Daily Spells: July 14th
Feverfew Healing Magick
You’ll Need:
Equal parts dried feverfew, rosemary, and juniper berries
A cloth drawstring bag
Feverfew is an herb that is easily found in the summer months, and it gets its name because of its medicinal properties. It’s been used for centuries to treat all kinds of maladies. Blend it with other healing herbs to create magical aid for sick friends, family members, or even pets.
Blend the herbs together in the bag, as you do, say “May [NAME] be healed, and maladies vanish. May [NAME] be well, and sickness leave. May [NAME] be whole, and illness flee.”
Pull the drawstring tight. Place the bag under the sick person’s pillow, or on a windowsill in the room in which he or she is resting.

Elemental Herbs
By shirleytwofeathers
When creating spells for a specific purpose you may want to use herbs or flowers that resonate to a specific elemental power, for example – when igniting the “flames” of passion – you might want to saturate the space with “fire” herbs, when doing a moon spell you might want to use water herbs. Alternatively, for balance you might want a little of each.
With that in mind, here is a comprehensive listing of the four elements and their respective herbal correspondences. There are many different lists of elemental herbs – this was the most extensive one I found. Not every one agrees as to the elemental properties of some of the herbs listed. When in doubt, go with what seems right to you.

Magickal Correspondences: Friday
Word Origin: the term “Friday” comes from the Old English word “Frīgedæg.” This day was named after the wife of Odin, though her exact name has been debated. Some call her Frigg and others say Freya. Some scholars even view Frigg and Freya as two separate goddesses, but the root of the name remains the same in the etymology. In the Greco-Roman pantheon, Freya is translated to Aphrodite and Venus. Because of this association, the prefix “ven-“ is used in several other languages for the word “Friday”. For example, in Latin it is “Dies Veneris”, in Spanish it is “Viernes”, in French it is “vendredi”, and in Italian it is “venerdì”. Mythology: Freya is perhaps the most famous of the Norse Goddesses. Her name translates to “Lady” and she is the Goddess of love, sex, beauty, and prosperity. She is also a Goddess that is associated with witchcraft, and she famously teaches Odin witchcraft. She is also known as the leader of the Valkyrjur, and picked the heroes from the battlefield. She is known to drive a chariot driven by cats. As the wife of Odin, she has two children and therefore is associated with marriage and fertility. As the Goddess of marriages, it was also tradition to give new Viking brides a kitten as a gift. Perhaps the most sorrowful story of Freya is her search for her husband Odin. Freya is a Goddess of riches for good reason. She loves to wear jewels. One day she saw a beautiful necklace made by the dwarfs. She asked if she could buy the necklace from them, but they refused, saying it was too special for them. So enchanted was Freya by the necklace that she was willing to do anything to get it. The dwarfs struck a deal with Freya and said that if she married each of them for one day and one night they would give her the necklace. She agreed, but was unaware that Loki, the trickster God was privy to her disloyalty to her husband. He tells Odin of her disloyalty, and Odin was so enraged that he left. Freya now wears the necklace from the dwarfs and travels the earth, crying tears of amber in search of her husband. In honor of Freya, many women were given the title of Frúvor (“lady”) or Húsfreyja (“lady of the house”) when they owned property or rose in status. She is seen as a benevolent Goddess, and often answers the prayers of the devoted. Planet: Venus Element: Water Gender: Female Deities: Aphrodite, Eros, Freya, Venus Colors: Aqua, Copper Colors, Green, Light Blue, Pink Herbs and Plants: African Violet, Apples, Apple blossoms, Apricot, Barley, Birch, Cardamom, Carnations, Catnip, Columbine, Feverfew, Foxglove, Germanium, Goldenrod, Heather, Hibiscus, Iris, Lilac, Lime, Magnolia, Roses, Saffron, Sandalwood, Strawberries, Sweet Pea, Thyme Crystals: Aventurine, Blue Lace Agate, Copper, Coral, Emerald, Jade, Lapis Lazuli, Malachite, Moonstone, Quartz, Rose Quartz, Selenite Incense: Cardamom, Rose, Saffron, Sandalwood, Strawberry, Vanilla, Venus Oil, Yarrow Characteristics, Influences, and Energies: Arts, Beauty, Birth, Fertility, Friendship, Growth, Harmony, Incense, Love, Luxury, Marriage, Music, Nature, Partnerships, Peace, Perfumes, Platonic Love, Lust, Passion, Pleasure, Prosperity, Reconciliation, Relationships, Resolving Relationship Issues, Romance, Sexuality, Social Activities, Transformation

Correspondences in Witchcraft
I see a lot of people asking about correspondences and where they come from so I thought I'd help out with some of the common sources.
The problem I've found is that many folks don't give the sources for their correspondences, which can make things difficult when trying to make substitutions. In older spells, this was sometimes done by design to prevent any but a properly trained individual from going beyond the given spell. Some magical workers even included incorrect ingredients. If you were properly trained, you were supposed to recognize where you needed to make a substitution and know what to substitute. Apparently lavender was a popular false ingredient, which makes me wonder if that’s why I seem to see lavender in every spell. It smells good and isn’t likely to cause harm, but is it the best ingredient? Well, let’s leap into some correspondence sources.
Planetary Correspondences and Hermetic Qabalah - I'm going to put these together for our purposes. Ceremonial Magick or High Magic gave us correspondences based on the Qabalah and the planetary assignments. This system includes herbs, trees, stones, colors, and even appropriate days and times to work your magic. So love is Venus which is Friday with rose as a plant and emerald as a stone. If you want to create a spell or make a substitution, you'd just check your planetary correspondences and go from there. Or from here - https://www.alchemy-works.com/planetary_corresp.html - now that we're in the digital age.
(Note: refusing to learn about the Hermetic Qabalah doesn’t stop you from appropriating from Jewish sources. It means you just won’t recognize when you’re doing a spell or ritual with Qabalistic influences.)
The Doctrine of Signatures - Coming to us from folk medicine is the idea that a plant looks like the part of the body it heals. Many herbs have common names that reflect this: eyebright, lungwort, feverfew. This folk medicine became a science in its time and is still reflected in holistic medicine. Check out Culpeper's Herbal for interesting reading on medieval herb use. http://www.gutenberg.org/files/49513/49513-h/49513-h.htm You'll notice he drops in planetary correspondences because he was an educated man writing for other educated men. But common folk would know the names and uses of plants in their area.
Myth/Lore - Plants, stones and animals were often associated the different qualities based on myth and lore about them or about deities or other entities they were associated with. An easy example is owls, wisdom and Athena. Pomegranates and Persephone. This also comes into play when it comes to wands since the properties associated with the various woods are often drawn from myth correspondences. These days wand lore seems to come from Harry Potter but check here http://www.dragonoak.com/Magical-Wood-Properties.html for some more traditional ideas.
Inherent Qualities - Sweet things attract. Sharp things protect and repel. People who didn't have access to books often created their spells starting with the simple quality of the ingredients and gathered from wherever they were. This was then passed down in family or related traditions. The basic witch bottle is created along these lines.
Chakra Colors - I've seen this happening a lot with stones, crystals and candles. Blue crystals are good for the throat chakra and communication. Green for the heart chakra. I've noticed this coming into more modern spells - the candle correspondences being based on Chakras rather than planetary correspondences. If you're familiar enough with some of the more commonly used aspects of the two, you can often spot the difference. Note: Some stones do have ancient associations connected with healing and protection. For example, amethyst was said to protect against drunkenness and various jewels were popular in medieval times as protection against poison. Though that is one correspondence I wouldn't recommend experimenting with.
7 Rays (Theosophy) - There are other esoteric traditions that people may draw from Theosophy is one example of a less well known system but one I've been challenged at times to make use of. Theosophy assigns different qualities and different colors to its seven rays and those qualities and colors can be used as a form of correspondences for magical work. But the connections aren't always as direct as you'll find in planetary correspondences.
Personal Experience - We all have the ability to develop our own correspondences and use them in our work. In some witchcraft traditions, working directly with herbs, incenses and stones to determine how they work with you is part of the training. Requiring use of the material also helps you find correspondences for those things most available to you. Though you still know where to find more correspondences when necessary. Since personal correspondences are, well, personal, I'm not sure they work as well in spells created for public use.
The above gives you a start to researching correspondences, but what do you do with this knowledge? I suggest studying those sources enough to recognize what other witches and magick workers are up to. It will help you understand how they put their spells together and how to make substitutions when you need to. And use this knowledge and your own experience to develop your own correspondence list and your own spells.

BAB Lesson #2: Using Dried Herbs
So now that we can dry the herbs, how do we go about using them? Yes, you can keep them hanging if you like, they do make beautiful decorations. But what else? Well, if you like them looking just as they are, you can hang them and use them for their natural spiritual properties. Some like to create protection bundles to hang above their doorway, or a fertility bundle to hang above the bed when trying to conceive.
I prefer to use my dried herbs this way, putting them in sachets, or burning them (those that can be safely burned).

(Source: https://www.groveandgrotto.com/blogs/articles/a-witchs-glossary-of-herbs)
A good protection bundle would be: White sage, Rosemary and Juniper berry. If your protection bundle is in a small bag (or sachets) you could add fennel seeds as well.
When creating bundles or satchels some like to add crystals that have similar properties. What’s nice about crystals is you can also charge them (charging crystals will be covered in the next lesson). These are two of the more simple ways to use dried herbs, there are many others.
Search engines are your best friends when it comes to this stuff.
But all-in-all, a lot of it is very intuitive.
Most important of all, enjoy yourself. There’s no point to doing this if you find it tedious, as this energy will rub off onto all that you create.
Thanks for tuning it!

BLACK
Intense concentration of all colors(or lack of them all), it absorbs light. Unlike other
colors, black reflects very little, if any, light back to the viewer. This can give
the false impression that black is the absence of colour. It is actually the absence
of color reflection. Think of this color as a black hole in space. It absorbs all
light with little or no reflection back, thus it becomes a receptacle or a transporter
for all that you do not need or want. Properly used, it can be one of the most
useful and powerful colors available. However, misused, it can cause disaster.

that it is a higher vibration of these two colors and any one of the three can actually
be used on Sunday (sun) with success. The choice here is for you to experiment
and decide which colour best suits your particular needs. Generally speaking,
orange vibrates to physical and mental action, while yellow vibrates to mental
action only (better attributed to Wednesday/Mercury). Lastly, gold would be indicative of
intelligent, quick action with a monetary emphasis.

Gray-This color is unique, due to its aspect of neutrality. Gray can be used
to neutralize anything from a magickal act that not longer serves your best
interest, to the neutralization of destructive energies in a passive non-karmic
fashion. It is a perfect balance of black and white, and therefore absorbs and repels. With
this quality, gray draws in the undesirable energies and then sends them out to
the universe for dispersal as neither a destructive nor constructive properties.

in your intent regarding money sought with this color. If done with haste and no
specific intent it seems to fade quickly or trickle in a little at a time, just
enough to wet your appetite (refer to gold or brown). Green stimulates growth, plant life
or garden fairies. Green is an Earth color and is used on Friday. Depending
upon the magickal system you employ, it may be used on Wednesday as it is a healing

heart), while Wednesday emphasizes healing knowledge.

healing
techniques.
Orange-Orange is a combination of yellow/Mercury (mental agility) and
red/Mars (action-engery). Thus you have the best of both worlds, the energies of the
actions of red, yet the intelligence to know how to use this action. The over
aggressive nature of the colour red/Mars is now toned and tapered with the healing
wisdom rays of yellow/Mercury that nurtures the entire system. Sunday is the best
day for the use of the color orange. It can be used on Tuesday or Wednesday with

expansive, dealing more with the emotional and spiritual levels of Jupiter. Therefore,
the royal or dark blues of often attributed to Saturn. A word of caution,
