Question: Maybe itā€™s because of how old the song is, but, considering the Miraculous season 4 finale, why hasnā€™t anyone done an AMV to Alanis Morissetteā€™sĀ ā€œHead Over Feetā€ yet?

@lycorogueā€‹, thatā€™s a great point! Itā€™s very helpful for my growth as a teacher to get reviews about the specific things Iā€™m doing well or badly on (plus that will help other students down the line-- either because the teacher works to fix problems, or because the administration will be alert to the issue).
I'm sorry, professor, I consider publishing your course a day late, having a mandatory live zoom meeting during business hours to stay enrolled for an asynchronous class, and requiring students to use a $60 ***pdf*** that you wrote as their textbook to be exceptionally unprofessional and since I've still got 14 days to get a refund I'm totally not paying $150 to take your class.
Also, for all the newbie professors out there: a syllabus is not just a greeting and a list of assignments. If you haven't given your students AT LEAST your office hours, your late work policy, and your preferred method of being contacted, then you have not given your students a syllabus it's just sparkling announcements.
But really. Sir. SIR. You teach Speech 100. This is one of the most basic classes with like, 20 of the most widely available accepted textbooks and you want me to pay sixty dollars for a pdf of a book that you rewrite every semester so that there are no previous editions?
Buddy this is interpersonal communication, not introductory rhetoric. Why is one of your *four* total assignments about Socrates?
Maybe it's the fact that I've taken Spch 100 interpersonal communication three times already, maybe it's the fact that I grew up with somebody who taught Spch 100 interpersonal communication from 1981 to 2018, but buddy what the fuck are you doing?
"Some of our lectures will only be available for 24 hours so it is up to you to stay on top of it."
Friend, you are teaching an asynchronous online 100-level class at a community college during a pandemic. Get off your high horse, a third of your students are probably parents. There is no reason whatsoever to limit access to course materials to 24 hours unless you are doing it to be a controlling asshole.
Also YOU published your class a day and a half late! You don't get to publish your class late with an incomplete syllabus and tell students to "stay on top of it." Especially not since that means that people have two fewer days to buy your PDF textbook and only one full day to prepare for your mandatory 1pm on a Tuesday zoom meeting!
Why do you require me to have access to a printer for an online class? Oh yeah it's because you expect me to print out and draw on sections of your $60 ebook.
SIR. No thank you.
Kids, new students: this is a level of bullshit and disorganization from a professor that you do not have to put up with. This is a neatly ordered series of red flags that say "this professor is going to be absolutely unbearable."
Also *any* humanities class where your whole grade is 4 assignments should get serious side-eye. You should be able to pass most 100 level humanities classes by just turning in weekly assignments. 4 assignments means that by the time you figure out how the professor grades you're probably close to halfway through the class. Look for classes that require weekly participation as a major chunk of the grade because that way, even if you fuck up a project in a major way, just showing up can save your ass.

Thoughts about episode ā€œLieā€
Okay. Here we are. This is back to the better writing I was talking about the other day. I love me parallel stories, so this was just *chef kiss* in that department.Ā
Before I delve into my thoughts on the episode itself, I want to take a step back and talk about my views of the non-love-square ships Lukanette and Adrigami. (Feel free to skip ahead; I have a header for when I start talking about this episode again)
Lukanette and Adrigami
For me, Marinette and Luka had romantic chemistry from the word go. As much of a Marichat shipper as I am, I knew that if anyone could make Marinette forget about Adrien, it wouldnā€™t have been Chat Noir. It would be Luka. Chat Noir would then come in at a close 3rd (a bit ironically) when it comes to Marinetteā€™s heart. Meanwhile, Kagami slowly grew to have a crush on Adrien post-Riposte, and then charged forward knowing exactly who she wanted. On the flipside, though, I stand firm that there wasnā€™t really much romantic interest coming from Adrien. If anyone was going to make Adrien forget about Ladybug, it would be Marinette; not Kagami.
The episodeĀ ā€œFrozerā€ - the one where Kagami makes her crush known for the first time, and Adrien first attempts dating her - practically gives us some foreshadowing of their entire relationship. Aside from clearly finding Kagami attractive (as showcased by the pink-bubbles-vision when Adrien first sees her sans-helmet inĀ ā€œRiposteā€), he doesnā€™t seem to have any romantic inclination towards Kagami until after she cups his cheek and lets him know, in not so many words, that she likes him. Even so, it isnā€™t until Marinette basically gives the thumbs up that he should pursue this relationship does he give it a try. Heā€™s still very uncomfortable around her, and only gets a bit more comfortable inĀ ā€œAnimaestroā€; probably because heā€™s seen his father around Kagamiā€™s mom and just mimics that (as seen inĀ ā€œBackwarderā€). Going back toĀ ā€œFrozerā€ though, Adrien spends most of his time with Kagami watching Marinette, and even abandons Kagami in favor of checking in on Marinette - something Luka could have easily done and probably doesnā€™t because he sees Adrien already on it and knows Marinette would prefer Adrienā€™s comfort. So Luka doesnā€™t push the issue. That whole ice rink interaction shows that, while Luka trumps Chat Noir as a potential alternative love interest for Marinette, Marinette still surpasses Kagami as a potential alternative love interest for Adrien. This, for me, is again hinted at in the episode Heart Hunter where, while enjoying himself seemingly equally with both girls, thereā€™s just these little hints - complimenting Marinette more than Kagami, asking Marinette to choose the ice cream - that, at least subconsciously, Adrien is leaning a touch more towards Marinette over Kagami. His heart just isnā€™t all that into this relationship. This is again showcased in the New York special when Adrien (at least in the English dub; I havenā€™t watched it in other languages) asks Marinette to dance with him with an almost pleading tone in his voice. (To be fair, clearly Marinette isnā€™t thinking of Luka at all during that trip either...)
I think the final Foreshadowing nail in the Adrigami coffin is this dialogue fromĀ ā€œFrozerā€:
Kagami:Ā ā€œYou still keep doing what other people want you to do.ā€ Adrien:Ā ā€œNo, I just want him to be happy.ā€
In the end, Adrien did the same thing with Kagami: he did what he thought would make her happy because heā€™s a people pleaser to his core.
Adrien of course found Kagami attractive and fun to hang out with. She was a fantastic companion, and I love their companionship so much.Ā However, I feel like he dated her mostly because he knew he had to find some way of getting over Ladybug, and hereā€™s this pretty girl who clearly has a thing for him, so why not???? Their parents were practically setting them up as a couple anyway, between the trip to the royal wedding and the movie premiere. Plus, thisĀ ā€œapprovedā€ friend meant he could spend more time outside of his fatherā€™s house while genuinely enjoying the company. Win-win. He then did all the pseudo-dating stuff heā€™s clearly witnessed in media; kind of following a play-book as it were.Ā
However, he never did anything even remotely romantic or flirty towards Kagami that was on par with his romantic gestures and flirtations towards Ladybug (or even Marinette, for that matter). His love language is obvious after watching him with Ladybug, and he uses some of that same language (albeit subconsciously... probably...) while interacting with Marinette. Things like leaning in playfully (ending ofĀ ā€œTroublemakerā€ and when asking Marinette for a macaron inĀ ā€œDespair Bearā€), sharing a romantic picnic (ā€œGlaciatorā€) even if it was just to cheer Marinette up, winking (the endless winking in too many episodes to list here), whispering in her ear (ā€œDespair Bearā€ and one other that I canā€™t recall right now), Soft SmilesTM (ā€œChameleonā€, pretty much all of the NY special, tons of season 3 episodes), confessing insecurities or secrets (ā€œGamerā€ andĀ ā€œGorizillaā€), or asking her to dance (ā€œDespair Bearā€ andĀ ā€œNY Specialā€). Iā€™m sure thereā€™s tons more and each example has more episodes itā€™s showcased in, but you get the idea. Alternatively, Adrien just never used that same love language with Kagami. With her itĀ all felt like calculated moves; it was expected of him to lean in for the kiss in ā€œHeart Hunterā€ and ā€œMiracle Queenā€, or wipe away the smudge of ice cream by Kagamiā€™s mouth, so he did it. Aside from his protectiveness and care for Kagami inĀ ā€œOnichanā€, Adrien never really treated Kagami any different than his other friends.
Marinette, on the other hand, does show some of her love language towards Luka. She blushes around him and does that bashful little shoulder shrug. She makes excuses to touch his arms, hands, chest, or back. She literally leans on him. She has an interest in his interests and even goes above and beyond for gifts, such as the necklace (yay; Luka looks so good in a necklace!) and, unofficially, the contract with Bob Roth for Kitty Section.Ā
Granted, she doesnā€™t flirt with Luka like she does with Chat Noir, but, as someone who also used to flirt with my guy friends without truly realizing the romantic implications (I was a disaster as a teen, okay?), I donā€™t know if Marinette has truly realized how flirting is part of her love language. If she is anything like I was, flirting is more a fun past-time to see if you could get a rise out of someone in some sort of sextual-tension game of chicken or something. Itā€™s not something you do with someone you have serious feelings for. šŸ˜
Back to Kagami though. I want to stress that, while I didnā€™t see any romantic future for Adrigami, I do still very much like Kagami and appreciated the character development the writers gave her. I love her as one of Marinetteā€™s potential friends and, as I mentioned, a companion for Adrien. I just never saw any romantic interest coming from Adrien towards Kagami. He never even truly seemed himself around her the way he is around Ladybug or Marinette. I donā€™t think heā€™s comfortable enough to not be Textbook BoyfriendTM around Kagami. He even mentions in this episode that him being a clown IS the real him and she calls bullshit (although @gale-gentlepenguinā€‹ does have some nice commentary on how even that wasnā€™t exactly truthful and Kagami was right to call him out). Point being, Adrien loves to be nerdy and goofy and playful, and she just doesnā€™t get that????? A lot of what Adrien likes she seems to dismiss.
Iā€™m sorry, Adrigami shippers. There could have been potential there as these two grew, but as it stood? I just didnā€™t see it.
The EpisodeĀ ā€œLieā€
Going back to my thoughts on ā€œLieā€ though with all of that above commentary for context. I just feel a bit cheated that Clearly-Thereā€™s-Mutual-Pining Lukanette gets ONE kiss lean-in for the wholeĀ ā€œlove rivalā€ arc theyā€™ve had set up for 1.5 seasons before the relationship implodes, but Clearly-Only-One-Has-Feelings-And-The-Other-Is-Just-Kinda-Going-Along-With-It-Because-Hey-He-Likes-Hanging-Out-With-Her-And-Sheā€™s-Cute-So-Why-Not Adrigami has THREE kiss lean-ins in THIS ONE EPISODE ALONE (not to mention the 2 from Heart Hunter/Miracle Queen)!? Like I said, I feel a bit robbed, but... well fed, Adrigami shippers, I guess...
Anyway, my heart hurts so much because yes, Kagami deserves someone who will take the time to be with her (just like how Luka deserves the same), but also, itā€™s not like Adrien WANTED to abandon her (much like Marinette not wanting to abandon Luka). These poor kids. All four of them. My heart breaks. šŸ˜¢
I did feel a much stronger emotional gut-punch with this episode, which is surprising because a) we already saw a good 5-10 min of it inĀ ā€œTruthā€ so this episode was essentially shorter than the premiere, and b) Iā€™m a much stronger Lukanette shipper than an Adrigami shipper (see above). So, bravo to the writers on this episode. I hate that this team broke so many hearts, but this is the caliber of writing I was hoping for.Ā
(I know Marinette is the Guardian, but can we agree to have more Adrien-centric stories, please? Theyā€™re just so good).
My final thoughts though: WHY ON EARTH DID THE WRITERS EVEN BOTHER WITH THEĀ ā€œLOVE SQUARE RIVALSā€ STORY LINE IF THEY WERENā€™T GOING TO FOLLOW THROUGH!? ADRIGAMI AND LUKANETTE FINALLY GET TOGETHER AFTER 1.5 SEASONS ONLY FOR THE RELATIONSHIPS TO BE DOA BASICALLY THE NEXT EPISODE!? WHY!? TO RESET THE STATUS QUO THEY WORKED SO HARD TO SHAKE UP!? I already talked Friday about the lost story potential with Lukanette, but thereā€™s also a lot Adrien could have learned from his relationship with Kagami.Ā
Adrien is still VERY vocal about his love, and, while he has learned a lot, matured a lot, and has eased up a lot, Adrien does still semi-burden Ladybug with his feelings; something Luka never did to Marinette. Adrien, possibly due to witnessing his parents - I have theories about the romance dynamic between Emilie and Gabriel - seems to have this view of love being okay even if unbalanced. Ladybug is far more powerful and crucial to the protection of Paris, but they are still partners and equals in their eyes. So maybe he feels the same about love; he may be more romantically devoted to her, but as long as Ladybug loves him even a little, itā€™s like theyā€™re equals in romance... right???? So... yeah, a more balanced relationship with Kagami could have taught him how important a romantic balance is as well. Plus, if I am right in my assumption that he just kind of went along with the relationship because he thought it was expected, then he could have also learned something about being a people-pleaser. There was a lot of growth potential for both Marinette and Adrien in these non-love-square relationships, and it just feels squandered.
Also, as I mentioned with my review ofĀ ā€œTruthā€, Iā€™m fearing that the writers are kind of railroading the Ladynoir ship. First, thereā€™s Marinette realizing that she canā€™t have a boyfriend because he wouldnā€™t be safe, nor could she be truthful to him about why their time was so limited. The exception being Chat Noir, who can very much protect himself (except for when heā€™s shielding Ladybug, but she yelled at him for that inĀ ā€œLieā€), and she can be fully honest with him as long as it doesnā€™t involve their identities, and he very much knows and understands their time restrictions. In fact, he even goes so far as to state that ANY time with her is a gift he cherishes. Heā€™s basically the perfect boyfriend for her in her situation; she just needs to be lonely enough toĀ ā€œrealizeā€ it. >3> On the Adrien side of things, Kagami tells him that she canā€™t trust someone who isnā€™t honest with her, but thereā€™s Ladybug: fully understanding and completely trusts him even when she knows heā€™s lying. She also doesnā€™t fault him for their lack of time together and understands if he needs to run away without a momentā€™s notice. Heā€™s already in love with her, but this whole situation just paints her even more as the perfect romantic partner for him. I get it, but I also hate it. I hate this feeling of this one corner of the love square being railroaded. It basically dismisses the other 3 corners as possibilities right alongside the Lukanette and Adrigami ships.
All that grumbling aside, I would like to give some applause to how the episode ended. I very much enjoyed that Kagami was like,Ā ā€œnope. You lied to me, and I canā€™t trust you, so we canā€™t be friends. I need time away from you. Iā€™ll let you know if weā€™re ever okay again.ā€ It shows the consequences of playing with someoneā€™s emotions, even if under the best intentions. It also shows that itā€™s perfectly okay to cut out toxic relationships, even if the other person didnā€™t intend any harm. Well-intentioned people can still cause toxic relationships, and if you need to step away from them (as Kagami did), then you are completely valid in that decision. Itā€™s an important lesson for kids to learn, I think. Iā€™m just worried that Kagami brushing off even being Adrienā€™s friend (while justified) might mean not really seeing her in the show anymore, and that would be a shame. šŸ˜Ÿ I do enjoy her as a character, and would love to see more of her growth. Plus, she is so limited in social interactions as-is, so I hope we see more Kagami and Marinette friendship growth.
I am also interested in how Adrien reacts to the knowledge that he can indeed ruin his friendships with people if they arenā€™t in the same emotional space. This is most likely whatā€™s preventing Marinette from confessing: fear that Adrien will reject her so severely that he might not even want to be her friend anymore. So having Adrien now possibly have that fear as well has some interesting story potential (if the writers donā€™t drop the ball like they did with the Lukanette/Adrigami ships). Meanwhile, having a dejected Luka still offering friendship and support to Marinette - something clearly Adrien assumed would happen with Kagami; once a friend, always a friend - might give her the confidence to confess to Adrien, now trusting that they are good enough friends and heā€™s a kind enough person that they can still remain friends even if he doesnā€™t return her feelings.
Thereā€™s a lot of potential birthed from these opening episodes, but especially fromĀ ā€œLieā€ and Iā€™m interested to see what the rest of the season is going to look like now.
Also... ARE WE SURE THAT LUCKY CHARM BRACELET IS ACTUALLY LUCKY!? ITā€™S BEEN THE HIDING SPOT FOR AN AKUMA TWICE NOW!

Some Passing Thoughts on the New Miraculous Episodes
Finally got around to watching the fansubs of the Shanghai special andĀ ā€œTruthā€ (Iā€™m still waiting for the other episodes to come out before watching Furious Fu).
Miraculous World: Shanghai ā€“ The Legend of Ladydragon
I have to say, I might change my mind later if the Prodigious proves to be more crucial to the overall lore of the series, but right now? Yeah. This special is a major skip for me.Ā
I did not connect with Fei the way I fell in love with Jess and Aeon. I am so pissed at the set-up the writers came up with to GET Marinette to Shanghai; her reasoning is the most selfish thing we have ever seen her do and it is such an injustice to her character. Plus, it is like neither Ladybug nor Chat Noir learned anything from the New York trip as they both show up in Shanghai kind of spur of the moment (i.e. didnā€™t tell the other they were leaving Paris). In fact, Marinette - again, going back to my hatred for the setup to get her to China - didnā€™t even CONSIDER the fact that Paris would be left unprotected; that Ladybug would be MIA. Granted, it was stated that Hawk Moth was surprisingly inactive, but shouldnā€™t that put her on hyper-alert; waiting for the other shoe to drop and Hawky to release something big that he was building up to? Instead she just lowers her guard and doesnā€™t even consider her superhero duties when planning on following Adrien.Ā
Another annoying thing is that the writers didnā€™t seem to learn anything from backlash against the episode ā€œKung Fu.ā€ They just once again have Adrien be the one offering to teach Marinette Mandarin; not her mother (whose Chinese name Marinette never even knew), nor her great-uncle. Another writers flub was in the battle against Roi Argent. Ladybug questions Mei Shiā€™s suggestion that revenge does not equal justice (if that was translated properly), and... Iā€™m pretty sure Marinette already showcased in previous episodes such as ā€œSilencerā€ that she very much knows that revenge doesnā€™t equal justice??? Sheā€™s the one who corrected Chat Noir that Silencer coercing Bob Roth to admit he stole from Kitty Section and Marinette isnā€™t justice; itā€™s revenge. So???? HUH? NOW she magically feels like Feiā€™s revenge on Cash is justice for what he did to her?Ā
If all of that wasnā€™t bad enough, the pacing of this special was in complete overdrive as well. You didnā€™t have any of those emotional moments - both heart breaking and fluff-bombs - that you had in the NY special. The focus was largely on Fei, and I didnā€™t even really like her. She didnā€™t have the heart and the fully-fleshed characterization that Jess or Aeon had.
Iā€™m also confused about Gabriel spending the past 15 years planning this whole thing. HOW!? WHY!? This is before Adrien was even born, or VEEERY shortly after if we skipped over his 15th birthday in the series. This was LOOOOOOONG before Emilieā€™s illness, which is presumably why Gabriel started using the butterfly miraculous in the first place (as showcased by Gabe in Origins asking Nooroo to remind him how the powers even work before using them for the first time in a corrupted state on Adrienā€™s first day of public school). So, if getting the Great Power of the Prodigious was something he was planning on doing literally all of Adrienā€™s life, why present it asĀ ā€œI found something that can finally give me an edge against Ladybug and Chat Noirā€? I mean, what was his original endgame going to be? He couldnā€™t have possibly known that heā€™d be in dire need for the cat and ladybug jewels but struggled to take them from two teenage superheroes. Itā€™s like the writers are trying to set him up as some mastermind akin to David Xanatos from Disneyā€™s Gargoyles, but they are failing miserably. The whole Hawk Moth plot just doesnā€™t make sense to me.
Honestly? The only things that made this special worth it for me were: 1) Finding out a bit more about Sabine and her family (I love that she probably picked the name Sabine because it sounded like the pronunciation of her Chinese name) 2) Seeing Gorilla be his action figure nerd self a bit more (and the action figures of Uncanny Valley and Eagle) 3) Mei Shi in Renling (?) form, who was hella adorable! I need him as a plushie STAT 4) Adrien being the precious bean that he is. Just every moment heā€™s on screen was adorable (complete with him STILL having the picture of Marinette that was sent to him inĀ ā€œEvillustratorā€ saved to his baton and using that to try to find her) 5) Seeing the world through the eyes of a kwami for the first time and learning a touch more non-crucial lore 6) Mei Shi in statue form reminding me of the Dragon costume on The Masked Singer.
Tumblr media
(I know, seeing them side-by-side now, they really arenā€™t that similar after all, but itā€™s been about a year since Dragon was on The Masked Singer, and heā€™s still what I kept thinking of as I watched Mei Shi on screen)
While I obsessively watched the New York special at least a dozen times, Iā€™m really only seeing myself re-watch this special once more when itā€™s in English, and maybe whenever I do a full-series binge (which is super rare that I take the time for that).
Not impressed. Sorry.
Truth
ā€œTruthā€, on the other hand? Hhhhhnnnnnngggg. My heart! It breaks! Poor Marinette. Poor poor Luka. I mean, silver linings at the end there, but also BIG OOF. (Also, why wasnā€™t Adrien around at all whenever Truth made people confess that Marinetteā€™s secret was her love for Adrien? xDDD)
Iā€™m also a bit confused about the Adrien pictures. She had them taken down pretty much sinceĀ ā€œTroublemakerā€, and yet her walls are once more papered with Adrienā€™s likeness now that Marinette is trying to get over him and date Luka? How does THAT make any sense outside of the writers goingĀ ā€œwe need an awkward phone call between Marinette and Luka. Oh! I know! A picture of her Adrien-covered bedroom walls is accidentally sent to Luka!ā€ >3> Also.... what is UP with Lukaā€™s animation again!? The kid was so pale itā€™s like they forgot to add any color to his model in this episode. WHY CANā€™T THEY JUST ANIMATE MY PRECIOUS SON LOOKING HANDSOME EVER!? FIRST NO EYELASHES, AND NOW NO SKIN TONE!? WHYYYYYYYYY!? Personally, I preferĀ ā€œSilencerā€ toĀ ā€œTruthā€ both in overall story and in Lukaā€™s akumatized form design. Also, side note, did anyone else notice that Ladybug was hit by Lukaā€™s attack and couldnā€™t speak for most of the battle both times? And that she needed Chat Noir to help her set up her Lucky Charm both times? And that Lukaā€™s drive both times was to get to the truth?
I did still enjoy this episode very much. It showcases the new stresses Marinette has to face (totally unfair; I agree. However, itā€™s a standard trope in most teenage superhero stories such as Teen Titans and Spider-Man, so I was expecting it). It showcases how hard it is for her to figure out a balance between life and superheroing (again, re: standard teen-superhero trope). The fans get confirmation on a fantheory thatā€™s been circling pretty much since Luka was introduced (ESPECIALLY after the episodeĀ ā€œDesperadaā€). The Ladynoir shippers are well fed, and itā€™s great to see LB and CN praise each other - including Ladybugā€™s love of Chat Noirā€™s humor.Ā
I hope this isnā€™t the end of us seeing Luka in the show (that would break my heart even more) and it feels lame to build up the LukanetteĀ ā€œlove rivalā€ arc only for it to die off before it really goes anywhere. There was so much story potential there where Marinette could grow to learn what it truly means to be in love, and not just idolize and romanticize someone youā€™re infatuated with. Instead, all she learned is that she is alone aside from Chat Noir, and I feel like thatā€™s SUUUUPER railroading the Ladynoir ship. And, frankly, Iā€™d much prefer to see the Ladynoir side grow naturally, as it has been, instead of forcing Marinetteā€™s hand because Chat Noir is the only one she can be MOSTLY honest with (secret identities notwithstanding).
Itā€™s been a long hiatus. Iā€™ve spent a lot of time trying to dodge fandom salt, but still get a larger dose than I intended to have in my fandom diet, so maybe my views are a bit tainted from that. However, this special and season premiere feel a bit like the writers are stumbling. I donā€™t know if the pandemic somehow affected their writing flow, or if they feel pressured by the fans to tell the seriesā€™ story a certain way and are scrambling to do so, or if they are rushing to an ending instead of taking their time and letting it naturally unfold as they had with the first few seasons. But, regardless of their reason, I hope they re-find themselves; the ones who told great stories in seasons 1 and 2 and (poor writing for Marinette notwithstanding) really good stories in season 3. I hope they can step up their game for the remainder of season 4.Ā
Itā€™s been a long break, and we all deserve something good to feed us. We donā€™t need another GoT or HIMYM final season. Especially when this isnā€™t even supposed to BE the final season of the series.
Guess itā€™s time to wait forĀ ā€œLiesā€ to come out, and hope for the best.

The Rogueā€™s Scribe:Ā Trying Out New RPGs
Look at me dropping those quotes aroundĀ ā€˜writingā€™ finally!
Not much by way of actually writing out story narrative, but I did do a bit of creative story brainstorming this past week, so..... good enough????
For this weekā€™s post, I chat a great deal about:
Hubbyā€™s and my attempts at trying out Sigils in the DarkĀ by Kurt Potts finally.
Apparently we are complete Fail at solo RPGs
I stylized my dark mage off of Hawkmoth from Miraculous Ladybug; Hubby unintentionally made Hans from FrozenĀ into a Magic: The GatheringĀ Planeswalker???
Kinda sorta meet Emelia AgraiseĀ
There are some really fun elements to Sigils, but Hubby and I think the game needs to be workshopped a touch more, and we may have to House Rule some things.
I go on about this game for QUITE some time... whoops.
Hubby, me, and @dragnime working on character creation for Blades in the DarkĀ by John Harper and distributed by Evil Hat Productions.
Meet Mara Basran
Dishonorably discharged cop who is now starting up a Thieves Guild with her three newest besties, and whose main rival is a bounty hunter who is cocky AF.
Better than Hubbyā€™s main rival who is a locksmith who tries to create harder and harder to crack locks and safes.
Anyway, if you want more in-depth info on these two new characters, as well as an unofficial review of Sigils in the Dark, why not check out the full blog post? The Rogueā€™s Scribe: Trying Out New RPGs

Well, look at that! More snow!
Tumblr media
The Rogueā€™s Scribe: And Still More Snow...
This week Iā€™m trying to ignore the snow by talking about:
a reviewer named Wildfireā€™s Flame finding my stories thanks to @thetauruspixie suggesting them. (If youā€™re Wildfire, please message me, Iā€™d love to chat!).Ā
my progress withĀ ā€œOne and the Sameā€
my progress and initial thoughts with readingĀ ā€œArmadaā€ by Ernest Cline
rereadingĀ ā€œPeeping Tomcatā€ to remind myself of my in-verse continuity
my concerns about OatS being a flop, and how Iā€™m aiming to overcome those fears
aaaaaaand, yes, quick comments about all the darn snow. Always on Tuesdays... >_>
Check out the link above, or you could click here.

The Rogueā€™s Scribe: Howā€™s 2019 Treating Me?
I overslept this morning, so Iā€™m an hour late on everything, including my blog post update. Sorry, folks.
This week I...
Get a bit in-depth with my writing progress forĀ ā€œWoven Heartstringsā€
Talk about auditing my time, and how I utilize my planner
Comment on how I did with my New Year resolutions in 2018
Go into detail about what my resolutions are for 2019
Give my thoughts on my reading challenge book list for 2019
Promote a book written by a fellow member of my local writing group
Promote the writings of @cyhyr
Itā€™s a jam-packed blog post this week! I hope you enjoy.
But, for those of you who are curious about that book written by a local, you can check it out here: PARABELLUM: When You Live in Peace, Prepare for War by Jack Nanuq
Tumblr media
Itā€™s part spy thriller part historical fiction, so give it a whirl if thatā€™s your sort of thing.
Again, you can read more about everything I stated above by checking out my blog this week:

Latest Writing Blog Post Live
Once again my crazy-busy day means I forgot to promote my post! But I did manage to get this week's blog post up by 11:45 this morning (ignore that it's 24hrs late).
I did some more non-linear writing and chatted about that, talked about the rave review over on @thetauruspixieā€˜s blog, promoted Celeste Straub's book one more time, and focused on the compliments I got at writing group yesterday.

@lycorogue wrote a review of the story @zenmisery and I wrote for Love Square Fluff Week 2020. She was so generous with her kind words and we love her. šŸ’•

The Rogueā€™s Scribe: Come Check Out These Fics!
Tumblr media
My writing was mostly focused on all of those blog posts last week. Which means I havenā€™t done much fictional writing. Instead, this weekā€™s post is about a handful of awesome fics Iā€™ve read this month.
LoveSquare Week 2020 by @kittyynoirr (aka LittleLottieWrites)
Really sweet exploration of the different prompts. Including at least two awesome Ladrien stories.
The Enemies AU story/chapter was an awesome pilot for a potential future multi-chapter story.
Chasing FeelingsĀ by @coffeecomicsgalore
A continuous story with each Fluff Week prompt as a different chapter theme.
A sweet tale of how the Love Square collapses into a lovely couple.
Final chapter has the most adorable over-the-top dorky Adrienette pranking the class, and an off-the-wall reveal that I LOVE because of how gloriously stupid and perfect it was.Ā
Two Hundred Seventeen Days by @chanceuseladynoireā€‹ and @zenmiseryā€‹
Another continuous story with each Fluff Week prompt as a different chapter theme.
Aged up Adrienette story with hints of the other sides of the Love Square throughout the story.
ALL. THE. FLUFF.
Kwami shenanigans because theyā€™re beyond sick of the Love Square BS.
Immortal Bonds by @thetauruspixieā€‹
A demons/supernatural entities AU
The story officially starts, giving a base on what Marinetteā€™s life is like before any supernatural influence. However, an interaction with Master Fu seems quite unnervingā€¦.
Due to the AU nature, only the most basic knowledge of the fandom is needed.
Discordant Sonata by @edendaphneā€‹
An Aged-up and Enemies AU
Each chapter has its own musical term as a theme, and wonderfully selected mood music.
Chat Noir battles with whether or not heā€™s on the correct side while the duo also deals with their growing affections towards each other.
It is angsty and heartbreaking, but thereā€™s also rays of hope that make you want to read more.
Due to the AU nature, only the most basic knowledge of the fandom is needed.
Displaced by Time by @cyhyrā€‹
A FFXV fanfic
A main cast made up of delightfully well-rounded OCs that you quickly become attached to.
Time travel shenanigans makes the story intentionally a bit confusing so the reader must get their bearings alongside main character Vesper.
The story takes place almost parallel to the events of the game, and may even quietly influence the events.
No prior knowledge of the fandom is needed.
Please, give these fics some love. And for my full reactions/reviews on them, check out my blog. The Rogueā€™s Scribe: Come Check Out These Fics!
