Mukuro - Werewolf (obviously) but the type that can freely change back and forth. So, if you knew her as one you'd never guess she was the other. The only indicator is the collar Junko has her wear at all times.

Junko - vampire that along with blood feeds off human emotion, having made her home in an abandoned castle within Makoto's woods. So, whenever she tries to have a meal she has to have Mukuro distract Makoto and stop him from leading her dinner out of the forest.

Mikan - Mummy who can unwrap things like her head and hands but once you go a little further you start seeing tattoos that indicate her being the physician to a pharaoh or someone else of high position. She tends to wear clothing that covers her bandages. She still has yandere-esque tendencies having an entire basement labyrinth designed like a tomb where the living mummies of her past lovers reside, and she currently has her eye on the three people that live in the castle in the forest outside of town. (At least she thinks the tree nymph she saw lives there, she knows the werewolf and vampire do)

Danganronpa fantasy AU idea

The Idea of what would the ultimates be in a fantasy setting has been bouncing around in my head so I want to share a few things I came up with.

Makoto - A nymph or Ent type tree creature with wooden skin and hair like clover. A Large four leaf clover acting like his ahoge, living in a forest Helping anyone that gets lost within.

Sakura - A large golem-like being that patrols and protects her home.

Aoi - A type of water nymph that helps swimmers and sailors lost at sea.

the ensemble stars x minions analysis that nobody asked for, under the cut

okay so minions want to serve the most powerful (and evil) guy in the area/time they're in

if they enrolled at yumenosaki prior to the ! era they'd have been looking for a master and might've even worked under shu/valkyrie, who was the top unit at that time

but when the first revolution/war began, the minions would've caught sight of exfine and eichi

hiyori is very biased and can tell each minion apart

he names them things like Flowery One and Revolting One

nagisa does not understand what a minion is

tsumugi can fucking communicate in minionese

that's part of the reason natsume hates him so much. he can understand them and talk to them and it's horrifying

if the minions were to see eichi's actual plans on the surface level, that would be enough for them to see as evil

there's also the possibility that some minions might see eichi as "good" and exfine as heroes so they'd turn to serve the eccentrics instead

the minions don't harass rei because he scares them

they think he'd eat them

natsume does not like these little freaks

kanata has fun with them because i'm pretty sure they can't drown

but as far as i've seen in the minions franchise they prefer more powerful figures, and the eccentrics at that time were ostracized

and during the ! era trickstar revolution, eichi is definitely more of a villain character so the minions would attempt to help him

there are so many interesting things to think about in danganronpa V3... rn im thinking about kiibo's position as the protagonist for the people in the outside world and i just think its so interesting that we follow different protagonists altogether.

there are moments in which kiibo does little makoto-esque speeches and they fall flat for us (the actual audience) because we're not really following the game from his perspective. it just sounds like tired and repetitive spiel on our end. it's such a cool little subversion to utilize something that was once used in the climax of the games as some kind of gag.

i wonder if the danganronpa V3 audience actually enjoys kiibo as a protagonist? do they still enjoy the typical despair x hope thing every time it happens? what does this say about tsumugi as the writer of this killing game?

a little bit about "good bones" x danganronpa

while i've only read recaps of the anime, i do think restarting HPA is perfectly in-character for Makoto. i also think that is, quite possibly, the Dumbest Possible Place to have ended the HPA arc without any additional Context or (Re-)action.

so i'm always thinking about what Makoto has to go through to convince his friends, the Remnants, society at large burned by despair that restarting the school is a good move. AND NOT EVEN REBRANDED!!! not even rebranded: the logo still has a Monokuma eye within it. the logo, the school, still is a constant tangible symbol of Junko.

this little mash-up is also inspired by the good half of Tsumugi's fake backstory for Danganronpa 53, where the v3s are the next gen of the HPA universe.

so, all together:

for me personally? this is Makoto talking, in this poem, to Kaede, who survived her formative years in Junko's post-apocalyptic nightmare, who is the pregame v3 Kaede we briefly meet that thinks the world is rotten. Makoto, however, knows the world is rotten. i've never thought he was blindly Naive or Hopeful. he's well-aware how shit things can get and have gotten.

after all, his (and our) first experiences in this New World Order? watching Mukuro getting kebobed by her own sister for what turned out to be Shits and Giggles. then discovering his first ally, Sayaka, was willing to offer him up to the altar that is Junko's worldview.

combine that with what others (Komaru, FF members) have told him they've seen and done...

but he's doing this anyway: he's rebuilding the institution that can serve as a source of renewal. maybe it'll be different this time around. he's choosing to think it'll be Different.

he has to have this talk with new applicants a lot.

he reaches over his desk to take Kaede's hand like Kyoko's done for him so many times, sheepishly smiling, and he says:

"h-hey, you know? this place could be beautiful, right? you could make this place beautiful."

WELLLLLLLLLLLLLL...

(I mean none of this with offense and I'm not targetting in any way shape or form btw-)

THH:

. Chihiro is VERY overrated.

. Off topic but it's canon Taka can sing, he wants Sayaka to teach him to sing so he can project his voice, and his Japanese VA is amazing at singing, and his English VA is Kinger in TADC (which I don't know much about but heard a song and imagined Taka singing it - which made me laugh -)

. Sayaka is underrated and over hated.

. Some of the executions aren't that good, and Celeste's was good and theatrical, but she (technically) killed 2 people and deserved to suffer a bit more.

. Toko is bad in THH and highly overrated if people like her and haven't seen her in UDG.

. Kiyotaka is annoying and loud even in his FTEs (He's like... my favourite character but I HAVE TO BE HONEST I WOULDN'T BE FRIENDS WITH HIM IRL-)

. Byakuya and Kyoko are EXTREMELY OVERRATED!!!! (If Byakuya has no haters I'm dead-)

. The survivors were so uninteresting, Hiro did almost nothing the whole time, and after Chapter 4 Aoi seemed to outlive her usefulness. She's still cool though, but also overrated.

. TRIAL 3 WAS WORSE THAN TRIAL 5 AND YOU CAN'T CHANGE MY MIND.

. 11037 is still kind of funny, but only in context and not for making fun of Leon as a character.

. Sayaka haters are just mad for no reason... leave her alone gang-

. Junko was a terrible choice for a master-mind, they should've given fake Junko more development before killing her off. I forgot about her after Chapter Two.

. Byakuya x Anybody is a terrible ship, especially Makoto x Byakuya.

. Celesgiri have chemistry, but no interactions that make us ship them.

. LEON, I LOVE YOU SO MUCH AND THE MANGA EXPLAINS IT IS SELF DEFENSE.

. Nagito is actually kind of annoying... he was better in Chapter One, but he did make the game 10x more interesting.
