Sleek crow-themed outfit in matching neutral tones. I love the dice and mahjong tiles accessories OP chose/made (it gives such a 60's snack-bar mama-san vibe - tinted with a yakuza-esque edge)

Critical PSA to Balatro or Mahjong or general Roguelike Deckbuilder Lovers for the amazing looking upcoming game ULTIMAHJONG!
ULTIMAHJONG is in the exact spirit of the likes of Balatro, Bingle Bingle & other casino/gambling-based roguelikes/deckbuilders that have been inundating the indie gaming scene recently and which I’ve personally been happily drowning in! In this case the base game is Mahjong & it’s straight up Riichi Mahjong based thankfully rather than the deluge of puzzle solitaire tile matching games that overwhelm Steam
Currently has playable demo on top of being Wishlistable. The dev predicts a release this year & I’m absolutely purchasing it on day one if for nothing else than to reward a halfway legitimate Mahjong game!
Speaking of the dev, they themselves ran through a few rounds of the early game to show it off:

Don’t know how many this post will reach but I’m happy to do my part to raise the population of Mahjong Enthusiasts out here on top of supporting innovative indie devs & their projects!
EDIT:
My luck finding out about these types of personally niche games seems to remain at an all time high because I’m obliged to update this post with a 2nd Roguelike Mahjong Deckbuilder on the horizon: AOTENJO
Similar to ULTIMAHJONG in intent but with its own distinct style & also has a free demo on Steam to try out.
One of AOTENJO’s major features is the inclusion of multiple regional mahjong variants to enrich the variety of the play experience!
Unlike in the case of ULTIMAHJONG, AOTENJO’s developer XO Cat’s YT channel (under the moniker NonToxicEel), lacks a similar in-depth breakdown of the game’s demo but does have a few videos attempting speedruns of the demo and are still a recommended watch to get the game flow & feel they’re aiming for:

Once again, I’m happy for the Mahjong renaissance we seem to be getting in the realm of gaming post-Mahjong Soul & Balatro!

am i crazy for analyzing how they claim they get the wins they do in mahjong
like i went on a whole ramble about how i Now Know why they have those titles
like. this is my understanding + what i've gotten from the wiki + how they reflect their personalities (by @lordofthesillystraws :3)
NEVER SEES THE LAST HAND OSOMATSU - osomatsu's wreckless, declaring his win and getting fucked over by ron (the tiles he discards get taken advantage of for someone else to get the win) [He puts all his eggs in one basket and hopes to ride it out. He's kinda bull headed. He prefers it quick and easy.]
THE NEVER-WINNING FANTASISTA KARAMATSU - karamatsu aims too high, only aiming to win by yakuman. yakumans take a while to build, so other players can declare regular wins (riichi/tsumo/ron) but he still takes pride in losing [He holds himself to really high standards, but also lets others walk all over him.]
NO RETURN OPEN RIICHI CHOROMATSU - choromatsu's bad at bluffing (that's literally all he's described as), and sticks to his really bad bluff. players can tell what tiles he's waiting for [You think he'd be better at lying since he does it all the time of wanting to improve himself. He basically just has a big ego.]
TABLE-FLIPPING ICHIMATSU - ichimatsu sucks and gives up once he's had enough (im not considering the dark aura thing since it doesnt rlly have anything to do with his title) [Ichimatsu would rather not show any weakness than admitting because it doesn't go with his persona. He also sucks.]
THE TYRANT OF FURITEN JYUSHIMATSU - jyushimatsu claims he wins while he is in furiten (short hand). he never has enough tiles to win, but gets excited and calls the win anyway [Wild, unpredictable, but also kinda dumb]
THE PRINCE OF MINIMAL LOSS TODOMATSU - todomatsu calls his tiles too much (i think to stack points) and calculates his moves, but discards tiles that help players. he starts breaking down once he sees he's losing because of the tiles he calls/discards. [He's cutthroat and ruthless, but once he's at a disadvantage, he loses it completely. He disregards the rules ("I pass..."/"There's no passing in mahjong!") if it means that he can lose less painfully. Once you get him in this state, he just shuts down completely. It's not fun to him anymore because he's not winning.]
#totty’s thoughts#osomatsu san#mahjong#analysis#??#like ik they have the titles and they explain why#but since i know how mahjong works now i can fully understand why they do#i may be wrong abt some of these things but whatever

"oh yeah i love playing mahjong its really relaxing to me"
the look on my face as i end a game with -50000 points and a 12 game last place losing streak, seriously considering bricking my computer or biting chunks of my wooden desk:
