward Beijing, climbing to its assigned cruising altitude of 35,000 feet. The designator for Malaysia Airlines is MH. The flight number was 370.
Everything was normal until it wasn't. The plane went 'dark' and then simply disappeared. It has never been found, only a few scattered bits of debris have washed ashore thousands of miles away from its route.
This is a great #longread investigation of what happened.

I think people online are a little too comfortable joking about tragedies. Like why am I seeing people joke about Malaysia Airlines Flight 370? Like over 230 people are dead because it went down. Families will never see their loved ones again and haven't even been able to take care of their bodies in accordance with their customs and culture because the plane and its passengers were never found. That only happened in 2014. Their loved ones are still alive and in mourning. There is nothing funny about that.
