so norifumi has basically been a thing since nori's conception, not for any deeper reason than simply that... finding a good personality match for hifumi in terms of romantic relationships is complicated.

that's my main problem with shiromada; sure, interests-wise they are compatible. but on a deeper level their personalities don't really blend well together in a romantic way? I could see them being very close in a platonic way, I just don't see it lending itself well to a romantic relationship.

also... what norifumi is exactly is... a difficult question. I do not consider them to have a standard romantic relationship, but I'm not sure if qpr is the appropriate term to use...? they are best friends who find a lot of happiness and comfort in being close, much closer than a platonic relationship.

in terms of canon replacements for the norifumi dynamic... honestly, (my very hc'd) makoto and chiaki are the main contenders I have in mind for people who could have something at least kind of similar?? really, one thing I'm proud of with nori is that he's a very unique character, but unfortunately that means it's hard to fill his spot
