Carry On Countdown Day 11: Wavering

Here is the half-there, wavering ghost of Lucy Salisbury, guarding the wavery guttering candle of her life force til Simon can find his way home to his family.

Six Sentece Sunday

Hello friends! Yesterday was Davy's birthday and it made me very excited to share some headcanons I have about him and getting to draw him. You can find this "Meet Davy" here.

So, since I'm a MalMage shipper through and through, I'm also working on Malcolm's:

This is a teaser since I don't want to share the likes/dislikes yet, and I still don't know what he looks like either. I'll figure it out.

I've been working as well on my Davy/Lucy AU and here are some words:

Back at home, I’m used to expensive meals with uncomfortable clothes that suffocate your intestines when sitting, odd conversations with gentlemen whose wives never seem to please them, and boring myself to death because there’s nothing I could enjoy that doesn’t include my little brother, Jamie. And growing up where I have a title that includes having a name that’s deemed us worthy of a family sword, walking somewhere, taking the train… has never been inside my plans. Davy’s not his usual paranoid self as we’re walking hand in hand; we're talking about his latest discovery, and he’s looking at me. He’s such a passionate soul that when he shares his thoughts with me, he doesn’t stare. He’ll be pointing at a page on a book or talking with his hands or scribbling words he needs to visualise, but he doesn’t give me his entire attention. If it was anyone else, I would feel taken aback, but his blue eyes settled on me feel warm.

And I worked on my CORB from a couple years ago and the smut so far... it's going. I have no idea why I wrote this (maybe I'll change it), but this is what's going so far:

“Fuck me, Baz.” His tail squeezes my tail even more and one of his wings’ talons pokes my back in the wrong way. Simon’s nails break the skin of my back, and the smell of blood fills my senses. […] His whole body is shaking and I picture him back as a 20-year-old boy incapable of being intimate with his boyfriend due to trauma, crying during foreplay. It’s a measure I didn’t want to resort to, but I have no other option, if I want to keep us safe. I use more than necessary force to rip myself from Simon but I find it impossible.

Adult Simon having difficulties during foreplay is a very interesting topic, but I truly don't know if I should keep it because I want this fic lighter. (Although, when do I ever do anything light?)

🕯COC 2024 Wrap-Up❄️

The Carry On Countdown of 2024 has quite unfortunately come to an end. We hope that everyone who participated had an incredible time and that the entire fandom enjoyed all of the spectacular content from this year's fabulous creators. The admins sure had a blast feasting on all of the art, writing, crafts, baked goods, newsletters, content lists, audio clips, and fantastic media of all kinds!

We sincerely hope everyone will remain inspired to create even more wonderful Carry On related content into the new year.

But before we say goodbye to you all, it’s time to welcome new people onto the Page of Honour!

What you need to do to get your place on the Page of Honour:

You need to have completed all 30 COC 2024 prompts on their set days (If you posted a prompt within a day or so of its set posting date that’s perfectly fine, but, for example, if you posted a prompt for Day 8 on Day 11, that’s a bit too late. Please use your best discretion; if you think you posted as close to the prompt date as you could within the 1-2 day range, please apply for the Page Of Honour! We want to honour as many creators as we can <3)

You need to DM @carryonmylovelies with an explanation/link of where to find all of the work you posted for this year’s countdown (Can be simply saying what tag everything is under on your blog, or a link to your ao3, etc.)

You’ll also need to let @carryonmylovelies​ know whether you want your blog or another platform where you posted your content (such as ao3 or instagram) linked on the Page of Honour. You can only choose one.

Lucy drops the slim knife and pulls her hands back in startlement. At eight years old, I’ve only just started letting her cut things, and then only soft fruits with my dullest knife.

“Why not, mummy?” she asks. “We cut the blueberries last week!”

I sigh and smile. This is part of it. This passing on of hard won knowledge. That the methods that suit one occasion aren’t meant to be applied to another. This is the reason that I was so thrilled when Lucy decided she wanted to learn to cook. Thrilled and relieved.

It’s been far more difficult, being a mother, than I ever envisioned when Andrew and I set out on this journey together. I’d thought that my girl would be much like I was; fond of home comforts and domestic pursuits. I thought I’d wile away many a happy hours sewing or cleaning or crafting with my daughter.

I'm panicking because time is running out for me to finish my AU fic, but it's... going?? at least 300 words keep me consistently going:

LUCY

I started to wonder… Maybe he didn’t like something about me that other boys did. Davy has never been interested in touching, or doing anything related to that. I thought maybe he was with me for some unknown reason because he didn’t act like a regular boyfriend would. We figured out how to hack the spell of the gender wards to get me into Mummer’s, but it was never to be intimate with me; he genuinely wanted me to be there so badly he figured out a spell for it. But the look he’s giving me right now is making all those questions disappear.

The prompt said "no davy-hate propaganda" and i took that personally.

My headcanon for Davy (because... malmage shipper) is that he's a mlm gay man. But with this Davy/Lucy fic I'm starting to view him differently. He has such a lovely way of being with Lucy, and while I don't think he was in love with her the same way he felt for Malcolm, I truly believe he loved Lucy and that he developed lust as well. He had to, at one point. And Davy is such an 👉👈 type of guy, I enjoy writing him lusting for her. It's ridiculous, lovely and cute to look at him wanting Lucy. He's so lovely.

And speaking of Malcolm Grimm...

I'm having a ridiculous amount of trouble picturing him and drawing him. If anyone has any tips of how to draw long, slightly curly hair, help me. I don't know how to draw that, and I want to also draw more Baz, so the hair must be worked on.

And while it's slowly going his presentation card, I want to show Malcolm's music taste:

Vann is short for Vanora, his older sister.

I don't think Malcolm listens to music religiously, I think he does it more to share moments with those he loves and as a love language. (Also half of Malcolm's personality was made out of Davy; he has no Personality).
