I take this post back, not necessarily from Will Graham but from the show writers and prop masters because I wrote this post before I'd had a brain MRI and I have since had one and when you get a brain MRI they put this giant mask on you that covers the lower half of your face kinda criss-cross and then comes up around the top of your head like a cage to make sure you don't move your head or neck around while they're doing the scans.

And you're telling me they didn't wanna do something with that???? In a Hannibal Lecter show??? A guy famed for wearing a weird mask in a hospital setting???? Because obviously the one Anthony Hopkins wears was made especially for the movie; it's not necessarily accurate to what you would have found in an old insane asylum. So I don't see why they couldn't change up whatever headpiece Will wears in the MRI to foreshadow the bite mask he'd end up wearing in season 2. I think they could have done really fun foreshadowing and/or callbacks with something like that.

Instead they just let his head roll around all willy nilly in the MRI machine??? Like I understand it was cool for him to turn his head to the side and have that hallucination but did he have to turn his head to do that???

I know I'm complaining about medical inaccuracies in the cannibal serial killer inaccurate pop psychiatry show but still it gets on my nerves that they missed this opportunity :(

Tbh Will Graham is a real one for getting an MRI with encephalitis migraines I forgot how fucking loud and shakey those machines are. I didn't even have a headache and I was still completely overstimulated.

I don’t care what anyone says or thinks, but listening to MRI machine noises is so weirdly calming for me and puts my brain into this nice calm state of focus. It’s probably bc I used to scan in MRI and would listen to these things run for hours and hours a day, but if I put the volume just low enough to sound like it did at work, it scratches my brain so absolutely perfectly. Nothing matches it.
