Chris Andrews SONG OF THE WEEK: “At the Zoo” by Playground—This is a jangly cover of Paul Simon’s “At the Zoo” (a song Simon & Garfunkel intended for THE GRADUATE film). The Playground were a short-lived band of the 1967 British psychedelic pop music pantheon, signed internationally to MGM Records. However, despite the major label muscle and release in 3 countries, The Playground lasted for but one single. Chris Andrews was transitioning out of the freakbeat band Fleur de Lys and was hired to play guitar and harmony vocals for Playground before they folded (then he went solo as “Tim Andrews”). The song, however, continues to play, with the B-side cover of “Yellow Balloon” (a signature 60s sunshine pop song).
