Actually. Star crown Elrond is important to me because it keeps the theme of his family carrying stars with them, their connection to the stars and skies far beyond what even all other elves have. Thingol, who fell in love with a Maia from beyond Arda and Aman and from before time itself existed, and who, of all the elves, was alone named Elwë, after stars; Lúthien and the nightingales, birds, free with their wings, soaring the skies; Dior who carried the silmaril with the light of the Trees inside it; and Elwing who inherited it, and turned into a bird, flying as Lúthien's nightingales once did; Eärendil, a literal star; and Elros, who followed his father's star to Númenor, a star-shaped island where eagles dwelt. Star crown Elrond is important to me okay

i haven't properly read this manhwa BUT the concept of this vampire couple who adopts a human daughter and decades later grieves at her side as she lies on her deathbed is giving such thingol/melian and luthien au vibes

In an universe where Maia escapes the Catacombs, survives the wastes, meets with Jak and Daxter again, and ends up taking on the role of a mentor to them
In this universe, She unhelpfully attempts to suggest ways to turn Daxter back to normal. One such method was successful, so of course they're gonna come back and show off the results! That's how research works!

Ar-Pharazon from the Reverse Gondolin AU and as Witch-King of Numenor - thanks to @who-needs-words for helping develop this idea!
#silm#silmarillion#second age#ar pharazon#reverse gondolin au#(well more like the aftermath of gondolin reversal)#this au has consumed my life#on the plus side inspiration for feanor is finally reemerging from under the metaphorical couch so i might get something finwion-y done soo#aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa so much to draw so little time#seriously though golden nazgul is such a cool idea#whatever the mordor equivalent for the angband trio is (sauron pharazon and shelob maybe?) is going to look so cool in black and gold#black/gold black hole shelob!!#and prince elrond is super finwiony looking#also he has his wings & glowiness out a lot more so that'll be fun#but yeah basically in the au Prince Elrond realized via foresight what was happening/going to happen in numenor#so he went there and disowned ar pharazon (by extension removing him from the throne) and crowned tar miriel rightful Ruling Queen#then later when sauron showed up he came back kicked sauron out and outlawed the death cult#but between that time sauron secretly recruited ar pharazon by promising him kingship in exchange for his support#and anyways ar pharazon survived all the way to the TA as the Witch King#(mr. angmar here gets to be second in command of the nazgul sorry)#-imagine this guy showing up to be all 'bagginssss' though#the witch king of numenor is somehow even more dramatic#also the whole 'no living man can kill me' is. a bit different coming from a guy who has many enemies in the form of#a) his cousin the Ruling Queen of Numenor#b) his uncle the choice-of-elves-peredhel#c) a bunch of Faithful in the Halls#the dead guys aren't too much of a problem#but i wonder if he heard that prophecy and worried a whole lot more about the Ruling Queens#or Prince Elrond who in the au has very definitely embraced his maia-ness#and then imagine his surprise hearing 'but no living man am i' and it coming from. a random human lady.

you know for silvergifting children i feel as if I'm the only one who like,..hcs that celebrimbor has/carries the kids. i know there is this idea that sauron being a maia is responsible for him having the kids, but nothing really tells us that male elves' biology actually mirrors that of a human's biology, especially when celembrimbor's grandfather caught on fire in a way similar to that of a maia at the time of his death.
i think elves are just as magical and fluid in their gender/bodies as maia and nothing says that they can't or can't change or adapt or whatever

His gaze softened as he looked down at his darling mother. He moved to guide her to the lounge. He sat down pulling her feet up so he could begin to rub her feet. He let out a soft little hum at her praise. He knew she listened to him, after all she was his greatest fan. He was who he was because of her constant support.
"My day was nothing out of the ordinary." his strong hands moved up her ankle carefully not to cause her any discomfort.

dior is 100% the type to stab as a warning. if you choose to ignore this warning and keep on then you really have no one but yourself to blame when you find yourself flat on the ground with your insides turned to your outsides and at least one of your eyeballs ripped out

Watching people analyze a show I do not* watch (yes, RoP) again, because it's interesting ahd he shows the lyrics to the wandering song, and at 1st stanza I got an epiphany: Oh. This song is about death.
And then the second stanza is like meh… it doesn't fit at all. :(
Anyway. Those two stanzas have so different feel. Therefore I declare: The first stanza is a borrowing from some of the earlier (Mannish) cultures. The second stanza is their own (Harfoots' I mean).
\*business reasons not artistic reasons.

Struggling to pick an ending w the whole Gale/crown thing because I feel like he could be a good God. And that I'd rather he have it than Mystra or any of the other options. He could, in fact, do so much with it.
Like I understand that it's a repetition of Gale's folly and his overambition. And depending on how he acts about it (like if he says "I could do good with it" versus "I could be powerful") my opinion could change, but recognising that you don't HAVE to be good doesn't mean that he shouldn't help people EVER, right? If the alternative is leaving the crown in the ocean, why not let Gale take it?
And then also just from a romance plot perspective, I don't know if he'll go back to dying from the orb if he loses the tadpole, but if the crown would keep him alive then I'd want him to take it? I've seen people frame the orb as being "the consequences of his actions" but if those actions were taken because he was trying to prove himself to his teacher/Goddess/lover (ew) then I don't think he deserves to die or continue suffering when there's a way to cure him. He could be a good God. Or even just happy and alive. Ambition as a whole isn't a bad thing, Gale's was bad because he was self-destructive and put it above connecting with others, like how Astarion's is bad because it comes at the expense of others.
I mean I guess if Gale decides to leave Tav when he gets the crown then that is a symptom of destructive ambition. But my ideal outcome would be him getting the crown and studying it, potentially surviving from it, and maybe eventually gaining strength he could use to help people? And is that really a bad thing? It feels like the Gale plotline wants you to talk him down from being powerhungry, and then talk him down further into apathy and a fucking. House-husband lifestyle.
I would understand if the game is trying to say that power corrupts, but in a world that already has so many Gods I feel like it doesn't apply as much as it does in the real world. If Mystra the Groomer can be a God, why couldn't Gale? Especially since he wants to you know. Help the helpless
But I don't know if this opinion is normal or if I just also have the same Must Be Good And Useful compulsions lol.
