how beautiful and poetic is it that lucio katou looks at hinata, a character so often embodied by the sun and how it blazes, and is reminded of japan's winter. lucio katou looks at hinata and sees a flurry of snow even when the heat of brazil's sun and sand has dug its claws into them. lucio katou looks at hinata and is chilled by hinata's drive and passion and hunger, feels the wind nipping at his skin and the frost settling in between his bones, is blinded by the white glare of snow under which warmth still flickers like a candleflame being kept alive by cupped hands. and hinata, so used to being summer-bright and sun-strong, will learn what it means to be seared by a light that is not his own.

Day 7 - "Liyue"

My prompt for day 7 was Liyue (genshin impact) and Julian (the Arcana)! An odd cultural crossover, but it was a lot of fun to design him like this! It's been a long time since I did anything with the Arcana, drawing this made me realise how much I miss drawing this guy and I think I will have to change that in future (if my hyperfixations can stay in check for more than five seconds)

AUTUMN REMINDED ME TO YAP ABOUT WEDDINGS, HERE, okay. I don't know if this was intentional right- okay well this first part was very intentional obviously the Scourge are based on Norse Vikings- side note but I'm pretty sure Vlagnagog's real life inspiration is a Norse god called Níðhöggr (Nidhogg) ANYWAY that's interesting but it's not the point of this post the point of this post was talking about how Lucio's wedding habits have parallels to Norse traditions

Lucio's not much of a cat guy? hell, Pepi hates him, we know this from at least 2 different Heart Hunter interactions. but like keeping in mind that he leans more in the bird/dog/miscellaneous albino animal direction- why just. some normal ass big cats. WELL. it makes me think of the Norse goddess Freyja, who among many other things, embodies love- so it makes sense to invoke her imagery at a wedding! (or a fantasy world's equivalent to her) (AND to add to that, some articles I've read claim that Vikings would give new brides kittens because of these associations but other articles disproved it. so I guess it's up in the air. the cat/love associations are still there either way so big cats specifically being at a wedding makes sense)

but yeah intentional or not I do like to run with this kind of thing I think it's cool

Welp, began going through the Arcana blog, chronologically, and reblogging most of the ask arcana replies, concept art, lore tidbits etc. onto @arcana-crumbs , trying to kinda sorta categorize it all.

I'm about 200 pages into the blog (WHEEZE), 450 more to go. I don't recommend following it for now because I'm not timing these reblogs lmao, dozens of them in rapid succession.

It's also interesting to see how quite a few of these old posts don't really... match some of the later personalities and lore in the game. If Dorian simply reposted them today, some people (me included) would get annoyed lol. Reminds you that these things don't really have to be taken seriously, aside from a few fundamentals.
