Overview
About
Uncover one of history’s greatest mysteries in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, a first-person, single-player adventure set between the events of Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade. The year is 1937, sinister forces are scouring the globe for the secret to an ancient power connected to the Great Circle, and only one person can stop them—Indiana Jones. You’ll become the legendary archaeologist in this cinematic action-adventure game from MachineGames, the award-winning studio behind the recent Wolfenstein series, and executive produced by Hall of Fame game designer Todd Howard.
You Are Indiana Jones
Live the adventure as Indy in a thrilling story full of exploration, immersive action, and intriguing puzzles. As the brilliant archaeologist—famed for his keen intellect, cunning resourcefulness, and trademark humor—you will travel the world in a race against enemy forces to discover the secrets to one of the greatest mysteries of all time.
A World of Mystery Awaits
Travel from the halls of Marshall College to the heart of the Vatican, the pyramids of Egypt, the sunken temples of Sukhothai, and beyond. When a break-in in the dead of night ends in a confrontation with a mysterious colossal man, you must set out to discover the world-shattering secret behind the theft of a seemingly unimportant artifact. Forging new alliances and facing familiar enemies, you’ll engage with intriguing characters, use guile and wits to solve ancient riddles, and survive intense set-pieces.
Whip-Cracking Action
Indiana’s trademark whip remains at the heart of his gear and can be used to distract, disarm, and attack enemies. But the whip isn’t just a weapon, it’s Indy’s most valuable tool for navigating the environment. Swing over unsuspecting patrols and scale walls as you make your way through a striking world. Combine stealth infiltration, melee combat, and gunplay to combat the enemy threat and unravel the mystery.
The Spirit of Discovery
Venture through a dynamic mix of linear, narrative-driven gameplay and open-area maps. Indulge your inner explorer and unearth a world of fascinating secrets, deadly traps and fiendish puzzles, where anything could potentially hide the next piece of the mystery—or snakes. Why did it have to be snakes?

About the Included Games
DOOM (1993) (Original Version) – The demons came and the marines died…except one. You are the last defense against Hell. Prepare for the most intense battle you’ve ever faced. Experience the complete, original version of the game released in 1993, now with all official content and Episode IV: Thy Flesh Consumed.
DOOM II (Original Version) – Hell has invaded Earth, and to save it, you must battle mightier demons with even more powerful weapons. This beloved sequel to the groundbreaking DOOM (1993) introduced players to the brutal Super Shotgun, the infamous Icon of Sin boss, and more intense FPS action.
TNT: Evilution – The UAC relocated their experiments to one of the moons of Jupiter. A spaceship, mistaken for a supply vessel, was granted access. But when it got close to the base, demons poured out. All your comrades were slaughtered or zombified. This time it’s not about survival. It’s about revenge.
The Plutonia Experiment – Every effort has been made by the nation’s top scientists to close the seven interdimensional Gates of Hell, but one portal remains open. Alone, you must infiltrate the ravaged base, defeat the demon Gatekeeper, and seal the last Hell portal before the undead take over the world.
Master Levels for DOOM II – This expansion includes twenty additional levels, all with the same hell-spawned horrors and action of the base game. Each level was created by independent designers and supervised by id Software.
Sigil – Created by id Software co-founder, John Romero, and released as an episode-sized mod consisting of 18 new maps, Sigil fits in between the timelines of DOOM (1993) and DOOM II. Baphomet, the gatekeeper of Hell, “glitched the final teleporter with his hidden sigil, whose eldritch power brings you to even darker shores of Hell. You fight through this stygian pocket of evil to confront the ultimate harbingers of Satan, then finally return to become Earth’s savior.”
Legacy of Rust – Created in collaboration by id Software, Nightdive Studios, and MachineGames, Legacy of Rust is the newest episode for DOOM, and the first official episode since DOOM II to feature new demons and weapons. This 16-map Episode is broken up into two eight-map sections: The Vulcan Abyss and Counterfeit Eden.

Quake II - Call of the Machine (2023)
Another Quake remaster, another MachineGames campaign created for it. I'll confess, I didn't like their Quake 1 campaign Dimension of the Machine as much as everyone else seemed to. I dunno, I was sorta burned-out on Quake at the time and should replay it in the near future.
Anywho, I went into Call of the Machine with trepidation; very much starting to think MachineGames' best output would be forever consigned to the Wolfenstein reboot and that would be it. But hey, I loves me some Quake II, so why not?
Anyway it's fucking fantastic, I'm not waiting til the end of the review to drop that bombshell.
Call plays out similarly to Dimension's progression system; a main hub of six mini-episodes that can all be beaten in any order the player chooses (although I heartily recommend left-to-right, as was recommended to me vicariously through discussion on DOOMworld's forums) before a final encounter can be accessed and then the campaign beaten.
Being playable in any order pretty much means there is a discrete difficulty curve for each one, although they all get rough. Combat is the primary focus throughout, almost in contrary to the other campaigns available on the 2023 remaster, and it takes a while to get accustomed to the flavour of things. In fact, I'd personally say the mapping has more the cadence and encounter design of modern DOOM community efforts more than the original '90s campaigns.
They've all got boss encounters, too -- although their nature vary from "reused Quake II enemy with maybe new attacks" to "giant version of a regular enemy", but they're fine. They're okay. There is an exception or two to this, but I ain't spoiling. Play the damn campaign.
It looks amazing, too. MachineGames' prior work with the original Quake had a astronomical level of polish which is dwarfed by what's on offer here for the sequel. I'm not even kidding, Call of the Machine is downright beautiful in places - an absolute joy to behold, in terms of form and function, colour and composition, spectacle and setpiece, stick your own alliterative pair of superlatives in here if you wish. It is.
Speaking of superlatives, I feel like I should balance this review a little with some negatives? Well, here goes. The music, which is all pulled from the remaster's pool of base game plus mission packs plus Quake II 64 for a few ambient tracks, is occasionally used in the most embarrassingly-cheesy way; a script will change the BGM mid-level to announce the arrival of a boss or wave-based combat encounter and it's almost funny sometimes. Also the ending's a bit, well, unsatisfying? I guess, but given the plot of the expansion it has to be what it is. Look, I tried.
Call of the Machine is an essential playthrough for fans of the singleplayer Quake games. That's the word. 5/5

When i bring up "id lore", i mention how BJ in classic Wolf had a son who got into showbiz (Arthur Kenneth Blaze) and BJ’s wife is named Julia Marie Peterson.
While MachineGames replaced those with Anya and a twins, which in my opinion affects the relation to Keen and Doomguy.
But i forgot another thing: His parents in the official strategy guide/hint book are stated to be both Polish immigrants.
Wolfenstein 2 gives him an American born father called Rip Blazkowicz (though the surname could simply some Polish background too but still).
But there's also how modern BJ is from Texas while classic BJ is from Wisconsin (Can't find info on this part though).
