A BRIEF HISTORY OF LOTUS SALOONS Lotus Cortina 1963-1970. Officially the Ford Consul Cortina developed by Lotus (Mk 1) and Ford Cortina Lotus (Mk II). Powered by a Ford engine with a Lotus developed DOHC. There were 3,306 Mark I and 4,093 Mark 2 Lotus Cortinas produced Lotus Eminence Project 1980-1984. The earlier design was by Paolo Martin of Pininfarina, the later by William Towns but neither made it off the drawing board Lotus Carlton/Omega 1990-1992. Officially the Vauxhall Lotus Carlton and Opel Omega Carlton. Lotus had developed a relationship with General Motors during the 1980s so the Omega A became the basis for a super saloon with the Opel 3.0 litre straight 6 24 valve DOHC engine taken out to 3.6 litres and fitted with twin turbochargers to make 377hp and what was, for a time, the world's fastest 4-door production saloon with a top speed of 176mph. Production amounted to 320 Carltons and 630 Omegas Lotus Eterne Concept 2010. A non-functioning design study that was shown at the Paris Motor Show, was to be powered by Toyota 5.0 litre V8 or an F1 derived hybrid drivetrain and was to go on sale in 2015 but never did. Lotus çiçeklerine çocukluğumdan beri hep hayran olmuşumdur. Sadece şu sıralar biraz fazla onlar gibi olmak istiyorum.

Bataklıkta doğarken zorlanırlar belki de. Yaşarken gövdeleri hep çamur içindedir. Ama oraya aittirler. Oradan başka yerde olamaz,yapamazlar.

Mor veya sarı yaprakları vardır. Bedenleri çamur içinde olsa da kendileri eşsizdir,benzersizdir. Bu günlerde kendimi Lotus çicekleri gibi hissediyorum. Ama daha çıkmamışım gibi o bataklıktan. Amacım bataklıktan gitmek,kurtulmak,kendimi başka topraklara ekmek değil. Lakin yapraklarım çıksın istiyorum. Yapraklarım bari çıksın o çamurdan,nefes alsın istiyorum.

Night Bjuti's eponymous debut album (pronounced Night Beauty)taps into women's legacies, freedom, magic and love with ritual jazz, blues and the electronic blessings of Sun Ra. The Black woman trio of vocalist Candice Hoyes, bassist Mimi Jones and percussionist Val Jeanty named themselves after a Haitian folk tale about a deceased girl who reclaims her skeleton to recapture her life. Hoyes'prayerful utterances, Jeanty's remixing of ceremonial rhythms and Jones' agile bass does sound like avant-garde jazz for the dead at times. They are the first group of its kind and improvisation is at the center of their creative process that excavates ancestral memories with a balance between the linear and the abstract.

The deeper conceptual moments found in "Witchez" and the rumbling rhythm and poetry of "Mood (Liberation Walk)" is akin to Shabazz Palaces' celestial hip-hop funk. Zora Neale Hurston's letter to W.E.B. Dubois proposing a cemetery for eminent Black artists and Carrie Mae Weems's Kitchen Table Series of photographs are referenced on the album that moves more like a single composition instead of individual songs. Hoyes says, “We are expressing the kind of pillaging, the uprooting of women in ways personal, intergenerational, familial, sexual, past and present." "Stolen Voice" protests the erasure of Black women's history and reclaims it at the same time with Jeanty's whirlwind sequences, Jones' trancey bass grooves and Hoyes' piercing notes. The layers of intensity are felt in Hoyes' vocals expressing sorrowful wails commemorating past wrongs but quickly morph into furious condemnation after striking decibel shifts. The trio is living somewhere in the same universe occupied by Ursula Rucker, Robert Glasper, Flying Lotus, Burnt Sugar, The Last Poets and Kendrick Lamar but they have their own unique space. Night Bjuti's official debut inventively combines protest, healing, love and truth-telling into an enchanting movement of sound.

"...he [Saichō] stated his hope that these deities may overcome the evil karma that had caused them to be reborn as Kami, that they may serve as protectors of the monks' practice hall, and that they may bring their innate seeds of buddhahood to maturation by listening to the preaching of the Lotus... Saichō echoed Chinese rhetoric on the Buddhist "taming" of local mountain deities. Chinese biographies of eminent monks (Gaosengzhuan) refer frequently to the submission of hostile and violent deities who seek to obstruct the building of temples in their domain. By demonstrating the superiority of the universal Dharma over local "demons," Buddhist monks proved both the truth of their religion as well as their ability to apply it for useful purposes. Throughout the Buddhist world, monks faced local deities by defining them as deluded beings subject to the eternal laws of karma... In classical Japan such skills were especially welcome. Deadly epidemics, fires, and other disasters constantly threatened the court and the populace, and the control of 'wrathful spirits' (onryō) was at the top of the political agenda.

In Japan this Buddhist approach to local deities took many forms. One was the founding of shrine temples, where sutras were read for the deities at some distance from their shrines. Slightly later, shrines themselves were decked out with Buddhist paraphernalia and the deities themselves were depicted as human-like sponsors or practitioners of the Dharma, or as emanations of Buddhist divinities (Teeuwen and Rambelli 2003;7-31). The founding of the Jingū Zen'in, which was described as Hie's 'shrine temple' in later sources, and perhaps even of Enryakuji itself, followed this pattern. The court supported the Buddhist taming of Hie by allowing the annual ordination of two Tendai monks with the specific task of reciting sutras for the benefit of the deities of Greater and Lesser Hie (in 886)... In subsequent centuries, the Hie Shrines themselves became the main scene of Buddhist rites to the kami, and the Jingū Zen'in gradually lost its significance (Sagai 1992: ch. 5)."

KUAN YIN - COMPASSION BUDDHA

Amongst the numerous bodhisattvas of compassion and wisdom, why does Kuan Yin have such unique and unparalleled eminence?

Firstly, the "Lotus Sutra", an extremely important sutra in Mahayana Buddhism, is widely read and recited. One of its chapters, "Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva Universal Gate"，extols Kuan Yin's great wisdom and merits; this chapter was compiled and widely circulated by devotees, and was later known as the "Kuan Yin Sutra".

Secondly, "The Thousand-Handed and Thousand-Eyed Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva's Vast, Perfect, Unimpeded, Great-Compassion Heart Dharani Sutra", abbreviated as

"The Great Compassion Dharani Sutra" (Mahã Karuna Dharani), is another important and popular sutra that encourages devotees to cultivate great compassion through recitation of the Dharani. Recitation of this Dharani is synonymous to reciting the holy name of Kuan Yin.

Those who recite Guan Yin's name sincerely are relieved from suffering and have their difficulties alleviated; in the face of adversities, request for help is usually granted. The simplicity of this practice makes it very popular and faith in Kuan Yin is thus deeply ingrained.

Kuan Yin is also known as "Mother Kuan Yin", the feminine association representing women's compassion as well as a mother's loving kindness, just as the timeless and intimate way an infant calls its mothers.

The earthly mother, on the other hand, is a mortal with many limitations.

A bodhisattva is different. The compassionate Kuan Yin exhibits maternal loving kindness in relieving sentient beings from suffering with her supernatural powers; through recitation of her name, she senses those seeking help and provide deliverance. Hence, most will instinctively recite her name when faced with adversities.

Regardless of the knowledge or understanding of the function of Bodhisattvas, Kuan Yin is considered a guardian bodhisattva by many, a compassionate mother that watches over and protects us at all times.

Intoduction to the Annapurna Upanishad, the Exploration of the Mysteries of the Queen of Foods.

The Annapurna Upanishad was written around 3-4 CE. It is numbered 79 of 108 Upanishads and is contained in the Atharva Veda.

Annapurna means Queen of Foods. She is an emanation of gooddess Parvati, "the goddess of the mountain stream" the Ganges. She is often depicted as the partner of the god Shiva, but is also worshipped on Her Own. As the Feminine Aspect she is without rivals.

The food people eat influences their nature and vice versa. The Chhāndogya Upaniṣhad explains that the coarsest part of the food we eat passes out as feces; the subtler part becomes flesh; and the subtlest part becomes the mind (6.5.1).  Again, it states: āhāra śhuddhau sattva śhuddhiḥ (7.26.2) “By eating pure food, the mind becomes pure.” The reverse is also true—people with pure minds prefer pure foods.

Although we might like to have junk, oily and spicy food, it is not good for our health and invariably causes illness. To curb the tāmasic [lazy] and rājasic [ambitious] nature of our mind and to follow a sāttvic [saintlike] regime is the only way to have healthy body and mind.  “The pleasures that arise from contact with the sense objects, though appearing as enjoyable to worldly-minded people, are verily a source of misery. And such pleasures have a beginning and an end, and so the wise do not delight in them.” (Bhagavad Gita 5.22)

Therefore, we should be in constant check of what we eat as it has direct effect on our body and our mind.

May we see with our eyes what is auspicious, O ye worthy of worship !

May we enjoy the term of life allotted by the Devas, Praising them with our body and limbs steady !

I-1-2. The king of Yogins, Nidagha, prostrated flat (like a rod) before Ribhu, that pre-eminent knower of Brahman. Then, rising, that ascetic respectfully said, ‘Teach me the truth about the Self; by what kind of adoration have you, Oh Brahmana, attained this state ?

I-3-4. Teach me that grand science which yields sovereignty over the empire of emancipation. ‘You have done well, Nidagha ! Listen to eternal science by the knowledge of which alone will you be liberated life. Lodged in Om that envelopes the Root of phenomena (Brahman), supporting the syllable ‘aim’,

 I-5-7. ‘Eternal bliss, independent (‘hrim’), renowned, with streaming stresses (‘sauh’), the ruler of the world (‘srim’), Mahalakshmi, (at once) desire (‘klim’), fulfilment, and humanity, is the divine Annapurna. ‘I begged of Her, using the celebrated and quintessential incantation of 27 syllables, cultivated by hosts of female ascetics,

 I-8. ‘Namely, aim, hrim, sauh, srim, klim, aum namo bhagavatyannapurne mamabhilashitam annam dehi Svaha. [Salutation, O divine Annapurna, vouchsafe the food I desire]: ‘Thus have I been instructed by my father. From then on have I established myself in (this) discipline, persisting in the activities of my station (in life) and have given myself up to the daily practice of this incantation.

 I-9. ‘When many days passed thus, there appeared in front of me Annapurna, wide-eyed, her lotus-face beaming with a smile.

 I-10. ‘Seeing her, I prostrated flat on the ground, and (then) stood up with folded hands. “Well, child, you have done well; ask of me a boon, delay not.”

I-11. Oh (Nidagha), best of sages ! Thus hidden by the wide-eyed (deity) I spoke: ‘O Daughter of the mountain, may the truth of the Self dawn on my mind’.

 I-12. Saying ‘be it so’ she vanished, then and there. Then, through the perception of the world’s variety the idea (mati) arose in me.

 I-13. Delusion appears five-fold; it will be presently set forth. Due to the first delusion, Jiva and God appear to have different forms.

I-14. Due to the second, the attribute of agency dwelling in the Self appears to be real. The third (consists in) deeming the Jiva associated with the three bodies as having attachment.

I-15. The fourth takes the world-cause (God) to be mutable. The fifth delusion ascribes reality to the world as distinguished from its cause. Then, also, in the mind flashes the cessation of the five-fold delusion.

I-16. From that moment, spontaneously, my mind was assimilated to Brahman. O Nidagha, thus may you, too, secure knowledge of reality.

The Upanishad does not suggest we get into the car and drive to New Jersey in search of an Annapurna Temple and commit idolatry. All Hindus know the gods are emblems of the process of the discovery of the Self. Annapurna the Queen of Foods is an aspect of the Supreme Being that helps us become secure in the teachings of the guru and the scriptures in the discovery of the ultimate truth of existence.

Shruti, the "spiritual narrator" of the text says, "yes, man can become an Agent of the Supreme Abode if his appetites for wisdom include "secure knowledge of the Almighty."

All the Upanishads suggest the following process for acquiring this knowledge which is called the Annapurna, "the Queen." It be used by persons of any faith.

Pray with a question about the nature of the Self, "Teach me that grand science which yields sovereignty over the empire of emancipation."

Now we know there are dipshitz out there trying to trap us in ignorance with discussions about nonsense and nonesuch. They are demoniacs and there is proof- their strife is ruining this planet.

So first, we have to realize the real purpose of religion is freedom from strife.

2. Freedom from the envelope of ignorance comes from science and knowledge.
