Before he could even fully grasp the door he felt sharp nails dig into the wound on his neck. He whimpered and dropped back to the seat, turning weakly to watch Lestat lick the blood from his fingers.

  “Don’t be impolite Daniel.” Lestat said with the voice of one explaining something to a disobedient child. “I didn’t say I was going to kill you.”

 After Daniel is attacked by Lestat he finds himself the prisoner of a vampire he knows only from Louis’s tale. In the space between life and death, fear and love, Armand and Daniel come together.

I feel like many people have a fundamental misconception of what unreliable narrator means. It's simply a narrative vehicle not a character flaw or a sign that the character is a bad person. There are also many different types of unreliable narrators in fiction. Being an unreliable narrator doesn't necessarily mean that the character is 'wrong', it definitely doesn't mean that they're wrong about everything even if some aspects in their story are inaccurate, and only some unreliable narrators actively and consciously lie. Stories that have unreliable narrators also tend to deal with perception and memory and they often don't even have one objective truth, just different versions. It reflects real life where we know human memory is highly unreliable and vague and people can interpret same events very differently

Louis never saying "I love you," to Lestat for 30 years yet casually saying it to Armand after a year and a half and directly after denying they're companions in front of their peers, and Armand never apologizing to Louis for over 70 years but apologizing to Daniel twice after a week and a half and only after arguing that he doesn't even really need to...

Something something it's easier to say something you only half mean than to say something you mean so much it would tear you in half trying to get the words out.
