What to Consider When Choosing a Mac Screen Repair Service
When your MacBook screen gets damaged, finding the right repair service becomes crucial. Whether you're dealing with a cracked glass, malfunctioning LCD, or a complete screen failure, choosing a trustworthy repair service is essential to ensure your device is restored properly and efficiently. With so many repair options available, it can be overwhelming to know where to go.
1. Reputation and Reviews
One of the most important factors to consider when choosing a Mac screen repair service is its reputation. You want to ensure that the repair service is trustworthy, reliable, and has a history of successful repairs. A good reputation is a reflection of high-quality work, professionalism, and customer satisfaction.
1.1 Check Reviews and Testimonials
Online Reviews: Look for reviews on platforms like Google, Yelp, or Trustpilot. Read both positive and negative feedback to get an honest picture of the service quality.
Word of Mouth: Ask friends, family, or colleagues if they have had experiences with a particular repair service. Personal recommendations are often the best way to find reliable repair services.
Rating and Reputation: Choose a repair service with consistently high ratings and positive reviews, especially those that mention the types of repairs you need (Mac screen repairs in particular).
1.2 Certifications and Expertise
Apple Certified Technicians: Some repair services employ Apple Certified technicians who have undergone specialized training and are recognized by Apple. These technicians are familiar with the ins and outs of MacBooks and have access to official Apple parts.
Experience: It’s always a good idea to choose a repair service with significant experience working on MacBook repairs, especially if your device is a newer or high-end model.
2. Cost of Repair
Cost is a major consideration when choosing a repair service, but it’s important to balance affordability with quality. While you may be tempted to go with the cheapest option, this can sometimes result in subpar repairs or the use of low-quality parts.
2.1 Get Multiple Quotes
To ensure you’re paying a fair price, contact several repair shops and ask for quotes. Many repair shops offer free estimates, so don’t hesitate to shop around. Compare the quotes carefully, but keep in mind that the lowest price might not always be the best choice.
2.2 Understand the Breakdown of Costs
Parts: Ask whether the service uses original Apple parts or third-party components. While third-party parts can be cheaper, they might not offer the same quality or longevity as Apple-certified components.
Labor: Ensure that the quote includes both parts and labor, and ask if there are any hidden fees.
Warranty: Some repair services offer warranties on their work, which can provide peace of mind in case the issue resurfaces after the repair.
2.3 Consider Apple Authorized Service Providers (AASPs)
If cost is a major factor for you, keep in mind that Apple Authorized Service Providers (AASPs) offer competitive pricing while maintaining the integrity of your warranty. If your MacBook is still under warranty, an AASP will help keep that coverage intact, unlike third-party repair shops.
3. Turnaround Time
When your MacBook screen is broken, you likely need it fixed as quickly as possible. Depending on your schedule and how much you rely on your device, the turnaround time for the repair can be a significant factor.
3.1 Ask About Estimated Repair Time
Same-Day Repairs: Some repair services offer same-day repairs, especially for common issues like cracked glass. If you’re in a rush, look for services that offer quick turnaround times.
Time Frame: For more complicated repairs, like LCD replacements or full screen assembly fixes, the repair may take longer, often a few days. Ask for an estimated repair time and check the shop’s ability to meet deadlines.
3.2 Availability of Parts
Parts Stock: Make sure the repair service has the necessary parts in stock to complete the repair promptly. If parts need to be ordered, this could delay the repair process.
Apple Parts: If your MacBook is still under warranty, the use of official Apple parts will be necessary for proper service. Be sure to inquire about part availability if you choose an Apple Authorized Service Provider.
4. Warranty on Repairs
A reputable repair service should provide a warranty on their work. This warranty serves as a guarantee that if something goes wrong after the repair, you can return the device and have it fixed free of charge.
4.1 What the Warranty Covers
Repair Warranty: Confirm what is covered under the repair warranty. A warranty should typically cover any issues related to the repair, such as screen malfunctions or parts failure.
Length of Warranty: Check the duration of the warranty. A good repair service should offer at least a 30- to 90-day warranty for their repairs.
Transferable Warranty: If you're buying a used MacBook or getting it repaired for resale, check if the warranty is transferable.
4.2 Apple Warranty and AppleCare+
If your MacBook is still under the Apple warranty or AppleCare+ plan, it’s crucial to choose a repair service that will preserve this coverage. Choosing a non-authorized third-party repair service can void your warranty, leaving you without the support from Apple if other issues arise. In this case, it's often better to go to an Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider.
5. Location and Convenience
Consider the location of the repair service when making your decision. The closer the shop is to you, the more convenient it will be to drop off and pick up your MacBook.
5.1 Proximity to Your Location
Local Repair Shops: Look for a repair service near your home or office to minimize inconvenience. Many local repair shops offer competitive prices and quicker turnaround times compared to larger chains.
5.2 Mobile Repair Services
Some companies offer mobile repair services where technicians come to your location to fix your MacBook. While this can be a convenient option, ensure that the technician is properly certified and has the required parts to complete the repair.
6. Customer Service and Communication
Good customer service can make the repair process smoother and less stressful. From the moment you contact the repair service, pay attention to their professionalism, responsiveness, and willingness to answer your questions.
6.1 Transparency and Communication
Clear Communication: Choose a repair service that communicates clearly about the process, pricing, and time estimates. Transparency is essential when you’re entrusting your device to a repair technician.
Customer Support: A good repair shop should be available to address any concerns or updates about your repair. Whether it’s by phone, email, or chat, reliable customer support will ensure you’re kept in the loop.
6.2 Customer Experience
The experience you have when you first interact with the service provider can give you an idea of how they treat their customers. A repair service that treats its customers with respect and professionalism is more likely to deliver quality work.
7. Specialized Services for Your Mac Model
MacBooks come in various models with different designs, components, and technical requirements. Look for a repair service that specializes in MacBook repairs or has experience with your specific model.
7.1 MacBook Pro vs. MacBook Air
MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models often have different screen specifications and repair requirements. Ensure that the repair service is familiar with your model and has the right parts in stock.
7.2 Model-Specific Expertise
For newer MacBook models (such as those with Retina displays, Touch Bars, or the M1 chip), the repair service should be well-versed in handling these advanced components. If your MacBook has these features, ensure the repair provider is equipped to handle them properly.
Choosing the right Mac screen repair service is essential for ensuring that your device gets fixed correctly and promptly. To make the best decision, consider factors such as reputation, cost, repair time, warranty, and customer service. Whether you go with an Apple Authorized Service Provider or a local repair shop, make sure they have the expertise to handle your MacBook model and provide high-quality parts. By taking these considerations into account, you can feel confident that your MacBook will be restored to its optimal condition with minimal hassle.

@mashumaru I hope you don't mind me answering your question here? There was no way this was fitting in the comments section. 😅 So these are what I'd call more Sunday afternoon murder mysteries then gritty crime dramas, as that's what I'm mainly watching at the mo. But if you'd like some darker recs, just let me know.
Anywho...
Midsomer Murders
The ultimate Sunday afternoon watch. Murder most foul, represented artistically in the form of a cream tea. Starring Inspector Barnaby(s), the most teddy bear men ever to exist. Every episode will include chocolate box village eye porn. Murder weapons have included but are not limited to: a cheese wheel, drowned in chocolate, a headless horseman and a steampunk werewolf. It sounds ridiculous but once you start, you won't be able to stop. I promsie you. The horrors: 0/10, though may leave you with a life long phobia of morris dancers and village fetes.
The Morseverse (Endeavour/Inspector Morse and Lewis)
Ah Morseverse, my beloved. The English academic elite does crime. Oxford is it's own splendorous character, with every episode crammed full of towering libraries, awe inspiring architecture and fanatically manicured, college quads. A must watch for those whose hearts belong to dark academia. Endeavour and Morse are set in the 60s/70s and 80s/90s respectively. And follow the same character, Endeavour Morse, from brilliant, blue eyed, troubled twink to brilliant, blue eyed, grumpy old man with a definite alcohol problem. (Never play drink along with Morse, it's a surefire way to get alcohol poisoning.) The baton is then passed to his sergeant, Robert Lewis in Lewis, set in the relative present (as of this post). The relationship between Inspector and Sergeant is what ultimately makes these series, be it Fred Thursday and Morse, Morse and Lewis and Lewis and James Hathaway. And you'll come to treasure them. Be prepared to leave these series with a well earned fictional degree in classical music. Murders CAN and WILL be based on obscure, literary references. The horrors: Well it depends.... I'd say Endeavour is the darkest, Lewis is the lightest with Morse settled nicely in between. If you finish this series not wanting a Jaguar Mark II, you did it wrong.
Vera
Vera Stanhope, my northumbrian queen, my geordie goddess. A middle aged plus woman, with no makeup (or two f*cks to rubs together) decked in a brown hat and mac and driving the world most beaten up land rover.... Owns everyone. And it is sooo satisfying to watch. The scenic southern eye candy of the two previous recs is replaced with the wild, isolated landscapes of the North, very much reflecting our DI. She's joined by sergeant dark and dishy and the ever more put up Kenny Lockhart, as well as host of others. But what really makes this series is Vera herself. As equally formidable as she is kind hearted, with no hint of glamour. She's the kind of female representation we both need and deserve. The horrors: Vera passive aggressively calling vicious murderers 'pet' fixes all world problems. It's scientifically proven.
Things you may have heard of:
Sherlock Holmes, the Granada edition starring Jeremy Brett. No finer Sherlock has ever graced our screens to this day (And yes, I will stand and fight for that statement.) One of the most loyal adaptations of the books ever made.
Poirot, staring David Suchet. No offence to Kenneth Branagh (Your Henry V got me through high-school English lit sir). But David Suchet is THE Prirot for me. Another loyal book adaptation. Over a 25 year period Suchet lived and breathed Poirot and it shows.
If anyone's got any other recommendations please feel free to add them on. I know I've missed a ton! Anywho, I hope that helps me dear. 😁

12 and... take a guess... (Henjasp pls)
"Zoom meeting and A (*cough* Hendrik *cough*) doesn't know how to turn off the dog filter" (354 words)
An early-morning meeting. Two cups of coffee. One lemon poppyseed muffin.
None of that had prepared Jasper to log into the weekly Zoom meeting to find a 3D rendered brown dog staring back at him in his little square. Tiny, cartoonish eyes blinked as Jasper gawked at him. On the bottom of the user’s box read the name, “Hendrik.”
Jasper, whose legs had been folded up like a pretzel in his office chair, paused and rubbed the sleep out of his eyes.
“What in the everliving—” he said as a notification appeared at the bottom of the screen to let him know he was muted.
He unmuted himself and repeated the sentiment once more.
“Good morning, Jasper,” Hendrik said as other boxes began to flicker on with coworkers joining the meeting.
Jasper noted some people covering their mouths, eyes crinkled up in amusement.
“Good morning, everyone,” dog-Hendrik repeated. “Please give me just a second as I try to fix my machine.”
“You need to go into settings,” Jasper said. “You have to go into the avatar settings and select ‘None.’”
“Can I still do that when I’m in a meeting?” Hendrik asked.
Somehow, he looked even more pathetic in a dog form.
“Yes,” Jasper said.
As he spoke, the chat box lit up with one unread message: an article leading to the same steps Jasper had already spoken aloud. Hopefully it had images like a picture book to guide Hendrik through it step-by-step.
“I am not seeing it,” Hendrik said.
“Are you on a mac?”
“Yes.”
“Go to system preferences.”
“Okay.”
Hendrik continued to parrot Jasper’s instructions as he clicked through the menus himself, Jasper keeping his messages curt. It didn’t take as long as Jasper thought to get the dog avatar reverted, revealing Hendrik’s face with those stray strands of lavender hair sitting on his shoulders. His cheeks flared pink as he shifted in his chair and adjusted his camera.
“Well then, thank you, Jasper. After that small hiccup, are we prepared to start?”
Jasper held back a smug grin as he gave a nod. “Absolutely.”

Looking Through A Window (21)
Tumblr media
macriley married undercover au
masterlist.
*****
When the group text comes—yes, a fucking group text—timed to coincide with the end of the grace period for coming clean as the mole, it contains only one sentence: We have overcome this before and we will find you again.
Before—the implications of the word feel like a bat to the skull. Yet another piece of information they should’ve known from the start, but didn’t.
The text is all the evidence needed for Matty to give Riley the green light to hack the other alphabet agencies and look for prior operations involving the Patriots that the FBI evidently chose not to disclose. If there’s any record of it, Riley will find it. Unless it happened off the books, like so many Phoenix missions do, in which case there won’t be a trace of it anywhere.
Hours ago, Riley sat down at the kitchen table and started hacking. She hasn’t moved since, her body still in a way Mac’s could never be—both feet fully on the floor, no tapping or wiggling, hardly even a shift in weight. Only her fingers fly over the keys and her eyes slide back and forth across the screen.
She’s pissed in a way Mac didn’t expect. Pissed at being lied to. Pissed at being sent to clean up someone else’s mess. Pissed at having to endure the Patriots’ extremist bullshit and obvious loathing of her existence, simply because she is the best at what she does and the previous agent was not. The look on her face says she’d very much like to hit someone.
Riley tells him to get lost. Mac periodically delivers food and water but otherwise stays out of her way, as asked, suddenly understanding how she felt when their roles were reversed and she was the one left twiddling her thumbs while he built the bombs.
Banished from the apartment, he spends some quality time with Harley, playing fetch in the park across the street. Except, she only brings the ball halfway back each time, forcing Mac to retrieve it too. She holds the grimy tennis ball in her mouth and stares at him, then drops it when he approaches. As long as he’s walking toward her, Harley’s tail is wagging, but as soon as he stops so does the tail, and she’s fixing him with a look he can only describe as impatience—if a dog can even feel such a thing.
The sun is hot on Mac’s face, and sweat makes his shirt stick to his skin. Birds he doesn’t know how to identify flit between bushes and trees. Across the park, an older man with binoculars watches them intently. What a luxury, Mac thinks, to be able to completely ignore one’s surroundings and focus on something as simple as a bird. He can’t imagine ever being able to walk into a room without sweeping it first, much less forgo his spatial awareness entirely.
He picks up Harley’s ball, grimacing at the slobber.
Someone else’s dog sends the birds skyward, and the man lowers his binoculars with a frown.
A day in the park gives Mac a lot of time to think. Not just about the op, but about other things too. Like where he wants to take Riley for their first official date. And the filthy things she’ll hopefully let him do after.
If they were in L.A., he’d take her to play skeeball at the arcade on the Santa Monica pier—she’s always wanted to, and there’s still time before it’s overrun by tourists—and then to a nice dinner at a restaurant overlooking the ocean. He’d be nervous the entire time, tripping over his feet and words alike, and she’d no doubt laugh and say, “It’s just me,” and Mac would have to confess that is precisely the reason why he is so awkward and jittery. Because taking this next step with her is terrifying.
There are so many ways he could screw this up, repeats of previous mistakes or brand new ones. But Mac refuses to dwell on them. If he stays in the present and keeps an eye on the future, everything will be just fine.
Although, there’s always the chance they die on this op, and then there’s no future at all.
Harley barks at him, annoyed that he’s just standing there and not throwing the ball.
They stay out until Riley texts him a gif of Fred and Wilma Flintstone kissing. A simple text shouldn’t make Mac’s heart skip a beat, but it does.
I’m ready for a break ;)
He and Harley sprint back to the apartment.
Like she knew he’d return as fast as humanly possible, Riley is standing in the open doorway, arms crossed. Amusement glitters in her eyes.
Forgoing any sort of greeting, Mac holds up his phone and asks, “The Flintstones? Really?”
Dark eyes assess him, lingering on his lips. “Did you run here? Really?”
“Maybe you just take my breath away.”
“Maybe,” she parrots, tugging him closer and running her hands up his chest, “you’re just a shameless flirt.” Lips ghosting his, she adds, “Good thing I like you that way.”
Kissing Riley is Mac’s new favorite thing. He thinks that every time they cross into a new level of intimacy, and he’ll definitely say it once they have sex, but it’s true. Call him a sap or whatever; he doesn’t care. Her lips are soft and inviting, and Mac wouldn’t mind suffocating if it meant kissing her longer.
One of his hands presses into her lower back, pulling her body into his, and she makes that sound again. The one that slipped out when they were hiding in that hallway at the fundraiser, the one that changed his brain chemistry. He kisses her jawline, her neck.
Harley barks at them, and when they don’t pull apart she shoves her head between their legs, forcing them to make room for her. “Your dog is very bossy today,” Mac says.
Riley drags her fingers through his hair, behind his ear. “You let her get away with everything.”
Humming in agreement, Mac kisses her again. And again.
****
Mac reads until his eyelids grow heavy and the book tips forward in his hands. Riley still hasn’t come to bed. He checks his phone—nearly one a.m. Even though he wants nothing more than to roll over and go to sleep, lights still on, he forces himself to get up and check on Riley.
He finds her on the couch with her eyes closed, computer still on her lap, and Harley dozing between her feet. He wishes he’d brought his phone so he could take a picture. “Hey,” he murmurs, gently shaking Riley’s shoulder. “Let’s get you to bed.” Her eyes flutter open.
“I’m not done yet.”
Mac chuckles. “Your computer’s asleep and so are you.” Before she can protest, Mac closes her laptop and sets it on the coffee table. “Come on.”
She mutters something Mac translates as, “Just bring me a blanket. I’m fine here.”
“You’re ridiculous.”
“So are you.”
“Come on,” Mac repeats, even as he gathers her in his arms and lifts her off the couch. She opens her eyes just long enough to give him a defiant glare, then nuzzles her face into his shoulder, an utterly unconvincing protest if Mac ever saw one. “You need rest.”
“You sound like Jack.”
What can he say? He learned from the best.
Mac sets her on the bed with a kiss on the forehead, lips lingering. It’s all he can do for now, aside from waiting for Riley to figure out this whole mess. The bomb scheme was his. This witch hunt is hers.
It bothers him that the pieces still don’t line up. They got this case from the FBI, yet the FBI claims to have no record of any prior action on their part. So if the feds didn’t put someone undercover, then who did? The rest of the alphabet can’t operate on U.S. soil—at least legally. But the Patriots aren’t yet a big enough threat to warrant black ops involvement, his own presence notwithstanding. For all Mac knows, Matty agreeing to take this op was purely so that the FBI director would owe her. She’s calculating like that.
Surprisingly, Riley doesn’t immediately pass back out; instead she starts getting ready for bed. Even more surprisingly, she starts changing into her pajamas in the middle of the room, right in front of Mac.
His jaw drops. “What are you doing?” His voice wavers in a pathetic state of horny distress as her shirt comes off, then her bra, and he’s left with a perfect view of her muscled back. The snake and dagger tattoo is still there, albeit faded.
She replies flatly, “What does it look like I’m doing?”
“You. . . you. . .can’t just. . .naked—”
“Change my clothes in front of you, which I’ve done about a million times? Besides, you saw me naked a couple weeks ago. This is nothing.”
He looks like a fish and a fool with his eyes wide and mouth still hanging open, but his face is frozen in that expression, with no hope of melting any time soon. Maybe that expression will be permanently stuck, maybe—
The spell breaks when she throws her jeans at him. They’re still warm.
“I didn’t find anything about a mole when I hacked the FBI, but I may or may not have done a little snooping while I was in there,” she says, changing the subject. On cue, his work-brain takes over and forces his body into functionality. Mac wonders if there will ever be a day when his body isn’t ruled by that part of his instinct and paranoia-driven subconscious.
“Find anything good?” He has to stare at the floor to stay focused while she puts on those stupid gray pajama shorts.
“I looked into the agent Harley was supposed to be paired with. The guy was in his early forties, KIA right here in Houston, of all places. He and Harley would’ve been introduced just a week later.”
Silence falls as they mourn the loss of a fellow agent and the life Harley should’ve had. Who knows what will happen to her now, after this op is over. Maybe she’ll get paired with someone else from the L.A. office and they could visit her, but then again she could be sent somewhere else entirely and—
The L.A. office.
“Riles, he was from the L.A. office.”
“I know that.”
“Then why was he fifteen-hundred miles outside of his jurisdiction when he died?”
She stops dead in her tracks, one sock still on, and bolts for her laptop.
KIA means that Harley’s agent died while working. He didn’t die in an everyday tragedy like Mac has been picturing all this time.
Riley saved the agent’s file. “To finish reading later,” she explains like it’s no different than saving a newspaper and not ten types of illegal. “Single gunshot wound to the chest. Killed him instantly.”
There’s only one explanation. And Mac really doesn’t like it.
“Harley’s agent was the Patriots’ previous mole,” Riley voices for them both.
The previous mole. Who the Patriots found and killed.
Which prompted the FBI to ask the Phoenix to clean up their mess, and they threw in the dog to boot.
Those fuckers.
“Do you think,” Riley begins nervously, “that Harley was supposed to be on the op with that agent?”
“Shit.” Mac rubs his face. “Probably?”
If Harley had been brought in by that agent, then this op would’ve been over before it began. German shepherds are a popular enough breed, but Harley has such a distinct personality that someone would have recognized her.
And Mac and Riley would’ve never seen it coming.
.
A bit of housekeeping: I'm going to stop using the tag list since most of the users on it no longer appear in the notes of each chapter update. (And to those of you who reblog every chapter with commentary in the tags... I love you.) If anyone does still rely on getting tagged, please let me know!

MacBook Repair in Faridabad
MacBooks are some of the most popular and long-lasting laptops on the market. They are known for their durability and high-quality. However, they are not indestructible. Instead, in some ways it’s worse to damage a MacBook. While other laptops can be fixed or have their parts replaced, this is not so easy for MacBooks. It needs professional skills and experience. If you have experienced some issues with your MacBook, don't need to panic. MacBook Repair in Faridabad will provide you with some common issues that can happen to your Mac, and also offer you the solution to deal with it.
Issues that can prevent your MacBook from performing at its best:
Accidental drop: Damage from being dropped because of their all-metal unibody design. If a MacBook is dropped, it is very likely to become dented, which can permanently damage the computer. It could become severely dented, making it difficult to close the lid. The screen can crack, which would render the computer unusable. Internal components can get damaged, causing data loss or hardware failures. It could be damaged beyond repair, making it necessary to buy a new one.
Using low quality charger: It’s common for users to use third-party chargers for their MacBooks because they are so much cheaper than those sold by Apple. However, these cheap, knock-off chargers can end up damaging the MacBook. This is because original Apple chargers have many security features. Those features help protect the MacBook from problems like power surges.
Dust and dirt: Dust and dirt can significantly affect the performance of your MacBook. It can accumulate in the cooling vents, blocking airflow and clog the fan. This can lead to overheating. An overheated MacBook can affect the CPU and GPU, it can affect the performance issues. Overheating due to dust or dirt can lead to permanent damage to internal components, such as motherboard, battery or harddrive. If the dust get inside the keyboard it can affect its sensitivity and make it less responsive.
High temperature: High temperature can affect the health condition of MacBook. MacBooks are not designed to withstand such high temperatures, and this can lead to permanent damage, like a swollen battery, a warped screen, and in worse cases melted internal components.
Liquid spil: Many people damage their MacBook by spilling liquid on it because they weren’t being careful enough when handling liquids around their laptops. This is because lots of people aren’t aware that MacBooks are not water-resistant. If water seeps into the MacBook, it can short circuit and rust the internal components, rendering the MacBook unusable. To prevent damage from spilled liquids, you should be careful when handling liquids around your MacBook.
Harsh cleaning: MacBooks are made with an anodized aluminum chassis, which is a type of aluminum that has been treated to make it more durable and resistant to corrosion. However, this treatment can be damaged by harsh cleaning agents (like acetone, ammonia, hydrogen peroxide, or abrasives) available as household cleaners. These agents can strip the anodized coating from the aluminum, leaving it susceptible to corrosion and other damage.
Accidental scratch: The MacBook has an aluminum body, which can get scratched quite easily compared to other laptops. Brushing the MacBook with a dry, rough cloth. Using a soft-bristled brush on it. Wearing a metallic wristwatch while typing. Placing it on a sharp or rough surface.
Excess pressure: Many users damage their MacBooks by putting heavy items, like books on them, or by sleeping beside them and unknowingly rolling onto the MacBook while they’re asleep. MacBooks are fragile computer and aren’t able to take such pressure, especially on a regular basis. From cracking the screen to damaging the hinges, there are a lot of possible consequences of exerting undue pressure on your MacBook.
A MacBook is durable, however, it can encounter with different issues. A few things can help you to take care of your favorite device, like a well-padded sleeve, a MagSafe pouch, hardshell cases, and screen protectors. These can get you started. The Cost of Mac Screen Repair: What to Expect
A damaged Mac screen is one of the most common issues users encounter, whether it’s a cracked display, dead pixels, or other forms of screen malfunction. While this can be a frustrating problem, the good news is that screen repairs are possible. However, the cost of Mac screen repair can vary significantly depending on several factors, including the model of your Mac, the type of damage, and where you go for the repair.
1. Factors Affecting the Cost of Mac Screen Repair
Several factors influence how much you can expect to pay for a Mac screen repair. These include the model of your Mac, the severity of the damage, the repair method you choose, and whether you go through Apple or an independent repair service.
1.1 Mac Model
The model of your Mac plays a major role in determining the cost of repair. Apple’s devices, such as the MacBook, MacBook Pro, iMac, and MacBook Air, come in a range of sizes and configurations. The more advanced and newer the model, the higher the repair costs are likely to be.
MacBook Air and MacBook (13-inch): These models tend to be less expensive to repair compared to the MacBook Pro. The cost of replacing a screen on a 13-inch MacBook Air typically ranges between $300 and $500.
MacBook Pro (13-inch, 15-inch, and 16-inch): The MacBook Pro, especially the 15-inch and 16-inch models, can be more expensive to repair due to the higher quality of the screen and the complexity of the repair. For example, the cost of replacing a screen on a MacBook Pro can range from $500 to $1,000 or more, depending on the model and the specific damage.
iMac and iMac Pro: Replacing the screen on an iMac can be quite costly due to the larger screen size and the complexity of the internal components. Repairing an iMac screen typically costs between $600 and $1,500, with iMac Pro repairs being on the higher end of that range.
MacBook Retina Displays and Touch Bar Models: If you own a MacBook with a Retina display or a MacBook with a Touch Bar, expect to pay a premium for screen repairs. These displays are more expensive to replace due to their high resolution, specialized technology, and the precision required in the repair.
1.2 Type of Damage
The severity and type of screen damage can also impact the cost of repair. Common types of damage include:
Cracked Screens: A cracked screen is one of the most common reasons for Mac screen repair. This is typically a cosmetic issue, but if the damage is severe enough to affect the display or touch functionality, a replacement is required. Depending on the model, the cost for a cracked screen repair ranges from $250 to $1,200.
Dead Pixels: If your screen has dead pixels (small, black spots that don't display any color), this can be an annoyance but doesn’t always require a full screen replacement. In some cases, a repair may be as simple as replacing the screen’s ribbon cable or recalibrating the screen. However, in many cases, the only solution is to replace the screen entirely. Dead pixel repairs can cost anywhere from $200 to $1,000.
Display Malfunctions: Issues like flickering, distorted colors, or malfunctioning backlight may not require a full replacement of the screen. Depending on the issue, repairs might be as simple as fixing connections or replacing internal components. These types of repairs generally range from $150 to $500.
Touchscreen Issues (MacBook Pro with Touch Bar): If you have a MacBook with a Touch Bar and experience problems with the touchscreen or the Touch Bar, the cost of repair can be higher. Replacing the entire display or Touch Bar can cost anywhere from $500 to $1,200, depending on the damage and the model.
1.3 Repair Service Choice
Where you go for the repair also affects the cost. You have three main options: Apple Authorized Service Providers (AASPs), Apple itself, or third-party repair shops.
Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Providers (AASP): If you go directly to Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider, you’ll likely pay the highest price for the repair. Apple offers a warranty on its repairs, and you can be assured of using genuine Apple parts, but this comes at a premium. For example, replacing a MacBook Pro screen at Apple can cost anywhere from $500 to $1,200, depending on the model.
Third-Party Repair Shops: Independent repair shops often offer more competitive prices than Apple’s authorized service. These repair shops may use aftermarket parts (which can be less expensive than OEM parts), potentially reducing repair costs. For example, third-party shops may charge between $200 and $800 for MacBook screen repairs, depending on the model and the extent of the damage.
DIY Repair Kits: For tech-savvy individuals who feel confident in their ability to replace the screen themselves, DIY repair kits can be a cost-effective option. These kits typically range from $150 to $500, depending on the model and quality of the replacement parts. However, it’s essential to keep in mind that performing repairs yourself can void your warranty, and there is a risk of further damage to your Mac if the repair is done incorrectly.
2. AppleCare+ and Warranty Coverage
If your Mac is still under warranty or if you have AppleCare+ coverage, you may be eligible for a lower-cost repair. AppleCare+ provides extended coverage, including accidental damage protection (subject to a deductible), which can help offset the cost of repairs.
AppleCare+ Coverage: If you have AppleCare+, screen repairs for accidental damage typically cost a flat fee. For example, screen repairs for MacBook models under AppleCare+ often cost between $300 and $400, depending on the model.
Warranty Coverage: If the screen issue is caused by a manufacturing defect and is still within the warranty period, Apple may repair it for free or at a reduced cost. However, most screen damage is considered accidental and will not be covered under the standard warranty unless it is a defect.
3. What to Expect: Typical Price Ranges
Here’s a general breakdown of what you can expect in terms of pricing for Mac screen repairs:
MacBook Air (13-inch): $250–$500
MacBook Pro (13-inch): $500–$800
MacBook Pro (15-inch or 16-inch): $800–$1,200
iMac (21.5-inch or 27-inch): $600–$1,500
MacBook Pro with Touch Bar: $600–$1,200
DIY Repair Kits: $150–$500
4. How to Save on Mac Screen Repair Costs
AppleCare+: If you already have AppleCare+, take advantage of the lower repair fees.
Third-Party Repair Services: Compare prices from authorized Apple repair shops and independent repair shops to find a good deal.
DIY Repair: If you’re confident in your abilities, a DIY repair can save you a significant amount of money, but ensure you understand the risks involved.
Look for Discounts: Some repair shops offer discounts or bundle deals if you repair multiple parts or screens. Also, check for student discounts or seasonal promotions.
The cost of Mac screen repair depends on several factors, including your Mac model, the type of damage, and whether you go to Apple or a third-party repair service. While repairing a cracked or malfunctioning screen can be costly, understanding the different repair options and costs can help you make an informed decision. If your Mac is still under warranty or you have AppleCare+, you may benefit from reduced costs. Alternatively, third-party repair services and DIY kits offer more affordable options, but they come with their own risks. Always evaluate the repair cost in relation to the value of your device and your ability to perform the repair yourself.

In Ottawa, the demand for phone screen repair services has surged significantly.
Introduction
In Ottawa, the demand for phone screen repair services has surged significantly. As smartphones have become indispensable tools, a damaged screen can severely impact daily activities. Consequently, knowing where to find reliable and efficient repair services is crucial.
Common Causes of Screen Damage
Phone screens are frequently damaged by accidental drops, impacts, and pressure. These incidents often result in cracks, scratches, or complete shattering. Ottawa's harsh winter conditions, with icy sidewalks and extreme cold, contribute to the increased risk of drops and damage. Thus, preventative measures, such as using protective cases and screen guards, are highly recommended.
Available Repair Options
Ottawa offers a variety of phone screen repair options, including:
Authorized Service Centers: These centers provide high-quality repairs using original parts. However, the costs can be higher, and the waiting times longer.
Independent Repair Shops: Many independent shops in Ottawa offer affordable and quick repair services. They often use third-party parts, which can be a viable option for budget-conscious customers.
DIY Repair Kits: For those who are tech-savvy, DIY repair kits are available. These kits include tools and instructions, though the risk of further damage remains.
Choosing the Right Service
When selecting a repair service, several factors should be considered. Firstly, the reputation of the service provider is paramount. Reviews and word-of-mouth recommendations can provide valuable insights. Additionally, the cost and warranty offered on repairs are crucial aspects to evaluate.
Transitioning to Repair
Once the decision to repair has been made, contacting the chosen service provider is the next step. Many shops in Ottawa offer online booking systems, making the process convenient. Furthermore, some providers offer mail-in services, adding an extra layer of convenience for customers.
Conclusion
Phone screen repair in Ottawa is an essential service due to the high prevalence of screen damage. By understanding the common causes, available repair options, and key considerations, residents can make informed decisions to restore their devices efficiently. Remember, taking preventative measures can significantly reduce the likelihood of needing repairs.

Saturday Morning Coffee
Good morning from Charlottesville, Virginia! ☕️
Tumblr media
Another week and month in the books. We’ve crossed into February and Punxsutawney Phil says six more weeks of winter. I’m ok with that. Coffees ready, let’s get going.
MARK KENNEDY • Yahoo
Carl Weathers, linebacker-turned-actor who starred in ‘Rocky’ movies and ‘The Mandalorian,’ dies
I remember seeing Rocky as a kid and I didn’t much like Apollo Creed. He was arrogant, cocky, and besides, the star of the show was Rocky, the underdog. Of course they eventually became friends and I liked him then.
I loved him as Al Dillon in Preditor and as Chubbs in Happy Gilmore.
R.I.P.
Amanda Richards • Netflix
NASCAR: Full Speed Is Coming to Your Screen at 200 Miles per Hour
I blew through the five episode season in a couple days. Why’d they only order up five episodes in the first season? I mean, F1: Drive to Survive has had 10 episode since season 1.
They focused on the playoffs but they could’ve done more leading into the playoffs. It’s a long season full of drama and I wanted more.
Overall it was really good and I hope we get a full 10 episodes in season 2.
Pkl
Define all your data in Pkl, and generate output for JSON, YAML, Property Lists, and other configuration formats.
Pkl is an Apple project. They’re trying to become a services company and having a better means of managing things sounds like a good idea.
It’s odd to see Apple using Java and Kotlin for this but it does make sense given it’s meant to be portable to different platforms. And by different platforms I mean actual different platforms like Linux, Windows, and Mac. Not Mac, iPhone, and iPad. 😄
Jason Parham • WIRED
Black Twitter Remains Unbothered in Elon Musk’s X
I’ve seen folks on Mastodon talking about how difficult it is for Black Mastodon to get started.
When I setup Curmudgeon Cafe there was a large contingent — and still is — of LGBTQ+ instances.
If memory serves it was more a matter of discoverability.
I’d love to see multiple BIPOC instances spring. We need more diversity, not less.
Miguel de Icaza • blog.la-terminal.net
My current effort is slightly different: how to build a native iPadOS (and hopefully VisionOS) experience for Godot. So rather than rewriting the existing Editor codebase with Swift, this effort is about making a SwiftUI on top of the existing Editor.
I don’t keep up with Godot but I do keep up with Miguel. It’ll be fun to watch his effort evolve into a finished product.
Robert Downen • Texas Tribune
Texas' standoff with the feds in Eagle Pass is igniting calls for secession and fears of violence
The MAGA crazed are ready for war and his orangeness is egging them on. Not only that he’s actively working with leaders in the House and Senate to blow up a bipartisan bill that would be the best deal the GOP has seen on the border. All to get that orange dumbass re-elected.
Tumblr media
David Nield • Lifehacker
It’s 2024, and I’m here to extol the virtues of using an RSS reader.
Of course everyone should use an RSS reader! Might I recommend Stream for iOS? 😘
Yes, yes, it’s my app, but you should give it a try and if you like it, please, leave me a tip. 🙏🏼
Tim Hardwick • MacRumors
NHS App users in England can now collect medication from a pharmacy without having to visit a GP or health center, according to NHS Digital.
Man oh man would I love to have a national healthcare system that’s fully integrated and lets me manage how I interact with doctors and other healthcare providers.
I’d like it to work like Facebook. Doctors should invite me to join, or I invite them to join, my medical record.
American Healthcare is still stuck in the past. I’d love to see it fixed.
Tumblr media
Nick Barclay • The Verge
Spotify accuses Apple of ‘extortion’ with new App Store tax
Spotify and others didn’t get what they really wanted. They don’t want to pay a single cent to Apple. Which from a business perspective makes perfect sense.
Guess we’ll see what the law says.
Aki Ito • Business Insider
In the two years I’ve been writing about Americans' changing relationship to work, there’s one theme that’s come up over and over again: loyalty. Whether my stories are about quiet quitting, or job-hopping, or leveraging a job offer from a competitor to force your boss to give you a raise, readers seem to divide into two groups.
There are so many factors to loyalty. The true believers exist and they have little to fear. Then there are the masses who quietly do their jobs and aren’t really seen.
We had a layoff at work last May and it destroyed morale, destroyed the company culture, and left loyalty at an all time low.
I hate to be so cynical but companies aren’t there for you. They’re there to make profit. Loyalty from the company only extends so far to the employee.
I still love my job and work hard at it everyday but I fear being laid off.
Jakub Porzycki • The Verge
Microsoft says Apple’s new App Store rules are ‘a step in the wrong direction’
Of course they think it’s going in the wrong direction! They’re a huge corporation in the business of selling software. They don’t want to hand any of it over to Apple.
Epic’s Tim Sweeney referred to it as “Malicious Compliance.”
Get out the popcorn! 🍿
Vadim Kravcenko
New libraries. New languages. New Frameworks. New Intern coming in and thinking he can rewrite better parts of the code himself. It’s easy to get swept away. But is the newest framework always the best choice? Is a rewrite really going to make everything better? Or is there wisdom in the code that has been around for years, has been tested with crazy edge cases, and has evolved together with the business?
I understand why folks are tempted to rewrite thing, I really do. When I wasn’t a dinosaur of a developer I hand that tendency. “I can make this better”, my brain would say. Sure, there’s occasion to “turn the soil” once in a while and I believe that’s good for a code base. But a full rewrite? No. 🌹
Nikita Prokopov
As you can see, even the checkmark wasn’t always there. But one thing remained constant: checkboxes were square.
A square checkbox is something us old timers are accustomed to seeing and changes can be confusing.
The Vision Pro’s checkboxes are confusing but I kind of like UIKit’s toggles as long as you don’t go crazy styling them. 😃
Nilay Patel • The Verge
It sounds amazing, and sometimes it is. But the Vision Pro also represents a series of really big tradeoffs — tradeoffs that are impossible to ignore. Some of those tradeoffs are very tangible: getting all this tech in a headset means there’s a lot of weight on your face, so Apple chose to use an external battery pack connected by a cable. But there are other, more philosophical tradeoffs as well.
I think Nilay did a great job balancing his review of Vision Pro.
It’s a great start but has a really long way to go as a general computing device. That’s my opinion having never used one.
I really believe we’ll get a sense for how we should be using it if we see pictures of Apple Executives wearing it daily to do their jobs. I kind of doubt we’ll see that for anything other than articles written about it.
The iPhone, Watch, and AirPods are devices those same executives probably use everyday. I just can’t see them using Vision Pro as much.
When/if they’re ever able to make them look like regular glasses and they cost around $500-800 I’d consider wearing them all the time. Until then they’re way too expensive for my blood. I would rather spend that kind of green on a new MacBook Pro.
Will Stream support Vision Pro? I think so. I have no idea when, but I think it will.
