Bad Future AU - Gyms

Just like I said, I'm back talking about more changes that have taken place in this alternate timeline. This time, the gyms of Sinnoh. Some are similar, some are different, but each has a new story. Sorry I don't have character refs this time. But they all do have new looks. I could make some if anyone wants to see any particular character. Anyway, let's get into it!

Oreburgh City - Merlot (or Mars as we knew her) runs the gym as a normal gym. With Roark unable to run it, the gym was offered to the strongest trainer. Merlot entered because she was bored and ended up winning. She has Purugly as her ace.

Eterna City - Gardenia still runs it but she is often very busy raising her young daughter, Clementine. As such Cheryl runs the gym half of the time. Both of them would rather spend time with Clementine, so the gym is empty a lot of the time.

Hearthome City - Fantina remains the leader although she never made it in the contest world. Instead she embraced a more gothic nature, running the gym as a sort of haunted opera. She's awfully dramatic but she takes her role as leader seriously.

Veilstone City - Felicity (or Jupiter in our timeline) has taken over the gym here, running it as a poison gym with Skuntank as her ace. Maylene was never able to become leader, she was too busy being a performer in the game corner trying to make ends meet. As such, Felicity was assigned the role to keep her out of trouble. She has too much fun thinking of new puzzles to mess with challengers.

Pastoria City - Still run by Crasher Wake or Johnny as he calls himself now. His wrestling career never seemed to take off so he took a job as the warden of the Great Marsh. He's passionate about this job, although he seems more humble here than he is in our timeline.

Canalave City - Riley took over for his friend Byron after his unfortunate passing during a cave in on Iron Island. He still runs it as a steel gym to honor his friend but he has many doubts about how well is doing as gym leader. He wished he could have been there for Roark before the boy ran away.

Snowpoint City - Candice reprises her role as gym leader. She is a very serious, no nonsense person due to being trained to be the next guardian of Snowpoint Temple. She rarely ever smiles or even takes breaks from her training.

Sunnyshore City - Due to Cynthia abandoning the league and Lucian being moved up as champion, Volkner took the empty slot in the elite four. As such another aspiring inventor from Sunnyshore, Cyrus, runs the gym. He seems quite happy in this role, showing off his inventions to the town. The gym is now dark type and Cyrus uses his Honchkrow as his ace.

It's really the sheer absurdity that has him embracing the chaos that's been brought upon him. He can't say he's not having a little fun here! "That won't do, he knows who it is—he'd just be like, 'How's Volk doin'?' and that's all!" He's a man of less words after all! "Mm-mm, you don't even have a Shieldon on you, how's that gonna fool people!"

"Huh? Why does having a gut matter when giving hugs? No, the secret to giving good hugs, is to put all your love into it! If you don't believe me, why don't you jump into my arms like when you were young, my son?!"

Koko let go of Roark and spread his arms wide to catch Roark on the slim chance he actually does decide to jump into Koko's arms.

"But the truth is... your father has been very lonely lately. So that's why he- er, I work so hard to lose that gut! I got to look my best for all the eligible bachelors right?"

At this rate, Koko might just tank Byron's reputation. Well, either that or give Byron an unwanted boyfriend.

"Speaking of which, don't you have your own boy-toy? How's that been going?"

Bad Future AU - The Ships

Everyone's favorite part of an au, the ships. At least, its always something I look forward to. Time to go over what couples exist in this alternate timeline.

Getting this out of the way first, Lucas is not interested in romantic relationships here. He barely acknowledges Barry and Dawn as his friends half the time. The only thing he cares about is stopping Hood and keeping his brother safe, although Sean keeps subtly encouraging him to make friends.

Dawn and Barry both have feelings for each other although it takes some time for them both to realize. Barry admirers her unwavering optimism despite everything they've gone through. And Dawn knows that Barry is a strong person underneath all of his nerves. Together they bring out the best in each other.

Sean has a huge crush on Felicity (Jupiter). He loves not only her beauty but her cunning and powerful personality. He's liked her ever since he saw an interview of her. For her part, Felicity thinks he's cute, in a dorky way. She often refers to him as "hot shot".

Gardenia and Cheryl are together and are raising Clementine as a couple, as well as running the gym together.

Aaron has a massive crush on Lucian, which was a major factor in why he stuck around. He knows Lucian better than anyone and knows what a gentle, caring person he is. Lucian knows that he cares deeply for Aaron, being his best friend, but hasn't quite figured out if its love yet.

Before anyone asks, Hood and Cynthia's relationship is not romantic in any way. Hood has the mentality of a child half the time and it would be seriously inappropriate to romance him. Cynthia is more like a mother to him.
