What's this? Someone posting my ORIGINAL hyperfixation? In our year 2025!
Hallo new friend, prepare for questions.
What is your favorite episode! Or favorite non-core Titan! Is there anyone from the comics you wish the show had done?
Haha hello!! Nice to see a fellow Teen Titans fan here! :] Yeah, years have passed, but this show is going to be forever stuck in my heart! It was one of my absolute favourites during my childhood. Throught the years I kinda forgot about it, but recently I rewatched it again and the hyperfixation hit me like a truck. Let's just say, it's good to be back! :D Picking a favourite episode is definitely a difficult task, so I'll just pick few of my favourite ones! Spoiler: they're mostly centered around Robin, he's my favourite character lol
Apprentice part 2
Tumblr media
I love both Apprentice episodes of course, but part 2 is the one that truly hits. From the epic soundtrack to the even more epic plot. Seeing Robin, forced to be Slade's apprentice, forced to fight his team for their greater good, struggle with his own inner conflict, the fear of being just like Slade. It's all just chef's kiss! Not to mention the absolute BADASS soundtrack. I think it's my favourite one from all of the Teen Titans episode. The episode is also a wonderful finale to Robin's internal conflict as he accepts the fact that he indeed is similiar to Slade, but there are still big things that make them different. The most important one is that unlike Slade, Robin has friends who always have his back. Haunted
Tumblr media
The only thing I'm grateful for when it comes to this episode is that I didn't watch it as a kid. If Aftershock part 2 scarred me back then, this episode would leave a little me, straight up DEAD Definitely the darkest episode of the Teen Titans in my opinion. The fact that we've seen Slade beating Robin up like a ragdoll through the entire episode, only to be revealed that Slade wasn't even there this whole time is just... straight up terrifing. This was the only time I believe where we could see Robin this close to death and the worst thing is that he was the one to almost cause it. I especially think that this episode portrays the mental health issues really well, especially the gashlighting that Robin receives from the other Titans. Let's just say, I kinda relate to it. Now that I think about it, I should make a seperate post for this episode, because there are some interesting things I want to say about it, but NOT NOW LOL Sisters
Tumblr media
RobStar is all I have to say. It was always my absolute comfort ship and I just LOVE to see Starfire and Robin interactions, how gentle and understanding Robin is for her, how he's always noticing that something is on her mind. It's literally so cute! Also seeing Starfire immediately start to struggle with her self-esteem when Blackfire visits is just heartbreaking. Not to mention it's heartbreaking to watch Starfire, this absolute sunshine, being treated so awfully by her sister. And she still kinda loves her... She deserves better :(
Fear Itself
Tumblr media
Absolutely love this episode! Like it's dark, but it has this fun vibe and it kinda reminds me of those old Scooby-Doo cartoons, where we have the whole group of friends, trying to solve some scary mystery. I also really like the twist that all the scary stuff that was happening, the monsters, Titans' disappearing: it was all Raven who didn't want to admit that she was simply scared.
Mad Mod
Tumblr media
This is simply just an extremely fun episode to me! I don't really have much to say here. Like, it's very lighthearted, creative and full of humor and it's one of those episodes I often put on whenever I'm bored or need to watch something during dinner. And also the villain is a British man, obsessed with England, like, what's there not to love.
Favourite non-core Titan? Like you mean what's my favourite Titan aside from the main, official five? If that's what you mean then honestly I have no idea- I never really cared that much about the other Titans and was always interested only in our main protagonists. If I had to pick then it would be someone from Titans East and maybe it would be Bumblebee, but it's more like eeeeh? Like I said, I watch the show only for the original group :'D
Tumblr media
I'm not sure about the comics, because... I don't read the comics (I only read one). But once I saw someone saying that they wished Teen Titans made episode with Batman so we could see Robin and Batman's dynamic. It could be interesting and I would totally watch it
Tumblr media
Thanks so much for your questions!! It was extremely fun to answer to them!! :D

DCAU Rewatch: Batman the Animated Series 2: Christmas With the Joker
Tumblr media
Written by Eddie Gorodetsky
Directed by Kent Butterworth
Supervising Composer Shirley Walker
Music Composed by Michael McCuistion, Lolita Ritmanis
Animation Services by Akom Production Co.
It’s a quiet Christmas Eve  and it looks like there may be no need for Batman for just one night. But the Clown Prince of Prime, freshly escaped from Arkham Asylum, has other plans.
This is a real clunker of an episode that sits particularly strangely when watched in production order. I appreciate some of its charm more now than I did a decade ago but it is incongruous with BTAS as a whole. The episode’s shortcomings on a story level are made worse by AKOM Productions. It’s a studio notorious for how poorly they do their work. They animated most of the 90s X-Men Animated Series, which looks almost uniformly awful, as well as some of the strangest-looking episodes of early Simpsons.  This episode is just not pleasant to look at. Characters are never on model and are inconsistently drawn from shot-to-shot.
It is probably not ideal to watch this one so early in the run because it is the first introduction to a lot of characters including Joker and Robin. It’s not a strong debut for either one. Like Conroy, Mark Hamill is feeling out his performance as the Joker and he is a far cry from the iconic take he settles into. Part of it may be that this episode, and several of the Joker’s early appearances, required Hamill to re-record the already animated scenes after Tim Curry was recast and his performance scrapped. Some of the choices, particularly the lack of his completely unhinged cackle, may be constraints of the previous performance.
Aside from the animation, which is a big thing to set aside, my qualms revolve around the overly slapstick and broad approach to the Joker. The core of his plot, capturing Gordon, Bullock and Summer Gleeson to turn them into a twisted family, is classic Joker. But I wish the episode had focused more on the hostages and tormenting them, as opposed to revealing that Joker has access to secret rocket-powered Christmas trees and enough weapons of mass destruction to topple an empire. It completely falls outside of the tone of what the show turns into. You can tell the whole production team is trying to figure out how to balance the broader superhero tropes and villains with the more grounded elements.
But when you just sit back and let the absurdity of the fully armed tin soldiers and impossible squadron of tanks wash over you, there’s a lot to enjoy. It’s a good showcase for the animated Joker’s personality, which is equal parts genuinely funny and frightening psychopath. It’s a take that I miss seeing anymore.

Stay tuned for more DCAU commentary! And if you are curious about what to expect from this series, the first entry for episode 1 of Batman: The Animated Series, On Leather Wings, is free as a preview.

I almost forgot how much I loved the Music Meister episode of Brave and the Bold. I’d suggest that entire series to anyone, but especially that episode. I’m a sucker for theatrics.
Grey Griffin is just such a good singer, and getting Neil Patrick Harris to do more musical-esque songs is always a plus!

DCAU Rewatch: Batman the Animated Series 81: Harley's Holiday
Harley Quinn has been declared sane and is released from Arkham Asylum but reintegrating into society does not go smoothly for the manic exvillain. Credits Written by Paul Dini Directed by Kevin Altieri Music Composed by Lolita Ritmanis Animation by Dong Yang Animation Co., LTD. It would be easy for this episode to go broad and silly and focus on the comedy angle—to be blunt, to be more…

"Music has always helped transport, uplift and inspire us through wars, economic hardships, health crises and societal upheavals," says show co-creator, Richard Kraft. "When COVID-19 hit, it threatened the lives and livelihood of much of our Film & TV Music community. So, we decided to create an online special that both celebrates the soundtrack of our lives and benefits, via MusiCares®, the artists who create it."
