Warnings: Implied smut/Nsfw, some spice but nothing detailed. Cuddling with a friend. Secret relationship. Enemy to lovers. Kind of betrayal. (Please let me know if I should add anything)

A/n: Hey Ho. Well, this is only the second fandom for which I post fanfiction and I haven’t written for a while. And my native language is not English, so please forgive me for any mistakes and it was more of a spontaneous idea I had. Please just don’t expect a Jane Austen novel. (I'm not nervous, you are xD) Okay, I’ll stop talking now and just hope that at least one person will kind of enjoy this here. Have a great day/evening/night.

"Y/N! Hey, Y/N, wake up. You’re having a nightmare." The voice of bloom breaks through the wonderful dream you just had.

"Y/N, come on, please, you have to wake up, it’s all right, I’m here, it’s just a bad dream."

Confused, you slowely open your eyes but the second after you closed them again, blinded by the bright light of the lid lamp.

"Ugh," escapes your mouth while you press your face into the pillow.

"Y/N, finally! Everything is fine." Bloom’s deliberate calming words only add to your confusion. More carefully this time you turn your head to look at her.

The brightness lets small tears shimmer in your eyes, quickly you try to blink them away.

"What’s the matter?" you ask without really opening your mouth but Bloom understood you anyway.

She carefully puts a hand on your cheek, stroking a tear from your skin with her thumb. "Hey, don’t cry. Everything's okay, it was just a nightmare, don’t worry, Valtor’s not here."

Suddenly your eyes widen, "What? Valtor?" Your voice sounds nervous as you're pushing yourself up to sit, capturing her gaze with your own.

"Hey, I told you everything was okay. It was just a bad dream. You called Valtor’s name in your sleep, I can understand it, I often dream about him. But we’re with you, we protect each other, don’t worry."

The Guardian of the Dragon Flame moved closer to hug you. Still overwhelmed you let it happen, placing your head on her shoulder.

You can’t find the right words to get yourself out of this uncomfortable situation. And the only option you have is to play along and just agree.

You close your eyes, still not accustomed to the brightness and two more small tears roll over your cheeks, your chin and finally land on Bloom’s arm.

Your friend sighs, "Back a little, I can sleep next to you, maybe we’ll both dream better."

In your head you hear the laughing of the lord of evil. He's laughing at you for this situation. Gloatingly, teasingly.

You nod indecisively but at the same time shake your head to banish the magician from your thoughts, which rather ends in a strange circular movement.

The fairy lets you go and crawls behind you on the bed, patting on the mattress next to her and slowly you lie down.

With a snap, the light goes out. Bloom approaches you, wraps an arm around you before snuggling up to you.

You grab her hand to cross your fingers with hers.

"Try to sleep a bit more, I’m here now," she whispered.

Your heart is racing incessantly as you can do nothing but nod again, it has absolutely taken your breath away.

For the next few minutes it is quiet, you do not dare to move. Not until you are aware of the regular breath of the fairy. She fell asleep.

You sigh and are sure that your cheek must be red like a tomato from shame.

Your mind worked at full speed to realize and process the things that have just happened. You must summon all self-control to avoid giggling. At the same time, however, you feel your guilty conscience eating through your body, burying cell by cell.

Your friends were always there for you, they helped you every second without asking questions, they trusted you blindly, just like you trusted them. They made every effort to protect and support you.

You all had nightmares about all the things you had to go through and survive. But since Valtor came into your lives, everything has gotten worse. Hardly anyone can sleep for a whole night. Hardly anyone can dream of anything beautiful.

Hardly anyone can feel something like true joy.

But while all your friends were plagued with nightmares and are not allowed to have a careless second because of the dark wizard, he is the reason that you can sleep well. That you still feel something like satisfaction or happiness and can forget all that terrible things for a moment.

It was pure irony.

While they all suffered because of the wizard, every night you dream of his hands gliding over your entire body when you sneaked out of Alfea to meet him in the cloud tower again. How his lips invade every spot of your body, leading you into another dimension. How his rough voice sounds musically in your ears when he groans your name or tells you how perfect you are for him. How his hot breath flits over your skin when you lie in front of him on the desk. How he makes you feel as good as no other has done before.

What was your dream, was their nightmare.

What became your joy, became their sadness.

What deprived them of all their powers was what made you feel more alive than ever.

Valtor was their curse, but he was your blessing.

The more you thought about it, the more your mind became weary. And as soon as your eyes closed, you were back at the sport you were before Bloom woke you up.

In a storeroom in the cloud tower, without clothes, while the magician knelt in front of you, throwing your head back in pleasure.

In the cloud tower, Valtor laughed deeply as he turned his gaze away from the sphere through which he had observed you and your friend.

He could hardly wait to make you blush with the events of today and evoke your shy side the next time you would come to him, your enemy, to wind under him in passion.

He had taken off his coat and pulled the sleeves of his shirt up to his elbows. Sitting in the big desk chair he turned in a semicircle. He looked through the large windows of Miss Griffin’s office into the dark night. Then he leaned back, closing his eyes as well before mentally diving into the same memories you are exploring.

This little fairy had fallen for him, just like he had fallen for her.

Never before in his life had he been so afraid of Sunday. He knew what awaited him then, he knew that the whole town, all the people of Chelsfied would want to meet him and have a few words with him.

He knew how gossip worked, even more so in such small towns, he knew that everyone was already talking about the fact that he was bankrupt, that he had no eye, that he had come to Borros Baratheon's house like a stray dog, begging for his daughters' pennies.

He felt sick at the thought.

Worst of all, he realised, the very people who surely deep down despised and mocked him would pay him compliments, ask about his health and express their joy that someone like him had come to their town.

He knew they would do this, and then they would talk behind his back, whispering about how great his scar on his face was, how he reigned like a lord, how they felt sorry for any of Mr Baratheon's daughters who would receive the unpleasant honour of becoming his wife.

He knew this and had mentally prepared himself for it, but even so, when confronted by such a huge crowd of strangers he panicked, forcing himself out with barely a few words, leaving the whole conversation to Mr Baratheon. He felt embarrassed for himself and thought it couldn't have gone any worse.

When they were finally to be seated he waited impatiently for the youngest Miss Baratheon to take her place and sighed heavily not understanding why it was taking her so long.

"This seat is for Mr Targaryen. After all, we won't let him sit at the back." He heard Floris' words with difficulty and furrowed his brow, glancing at them out of the corner of his eye.

"There's enough room for everyone." Whispered her younger sister, impatient and tired of the humiliations that had been endless since he had appeared in their house.

"There isn't." She replied lightly, something akin to mischievous amusement in her voice.

He watched in silence as the youngest Miss Baratheon withdrew and walked to the bench behind them, sitting down resignedly, looking down at her hands, her father turned to her and asked her quietly what she was doing.

He decided that he had no intention of sitting next to this insolent girl and putting up with her solicitation or the, obviously casual, touch of her body, which she would surely cling to him as soon as he sat down next to her.

Therefore, he joined her younger sister at the back, recognising that his reputation in this place was ruined anyway, so it didn't matter if he sat in the first or last pew.

He just wanted holy peace and quiet.

He saw Floris turn to him, frowning her eyebrows, surprised and displeased by his decision, wanting to say something already, but he didn't even let her open her mouth.

"Please attend to your prayers, Miss Baratheon." He growled coolly, and she flushed with a blush of shame and turned away, correcting her hat as if nothing had happened. He felt her little sister's gaze on him and glanced at her out of the corner of his eye, frustrated.

"Can't you concentrate on prayer in the house of God either, Miss Baratheon?" He rebuked her in a dry, frustrated voice, and she shook her head quickly, pulling a prayer book from her small bag.

He was relieved that he had chosen his prayer companion well, for Mr Baratheon's youngest daughter was focused the whole time and did not look at him, absorbed in her own thoughts.

He knew she was only pretending.

He knew she was thinking only of him, like her other silly sisters wanting to be princesses in a magical palace.

Even though he had told her not to look at him, now it was he who glanced at her all the time, wanting to catch her in the act, to prove to himself that he was not at all mistaken, that she was not at all different from them.

Neither Cassandra, nor Floris, nor Ellyn, nor Maris could stand it; each of them turned at least once in his direction, and he felt like laughing at the pathetic sight.

He was frustrated and tired.

He felt like a sold-out object in the eyes of his family, a way to royalty in the eyes of the general's daughters and a nobody in the eyes of the people around him who knew absolutely nothing about him.

He was alone.

As they stood up to receive the eucharist, he let her pass in front of him and drew in the air feeling her body rub up against him, her pleasant scent reaching his nose.

Had she done this on purpose?

He stood behind her in the line, looking at her intensely, hoping that when she took communion and turned back towards the pews, she would throw him a look that would reveal everything about her.

She, however, did not even turn her face towards him.

He sat down beside her, a little closer than before, watching for her reaction, but she was still staring absently ahead, her fingers wandering involuntarily over the soft material of the cover of her prayer book.

What was she thinking about so strenuously?

He opened his knees a little, just a little, so that their legs came into contact almost imperceptibly. He felt her flinch, her fingers moved in an anxious gesture as she swallowed loudly, but she did not turn her face towards him.

He pressed his lips together, glancing at her once in a while. He grunted and corrected himself in his seat, pressing his knee harder against her leg, looking at her expectantly.

Look at me.

Stop pretending.

He could see that her breathing had become anxious, that her figure trembled with uncertainty and fear, her hands clenched tightly on her book.

And suddenly he had an idea.

Why not play with her?

Alys loved it.

Subconscious, innocent coquettishness.

His hand from his knee went over her fingers, which clenched panic-stricken at the object on her thighs, and he grinned with satisfaction, knowing that she thought he wanted to touch her so directly, so indecently. At the last moment, before his hand touched her skin he grabbed her prayer book and with a slow movement pulled it from her grasp.

He took her book as if nothing had happened and began to look through it, recognising that it was really old and beautifully published, it must have been at least 20 years old by now. He felt her face turned towards him, but she still wasn't looking at him, her hands lying on her lap was trembling.

"Please, sir, give it back to me." He heard her faint whisper, and he murmured under his breath, delighted that she was finally speaking to him, taking some strange pleasure in her helplessness.

They both knew full well that this was what she wanted.

A little bit of his attention so that she had something to think about at night.

"What harm am I doing? I am merely looking at it, Miss Baratheon." He hummed softly, licking his finger, turning another page. He knew she saw the gesture, felt her whole body tense up when he did.

Come on, answer something ambiguous, play with me.

"Please. This is my only memento of my mother." She mumbled with difficulty, and he froze.

He felt his heart start pounding like crazy, his knee immediately pulled away from her body. He grunted loudly, feeling a sudden dryness in his throat, and handed the prayer book back to her.

When he felt the touch of her skin he involuntarily mussed it with his thumb barely, as if in a gesture of apology for having completely misunderstood her reaction to what he was doing.

He glanced at her with his lips pressed together and felt a tightening in his pit, a sudden chill went through his body when he saw that she was crying.

She didn't make a sound, her body and lips trembled slightly, tear after tear ran down her cheek and she wiped them away with her hands, looking straight ahead, her eyebrows twisted in pain.

He clenched his hand into a fist feeling only the shame overpowering him.

Of course she didn't want to flirt with him now.

What was he thinking?

He wanted to apologise to her as soon as the liturgy was over, but she got up at once, literally running out of the church. He looked at her with his lips slightly open, not knowing whether to stay or run after her, what he should do.

He finally left quickly, deciding that he couldn't leave it like that, that he couldn't let her tell her father about it. Heedless of Floris' and Cassandra's calls, he ran a little way, come to think of it no one of his status was likely to do so, and saw her round the bend in the village road.

She turned towards him hopefully, evidently thinking that he was her brother, but when she caught sight of him a moan of disappointment and pain broke from her lips, which for some reason made him feel even worse. Her face was flooded with tears.

"Miss Baratheon. Forgive me. I have no idea what has gotten into me." He mumbled with difficulty, not knowing how to properly apologise for what he had done, how to explain the momentary eclipse that had apparently descended upon his mind that he had allowed himself to behave in such a way.

She looked at him, breathing hard, and after a moment she shook her head, pain and some kind of immense weariness in her eyes.

"I don't understand you, sir. I try, but I don't. You are cruel. You humiliate me and my sisters knowing that we do not stand in a position to oppose you. I would like to be your friend, but I am not sure you could be a friend to anyone, let alone a person of such low position as myself." She burst out on the verge of crying and despair, then turned and moved with a quick step towards her house.

A moment later, Cassandra and Floris ran up to him asking what had happened, what their sister had done again, and he did not answer them.

You are cruel.

I would like to be your friend, but I am not sure you could be a friend to anyone, let alone a person of such low position as myself.

These words rang in his ears for the next few days and he felt like he was going completely mad. She avoided him, did not look at him or speak to him.

He kept repeating to himself that this was one less tiresome sister, that at least she was no longer taking Vhagar away from him despite the fact that his dog missed her and howled at her door when they returned from walks. Still, even though he pretended that this change suited him, he couldn't stop thinking about what she had said.

I would like to be your friend.

What did she mean by that?

He had never had a friend. He didn't have access to other, strange children because his grandfather considered them unworthy and feral, that he and his siblings would pick up bad habits from them.

He could not say he was friends with Aegon or Helaena, for they were never close. He loved Daeron, but he was his younger brother, not a confidant.

He realised then with amusement and embarrassment that he had no friends.

He had never needed them and did not feel that this should change now.

Nonetheless, he felt a kind of discomfort as he walked with Vhagar to the shore of the lake where she had fallen asleep with him at the time, and as soon as she spotted him from afar she got up and set off back home, greeting only his dog on the way.

He wanted to stop her, to talk to finally alleviate this tense atmosphere, but he couldn't get anything out himself.

To his despair, Cassandra, Floris and Maris had insisted for so long on organising a ball with dances at their estate that Mr Baratheon finally gave in.

He hated dancing, hated the fact that everyone was then looking at him and talking about him, his scar, his eye patch, the fact that he was poorly mannered for a man from London since he allowed ladies without a partner to have to sit.

He didn't have the strength to explain how tired he was of such entertainment, how he only dreamed during it that he could already go back to his room and lock himself in there with his dog and his books.

Therefore, he was not surprised by the surreptitious, disgruntled glances of the guests, who did not understand why instead of asking one of his future chosen ones to dance, he was sitting with his legs crossed, tapping his fingers on the table top, looking around, bored.

He knew what they thought of him and he didn't have the strength to try to change it.

He watched from the corner of his eye as Mr Baratheon's youngest daughter danced with her brother, her gown, like that of her sisters, was all white with a high waist, long gloves halfway down her arm on her hands.

In her front curls, which were arranged at the back of her head in a small bun, were pinned the white field flowers he had seen walking with Vhagar once before, the rest of her hair was loose, waving slightly with her every movement.

He had to admit that they were both excellent dancers and he could see by the joy on their faces that they were taking great pleasure in this, their figures turning with lightness and to the rhythm. He thought, watching them these few days, that they were very close to each other and he partly envied them the bond that he himself had never managed to establish with his siblings.

However, he felt a strange kind of unease, as if a tingling in his chest, when he saw her being asked for her next dance by a colonel whom he remembered from balls held in London.

Colonel Larys Strong was a strange and disturbing man to say the least in his eyes. He knew him because the affair between his brother, Colonel Harwin Strong, and his half-sister, Rheanyra, had been the talk of London.

Everyone suspected that her children did not come from her first marriage, but just from their union, which would make her children bastards, which indeed he believed them to be.

Nevertheless, it was Larys who seemed more dangerous to him, for his conversations with women, which he sometimes listened to from the sidelines, bored, were inappropriate, impertinent and ambiguous to say the least, often embarrassing them. He would pick out young, naive girls in love with uniforms and male prowess.

He thought, looking at the youngest Miss Baratheon, that he couldn't have chosen a better target, and tapped the tip of his tongue against the wall of his cheek, looking at them in thought.

He wondered if he should warn her, inform her to be wary of this man knowing what intentions he might have had for her. He hesitated, recognising that this was why she had her older brother and father to watch over her. On the other hand, he reminded himself that they did not know his nature and he felt anxious again, playing with his fingers extended on his armrest in a nervous gesture.

I am not sure you could be a friend to anyone, let alone a person of such low position as myself.

He rose slowly from the chair he was sitting on, to the surprise of Floris and Maris, who had accompanied him the whole time, playing cards with each other.

They led him away with curious eyes as they watched him disappear between the crowd of guests, circling around the dancing Miss Baratheon and Colonel Strong, making sure that his hand did not slip too low or that he did not slide too close to her.

He pressed his lips together seeing that as soon as the dance was over, Colonel Strong immediately leaned over to ask her for another dance, a shadow of uncertainty flashed across her face.

He recognised that she was too young and inexperienced for him to watch idly as this man pestered her.

For this reason, he did the first thing that came to his mind. On a sudden impulse, he moved towards them, meeting the surprised stares of the conversing couple, and bowed before asking Miss Baratheon if she would honour him with her next dance.

She looked at him in disbelief and for a moment probably wanted to refuse him, but then she glanced at Colonel Strong. She lowered her gaze and nodded, embarrassed.

Colonel Strong made room for him, glancing at him surreptitiously, and he, whether he wanted to or not, now had to trudge through the few minutes of this torture and then face the critical stares and remarks that he had danced with General Baratheon's youngest daughter first, rather than the eldest.

They bowed to each other and then moved, passing between other couples, her hand on his. He decided that since it was appropriate to talk while dancing anyway, and everyone was looking at them, he preferred to divert his attention and convey to her what he had wanted to say all along.

"I would not trust Colonel Strong if I were you, Miss Baratheon." He said dryly, turning with her, glancing impatiently to the side. They made another move and her hand covered by the material of her glove was again on his, he met her gaze, uncertain and sad.

"You are quick to pass judgement, sir." She declared with a kind of resentment from which he furrowed his brow, but again they had to separate, avoiding the other couples, in those few seconds he thought through what he wanted to reply to this accusation. When her hand was in his again, he looked at her out of the corner of his eye.

"In his case, I have very solid reasons for that." He stated coolly and she blinked, swallowing hard, clearly wondering whether to believe him. He couldn't look away from the white flowers pinned into her hair, he thought they suited her and reflected her person well.

"It seems to me that it is easy to lose your good opinion, let alone gain it." She replied surprisingly seriously for how she usually spoke, he could feel the tension between them every time they came close again, their hands on each other's arms.

"I thought I was the one who was quick to pass judgement." He mused, not taking his eyes off her, and she flushed and lowered her gaze, embarrassed that he had turned her own words against her. Involuntarily the corner of his mouth twitched in a smirk of satisfaction.

Teasing her gave him an disturbing amount of pleasure.

She glared at him, a little giving in and a little fighting, recognising that she would make one more attempt to point out to him what she thought of him. They turned their backs to each other and moved sideways, avoiding the couples who passed between them and stood at the very end, facing each other again, her fingers back in his hands.

"Why is my conversation with Colonel Strong so preoccupying you?" She asked curiously, wrinkling her brow, her cheeks red from embarrassment and exertion after another dance in a row, some of the tiny strands of her hair stuck to her face.

Her face seemed pleasantly soft in its shape to him.

"Friendly concern." He replied dryly, her eyebrows arched in pain and disbelief, her eyes large, widened in surprise, for she had completely not expected such words. She swallowed loudly, lowering her gaze, her lips pressed together.

She gave up.

"Then it remains for me to thank you, sir." She said a little more softly, lifting her gaze to him not so displeased and hurt anymore, some kind of warmth and relief was painted on her face.

"Hmm." He hummed and they stopped in front of themselves at last, the music around them ended and people began to clap.

As was the good custom he escorted her to the side, glancing at the table where Floris and Maris sat, Cassandra standing behind them had tears in her eyes. He let out a quiet breath, knowing what awaited him when it was all over.

"Don't worry, sir, I'll tell them that you danced with me just to rescue me from this intrusive man." She said softly seeing where he was looking, sensing subconsciously what he was thinking about.

He hummed under his breath again, glancing at her out of the corner of his eye, measuring her with his look from top to bottom.

"Why?" He asked dryly, and she smiled at him in a way that made him warm.

"Friendly concern."

even before you're dating carol is very protective over you. and while everyone asks why she protects you but won't ask you out she can't answer. but when she sees you flirt back with someone all her pride is gone. she can't act like you're hers if you literally just flirted back. she'll try to coward away but she genuinely doesn't want to use you. if shes feeling up to herself she'll go up to you two and try to assert dominance. she'll let out a "who's this?" but way less confident than she wanted to. when she sees you don't seem uncomfortable with the presence of the other person she loses a little confidence. she won't directly tell you about it, but shell ask if you're dating the person later.

sharon watches from afar. she watches your every move and is suprised when she sees you flirt back. she's made it very known to you that she likes you but if you just don't realize it. and while she will definitely be a little hurt, she doesn't know how to react so it turns into silence. she'll give you the silence treatment and will honestly be a little mean. not enough to hurt you or intentionally make you cry. her flight or fight almost goes off but when she realizes that she genuinely wants to build a life with you, she eventually confess. after a few days she'll want to confess. she's realized that maybe ignoring you will drive you away and attract you to her 'competition'

i feel like darcy would lowkey cry:(. like when you like someone so much that seeing them flirt with someone just hurts as if they cheated on you. that's what happens. she'll not want to confront you about it in the moment but later she will question. and jane will be hearing it all. you go to comfort her not knowing you're the reason for her state. in these moments she'll hold on to you tight and pray you want her. she'll be clingy. when you realize why's she's upset she might b a little mad but will eventually forgive you. when you take her out and cheer her up she'll slap you're head and scold you to not do it again

seeing you flirt with someone else hurt maria. and she'll let you know. not in a toxic-try-to-make-you- feel-bad way. but a more mature way. she'll ask to speak to you in private and state things like 'i'm not sure we want the same thing' or 'i thought we had something' something along those lines. but she'll be very sincere and sweet. it's okay if you don't like her but she'd like to know. and sure she's pretty closed off about her romantic feelings, but she'd want you to know. if there's a chance that the feelings are mutual, she's going to take it.

kate would just be baffled. okay you're incredibly beautiful but she always looked away so she wouldn't see if you flirted back. and watching you get flirty and touchy with another person hurt. you always touch her arm like that and she's the only one who gets to make you laugh like that. shes confused because she genuinely thought you two were thingy thing. and afterwards when you get time alone she's asking you all the questions. are you going on a date with them? you like them? when did you meet? you sure you can trust them? but she'll just ramble trying to convince you not to be with them, but with her.

If you could rewrite homestuck (I mean act 1-7 nothing past that) What would you change?

For the most part Acft 1 up to Cascade has been fine. Everything after that will have major changes. Like have Beta Kids from the ship and meteor actually speak with each other and visit each other during the travel. They have all the means for communication and I think it's bullshit they never talked to each other. Rose's alcoholism will be solved without Vriska involved. Terezi gets help from the people around her to stay away from Gamzee. And trying to free Gamzee from Lord English's servitude. Have the dead trolls be alive again. Be it on the meteor or in the Alpha session. Not as sprites. Just themselves. No teen drama with the Alpha Kids either. Have the dead trolls interact with the Alpha Kids as they help through their session and issues. NO DANCESTORS. Three of them have larger roles and the rest of the cast is completely useless. There is no need to pad the story out. Let Feferi fill that role for Meenah to take charge and give her development she needs. As well as having the trolls confront and face about their ancestor's past and what they will be for the future. No Union Jack either. Make it known that Calliope's toxic positivity harms the cast too, showing that she is just as awful as Caliborn. The cast would have to beat both Cherubs. Final battles would be The trolls vs The Condesce Beta Kids vs Jack Noir Alpha Kids vs Lord English Bonus is that Spades Slick is on the Alpha Kids side or fights on his own too against Lord English. To finally wrap up what he had came for from the Intermission. He would then get to be with Ms. Paint as a couple. They beat the villains, get Earth C, endgame ships would be things like JohnVris, Rosemary, DaveJade, Karezi, DirkJake, EriRoxy, Equius x Jane, and Solradia. They each have fankids (through natural means or ectobiology, so NO DOG PENIS), and they live happily ever after. And that's just if I keep the trolls in this. Because I think it would be better if Homestuck itself is just focused on the Beta kids fighting against Jack Noir and then Lord English, no trolls involved. If you had to have them, have them only the important ones like Vriska, Kanaya, Terezi, and Karkat help the Beta Kids before they get killed off. Have the troll session, Hivebent, as a separate story that can be explored later. The Acts would be up to 5-6 since that means Dancestors and Alpha Kid session won't be in this. It would be just be about John, Dave, Rose, and Jade. The main four we had been following like it was. This is how I would rewrite Homestuck.

Author’s note: English is not my native language, so I apologize in advance for any grammar and/or spelling mistakes. Reader has a name, but I try not to be too descriptive.

If only she had stopped him. If she did, William wouldn’t have perished with his friend at the bottom of the bridge. Maybe if she were intelligent enough to figure out his plan. Was she not enough for him to stay alive?

Tonight was the night of the ultimate act. Despite her many protests before, Elizabeth accepted that her love wanted to die.

Oh, such precious memories between the two. Elizabeth was a small child when she met the infamous William James Moriarty. She visited her friend, Albert, around the time Albert’s father wanted to adopt a child. Such a horrid family—an unfortunate circumstance Albert was living in. Elizabeth was not aware of his family’s hatred of the lower class until she visited Albert’s manor for the first time. The glares, the snide comments during dinner—they even poked fun at her ripped clothing. However, Albert was different. Overwhelmed with compassion for the oppressed and the kindness of Elizabeth, he eagerly offered her a job, forging an unbreakable connection.

Knowing her gentle nature and heart, Albert invited Elizabeth to visit the orphanage he attends. Though she hesitated at first, but once she started attending, she never wanted to leave. She loved the enthusiasm of children and their love of learning. The staff was sweet. She met some nuns that occasionally visited the orphanage, which Elizabeth considers the highlight of her visits. However, one day, Albert had fallen ill. Despite her shy demeanor, she wanted to visit the children and help the staff like always. In a way, they are her second family. It wouldn’t take long before she entered the orphanage and greeted the children, who were surrounding the new boys in the orphanage. It was if Cupid aimed at her the moment she glanced towards the bench, surrounded by small children, and saw him. A young child with sunflower hair and scarlet eyes is reading to the orphans. The pale, soft-looking skin and long lashes. Who would’ve thought that he would be the one to destroy her world? It was worse since Albert was the talkative one. As if the devil had hatched his plan, the blonde boy stopped reading as he noticed a young girl watching him from a distance. Elizabeth stopped her breathing the moment their eyes met. She knew he was different; he was special. Dear Lord.

“I don’t believe we’ve met before. I just moved here a few days ago with my brother. Mind introducing yourself?” The young boy asked with a gentle smile that set her heart and face inflamed.

Elizabeth couldn’t take it anymore. Before she responded, she ran back inside the orphanage. Her occupied mind led her to bump into two nuns.

“Ah, my deepest apologies, sisters. I wasn’t watching where I was going. I didn’t hurt you two?” Elizabeth asked in a gentle tone.

“My dear, there’s no need to apologize. We understand it was an accident. If you don’t mind sharing, why were you running, little missy?” Sister Agatha asked before she giggled.

“Oh, well, there is a new child in the orphanage. It’s the blond boy reading to the other children.” Elizabeth asked as she glanced at him. “When he asked me to introduce myself, I panicked, and I ran back inside. Sisters, what is this agonizingly pleasant feeling? My heart is pounding, and it’s hard for me to breathe. I don’t understand why, sisters. This has never happened before. It was humiliating.” Elizabeth said as she fidgets with her fingers and bows her head to hide her face.

Sister Jane chuckled at her confession. “Oh, my dear. You will understand once you’re older. Once you learn, it will change your life in the most enthralling way. Don’t stress about it for too long. Focus on being a child for now. Focus on becoming his friend. He is new here, and his brother is quite ill. The poor boy needs all the support he can get,” Sister Jane explained as she caressed Elizabeth’s hair.

Elizabeth lifts her head to look back at the young boy, who stared back at her. Though instead of hiding behind the sisters, Elizabeth waved at him. To his surprise, he didn’t scare her away. The blond boy chuckled and waved back, which put Elizabeth at ease. She bows down and thanked the sisters for their time before she takes a deep breath and approaches the boy again. This time, with much success, she charmed her way into his heart and became his first friend.

It was a wonderful first meeting. She learned so much about the boy and his brother in a brief span of time. He was knowledgeable about a variety of subjects, especially mathematics and chemistry. What surprised her was his knowledge and love for the arts. From the plays of Shakespeare to the paintings of Da Vinci, they spend hours discussing and sharing their love for certain artists. Unfortunately, the boy figured out she couldn’t read when he asked about her favorite authors and didn’t respond to his questions. Instead, she mumbled an apology.

“There is nothing to be ashamed of, Elizabeth. I understand you didn’t have the opportunity growing up. I would be more than happy to teach you how to read,” the sweet boy said as he pulled out a copy of Romeo and Juliet.

“I’m flattered, but you don’t have to. I don’t want to burden you,” Elizabeth said with a flustered expression.

“I don’t mind at all. Besides, it’s a gift to read and share your knowledge with the world. Why don’t we get started? I’m confident you’ll learn in no time.” He said with his charming smile and hopeful attitude. She agreed.

Later on, Albert felt better and visited the orphanage with Elizabeth. However, Albert neglected to interact with the children. He was observing them to find the perfect child for his father. As if she read his mind, Elizabeth suggested that Albert’s father adopt her sunshine boy, and his younger brother, Louis. It sparked something inside him.

One morning, she woke up bright and early because she had the task of cleaning William’s (a.k.a. Albert’s biological brother) room before a few guests arrived. She didn’t realize the guests were the two boys from the orphanage and were part of the Moriarty family. The guests were the young boy she befriended and his younger brother. Out of sheer fear, she ran back to her room. They kept her in the dark about their arrival ahead of time. If she were aware, she would’ve dressed up nicer instead of her worn-out maid uniform. However, as if luck were not on her side, her sunshine boy noticed her and her uniform.

After a long while, the young blond to become her bodyguard, especially when the real William was around Elizabeth. Once the boys were adopted, she shifted her focus to them. Any time they were hungry, she cooked them nutritious meals. When they had an altercation with the real William, she treated their wounds. Anything they want, she gets it for them. Elizabeth does them, despite the consequences she faces for treating the boys with respect.

In the face of verbal threats and intimidation from the Moriarty family, her sunshine boy brought light and peace. When the teasing becomes too much for her, he comes to her rescue. From the late-night conversations in his room, from reading together (well, more of him teaching her how to read), and from taking care of each other, they were inseparable.

Here comes the fire. The smell of smoke woke Elizabeth up as she coughed uncontrollably, looking for anyone’s help. As she ran towards the front door, she tripped. In this agonizing moment, she tried calling out for help. But heavy coughing accompanied every shout as the smoke consumed her body. Every second felt like a minute, and every minute felt like an hour. It was her time to go. Unless…

“I found her, brother,” someone from a distance shouted. However, she couldn’t tell who was shouting. Her eyes were giving out, but hope was here again to guide her to safety and comfort. Before she passed out, she got to see her sunshine boy.

Eventually, she figured out his plan: bring down the corrupt noble class and make a revolution. His desire to help the lower class and give them a voice was admirable. Despite her initial hesitation about joining his organization, William’s persuasive conversation convinced her. Not only with his compassionate heart but with his intelligent plans. She believed that a revolution was coming—a world where the lower class finally attained equal rights, where they were treated fairly, and no longer struggled to gain necessities. A fairer and cleaner world. The aftermath is something she craved for so long.

So Elizabeth stayed through thick and thin. For every corrupt noble killed, it was her turn to comfort William. She knew his gentle heart broke every time he had to kill. But for a revolution to occur, they had to make sacrifices. Even if it meant permanently staining their hands with blood. However, it wasn’t long before her heart broke.

This leads to right now. William was good at keeping secrets from Elizabeth, though he was a hypocrite for his actions. Both preached about honesty and trust in one another, though that was the least of Elizabeth’s worries. Her biggest worry is his safety. At the bottom of the bridge, everyone waits for the death of The Lord of Crime, and at the top, she waits for William to embrace her. Safe in her arms was her sunshine boy. If only…

Not just my friends from Friendsim and Pesterquest (though I fear I never got to meet most of the Alpha kids, given the whole Crockertier thing, and don't you blame yourself for that, Jane) but all the Homestuck cast as well! Friendsim cast, every one of you was a light in my life and I hope you all managed to make a change to the world together. Zebruh, you were a better friend than some give you credit for and I'd give quite a lot to spend another day with you. Daraya, I hope you found meaning beyond the cloisters in your wanderings. Cirava, I hope your career went well, and that your deployment wasn't too painful. Marsti, I'm glad you could find some small joys in your work, but I hope you found some hobbies the Empire wouldn't take from you. Humans: You were all a delight and a pleasure to be around, I can't thank you enough for providing a peaceful and safe place to fall back to. Beta trolls: I can only wish your lives were as peaceful as one could hope for, without SBurb. I hope I caused you no significant pain with my actions under Her Imperious Condescension's control. Alpha trolls, we have never met and I doubt many versions of me ever managed to meet you. Regardless, I wish you a kind and safe afterlife.
