Trinity College Cambridge, the University of Cambridge's wealthiest constituent college, has decided to divest from all arms companies, Middle East Eye can reveal. This came after MEE revealed in February that Trinity had £61,735 ($78,089) invested in Israel's largest arms company, Elbit Systems, which produces 85 percent of the drones and land-based equipment used by the Israeli army. MEE also reported that the college had millions of dollars invested in other companies arming, supporting and profiting from Israel's war on Gaza. In response to this report, on 28 February the International Centre of Justice for Palestinians (ICJP), a UK-based rights group, issued a legal notice to Trinity College warning that its investments could make it potentially complicit in Israeli war crimes. The ICJP indicated in its legal notice that "officers, directors and shareholders at the college may be individually criminally liable if they maintain their investments in arms companies that are potentially complicit in Israeli war crimes and crimes against humanity". MEE has learnt from three well-informed sources close to Trinity's student union that the college council, responsible for major financial and other decisions, voted to remove Trinity's investments from arms companies in early March. According to these sources, the college decided not to announce that it would divest from arms companies after an activist defaced a 1914 portrait of Lord Arthur Balfour - who authored the infamous Balfour Declaration - inside the college on 8 March.

June was working at the Goldie restaurant in Philadelphia on Sunday night when protesters started assembling outside the Israeli-American-owned eatery waving Palestinian flags.
"Goldie, Goldie, you can't hide, we charge you with genocide," they chanted.
The 24-year-old June, who asked to be identified by his first name only, told Middle East Eye that they watched the rally through the window of the restaurant which sells falafel, hummus and other Middle Eastern cuisine. June was shift-leading at the time.
"I remember thinking it was a big crowd, given it had been raining," June said.
"No one inside was bothered. I didn't feel unsafe. There were orthodox Jews taking part in the protest. We even had a customer come into the business," June, who is also Jewish, added.
After a few minutes, the protesters left.
When June went home after the shift, they found social media alight with accusations that the crowd had targeted the restaurant because it was a Jewish establishment.
But June says they knew that this wasn't a case of antisemitism.
"The protesters had assembled outside Goldie because the restaurant owner had sent money to an aid organisation that supported the Israeli military. They had come because two employees at Goldie were fired for expressing support for Palestine," June told MEE.
Outraged by the feverish pace with which the false narrative of a marauding mob intimidating a business on account of their Jewishness was being amplified on the internet and the news media, June posted on social media in support of the protesters.
"If you don't want to be directly funding genocide, stay away from Goldie, Kfar, Federal Donuts, Laser Wolf or Zahav. Goldie's parent company CookNSolo held a fundraiser where sales from all their restaurants went to an org [sic] that gives supplies to the IDF [Israeli military]," June wrote.
On the way to work the next morning, June received a call from the restaurant. They were told that they were no longer needed and they was fired with immediate effect.
That made June the third person at Goldie to be fired on account of their pro-Palestinian advocacy since 7 October when Israel's war on Palestine began.
Since late Sunday, the US media, prominent Jewish Americans, Philadelphia's mayor, several lawmakers, and even the White House have issued statements condemning the protests outside the restaurant.
"This is idiotic and dangerous. Protest outside the Israeli consulate or the offices of your member of Congress, not Jewish or Israeli-owned restaurants," prominent Jewish-American writer Peter Beinart wrote.
Likewise, Andrew Bates, a White House spokesperson, described the incident as "antisemitic and completely unjustifiable to target restaurants that serve Israeli food over disagreements with Israeli policy".
On Tuesday, US Vice President Kamala Harris' husband, Doug Emhoff, called Michael Solomonov, the owner of the restaurant group, to express support for his business.
But former employees at Goldie as well as pro-Palestine advocates who either organised or participated in the protest say the outrage was manufactured to distract from both the crimes of the Israeli state and those who have chosen to support it.
"While Goldie was not the goal of our protest, we briefly paused and led chants [outside the restaurant] because the owner, Michael Solomonov, has used proceeds from the restaurant to fund an organisation that works directly with the Israeli Occupational forces," Natalie Abulhawa, a spokesperson from the Philly Palestine Coalition, said.
Abulhalwa said that the group spent only a few minutes outside the restaurant and moved on to other stops before continuing the rally.
"We also stopped at Starbucks for the same reason and then continued to march. Our march was roughly three hours long and we stopped at Goldie's for four minutes, at most," Abulhalwa added.
June, who was at the business at the time, confirmed to MEE that the protesters were only around for a few minutes.
Sophie Hamilton, who worked at Goldie for more than two years, including as a store manager, confirmed to MEE that Solomonov had held a fundraiser in mid-October, where $100,000 was raised for United Hatzalah, an Israeli emergency aid organisation based in Jerusalem.
She said Goldie, part of the CooknSolo company, was not some small-time "mom-and-pop" business, but a sprawling company whose owner was appointed by the Israeli tourism ministry as its culinary ambassador for Israel in 2017. Solomonov is an Israeli chef who owns four restaurants in the Philadelphia area under the CookNSolo banner.
According to a statement released by the Israeli authorities at the time, the role was designed "to champion Israel’s extraordinarily diverse and vibrant culinary landscape".
Hamilton said the company had mischaracterised United Hatzalah to staff as "non-partisan, non-military aligned, like the Red Cross", when a cursory internet search showed that not only did the charity openly collaborate with the Israeli military, they also spoke like an arm of the Israeli state.
"The influx of terrorists infiltrating Israeli territory and the resulting high number of injured individuals also prompted United Hatzalah to provide additional medical supplies and protective equipment to IDF teams on the ground," a statement issued in late October by United Hatzalah, reads.
"Since the beginning of the war, United Hatzalah medical teams have treated over 3,000 soldiers and civilians and provided more than 900 soldiers, civilians, and volunteers with psychological first aid. The organization also delivered over 30 tons of medical supplies and humanitarian aid to the IDF and residents of southern Israel," the statement added.
Hamilton said when she had discovered the information, she refused to take part in the fundraiser because she didn't want to be complicit in the genocide of Palestinians.
However, when she returned to work after the fundraiser, she said she still wanted to show solidarity with Palestinians and decided to wear a pin bearing the Palestinian flag on her shirt.
A few days later, the company came out with a new policy that banned any pin or patch unrelated to the store on their uniforms.
"I wore the pin anyway in defiance of the policy and I was sent home that day," Hamilton says.
When she returned to work, she decided she needed the job and abided by the policy. But when one of her colleagues, Noah Wood, refused to take off his pin, and she wouldn't discipline him as his manager, she was fired. And so was he.
"I would never, as a manager censor someone I work with for showing their heartfelt belief in human rights," Hamilton said.
Wood, who had already resigned from his job on account of the suppression of Palestinian advocacy at the restaurant, was serving his notice period at the time when he was told to stay home.
He told MEE that it appears a customer complaint may have led to his dismissal.
"We've had LGBTQ flags up in the store. They might still be up. And one of the other locations had Black Lives Matter signage, so it wasn't as if it was an entirely politically neutral work environment," Wood said.
"You must remember Sophie and I didn't say anything. We didn't argue with customers. We weren't posting online. We were just wearing Palestine patches and pins and this seemed to make a customer uncomfortable, and this was enough for termination," he added.
Goldie and its parent company, CookNSolo, did not immediately reply to MEE's request for comment.
Activists say they remain appalled by the smear campaigns pitted against Palestinians on a daily basis. The rush to defend a business working with the Israeli army under the mask of an antisemitic attack was in line with the higher echelons of the American state to equate criticism of Israel with antisemitism, they say.
With the devastation in Gaza spiralling and the death toll ever increasing - now upwards of 16,000 Palestinians - organisers say the rapid resort to smear those who dare to raise the plight of Palestinians was the surest sign that officials had run out of excuses to justify the support of Israel.
Activists say the flurry of support for the Israeli-owned business also showed the close ties between the US political establishment and Israel-aligned businesses.
"The hypocrisy of our elected officials is despicable. Within a couple hours of our protest, Pennsylvania's Governor Josh Shapiro and others ran to Twitter to accuse us of antisemitism with absolutely no context and no facts," Abulhalwa, with the Philly Palestine Coalition, said.
"No one from their offices reached out to us to 'investigate'," Abulhalwa added.
Organisers said US politicians were constantly attempting to portray pro-Palestinian protesters as unhinged or violent when it was the US state that was supporting genocide in Gaza and it was Palestinians in the US who have either been killed or physically attacked.
In its report about the call made by Emhoff, the US vice president's husband, to Solomonov, the owner of Goldie, NBC News reported that the duo spoke about "how food was actually supposed to bring people together rather than be a source of division"
Likewise, Pennsylvania's Governor Shapiro, who was among the first to condemn the protests outside Goldie, baked bread with its owner, Solomonov, as recently as September.
"Being an Israeli ambassador is a big part of Solomonov's brand," Leila, a Jewish-American who took part in the protest outside Goldie on Sunday, said.
Leila, who offered only her first name to MEE, said the suggestion that any part of the action outside the restaurant may have been construed as antisemitic was simply absurd.
June, the former employee at Goldie, who had watched the protest from inside the store itself, said the charge of antisemitism was divorced from reality.
"They didn't come to the restaurant simply because it was Jewish-owned. If that was the case, they would've gone to hundreds of restaurants across the city," June said.
Likewise, Abuhalwa said the smears against Palestinians were once more exposing a double standard toward Palestinian life.
"Palestinian protesters being held at gunpoint by a racist, Islamophobe is a hate crime. Palestinians being shot for wearing keffiyehs is a hate crime. A grown man stabbing a little boy for being Muslim is a hate crime. Using your First Amendment rights and peacefully protesting is not a hate crime.
"They accused us of targeting Goldie because it's Jewish-owned, which is far from the truth. Solomonov is not being targeted due to his religious beliefs, but rather his ties to a violent apartheid state that is currently enacting a genocide," Abuhalwa added.
Meanwhile, June, the 24-year-old who lost his job at Goldie for supporting the protesters, says he has no regrets.
"If I could educate more people on how this company feels about Palestinians being killed, I'd gladly do it in a heartbeat," June said.
"I will always advocate and support anyone who advocates for a ceasefire and an end to the occupation of Palestine," they added.

Subspace x reader smut for the poor please
Probably just the two getting themselves drunk and decide to get 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓴𝔂 in a random alleyway idk :sobs:
i dont feel too comfortable writing drunk sex #ilikemysexsober, so i'm toning it down to being 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝒶𝓀𝓎 as in a little touchy!! you better not mind!
✦ subspace x reader getting slightly 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝒶𝓀𝓎 💓
today, one of the projects that subspace and you have been laboring over got the green light to be manufactured.
"we've done well, my assistant! another advancement in the name of blackrock, hahahah!!" subspace's pride is evident as he boasts, his enthusiasm echoing throughout the laboratory. on a chair nearby, you sit contently and nod. "it was so worth all the sleepless nights and explosions... we totally deserve a reward!" bones in your back and joints make satisfying cracks as you stretch in the chair. subspace stops his raving, turning to look at you from over his shoulder. "a reward? what, like a raise? don't be silly! it's not some achievement to throw a party for, it's our duty and obligation as blackrock's geniuses!!" he stomps over to you, furrowing his eyebrows in offense. "have you forgotten where you're working?!" but you only roll your eyes, accustomed to his capricious behavior. "just because it's in the job description doesn't mean we can't pat ourselves on the back for it, tripmine! how does 8 pm at that new bar sound? it's on me~" the scientist crosses his arms defiantly, "absolutely not!! there are more projects that our superiors are waiting on us for, we have no time to fool around—!" you narrow your eyes, time to bring out the big guns if you want to convince subspace to go drinking with you. huffing, you feign disappointment, "booo, you're no fun.. i suppose i'll go by my lonesome, without my suupperrr coool, and handsome, and intelligent superiorr to watch over mee... (subspace perks up when you say this) and let some random nobody pick me up and take me home... sighh.." out of the corner of your eye, you can see subspace's eye twitch. it's working. "..stop whining! if you really want company that bad, i'll send a biograft with you!!" "as amaaaaziiiing as they are, biografts can't drink or keep good conversation!" this is it. you turn to subspace and lean in close, sustaining eye contact with him. "...pleaase, subspace? it has to be you.."
his crystal casts a bright pink light on even you from how bright it's glowing. it's confirmed beyond a shadow of a doubt: you've nailed in his coffin.
"wh.. fine!!! i'll go!! ..only this once!!!" with a flushed face, he jerks his head to the right where you can only see his eyepatch. you lean back, smiling with satisfaction at the sight of the subspace tripmine giving into from being slightly buttered up. "it's a date, then! see ya!" you get up from the chair and cheerfully skip out of the laboratory, leaving subspace to grumble at your audacity by himself.
come 8pm, you're barely pulling up to the agreed location to find him already there. a leg is propped on the wall, while he stares at one of his crystals idly floating in his palm. innocently, you ask, "did i keep you waiting?" he only grunts in response, "why yes, you did!! i'll have you know my time is incredibly precious and not to be waste—ack!" not wanting to listen to his spiel, you wordlessly drag him into the bar.
upon entering, you're immediately hit with the buzz of constant chatter and of course, the smell of alcohol. it's a tad crowded considering it's a friday evening. every other inphernal is likely celebrating something too, you think. maybe it's something big, like getting a promotion. or maybe it's something small, like simply getting through another week. whatever it is, they're here to get lit for it.
you weave through the demons and lead subspace to a pair of stools in front of the bartender's counter. as you settle onto the velvet of the cushion, the bartender approaches with a glass in hand. "what can i get for you?" "a daiquiri, please." they nod, then pivot to subspace. "and for you, sir?" he scrunches his face at the menu for a second, carefully scrutinizing his options. you promptly pipe up, "just get him a sea breeze and put it on my tab, thank you!"
within a few moments of taking your orders, the bartender returns with your cocktails. "cheers." you hold your daiquiri to subspace. when he doesn't raise his glass to yours, you raise an expectant eyebrow. after a pause, he stiffly taps your drink. even the clinking of the glass sounds unsure. all you do is shake your head and exhale with exasperation.
"you're so tense, loosen up! do blackrockians really not celebrate things ever?" the sweet taste of the daiquiri is pleasantly tart paired with the rum as you sip it. "tch, blackrock has high standards for their demons!! we can't afford to lose our edge when the inpherno looks to us for our high-quality technology! if there is even a tiny mistake..." subspace stares at the ice cubes in his sea breeze, aimlessly swirling them about. he looks almost skeptical about it. "and besides, i can't even taste the alcohol! so there's no point!!" you're almost done with your drink. "you can still feel the effects, can't you? i'd kill to be able to get drunk without having to taste the liquor..." sighing, you down the rest of the cocktail. "in any case, we aren't blackrock's top geniuses right now. we're idiots at some bar! you'd look weeeird if you didn't drink.." when the bartender comes around, you order another daiquiri, requesting it stronger.
subspace's reflection in the red drink glares back at him. just as you open your mouth to chastise him some more, he mutters under his breath and takes a long swig of his drink. by the time he sets the sea breeze back down, there's a blush painted over his cheeks that's so prominent you could see it peeking over his gas mask. "..there!! happy??" the scowl he directs towards you isn't very effective when paired with his flushed face. you grin triumphantly, "very."
after a couple rounds of drinks, the both of you are hammered as hell. boisterous, cackling, and burning up. your head is buzzing, and the lights of the bar seem especially bright now. "and—hic—ya wanna know what they did??? they—" in the midst of your story-telling, the wild gestures you make with your hands knock over subspace's drink and spill it over his clothes. "oh shit-! sooorry 'bout thatt... here, lemme uh.." scrambling, you quickly nab some napkins and wipe down the alcohol on subspace. a lot of it spilled on his thighs and lap, and you don't notice how his breath hitches as you casually rub him. that is, until his arm shoots out and harshly grips your wrist and he starts to drag you outside. you're still clueless as he rounds the corner and forces you onto the wall of a dark alleyway.
when he releases your wrist, your other hand shoots to clutch it and soothe the ache. "oww- it.. hic.. it wass only a drink! ye don need t' be s- ah!" you're cut off mid-sentence by the feeling of one of subspace's hands feeling up your shirt, and the other down your pants stroking your thighs. they're cold as they trail up and down on your warm skin, and you shiver from the sensation. damn, if you knew spilling subspace's drink on him would lead to this, you would've done it way sooner. "ohh.." a high whine escapes from you.
"ya knew what y'were doin.. naughty- naughty lil assistant~!!" his claw-like fingers cup your ass, giving it a firm squeeze. "this—hic—'s what ya wanted, isn't it-?!!" well you didn't exactly expect your boss to fondle you when you took him out to drink, but it's not unwelcome! as his hand explores your soft inner thigh, you squeeze them together and sandwich it. his hand on your upper region gropes your chest. "yes- please, keep touching me...", the plead comes out as a soft whisper. your head is swimming, dizzy with arousal.
then, subspace leans into the crook of your neck and sinks his top teeth into your skin, sharp enough to draw blood. you twitch and shudder beneath him, biting your lips as your eyes fight tears. after, he laps at it with his tongue. the texture is rough on your flesh due to the rot, similar to a cat's. meanwhile, his hand working underneath your pants discovers how wet you are when it grazes your soaked underwear.
"my, how dirty-!! is my slutty assistant neeeeedy fer mee??" too horny out of your mind, you feverishly nod as you pant out white puffs of steam from your hot breath. "aww, that's tooooo bad~!!" suddenly, he withdraws his hands from underneath your clothes, leaving you to groan at the loss of contact. though he's no longer touching you, your desperate body clings on to the memory of his hands on you. when you go to protest, he brings a finger to your lips to shush you. "con—hic—consider this asss yeer punishment!! now y'll think again 'fore ya try n' tempt the great subspace, hahaha~!!!" frustrated, you roll your eyes as he maniacally cackles at his 'victory' over you. "whaaateeverrr... am callin' a cab back home!" stupid boss, blue-balling you after getting you all excited!
the next morning, you meet up with subspace in his laboratory (after downing a few gallons of water and snacking on some crackers to attempt to cure the hangover). though he tries to pretends like nothing happened last night, he freezes up when you randomly muse,
"drunk actions are sober thoughts, subspace t. mine."
(parade postscript: sorry the suggestive part is so short, i needed to cut it off before it got too steamy teehee man it's so awkward when im switching to subspace's wiki to look at his dialogue and make sure i'm writing him in-character and i'm forced to look at how he actually looks like hes so dumb looking i love him)

 Understanding Multiple Effect Evaporator Systems
Tumblr media
A Multiple Effect Evaporator (MEE) System is a highly efficient solution designed to maximize steam economy by utilizing steam repeatedly across various stages, known as effects. This system is particularly beneficial for industries requiring large-scale evaporation, such as chemical processing, pharmaceuticals, and food and beverage industries.
How the Multiple Effect Evaporator System Works
In a Multiple Effect Evaporator System, steam or hot oil is introduced into the shell side of the heat exchanger of the first effect (stage). The vapor produced in this first stage is then used as the heating medium for the second effect. This process continues, with the vapor from each stage being used to heat the subsequent stage. This sequential use of vapor helps achieve significant steam economy.
The concentrated solute, after passing through each effect, moves to the succeeding stages. The number of effects in the system is optimized to balance steam economy and capital cost. By theory, to evaporate 1 kg of water, approximately 1 to 1.2 kg of steam is required. However, in a Multiple Effect Evaporator System, 1 kg of steam can evaporate more than 1 kg of water, depending on the number of effects. For instance, in a three-effect evaporator, 1 kg of steam can evaporate approximately 3 kg of water, showcasing the system's efficiency.
 The Role of Vapor Recompression
An additional method to enhance efficiency is through vapor recompression. The vapor recompressed from a succeeding effect can be used to heat the same effect. This technique further reduces the overall steam requirement, making the process even more economical.
Benefits of Multiple Effect Evaporator Systems
- Steam Economy: The primary advantage is the significant reduction in steam consumption, which leads to lower operational costs.
- Cost-Effective: By optimizing the number of effects, both steam economy and capital costs are balanced, providing a cost-effective solution for large-scale evaporation needs.
- Environmental Impact: Reduced steam consumption translates to lower energy usage and reduced carbon footprint, contributing to more sustainable operations.

How GI Flanges Manufacture Contributes to Industrial Efficiency
In today's fast-paced industrial world, efficiency is everything. Companies across sectors constantly seek ways to optimize their processes, cut costs, and ensure the longevity of their infrastructure. One often overlooked yet vital component in this equation is the humble GI flange. Galvanized Iron (GI) flanges are critical in connecting pipes and ensuring the smooth operation of industrial systems.
What many don't realize is that the way these flanges are manufactured plays a massive role in determining how well they perform and how long they last. High-quality GI flange manufacturing contributes directly to improving industrial efficiency by reducing downtime, ensuring a tight fit, and offering superior durability. At Udhhyog, our focus on producing top-tier GI flanges helps industries stay ahead of the curve with optimized, long-lasting solutions.
The Role of Precision in GI Flange Manufacturing
When it comes to manufacturing GI flanges, precision is not just a nice-to-have—it's an absolute necessity. The smallest error in production can lead to serious issues down the line, such as leaks or pipe misalignments, which can cause unplanned shutdowns and financial losses.
Udhhyog’s manufacturing process is designed to minimize these risks. Our flanges undergo multiple rounds of quality control and are produced using the latest technology, ensuring that every piece that leaves our factory floor meets the strictest industry standards.
Accurate dimensions are crucial, especially when dealing with high-pressure systems, where even a millimeter off could spell disaster. This precision not only helps to ensure that systems run smoothly but also allows for easy installation, saving valuable time and labor costs.
Durability and Material Quality in GI Flanges
Industrial operations depend heavily on the materials used in manufacturing their components. For GI flanges, material quality is the cornerstone of durability. The superior corrosion resistance of galvanized iron makes it ideal for harsh industrial environments, where exposure to moisture, chemicals, or extreme temperatures is common.
At Udhhyog, we only use high-grade galvanized iron to produce our flanges, which ensures a long service life. The galvanization process adds an extra layer of protection against rust, ensuring that the flanges can withstand the most demanding conditions.
Durability also reduces the frequency of replacements, making it a more cost-effective choice in the long term. Industrial facilities using Udhhyog’s high-quality GI flanges can minimize downtime, reduce the need for constant maintenance, and improve overall operational efficiency.
Case Studies: Real-World Applications of GI Flanges
Let’s look at some real-world examples where Udhhyog’s GI flanges have contributed to improved industrial efficiency.
