#Maid in Manhattan Au

So,

Merlin works as a housekeeper in a luxury hotel in central London.

And has a son, Aithusa that is 7 years old (or something)

He is best friends with Gwen who's been working a bit longer than him in that hotel.

Arthur is a politic, and I HAVE NO IDEA HOW POLITICS WORKS IN THE UK (nor in my country but that another issue) He is running for something and has to stay in a hotel for the campaign, cause is easier to have the interview there. also a known womanizer

His second in command is Agravaine, and he also has his security personnel aka the knights.

Merlin is not bad at his job, but it's not what he wants to be, and it's trying to get his degree to be a nurse.

And he and his son have lived on the edge of poverty all of their life so this is the stablest job he has had and wants to keep it.

I don't know any neighborhood in UK, so im going to say that they live in the lower town.

Ok, so Merlin has his routine. He wakes up, does his son's breakfast, takes him to school, then takes the tube, and goes to work. At work he has his friends, he is friendly and kind so he has no problem with that, most of his coworkers are women, and he is technically a male maid, as butlers are higher ranking, and then is the steward and then management, I think, I want everybody to understand that im bullshiting my way on this.

On the days his schedule does not match, he brings Aithusa to the hotel to hang out while he is working.

On one of the rooms he is assigned is staying a insufferable woman, Sophia, and she is just the worse person ever, and on day she brings a man with her that leaves a really expensive suit behind and Gwen dares Merlin to live a little and try it on, he does after some pestering. When he is dressed he hears Aithusa distressed calling for him. He comes out like a rocket, and sees Arthur grabbing his son.

They fight like EP1 you know what I mean, like:

"What are you doing with my son?"

"So this is your son? Was it you that made him ask all those questions?"

"I don't know what are you talking about, but if you don't release him now, you are going to have a big problem my friend"

"Do I know you?" He releases the boy that runs towards his father. Before Merlin can answer he keeps on going "No, No I don't, yet you call me friend, you are going to tell me for what press do you work or do we need to do this the hard way"

"Look, you absolute bloody clotpole, I don't work for any press" he shouted shocking Arthur "And you are right, I could never be friends with someone who can be such an arse"

"You can't talk to me that way"

"Who are you? The sodding queen? Get lost" He turned back with Aithusa and went back to the room.

He vents to Gwen, who kindly informs him that, that was Arthur Pendragon, so Merlin thinks he is basically doomed.

Aithusa had been asking him hard questions about politics like "Why did you lie last time?" and Agravaine had gotten under Arthur's skin and basically convinced him that the kid must have been a tiny spy.

After the fight Leon does some damage control, and shows Arthur that he did really escalate the situation more than necessary, and also that that man could sue him easily and ruin his campaign.

Merlin is ranting loudly so he could hear that the situation appeared to be real, and he had screw up.

Merlin meanwhile finishes the room while dressed too, because he had forgotten in his fury, and Gwen is taking care of Aithusa, distracting him.

Arthur knocks on the door, and Merlin answers a bit thrown off, because the owner of the room is not waiting for anybody, and sees Arthur.

Arthur apologizes reluctantly, and Merlin point it out, and they start to banter, but it's a bit more friendly. Merlin assures him that they are not going to sue, so he can relax, still Arthur insist on compensating, because he finds this man interesting and doesn't want to stop that interaction, and then Gwen actually acts and makes him go.

They go with Aithusa to an ice cream shop, and Aithusa keeps on asking questions, Arthus sees how Merlin answers each of them as best as he can, without judgment. Merlin explains how Aithusa is really shy and has social anxiety, usually triggered in class when he is asked a question and he doesn't properly know how to respond.

So Arthur gives Aithusa some tips for stage fright, that he has before his speeches. And that wins him some points.

They spend a lovely time, but Merlin does need to keep workin so they excuse themself and leave Arthur and go back to the hotel.

Merlin takes the suit off and leaves them in the closet. and puts on his uniform, goes off on Gwen meddling and leaves her feeling like she did overstep a bit, when she realizes that Merlin could be fired for this.

Gwen still defends her posture, and expects details on the date. Merlin said that it had not been a date, but it had been rather nice.

At some point he helps Gaius, a senior butler after an injury on the work and covers for him.

they are offering a promotion a work and Merlin doesn't know if take it or leave the door to keep studying open, because if he take it, he knows he won't be able to study for his exams correctly.

Meanwhile Arthur reinspects his sexuality, like in a slow process, first, he couldn't quite believe he had so much fun, then he could nor stop thinking and comparing the parenting styles. His father had never been so soft edged with him, and had never put himself on a position where he didn't have all the cards. Then he could not stop thinking about his ideologies, his ideas, they were so interesting he was curious.

Next morning Agravaine is fuming. The papers caught the whole thing and they are on first page, some trying to identify the man as a benefactor, or a new weapon of the campaign, but one trying to frame it as a date.

That one does two things, sends Agravaine in a, certainly homophobic, rage induced spiral, and makes Arthur realize that maybe he hadn't been able to stop thinking about it because he too wishes it had been a date. He reads that article carefully.

And then he send a message to the room for a dinner, determined to find out whatever he is feeling.

He still doesn't know what to do when he finds out, he has never been attracted to a man, but well, it didn't feel like a big revelation just yet.

Merlin is asked to help serve that dinner.

When Arthur opened the door and a blond girl entered the room gushing about how happy she was he remembered her and flirting insatiably. Yeah not good.

The dinner was served perfectly, even with the lame attempts of hiding on Merlin's part. Who is rather proud when hearing the conversation between Arthur and his security team about the outing the other day and how fun it had been, because he too had enjoyed it.

Gaius is in the kitchen with Merlin, trying to get him to accept the promotion, and offering his help, when Arthur barges in. Merlins hides his face.

"A man" Arhtur says frustrated "The person Im looking for is a man"

"She was the only one in that room sir" Gaius explains.

"A man, my height, black hair, blue eyes and has a son named Aithusa, find him" orders frustrated before leaving the kitchen.

Gaius turns slowly and sees merlin slouched on the counter "Is there something you would like to tell me?"

Gaius promises to help him, only if he takes the test for the promotion, swearing Merlin could do everything he put his mind to.

So he presents an application.

That day when he is leaving with Aithusa, Arthur intercepts them near a close by restaurant he had been eating at.

"Where have you been? I have been looking for you?"

"I... To tell the truth I've never stayed in the hotel..."

"Oh... are you with that woman then?"

"Not in a million years"

"We were just waiting, he can only leave after five, that is the work schedule" Aithusa answered, and it was the truth, but it made it seem like he was some kind of solicitor, or secretary or something.

"Yes, you see, I'm a.."

"So you work for her"

"Yes" Aithusa grabbed his hand and he could only frown, what was he doing.

"Not related, not his mother...?

"Oh god no!" Merlin shouted terrified with that disgusting image.

"Then do you think you could come with me to the very important gala?"

"Yes he can"

"I don't think so" he threw a look to his son finally understanding what he had been doing "I have to work, and I don't know I f I can find a replacement"

"Just think about it yeah? I think your ideas about the lower town would be really appropriate there, here. This is my number call me if you reach a decision"

"I will, thank you"

Merlin was genuinely touched that he thought his ideas were valid in a place like that. But it was impossible he could go, and he had to study for his promotion test.

Merlin gave Aithusa an earful for lying to Arthur on purpose, and he responded that Arthur himself had explained that lies that helped others feel at ease with the change that was happening, where necessary.

Merlin cursed Arthur very badly.

And Gaius who offered to cover his shift, and Gwen who put the entire hotel staff into a cinderella mission. The boutique lended him a really nice suit, and the hair salon did something weird to his hair, and put on a face mask while on manicure. His hands were rough and hard from working but they cleaned up nicely.

Under threat that if he got the suit dirty Aithusa would be an orphan again, Merlin left, on a taxi, that had been a bit too much.

He arrives, and Arthur is way too happy.

"You do clean up well"

"Even the broken clock, gets it right twice a day" Merlin mutters, making Arthur laugh.

Arthur actually introduces hi to a couple of very interesting people, and gets him talking about some important stuff and introduces him to his security team too, before the are interrupted by Sophia trying to flirt with Arthur. He can't deny her in public so he dances, and Merlin comes to the realization that he does want that very badly,

He likes Arthur, but even if the signals he's been picking up are correct, and Arthur does like him, and is willing to openly BE with him, AND his son, with already sees like too much. This was all a lie, Merlin wasn't someone important and he had lied, he hadn't told the truth and had kept Arthur in the dark, that made him no better than Sophia. And, if that wasn't enough, if he kept with this, he most certainly be fired.

He turns and leaves, texting Arthur that he will be going, and thank you for everything.

A/N: Hi and welcome to the shortest fic I will ever publish. It is currently near 2am and I'm thinking about maid au. Roughly mid to late 30s setting.

With all the gentleness and care of a mouse slipping past a cat the little maid placed her employer's lunch tray upon the coffee table. It was a very fine table, and an even finer tray but you might not know that by the way their owner placed her booted foot upon the tables surface. Really they ressembled more closely those of a laborers footwear, something you might never expect to adorn the feet of a young lady. Certainly not of a young lady who lived in upper Manhattan, with all the fortune and wealth one could dream up.

She lay quite lazily, her head resting upon her hand, pressed comfortably against the plush pillows, one foot tucked up and the other outstretched. The lady wore not a fine dress, no pearls or necklaces, not even an earring, but a dark suit. That of a man's. Most knew her simply as Kate.

Kate struck quite the intriguing figure, and the maid was momentarily entranced. It was difficult not to be. She picked up the coat, which had been discarded without care and went to hang it up, but was startled by Kate's waking.

“Ms. Potts?” She inquired in the form of a yawn.

“Pardon me Ms?” The maid replied.

Kate sat up straighter, turning in her chair to examine the creature who was not in fact her old cook. She wore a face of confusion for a moment before her eyes widened in remembrance. “Sorry, I don't think we've met before?”

“It's Ms-” the maid began to respond, but Kate held up a hand.

“You're first name, please. Mom makes this place too formal.”

“Ophelia then, Ms.”

Kate pouted at this, scrunching her nose in distaste. She sat up a little more and began rolling up her shirtsleeves.

“This is your first day?”

“Yes Ms.” Ophelia attempted a smile.

Kate stood, and started to roll her shirtsleeves down again. She was not petite or particularly ladilike in any way, though her hair was long and in style.

“Please call me Kate. Everyone does.” She stretched a hand out in offering.

Hello Upper East Siders. Gossip Girl here. And once again, I am here to give the delicious deets on the scandalous lives of Manhattan's elite. Now onto the main course.

The summer holiday is slowly coming to an end and everyone is rushing to go get the school supplies. Now that brings the question; is Z retiring from the entertainment industry for good? Or will he just take a break and focus on being a normal kid?

I ask these questions because of the court drama that has played between his dads and his mother lately. Then there is the rumour about his record label dropping him for a supposed new It boy. From what I gathered, that was who Z hooked up with during his little rendezvous in Paris 2 years ago.

This will definitely cause tension between him and S because the two just started dating. And what’s going on with E and SU? Are those two dating or is this a friends with benefits thing? Those two have been getting real cosy these days.

Only time will tell.

"HOLY SHIT!!" The guys were going through Zoro's clothes and found some rather interesting outfits. Very sexy and revealing outfits at that. Zoro smirks. No one really knows about that other side of him besides Perona and his mother who was against it.

"How the hell were you able to bypass your mother to go clubbing?" Sukuna asks. The truth is, the others were not aware as they were busy living their lives in other parts of the globe.

"Simple. I bribed the guards and various staff members who helped me cover up. Perona knows all these club owners and various other people and also she hooked me up."

Zoro chuckles as he sips some wine. "I thought as much because Mihawk has loads of connections." says Eren. "Still, this is pretty sexy." says Sanji as he holds up the grey T-shirt that had ripped hole in front.

"Perona and the maids helped me get those slutty outfits. What I do is that I made sure mum was either not around or that she was asleep. Once the coast was clear, I would then change into my slutty outfits and do my makeup downstairs."

He then shows them a picture of himself at one of those parties. "WHOA!! DUDE YOU LOOK LIKE A FUCKING DIFFERENT PERSON!!"

Zoro chuckles. "That's not all. I had a lot of sex at those parties as well," he said. "Wait a minute. How many people are we talking about here?" His smirk broadens. "Sometimes threesomes, other times foursomes at times fivesomes. Truth be told, I almost always have sexual orgies almost every single week. Thinking about it now is making me horny."

Their eyes widen. "NO FUCKING WAY DUDE?!" Sanji just pouts. "I wish I was there." he whines. "I know right? I would kill to have a front row seat to see the crazy bad boy Zoro Roronoa in action." Zoro raises an eyebrow. "You sure you wanna see that? 'Cause I could show you how wild I can get tonight. If you want."

“Nah let’s not go there. Still it is kinda sad how you got this way.” says Sukuna. The others nodded. Zoro used to be a kind sweet kid. But now, that little boy is long dead.

Zoro smiles sadly. “I am done being nice. I am tired of being used and betrayed. So I became the guy that I am now. I no longer care anymore. So long as I can gain some form of pleasure to escape the shit in my life. Then I am fine. So long as I do not feel that pain anymore then.....it is all good. And so that's what I did to survive. Open my damn legs and let all kind of guys to fuck me senseless until I cannot remember my name that night.”

The others exchanged looks. This was the first time they would hear Zoro speak that way. Truth be told, there are still some things they do not know about him. Hearing this shocked them. Yes, they have done equally horrible things but Zoro’s situation hits different once you remember what she had done to her son.

"That woman ruined him." says Sukuna. He always sued to get into arguments with Terra a lot because he noticed how much that woman hurt her son and had enough decency within him to call her out. Sukuna may be an ass but even he would never cross that line with his own kids.

“They better let you guys win.” says Eren. Zoro nods. “Anyway enough of that. Congrats on your debut Sanji and Eren.” he said with the fakest smile plastered on his face. A couple weeks ago, Eren, Sanji and three other guys announced that they would debut as the boyband Aogiri.

Now don’t get Zoro wrong. He is happy for them, especially Sanji. But he felt this strange emptiness. Nah I can’t be jealous. He worked hard for this.

He remembers how the media often tried to pit them against each other and created a rivalry that was none existent back then. He found out weird especially since it was a well known fact that he was in love with the boy.

What he fears more than anything is the fame getting into Sanji’s head and Sanji suddenly abandoning him. Just like majority of their other friends. Like Sesshomaru. Agh….not those voices again!!

“Honey are you okay?” Sanji’s sweet voice was enough to snap him out of his trance. “Oh nothing. Just picturing you onstage.” Partially true.

Soon, Sanji and Eren get picked up by their manager and Sukuna gets called away by his dad leaving Zoro all alone.

Once the others were gone, his mask gets quickly discarded. “Why is life so hard?” he mutters as he sits on his bed, staring at the pile of clothes that lay all across the room.

He was deeply confused. One minute he was on top of the world. The next, he was a mess. Can death just come and claim me please?

“Is it me or is Zoro hiding something?” Sanji asks. He and Eren had just finished group rehearsals and were taking a break.

“Looks like I ain’t the only one that noticed.” Says Eren. “What did the woman do to him?” Marimo please don’t hurt yourself. I beg you.

Although he and Zoro have been having sex, something still felt off. He was a lot distant and rarely spoke. It seems that it could be connected to sexual trauma. It was then that Sanji remembered his own traumatic past and panicked inwardly. Did that witch sexually abuse her own son?

Meanwhile Mihawk and Arashi were busy chatting in the kitchen whilst having some coffee. “Remember when Buggy accidentally burned down part of the kitchen whilst trying to make some spaghetti for Shanks?

Arashi laughs. “Zeff almost killed him that day.” Mihawk chuckles. Nothing like reminiscing about your younger years with your childhood friend. “I can’t believe Zeff let him into the kitchen.”

Mihawk spots Zoro who had just come down the stairs and was lurking around. “Oi Zoro you okay buddy?”

The boy just stares at the ground. Arashi walks over to the boy and hugs him. “It’s okay kiddo.”

“Dad. I have a confession to make. It is related to mother.”

Both men stare at each other before staring back at the boy.

“Tell us.”

Zoro gulps. He actually wanted to tell his friends but he felt it was best to tell the dads first. “M…Mother raped me when I was 7.”

“WHAT?!”

The poor boy finally breaks down in tears. The two men immediately pull him into a warm hug. “God I failed you Zoro!! Why did I not see that?!” Mihawk exclaims.

“It’s alright Mihawk. All that matters is that we protect him now.” says Arashi. Mihawk nods. “Oh that bitch is gonna pay for what she did to our son!!”

Zoro smiles. The weight has finally been lifted off his shoulders. His siblings overheard the entire conversation and were horrified. “How could mother do this?!” Miku gasps.

“Pure evil I tell you.” says Perona. “We need to protect him at all costs.” says Kuina.

Arranged Marriage - there is just something about an arranged marriage and them hating each other in the beginning but falling in love that does it for me.

[Modern AU]

"I just discovered the Christmas Prince trilogy on Netflix," Petra enthuses, her hands shaking as she decorates the cookies with icing. Seeing that her efforts are wobbling, she renews her grip. "They really are heartwarming and enchanting movies," she adds with a sigh. "Princess Emily has to be one of my favourite characters. She's so full of sass and cheek."

She finishes decorating the Christmas tree shaped cookie and puts it aside. "Levi and I both enjoyed Maid in Manhattan," she adds with a slight grin. "Although I think Levi mainly liked it because it was about a maid working hard and fooling some rich people. Oh and the politician was a decent guy so... yeah he enjoyed it, I think."

"The Lord of the Rings films are not bad," Levi declares from the doorway and Petra jumps, almost dropping her icing. "Some of the battle strategy is actually pretty decent." He adds as he walks into the kitchen and grabs a wet cloth to start cleaning up some of Petra's mess. "That Frodo should have had someone else watching him the whole time instead of being allowed to wander off."

Petra resumes icing, working on the next cookie that's shaped like a reindeer. "You're so harsh on him," she argues. "He has a lot on his shoulders."

"All the more reason that he should have had someone else with him. They could have stopped Boromir and Frodo wouldn't have put the ring on and gotten spooked about continuing with the group."

"True." Petra agrees, putting some icing on a spoon and bringing it to her lips. She giggles as she watches Levi's face contort.

"Are you trying to get a fucking sugar high?"

Jaimsa - happy birthday mr president

It was a brutal campaign period, especially as he went up against Daenerys Targaryen, and for a moment Jaime thought he’d have to concede. But Sansa urged him to sleep on it before making a final decision. True enough, when he woke, he has a lead on his opponent by a small margin. 

At the end of the day, Senator Jaime Lannister became President-elect Lannister. 

That was two days ago.

Jaime’s certain his father would twitch in pride.

Tyrion certainly is, and Jaime’s well pleased to see his brother right down sloshed. Of course, none of this would’ve happened without Sansa, the wife he truly feels he doesn’t deserve.

He never wanted to have this much power, content with writing laws that would help his people. And yet - 

She doesn’t push him to be someone he isn’t, accepting him for who he is but calling him out on his bullshit if she has to, and he becomes a better man for it. A better public servant too.

He rubs his temples to stave off the headache he feels is coming, but when the door to his office opens, a smile instantly blooms on his face.

Sansa is walking towards him with a cupcake and a lit candle on top. 

“Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday Mr. President,” She stops right between his legs as she sings before promptly perching herself on his lap. 

“Not president yet,” he teases. 

She gives him a raised eyebrow and an exasperated sigh before continuing. “Happy birthday, my dear Jaime, happy birthday to you.”

Well, he certainly likes this version more.

“Make a wish, babe.” Sansa says, settling a little bit more of her weight on him as she makes herself comfortable. And honestly, he can’t help but feel every bit like the cliched leading man in the movies.

“What more can I want - I’ve become president with you by my side.” His hand on her waist squeezes her, startling her into a giggle, his other hand draws the one holding the cupcake closer to him so that he could blow on the candle. Sansa puts it on the desk when he does.

She brushes his hair away from his eyes and settles her hand on his neck, her thumb brushing back and forth on the spot just below his jaw. “I’m so proud of you, Jaime.” She tells him tenderly, her eyes crinkling in pleasure. 

“And I love you,” he breathes out to her before he captures her in a kiss. 

He savors this moment; the high of a win with the woman who is his better half in every way. He knows the time will come when he’ll be stressed enough to question why he ran in the first place, but for now there is contentment and joy.
