There was that snort of him trying to hide his laughter again. He cleared his throat and turned to look at a nearby stand.

“Fortunately, my grandmother’s days of espionage are behind her,” he said. Was he joking or serious? Hard to tell. “At any rate, there’s a stand that sells fresh bread and pastries that I usually get breakfast from, so I’ll be heading over there.”

"Well, as I said, while I can't get in her head, I can guarantee that she does want to help you with your mission. If trying to pair us up was a bigger part of that, we'd be seeing more of her."

The city was much quieter than it was when they went to the tea shop the previous night, and it was a bit cooler since the sun was just coming up. Tempera took in a deep breath of the crisp air as they approached the market.

"Here we are. There's more than just produce here. Many sell arts and crafts, or plants, or any number of things."

Of course it was just a suggestion, if Macaque had really not felt inclined to do it then Zhen would've taken the lead. But it seems as if the other was willing to give it a go for the sake of keeping momentum going, sliding his body fully onto the bed.

It was tempting to ask what Macaque envisioned as sexy or appealing but kept the question to himself. Instead a soft sigh left him as his own hand worked to help with getting the buttons of his shirt undone. The less time that was focused on things that weren't priority the better for the both of them.

"I was thinking you could call the shots actually, for the night I am yours."

Keeping his response short and sweet before bringing an arm down to lift macaques legs, now having the other in his arms before he began walking to his bedroom.

He could take the lead, to call the shots but Zhen wanted to give that chance to macaque. To let him take what he wanted for this one night while he stepped outside of his normal routine. A result of the alcohol being a likely result of this but he didn't care. He was willing to do this and deal with the consequences later, keeping macaque close as he pushed the door to his bedroom open with his foot.

thinking about wallace wells. thinking about going through hook ups like tissue paper, never believing anybody will stick around besides scott, who's here only because he has nowhere else to go, and you let him stay anyway even though he doesnt pay the rent. one of the only consistent people in your life, someone you might've actually genuinely liked straight up dying and leaving you with a sudden void of an empty apartment and a cold spot in a futon. thinking about immediately getting wasted and bringing a guy home, someone whose name you won't remember but it's okay because youre only in it for the sex— you dont believe in sparks, after all. believing that scott's conception of his one true girl was a joke because you just don't think you'll ever love anyone like that. kissing someone on a movie set because it's something to do, because he's dressed in the costume of somebody you cared for, because it's all manufactured, false realities and layers of separation deep enough for you to brush off his pleas for connection. thinking about going to paris after everything, the city of love, as tacky as that is, saying you're only there to spend money. but despite the insistence on irony you meet a guy— a fellow canadian, actually, twin foreigners in an unfamiliar place. someone who actually wants to stick around, who follows you through the city to see the sights and seems to genuinely like you. it can't be genuine, though— can't possibly be a reason to stay beyond a few hookups. so you stop at the river and you kiss him to get it over with...

but instead you see sparks.
