Sundays in Soho: taxis gleam lazy over the crook of denham st, crisp clear sunlight strikes my cheek, bitter cold—flotsam of cigarettes piled up at the curb—smell of stale beer, rubber, pastry—squeezing the glass door of bar italia where strangers, who are immediately friendly, are ending their night or starting their day with espresso—berwick st is still asleep under cobbles—in the devonshire they wave away my money, I nurse my guinness at the window, watching dogs and coats and glittering rickshaws—feeling the day could go anywhere from here

The Market Porter pub in Borough Market
Many trips to this pub over the years but, of course, you can never have too many!

🔸The White Hart pub, White Hart Court, Greenfield Street, London taken 1880s. In 1636 John Greene leased the property on the site of what was later to be the Stag Brewhouse and Brewery. He was succeeded in 1641 by his son, William - later Sir Greene - who built the brewhouse and took his cousin, John Greene into partnership in 1646. John Greene built another brewery at Kensington Gravel pits, London. The brewhouse expanded, the partnership owning over 16 acres by the end of the 18th century. The Watney family were the main partners in the Stag Brewery of Pimlico for much of the 19th century. In 1837 James Watney became a partner in the brewery with John Lettsom Elliot and Charles Lambert, as later did his sons James and Norman in 1856. The brewery was known as Elliot, Watney & Co from about 1849. John L. Elliot withdrew from the business in 1850 and for 8 years remained a partner in name only. He finally retired in 1858 and the firm became known as James Watney & Co. James Watney then kept the management almost entirely to himself until his death, at well over eighty years, in 1884. After his death in 1884 Watney & Co Ltd. became a private limited company in 1885. #victorianchaps #goodolddays #oldphoto #victorian #london🇬🇧 #pub #bar #nostalgia #vintage #streetlife #pastlives #portrait #history #1880s #retro https://www.instagram.com/p/CpdY5D7DJ34/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Chinatown London
flickr
Chinatown London by Roy Llowarch Via Flickr: I love the China Town Soho area of London and always enjoy walking around this area of central London. There is so much to see in such a small area and I always meet new people to chat with. The Lotus Garden Chinese restaurant in London's Chinatown is easily my favourite Chinese restaurant anywhere. I really like Chinese people too

After spending a lot of money on lucky dips from the local supermarkets, we knew to achieve our goals of affordable, tasty wine, we had to do it ourselves. We found the winemakers, we tasted a lot of wine, and we’re delighted with the result, The Loose Moose. We exclusively drink The Loose Moose, and order from the website the same as everyone else because it is the cheapest way to get it on the table.

ProspectOfWhitby Pub
As well as being one of the oldest pubs in London, also have a rare pewter-topped bar which is thought to be one of the longest in Great Britain.
