Random question: Can Lyra play the lyre? (the instrument)
Yes, she can, and the harp! She is actually proficient in most stringed instruments. The Lyre is her favorite, though. She used to have a lyre that was worn but well-used. It was beautifully carved with flowers, trees, and birds. She would play it for her husband and her children.
... It is broken... It was shattered the day that music failed to soothe the savage beast.
Since then...
(The following will be a future part in the continuation of the main FuzzyNight story that I am very slowly picking at. It follows after the Hurt/Comfort (the second one when Lyra is hurt) but not directly after.)
…
Walking into the music room, she looked over the vast collection of instruments. They hung on the walls and sat in their cases, music unheard. Relegated to decorations and denied of their true purpose. She sighed and walked over to a harp, running her pale-furred right paw over it. Looking at the beautiful wood grain, she felt an ache to play.
That… or it was her healing wound.
It was when she saw the lyre hanging nearby, did the ache in her soul grew. Oh, how she longed to hold the instrument and fill these castle halls with its music. And yet… just seeing it brought her such sorrow. No… no, she could not hold one again. Not when she failed-
“Lyra?”
She turned her head to see Nightmare standing in the doorway. His tendrils were flicking in annoyance as he folded his arms. That changed, though, as she looked at him. Of course he would look concerned with her looking at him with tears in her eyes. “Sorry, was… feeling sentimental?”
“Ah-hah, I have finally learned something new about the enigmatic guardian of Balance,” He mused as he walked into the room. There was a playfulness to the curl of his tentacles. “You become sentimental around instruments. You may have one or more if you wish. They get no use here.”
“Thank you for your offer, but I shall pass,” She replied as she smiled at her shorter love. Looking back at the Lyre, it was far more plain compared to the one she had. But the outer appearance did not matter compared to the sound it may make. “It is a shame, though… that they are so silent. They are made for so much more than to be looked at,” She sighed wistfully.
…

Started reading The Bad Wingmen by @topazshadowwolf and @paddie-ut and it utterly possessed me for a few days so I needed to draw some of my favourite bits
#UTDR#UTMV#Dadmare#Dust Sans#Killer Sans#Nightmare Sans#Balance Toriel#You ever read a fanfic so good you have to draw 4 pages worth of moments from it?#I think I probably could have done more but I needed to have some self control so this post wouldn't be enormous lol#I didn't expect to get so invested in this one but the Dust and Killer interactions really fascinate me#They're so chaotic and they get at each other's throats even though they're not that different but they have each other's backs deep down#I'm just. They're brothers your honour and I love to see it#Almost all of these are from one chapter but the whole thing is so good#Fuzzynight is growing on me I'm excited to see more of these two#And don't get me started on Nightmare's unruly kids trying to set him up because they want him to be happy#It's eternally sweet but also hilarious#The real question is are they still grounded now that Nightmare and Lyra have agreed to date?#The answer is almost certainly yes but I feel like they'll still argue they should get a reduced punishment for being right (and helping)#Also I tried to do the dappled sunlight effect you described with the last picture because it was so vivid to me#And I love to see a rare moment of Dust and Killer at peace with each other#Oh my god there are four million tags I'm sorry tldr I love this fic I want to print it out and eat it okay goodbye!!#My Art

This is literally just a TAZ scene from the train episode modified for me characters lol. The translation is:
Sweeney: Listen, this might sound phony, but we don’t know who we can trust. Listen. Look at us. We’re three grown people trusting a baby with our secrets.
Alik: I’m not a baby! I’m fo- I’m a- I’m a um, Wha? How old? I’m nineteen- Did I say how old I was last time?
Lyra: Nineteen.
Alik: Nineteen it is then!

Have a piece about doubts forming about Ioun's intentions and somehow also Lyra accidentally revealing the idea of saving her. (and their feelings if you squint)
Current word count: 869 Content warnings: Cursing, stuttering Additional stuff: Lyra uses any pronouns, Emily uses she/her, Khunoth uses he/him, Ioun uses she/her
(Under the cut because this is long)
Emily and Khunoth were clearly beating around the bush, not wanting to discuss this in depth with Lyra there.
"I-I could...Like, go back and just ask Ioun if she can hear us. The. If her telepathy range is that far." Lyra says.
They first look at Emily's glass sun, staring at the contraption now covering it. The framing was still there, so it didn't seem like Ioun had finished working on it. He wasn't sure how to feel about that. Lyra thinks they're supposed to feel relief, given what Ioun altering the glass sun...might mean. But...
They look away, pointedly ignoring the pit of dread in their stomach.
Lyra turns their gaze to Emily and Khunoth, trying to read their expressions. Emily looks pissed, which...makes sense. Ioun went behind her back about this, and the 2 of them were on thin ice as is, and- Lyra looks away again. Khunoth looks concerned, (she thinks, it's hard to tell) and deep in thought.
Khunoth locks eyes with Lyra, and for a moment they feel like he's seeing right through them, even though there's not really anything she’s hiding. He then turns to Emily. "Sounds good. Let us know." Lyra swears they see something else in his eyes. Like Emily and Khunoth know something they don't. As much as that bothers him, it makes sense.
"Right," Lyra mutters, and then turns around and walks through the portal.
Was that everything Lyra wanted to ask Ioun about?? Probably not. But they need to get back to Khunoth and Emily soon so he can tell them the answer to the question he came in here for.
Hm. There was "saving" Ioun or whatever they were calling it but no, that was super unlikely to-
He glances back over at Ioun, ears perking up as they pick up a sudden pause in her sentence. He gives her a moment, expecting her to take something back or change her wording.
What they don't expect is her head, currently only a giant floating eye, splitting in two. And then splitting again, and again, and again, until a full face of eyes is looking at them. For a moment, they don't know where to look, gaze flicking between individual eyes.
What is happening??
Then, Ioun's face goes completely empty, eyes gone, and features form into it. Why the hell was she doing that, what caused it-
"You would... save me?"
Fuck.
Immediately, her face feels warm and their hands fly up to cover it.
Fuckfuck fuck fuck fuck leave it to Lyra to forget about mind reading 2 MINUTES after bringing it up-
"alsjfhs I-I mean..kinda?? I. I didn't reallythinkitwould work, but-" (She wanted it to work!! Like really badly!!!! There was just too much to resolve or figure out, especially in the time they all had left, it was so infuriating!! Even if Emily and Ioun could suddenly make amends-)
"...That's very noble of you Lyra. I didn't realize you cared."
With that Lyra thinks he'll just die right here, actually! All these fucking. Battles against literal gods and nope, killed by words. Killed by their feel- No- Focus on something else-
They're searching Ioun’s face and yep, that's genuine surprise, and not the "What the fuck is wrong with you" kind. God they really hope they're not imagining that look of amusement or happiness or whatever the fuck it is. Yeah she's. She's done for oh gods.
"I-I, well..." Lyra really wasn't sure what to say. What are you supposed to say to that!!
Their mind races, scrambling to create some kind of answer. As usual, they only get fragments of sentences or feelings to go off of.
They could confirm that he cared, maybe??? Is that anything??
This wasn't getting her anywhere.
He takes a moment to try and get his thoughts in order. It's then that they notice that they curled in on themself reflexively. Funny how that works.
She readjusts into sitting at least somewhat normally. Their face still feels hot but god, whatever. He's obvious. It's fine. They need their hands to talk with at this point, so there’s no trying to hide it.
Hokay, too much at once. Deep breath.
They try to look back at Ioun at first, but end up using their eyes to emote instead, looking anywhere but her face. For some reason they couldn't hold eye contact right now. "I didn't- There’s too many variables to...Take into account, to fix, but I. I figured??” Hoo boy here’s the hard part. Their gaze goes down to their lap, where her hands are fidgeting with the fabric of her shirt. “You- If I was gonna try, I should like. Ask." Make sure you wanted it in the first place, they think, too flustered to say that last part out loud. Or convert it from thoughts into words. They look up from their hands at her. They wanna keep looking at Ioun's face to try to read her expressions but to be honest it was a gamble if they could hold it. He was sure if anybody else knew about this they would find it hilarious that he was still struggling to talk to her after all this time.
#oh man this plant writes!#im specifically posting this now so i can get it up before my brain overrides it#i know a few of you have seen this one before multiple times even so ill post a smaller one in a sec#the some reason is sarcastic in their mind btw#lyra#maybe to balance out posting gay shit i should post the one that i wrote 2 days before the final session that's just lyra yelling at Ioun#i did a 180 there haha#c: dnd related#fun fact the stuff about curling in on themself was something *I* did just like on accident and im just. rolling with it and making#it something Lyra does yippee the world is a beautiful place#ok i. im going to bed now

Which people, out of the Thorncrafts and Maia, are most likely to lose balance on one leg?
I liked the answer to the last ask♪ヽ(´▽`)/
Lmao I almost hate to say it, but... Lyra. It would absolutely be Lyra. In no way am I saying she's incapable of being graceful! She is. It's just fleeting... like a rare bloom.
#Least likely to lose balance... would go to Audun#then Audric#Elias won't be caught dead on one leg#Maia would go down shortly after Lyra less due to clumsiness and more due to her anxiety.#solivaga#asks#soli asks

Hello there, you! I have not failed to notice you going through my fics. And apparently, you didn't just stick to my Dadmare stuff, either, @chiyannad XD The Great and Wonderful Doctor W.D. Gaster and The Door?! I haven't updated it in aaaaages. Still, happy to see you enjoying my new and old works, so thanks for that.
Now, about Lyra. I am hesitant to say "OC" as an original character to me is a wholly original and not tied to a fandom. Lyra is a fan character designed to be part of the UTMV of at least HNBD. Though anyone is welcome to use her for their own creations.
Those stories you see her in are set in the future. Balance, or Lyra, will appear in HNBD, but she will be more of a side character who will play a big role... I needed someone to be a Balance/Order keeper. And I wanted someone who wasn't a Sans. So, I picked a Toriel and decided to repurpose a Toriel from an abandoned AU idea that came up years ago in Soriel Discord for her origins. In time, I will tell her story, but fewer readers are interested in her than in Dadmare, thus focusing on Dadmare.
After years of writing Soriel, I should have known that my brain would insist she should kiss a Sans. Over time, I accepted that I would be shipping her with someone. Past me thought if she were to fall for a Sans, it would be Dream. My brain did not get that memo, as she somehow fell for Nightmare. And... yeah... it will make sense when she finally starts playing her role in HNBD. That said, I still hold to no ships being in that fic. The most you will see is a budding friendship.
Anyway, her history will be part of a FuzzyNight fic, as she would only reveal it to anyone if she were in a close enough relationship. So, you gotta wait. I did write a start to that fic and referenced her home life..., but I will eventually put all my little FuzzyNight fics on AO3 so they are better organized.
As for a reference:
That first one is by me. The next two were commissioned from @tamagoneko and the last one was commissioned from @skeleplatypus

Not gonna lie, I’m still having a good time playing the Golden Compass game from 2007 even after all these years. It’s challenging, it’s aesthetically beautiful, very good plotwise (because they included additional materials) and simply fun to play. You can actually see what the creators of the movie really wanted to do and what was taken away from them (and from us), they actually made it closer to the book and included scenes that were cut (AND KEPT THE ENDING, THEY KEPT THE ORIGINAL ENDING)!
#yes I love his dark materials in its every installation#I'm also still enraged about the fact that the golden compass was originally a very good movie adaptation#but a huge chunk of the scenes were cut due to some bloody zealots making protests about it#FUCK 'EM#anyway I remember playing this game as a kid when my mother and I visited our friends in Saint Petersburg#and I remember how hard it was to keep balance when Lyra walked on the roof or on the ship#now however I had more problems using the sloth swing because I couldn't figure out my keyboard configuration#but yeah it was entertaining! I had a lot of fun solving riddles and gaining alethiometer's symbol meanings!

Not a headcanon, just pointing it out: I feel like soulsilvershipping tends to be "I can fix him" while huntershipping is "I can make him worse."

Love and Magic Unite in Aeloria's Balance
As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm orange glow across the enchanted land of Aetheria, the powerful sorcerers, Eldric and Arabelle, stood side by side in their tower. The air was thick with magic as they prepared to cast a spell that could change the fate of their world. Eldric, an experienced sorcerer, had been mentoring his apprentice, Thane, for many years. Thane admired and respected his mentor, but he couldn't help but feel a deep connection with Arabelle, Eldric's apprentice and a skilled sorceress in her own right. As they stood together, their eyes locked, and the tension between them was palpable. "Thane, what do you see?" Arabelle whispered, breaking the silence. "I see... possibilities," Thane replied, his voice barely audible above the hum of magic in the air. Arabelle smiled, a look of pure mischief in her eyes. "And I see love," she teased. The two apprentices exchanged glances, their hearts racing with anticipation. Suddenly, the ground beneath them trembled as an insurmountable obstacle emerged from the shadows. A terrifying creature, a fusion of darkness and magic, threatened to destroy everything they had worked for. Eldric and Arabelle braced themselves, knowing that only their combined power could hope to defeat this menace. "Thane, now is not the time for distractions," Eldric warned, his voice steady despite the fear in his eyes. "We must focus on our task at hand." But Thane's love for Arabelle had only grown stronger. He knew that together they could face any challenge, and so he reached out to her, their hands meeting in a comforting grasp. "You are right, Eldric," Thane said, his voice filled with conviction. "Together, we can overcome this." As the battle commenced, Thane and Arabelle fought side by side, their magic weaving together like threads of silk. With each spell cast and each blow struck, they grew stronger, their love for one another a beacon of hope that lit up the darkness around them. In the end, they emerged victorious, their bond stronger than ever before. With the insurmountable obstacle defeated, the world of Aetheria was once again safe. Eldric and Arabelle, now fully-fledged sorcerers, continued to mentor Thane and their fellow apprentices, their love for each other a testament to the power of unity and passion. The sun had just begun to set, casting an orange and pink hue over the landscape as Aria and her apprentice, Liora, practiced their spells. The two powerful sorcerers were known far and wide for their abilities, but no one knew about the budding romance between them. They practiced together every evening, honing their skills and bonding over their shared passion for magic. Aria, a fiery redhead with piercing blue eyes, focused her energy into a burst of flame, while Liora, a tall woman with raven hair and icy blue eyes, created a swirling snowstorm in response. Their magic danced around them, a beautiful display of their combined talents. As they finished their practice session, Aria hesitated before speaking. "Liora," she began, her voice soft and uncertain. "I've been thinking... I can't imagine a more capable apprentice than you. And as for me..." She paused, taking a deep breath. "I find myself drawn to you in ways I never expected." Liora blushed, but she returned Aria's gaze with an intensity that mirrored her own feelings. "Aria," she whispered, "I've felt the same way for some time now. You are my mentor and my friend, but more than that, you are... everything to me." The two sorcerers leaned in and shared a tender kiss, their hearts swelling with newfound love. But they knew their happiness was far from guaranteed. An insurmountable obstacle loomed on the horizon, threatening to tear them apart. The Enchanted Spellbound, a powerful artifact that granted its wielder immense magical power, had been stolen by an enemy sorcerer. If not recovered, this could mean the end of all they held dear. In a climactic battle against the dark sorcerer and his minions, Aria and Liora fought side by side, their combined magic a force to be reckoned with. As the dust settled and victory was won, they embraced once more, their love stronger than ever before. Through adversity and personal growth, they had overcome the obstacle and found happiness in each other's arms. In the mystical land of Aetheria, two powerful sorcerers, Master Eldric and Master Gavriel, trained their apprentices with unyielding dedication. Among them were the talented but introverted Kael and the fierce and determined Elara. Despite their vastly different personalities, they found solace in each other's company, forging a strong bond over shared interests and dreams of becoming great sorcerers. As their powers grew, so did their feelings for one another, and they could no longer deny the undeniable attraction between them. However, a forbidden love between apprentices and masters was strictly prohibited in Aetheria, and Master Eldric and Master Gavriel were relentless in their efforts to keep Kael and Elara apart. The insurmountable obstacle that loomed over their relationship was the ancient prophecy that predicted the end of Aetheria at the hands of a powerful sorceress named Morgana. To prevent this catastrophe, Kael and Elara had to learn an enchanting spell from the forbidden tome, "The Enchanted Spellbound." The book was said to contain the secrets of the most potent spells in existence, but to access its knowledge, they had to face a trial that tested their courage, wisdom, and love for each other. As the trial commenced, Kael and Elara found themselves battling hordes of dark creatures, overcoming seemingly impossible challenges, and deciphering cryptic riddles. Through it all, their love only grew stronger, and they realized that their bond was their greatest strength. With newfound confidence, they cast the enchanting spell from the forbidden tome, which unleashed a powerful force that banished Morgana and her army of darkness from Aetheria forever. In the aftermath of their triumph, Master Eldric and Master Gavriel finally acknowledged the depth of Kael and Elara's love, as well as their own undeniable feelings for each other. The sorcerers and their apprentices embraced each other in a loving embrace, vowing to support one another through all trials and tribulations. And so, the four sorcerers continued to learn, grow, and thrive together, with their unbreakable bonds of friendship and love guiding them towards even greater heights in Aetheria's mystical realm. In the mystical land of Aeloria, two powerful sorcerers, Eldric and Eadric, were renowned for their mastery over arcane magic. They each had a talented apprentice - Lyra, a fiery redhead with a quick wit, and Kael, a calm and composed individual with a gentle demeanor. The four of them were inseparable, sharing adventures and secrets as they honed their magical skills. As time passed, a fierce rivalry between Eldric and Eadric began to brew, fueled by their differing beliefs on the use of magic. This tension soon affected their apprentices, with Lyra and Kael finding themselves drawn together in a quiet romance. Despite the growing rift between their mentors, they cherished their moments alone, sharing whispered confidences beneath the stars. One day, an ancient spellbook was discovered in the depths of Aeloria's greatest library. The tome contained an enchantment so powerful that it could grant the caster's deepest desires. However, there was a catch - only one who possessed both immense magical prowess and unwavering purity of heart could wield its power without being consumed by it. Eldric and Eadric, sensing the potential to settle their rivalry, began a frantic race to obtain the spellbook. Lyra and Kael, desperate to protect their love and the world they lived in, joined forces to thwart their mentors' schemes. Through cunning and teamwork, they managed to seize the enchanted tome before it could be used for destructive purposes. With the power of the spellbook in their hands, Lyra and Kael faced their greatest challenge yet - using the enchantment to bridge the divide between Eldric and Eadric. The two sorcerers, witnessing the unwavering love and courage displayed by their apprentices, realized that their rivalry had been futile and destructive. United once more, they used the spellbook's power to heal Aeloria and bring about an era of peace and prosperity. Through their trials, Lyra and Kael grew stronger, both as individuals and in their love for one another. Their journey taught them that true power lay not in rivalry or enchantments, but in unity, understanding, and the unyielding bonds of friendship. In the mystical land of Aeloria, two powerful sorcerers, Eldric and Eadric, had been rivals for decades due to their differing beliefs on the use of magic. Their apprentices, Lyra and Kael, were also bound by their master's rivalry, though they secretly admired each other. One day, during a fierce magical competition, Eldric and Eadric discovered an ancient spellbook hidden within the heart of Aeloria's enchanted forest. The spellbook contained an enchantment so powerful that it could grant the caster's deepest desires, but only if used with immense magical prowess and unwavering purity of heart. Eldric and Eadric became obsessed with obtaining the spellbook, believing it to be the key to ultimate power. Their apprentices, Lyra and Kael, knew that the spellbook could cause untold destruction if used incorrectly, so they decided to protect their love and the world they lived in by seizing the enchanted tome before it could fall into the wrong hands. Lyra and Kael found solace in each other's company as they guarded the spellbook, and their quiet romance blossomed amidst the chaos. The two young sorcerers vowed to use the spellbook's power for good, and together they began learning how to harness its immense energy responsibly. One fateful day, Eldric and Eadric finally discovered where the apprentices were hiding the spellbook. A fierce battle ensued between the two groups of sorcerers, with spells and enchantments flying through the air. As the conflict raged on, Lyra and Kael knew they had to find a way to end the fighting and protect their love. In a moment of inspiration, Kael cast a powerful spell that caused the entire forest to tremble, capturing the attention of both groups. As everyone stared in shock at the display before them, Lyra stepped forward and used the spellbook's power to bridge the divide between Eldric and Eadric. The two sorcerers, moved by the sight of their apprentices' love, finally put aside their differences and united their magical forces. Together, the powerful sorcerers healed Aeloria, bringing about an era of peace and prosperity. Through their trials, Lyra and Kael grew stronger in their love for one another and learned that true power lies in unity, understanding, and the unyielding bonds of friendship. In the mystical land of Aeloria, Eldric and Eadric rival sorcerers raced to obtain an ancient spellbook containing a powerful enchantment. Lyra and Kael, their apprentices, protected the spellbook and developed a secret romance. They seized the enchanted tome before it could be used for destruction.
