Hey remember this au from like a year ago, where ryo gets trapped within pegasus? I've been thinking about it again <3
Ginga would ask for so many stories, just to fill up the space while he's traveling.... some of it is beyblade history related. Some of it is ryo absolutely bullshitting just to make him laugh
And Madoka cannot hear him but by god is ryo gonna try anyway. Madoka go to BED. HAVE BETTER POSTURE.
#mfb#metal fight beyblade#ginga hagane#gingka hagane#ryo hagane#madoka amano#it's me art#mmmm just a little dash of angst this time#he misses his dad even tho hes right there. u know?#a story is one of the only things he can give#that aside tho. i like thinking of their shenanigans :)

Do you think the clan cats having less kits per litter/less litters in general (they already have less kits than real cats) would fix the bloated cast issue? Because I look at Ginga and the cast is also bloated and only a few characters have offspring but the author keeps making other dogs join Ohu and refuses to kill the old as fuck dogs
I don't think there's any one particular "solution" for stopping bloat in series that manage large casts through generations like Ginga or WC, it's actually a few things
The #1 MOST important thing I think about bloat, though, is that it's about a ratio of quality to quantity. NOT raw size.
A long while back I made a couple of allegiance lists for certain eras. In spite of my Clans having the same (or even higher!) population as canon, I NEVER struggled with those lists being bloated. If anything, sometimes if a Clan's below 30, they look too small.
(I'm sure you can find those lists if you look, they're probably tagged BB!Allegiance, but they might be a bit out of date)
That's because in BB, there's dozens of HUGE cultural additions to Clan life. In "administration," alone, there's 3 new major divisions of skills (hunting, cooking, construction) ALL with their own "head" of that patrol, plus canon's leader, deputy, and Cleric. Not to mention subtitles like the Educator and maybe a Chaperone/Permaqueen!
So to bring it back to that "Ratio Theory," If our Clan is 30 cats, those 8 major roles immediately give at least a slight amount of character to a little over 25% of our group, with each role being something that the other 75% of cats can desire and compete for.
Canon's measly 3 is 10%, and you can ONLY vy for deputyship if you want any power. There's nothing else to BE ambitious about.
You can make the ratio higher by having hobbies, drama, skills, arts, etc. Basically; characterize background characters! Which should be obvious!! Give them traits that are useful and interesting and show the community being valuable.
It won't feel like "bloat," it has the sense of communities living their lives. Even if they go quiet for a while, when they return (just look at how much people like seeing Sedgecreek or Hallowflight mentioned lmao) it feels like meeting an old friend again.
WAYS TO MAKE BLOAT FEEL WORSE;
Giving too many "opportunities" to old characters.
Think of every relevant role a cat gets as a meal, and the bigger the role the more they've eaten. If you're only giving value to your old fanfavs, you're not doing much for them because they're already full while the rest of your cast starves.
Haphazardly killing off characters.
I actually strongly resent the "trend" where people conflate good storytelling with an author's willingness to suddenly kill characters off. I think it comes from the same place as needing to "outsmart" your audience.
If you kill off a character with VALUE, an unfinished arc, interesting connections, it's just unsatisfying. The Erins have this problem of killing background characters with some established lore or value (like Harelight and Briarlight) while leaving uninteresting background nobodies behind that they never build back up.
Before killing a character, ask yourself what their role in the cast is, and their dynamic with others. Try not to axe them without a plan to fill that "role" and/or comment on their absence. Replace what you take.
EASY REPLACABILITY
This one is HUGE, this is why Ginga is so bad with this. If a bunch of dogs die, 100 random soldiers can replace them from somewhere. That is REALLY bad, because all the random influxes of new characters do not have a chance to replace what was lost.
It also makes death feel cheaper. Oh no! Background dog 7446 got eaten by the newest type of bear. This won't make battles harder to win or cause us to lose any valuable skills though. Also a new dog just walked in from offscreen.
Population Growth outpaces Death Rate
AKA your cast is growing too fast and you're not getting rid of old characters. This is what anon was asking about-- and it CAN help to make births less frequent and litters smaller. Make sure to pair with preventing lots of new, adult characters to casually wander in, too.
ALL of these tips have exceptions and places where they can (and should) be subverted and broken. But these are just things I think about
#Working with canon's population sizes is also fun to do#It really helps me prevent neglecting background characters if I have to pick someone to do--#--some skill or hobby from a limited cast#It's a good limitation. Can't just make new people out of nowhere#Bone babble#Bones gives advice

ultras ranked by how much I’d trust them to not get my house destroyed in a kaiju battle
Tiga-san: I have absolute unwavering trust. Tiga would save us.
Most new gen ultras: Yeah there’s a good like 20-40% chance my house gets fucked. If they’re close by I’m not trusting it.
Ginga: shoutout to this guy tho for taking it to the woods
Zoffy: He usually does a really good job all things considered but he died twice so I’m a little shaky
Leo: The whole town is fucked
The rest of the Ultra Brothers: They’re scary…
Dyna: I’m packing my things now

The Contestants Are Here!
Thank you for your patience, I'm now ready to announce our contestants for the Obscure Character Showdown! There are 300 characters, split up into 6 groups of 50.
Here's how the schedule will work: Day 1 is Group A Round 1 Part 1, Day 2 is Group A Round 1 Part 2, Day 3 is Group B Round 1 Part 1, Day 4 is Group B Round 1 Part 2, Day 5 is Group C Round 1 Part 1, and so on and so forth until we reach Group F Round 1 Part 2, and then the next day we'll fold back over for Group A Round 2. I'm splitting up the rounds because tumblr can interpret posting many polls at once as spamming, and each group contains 25 polls, so. 13 one day, 12 the next.
I expect to start polls by Wednesday, May 31, but I may be a little later than that. I'll keep you updated.
The polls will be tagged with 'obscurecharactershowdown,' 'obscure poll,' and their group letter and round number.
Under the cut is the groups and matchups. Thank you all for your submissions, and I'm sorry if your submission didn't get in! If it was a submission for your OC, a mythological figure, a Real Life Thing, an album character, a commercial character, etc, then you may not be out of the running yet. Be patient, I have something else I'm working out!
Please don't come into my inbox, replies, dms, etc, and tell me that a character I chose isn't actually obscure at all. No one's media experience is universal, and from my own experiences, I picked to the best of my ability.

I was translating Cyrus's Japanese game quotes to see if there were any differences, and this beauty happened. He's not like the other Ginga boys, guys.
He really hates that he feels things. And desperately wishes to understood yet no one seems to.
He's a little confused here, I think.
Cynthia bravely telling a depressed man to fuck off. (Or worse depending on how you interpret her words.)

Thinking about Ryo/Ryuusei's and Ginga's names again, that Ryuusei stands for "meteor" and Ginga "galaxy". That meteors burn up in the sky long before reaching the ground. That galaxies hold countless stars, and their solar systems, and every big and little thing in between.
Ryuusei gave his son a name that was so much bigger than his own, like he was certain Ginga would grow to be so much stronger, kinder, more important than he was. Because what was a little shooting star, not an actual star at all, in comparison to billions of stars? What was a brief flash of a dying flame to the heat that warmed whole solar systems?
And he seems genuinely happy in the manga when he realizes Ginga had passed him in strength, handing over his bandana like he said he would. Like it was meant to happen. Natural.
As much as Ginga is shown to look up to him--dressing like him and wielding a Pegasus evolved from his and copying special moves made by him-- Ryuusei clearly looked up to him in return, long before Ginga took up saving the world as a side hobby. So why wouldn't he name his son something to reflect that, a name so much grander than his own?
After all, in a remote village, you can't gaze up at the clear night sky without coming face to face with your galaxy and a mere sliver of its stars. You can miss seeing meteors fall, but you can't avoid that.

★ SOLAR - 23 YEARS OLD - QUEER - POLYAM - CLOSED - AUTISTIC - GNC TRANS GUY - ALTERHUMAN - WHITE - BRITISH - HE / IT ★
Hey there! My name's Cody, but I generally tend to go by Solar, Ray or Sunny online. That said, you can call me pretty much whatever you want. I'm not too picky. I'm a hobbyist artist, occasional writer and professional dog who's had the misfortune of being on this miserable hellsite (do people still call Tumblr that?) since 2014. I was around before then, but I didn't make an account until that point. My blog isn't strictly NSFW, but I do reblog posts with dirty humour and references to sex. So if you're a minor or someone who doesn't want to see that kind of thing? I wouldn't recommend following me. Want to know more about me or about this blog? You can find more info under the cut! ✌️
The dividers in this post were made by @chocoperrito and you can find them here! ❤
》 WHAT'S THIS BLOG ABOUT, DOG MAN?
I'm glad you asked! This is my main blog so it's generally just a mish mash of all sorts. Anything and everything pertaining to my interests goes here, it's a total free-for-all. That said, you can mostly expect reblogs about queer topics, political and social issues, different media that I like, shitposts and furry art. Lots and lots of furry art. I may occasionally post my own art here and possibly my own writing in the future if I feel confident enough.
》 WHAT ARE YOU INTERESTED IN?
I am, in fact, a human person with nuance so you can argue that no matter how many things I tell you that I like? None of this will even come close to conveying the full spectrum of who I am, so please keep that in mind. I'm more than my interests. That said, it doesn't mean I can't at least give you an idea of the things I enjoy so to name a few things offhandedly: I really enjoy art, writing, reading, poetry, photography, filmmaking, animation, cartoons, video games, RPGs, 3D platformers, visual novels, folk punk music, ska music, 80 and 90s visual aesthetics, bright colours, primary colours, breakfast foods, thrifting, kitsch, antiques, tacky button-ups, animatronics, toy restoration, early 2000s internet, xenofiction, medieval fantasy, lost media, queer history, TV history, film history, furry history (namely the funny animal era and 2000s era), cooking, horror movies, folklore, cryptids, musicals, storytelling, worldbuilding, history, psychology, archaeology, zoology, etymology and space!
》 WHAT MEDIA DO YOU LIKE?
I like a lot of different media and the ones I actively choose to engage with fluctuates pretty frequently, but currently the ones of note are... Pokémon, Warriors, Watership Down, Animal Crossing, The Lion King, Ginga Nagareboshi Gin, Beastars, The Legend of Zelda, Bugsnax, Banjo Kazooie, Viva Pinata, Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, Sonic The Hedgehog, Zero Escape, Ace Attorney, Another Code, Welcome To Nightvale, Little Shop Of Horrors, Ride The Cyclone, Starkid, Be More Chill, Heathers, Cats, Waitress, In The Heights, Silent Hill, Resident Evil, A Nightmare On Elm Street, Child's Play, The Gregory Horror Show, The Owl House, Steven Universe, Portal, Half Life, TF2, HLVRAI, What We Do In The Shadows, Our Flag Means Death, Interview With The Vampire, Doctor Who, Red Dwarf, Scott Pilgrim, Sam And Max, The Good Place, Gravity Falls, My Little Pony, Night In The Woods, Slay The Princess, Dragon Age, Fable and Good Omens! Hyperfixations are bolded, because like it or not I am autistic and that does affect which of these wretched things will get a stranglehold on my attention at any given time 👍
》 YOU'RE QUEER? WHAT ARE YOUR LABELS?
I'm a gender non-conforming trans man. I go by he/him and it/its pronouns and I mostly use masculine terms (man, dude, guy, etc.) or non-gendered ambiguous terms (thing, mutt, dog, etc.) to refer to myself. That said, all this does vary whenever I feel like it and I've got no intentions of trying to mirror cis men. I see myself as a man in the same way Bugs Bunny is a man, masculine in theory but pretty malleable in practice. A man but tilted a bit too much to the left so it doesn't quite fit on the "pallatable for cis people" gender shelf.
My gender is pretty intertwined with my non-human identity; All genders feel like a costume but ambiguously fruity man is the most comfortable one for me personally. I'm a vaguely man-shaped dog thing that's just trying to resemble a person above all else, if we're being entirely honest here.
I use the labels pansexual and queer pretty interchangeably. Gender doesn't really play a part in who I'm attracted to, it's pretty irrelevant and just kind of a neat bonus more than anything. That said? Overall I'm predominantly attracted to other queer people! I do class myself as acchillean because of my attraction to other men but in a non-committal handwave kind of way, considering how weird my relationship with my own gender currently is.
I consider myself as polyamorous. I can comfortably exist in both monogamous and polyamorous relationships but between the two? Up to now I've found the latter is my preference.
Also, I know I don't owe anyone an explanation about my identity. I'm talking about this because I'd like to (queer expression is fun to talk about yippeeee) and not because I feel obligated to. People aren't owed your life story, especially people on the internet ✌️
》 DO YOU HAVE A BYF / DNI?
No, I don't have a DNI. I've come to realise that the culture surrounding DNI lists in online spaces isn't healthy and I'd far rather just curate my own spaces however I feel like it! Not that I wasn't doing that before now but given that? A DNI feels like an unnecessary step that just serves to perpetuate that culture which I don't want to do. The block button exists to be used, I block people wherever I need to for the sake of my own comfort and I recommend you do the same 🤷 That said: I'm a queer neurodivergent leftist. So I have the exact kind of opinions you'd probably expect with those descriptors in mind. All good faith identities are valid, any kind of queer exclusion is bad, bigotry towards any marginalised group is bad. Fascism and capitalism are both poison, cringe culture is dead, do what you want forever so long as it's not hurting anything or anyone and everyone deserves kindness unless they themselves don't show it. Truly some never before heard takes here on Tumblr dot com.
》 WHAT ABOUT A TAGLIST?
Not yet, but I'm slowly working on it. In the meantime? Here's what you mainly need to know. You can find my talking and general shitposts under solar talks, or my art under dog draws. I do have content warning tags! I try to be conscientious and tag anything that I know is a common trigger for people (blood, gore, bones, bright colours, insects, etc) as and where I can. I format all of my content warning tags as "cw //" and then whatever the content of the post is that needs tagged. So for example, if you don't want to see insects? You can blacklist them on my blog using cw // insects and that should stop you from seeing anything with a number of legs you aren't comfortable with. This same format applies to all of my content warning tags. If there's anything more specific you need tagged? Don't be afraid to let me know. I'm happy to accommodate you wherever you need so long as it doesn't infringe upon my right to exist; If it's something that triggers you? Then it warrants being taken seriously.
》 WHO'S THE GUY IN YOUR ICON?
That would be my fursona, Circuit! He is me, I am him, I love showing him off to people so although the art may change? He's usually the face of my online pressence. Here's his current (slightly outdated, whoops) reference sheet that I made for him:
If you're curious, the art of him I have as my Tumblr icon currently (as of February 4th 2024) was a commission I got and is drawn by Pawtastic!
》 WOW, YOU TALK A LOT.
Sure do bud. Thank you for noticing! Want to hear me talk more? I think Ginga and Helluva Boss both have the Same Problem within the way they tend to portray their own Female Characters.
Ginga is more carved into Ancient World Wars especially on how accurate you think Japanese Folktales might be about Honorable Soldiers and Damsels in Distresses (at least that's one accurate thing that the franchise tends to follow through, even if it may not be sexist sometimes)
But Helluva Boss is absolutely a Wattpad Gay fanfic that flushed all the potential down for a Comedy Show where the Females are supposed to make the Males superior.
Now listen ☝️😤
I know you’re technically right, but Ginga is just so goofy and fun (GNG and certain parts of the other mangas, TLW onward can burn) that I can’t help but enjoy it 😤
And Yoshihiro Takahashi is at least honest and upfront with his ideals of men protecting women (not that it stops us in the fandom from making tough female ocs anyway, gotta get back to my fanfic 😭). Vivzie and folks like her say they’re #Woke and progressive but ironically pull the same thing because they obsess over (gay) men and don’t give a crap about women even in a “they need to be protected by stronger men” sense. But that’s getting a little psychoanalytical and I’m no psychologist 😩

3 years ago, Tokyo.
???: …Why did you do it?
???: Kei…
☆ ━━━━━━━ ∘◦♬◦∘ ━━━━━━━ ☆
Seiji: I got you coffee, Kirigaya.
Akira: Thanks. Wait, huh? There’s no milk in this. Did we run out?
Seiji: We do have unopened cartons of milk on one of the shelves.
Tomoharu: Hello.
Akira: Yo.
Seiji: Great timing. I’ve just made a pot of coffee.
Sakuya: I see you’ve made yourself at home.
Tomoharu: That smells awesome. Guess I’ll have a cup too,
Tomoharu: It really feels like the Starlight Orchestra has expanded now that they’re here with us in The Magnolia. Don't you think so, Senpai?
Sakuya: I still feel a little bad for bothering them, considering how they have to come here to practice all the way from Mito.
Akira: Hm? Just how rural are you mistakin’ Mito for? This place’s just a train ride away.
Akira: Plus, we got rooms in Seiso Academy’s dorms, so we can stay over if needed.
Sakuya: Huh? Since when?
Seiji: Shinomori-sensei helped us make the arrangements. All of you live in the dorms too, right? So we're all in the same boat now.
⊳ Choice: We’ll all be in each other's care from now on!
Akira: Haha, no need to be so formal. We’re all friends here.
⊳ Choice: I look forward to our time together!
Seiji: Are you sure you want to be saying that? If you truly mean it, then I suppose there are a lot of things to look forward to.
Ginga: G’morning.
Hayate: Oh? Good morning, Osakabe-san, Kirigaya-san!
Hayate: Everyone here? Good.
Hayate: I was just about to ask him about the briefing session.
Hayate: Apparently, there's to be a briefing session regarding the International Concours’ qualification round sometime soon. Needless to say, we're going to be in attendance.
Kazuma: Orchestras who are gunning for the International Concours will gather.
Kazuma: As such, Orchestras from all over the country will be in attendance. Including the Joetsu Student Symphony Orchestra, and the Takamatsu Philharmonic Orchestra.
Tomoharu: Wow, sounds like some pretty big-named Orchestras are going to be there. I wonder if we get to hear them perform live?
Sakuya: Why are you so laid-back about this? Those are some pretty famous Orchestras we're going to be compared to, you know…
Kazuma: The briefing session will be held at Kakyo Academy, home to the Glanz Symphony Orchestra, last year's Japan representative.
Sakuya: It's going to be held in Kakyo Academy…? But I heard that it's usually held in one of Tokyo's halls, no?
Ginga: A huge school like that is bound to have a hall, don't you think? Two birds, one stone.
Ginga: Kakyo Academy is located in Nakameguro, right? That's just a train ride away.
Tomoharu: And there is a lot of good food around the area.
Tomoharu: Italian, French, and even Chinese cuisine… Not to mention the variety of selections including yakiniku and sushi… They've got all the popular stores there! What would you like to eat, senpai?
Akira: We get to eat good food and go up against strong people all in one day? Sounds like plenty of fun to me.
Seiji: I'll have to agree. However, isn't that day a weekday?
Akira: Can't you just take a day off from school?
Seiji: Dear me, I thought those words were only reserved for those who've clocked in enough attendance to spare.
Akira: Come again? Are you bein’ serious?
Seiji: Sorry, Concertmistress. It is unfortunate, but the two of us will have to abstain, or else this guy here might have to repeat a grade.
⊳ Choice: I gotchu
Seiji: That's reassuring.
⊳ Choice: Now, that's just unfortunate…
Akira: I know, right… I wanted to see what the guy who cinched the top looked like. Akira: Welp, looks like I'm stuck here. I'm lookin’ forward to hearin’ your stories about the trip. Do share with me how it goes, Concertmistress.
☆ ━━━━━━━ ∘◦♬◦∘ ━━━━━━━ ☆
Nono: Hmm, the International Concours is finally starting! How exciting!
Nono: Many of the professional Orchestras in Tokyo are going to be there, not to mention the wide array of violin workshops in the area…
Nono: It’ll be a brilliant learning experience, I’m sure~ Sounds fun, doesn’t it, Concertmistress?

What about capoeira?
I'm asking because you posted earlier and elsewhere, that you wished to talk about it. I believe you wanted to unload your infinite wisdom on this subject matter on someone.
Well, here I am. Fire away.
Thanks for asking! :3
On that post I already talked more on the history of Capoeira so I’ll tell you more about the art itself!
The base of Capoeira is de ginga. A side to side motion which looks like this:
You always have one arm up to project your head. The ginga follows the rhythm of the music. From the ginga you can do your moves. A lot of these are kicks. Kicks are very important in Capoeira and you can throw many different kicks from a lot of different places. A lot of kicks are very flashy but Capoeira also has very direct kicks. A lot of Capoeiras kicks are common kicks in many martial arts like the front kick or roundhouse. Most kicks are aimed at the head so there is a lot of evading and ducking under kicks though kicks to the body do also happen.
Capoeira follows a rhythm while playing but a big part is also breaking the rhythm to surprise the other person. The speed of the game also depends on the music that is being played. Besides just evading there are a lot of counter attacks where you dodge and counter at the same time or right after each other. This includes things like take downs and sweeps but you can also move in to sorta jam their move. You also learn how to counter some takedowns. Also really fun is kicks from a ground position where people don’t often expect it. They can help you get up while also either giving you space or hitting someone with a really powerful kick (tho when they don’t get away in time you usually make sure you don’t actually hurt them). You can follow pretty much anything up with more kicks or other moves using the momentum from before and because with good footwork you are almost always in a position where you can launch another kick from. That it you can go back to the ginga before doing your next thing.
Also really important to Capoeira is the acrobatic side. This is also super fun! Capoeira has many sides and can be very aggressive. At these times you don’t want to do much if any fancy acrobatic stuff and you gotta be more careful. But in most games (at least in my personal experience) there is plenty of room for acrobatic things if you know the right moments for it. Some games is mostly acrobatics which is also very fun and you can show of some of your fancy tricks however you do always need to be careful and keep an eye on the other person.
There is a lot more to it but this is enough rambling for now :3 I wish I could show things while explaining but that is a little difficult when not explaining irl. Hope you found je rambling interesting tho but regardless I enjoyed talking about it :3

Doji vs Ziggurat: Beyblade Characters Comparison
"I see now. You're the same as that piece of trash, Doji." "Oh no, don't put me together with that Doji [...]"
Ryuga and Dr. Ziggurat in "The Plot Thickens."
Hello, MFB fandom. I wanted to talk about the most terrible adults in the Beyblade Metal Saga ever produced: Doji (Daidoji in the Japanese dub) and Ziggurat. The quotes I just cited are characteristic of how, in the show, characters like Ryuga and Ginga tend to see them as the same (people in real life tend to do that as well). However, despite some common points, they are much more different than they seem.
Same Way, Different Goals
The reason why they're often said to be the same is because of one major thing: the way they achieve their goals. To do that, they abuse the power of Beyblade and also children. Doji gives the Dark Nebula (DN) Bladers as a sacrifice to L-Drago despite their loyalty, as pointed out by Ryutarou. Ziggurat uses the students of HD Academy as test subjects, not only the members of team StarBreaker (SB). Of course, the amount of trauma and abuse they inflict is more complex than that, but it can give you an idea that they don't seem to care about the innocence and vulnerability of children. Ziggurat, in particular, seems to despise children for the former.
One thing that can be said is that they have very different end goals and visions. Doji wants to dominate the Beyblade world and the world in general through Ryuga. This fits particularly well with his character since he always used someone with more power than him to get what he wants: he is like a wolf that can survive without its pack. Doji's idea is not really original; with Ryuga's first appearance in episode 13 and his following fight with Ginga, we directly understood what he wants to do: use the dark and evil artifact to steal everyone's power and use this to rule the world. Ziggurat's worldview is more subtle; he says he wants to use Beyblade in order to take control of pre-existing institutions like governments. He is a CEO after all, who just wants to further increase his wealth and control over society. The spiral force he created (assuming everything went according to plan) could have changed the world forever, a world he could have controlled. Of course, those plans weren't safe at all. Doji had no way of containing Ryuga, and we all know what happened in the end. Faust was obedient as long as he was ordered to make Tempo spin. But imagine if they needed him to stop making the energy for maintenance (because buildings and nuclear reactors need that sometimes)...
The Scales and the Compass
To highlight better their capacity, we can see a little interaction they have. For Ziggurat, he has the most interaction with Zeo, who will defeat him in the end. For Doji, it would be Ryuga, but he was way too formal with him; in a way, he was closer to Yu Tendo. What is more interesting is that Yu and Zeo have parallels between them or rather they mirror each other. Yu is a prodigy, Zeo is not. Yu joined DN for fun and to be with his new friend Ryuga, Zeo joined HD Academy out of desperation for his oldest friend Toby. Yu seemingly had a nice relationship with Doji and in Masters, grew closer to Masamune. Zeo has a terrible working relationship with Ziggurat, and his friendship with Masamune was torpedoed during the SB arc. Kid Zeo looks similar to Yu, and Flame Libra and Byxis both represent objects. You could argue I'm off-topic, but Yu and Zeo are the best characters to understand the psychology of Doji and Ziggurat.
Doji gave various things to Yu, and he rarely gives something to people except false promises and punishment. Yu got an enviable position in DN, along with a room full of toys, the right to recruit and command other DN Bladers, and spend time with Doji. They even share an evil laugh together. And it appears Doji's behavior was beginning to influence Yu. Kenta even thought that they were friends. In reality, they were not. Doji is just a wolf in sheep's clothing. With every character, he acts nice and polite (it's especially true in the Japanese dub) but it is just a facade he made in order to deceive people. At the moment Yu stepped out of line, he changed his attitude. Look at his face right after Ginga and Yu's shake hands.
He threw the poor kid right into Reiji's fang, even though Yu opened his heart to him by telling him how he felt about Beyblade. He understood that his corruption of Yu was eventually going to wear off. He did not even "offer Yu" to Ryuga; no, he was just being petty.. For him, it was as if Ginga had stolen one of his best toys, and so Yu had to be disposed of in the cruelest way possible. To me, their relationship was the most sinister in the whole show because it reflects something real: people pretending to be what they aren't to trap teens/children.
Ziggurat took advantage of Zeo. The way he appeared on a rainy day close to a road is for me reminiscent of the Devil. In fact, he could be inspired by the biblical devil. His Bey represents Capricorn, a goat who was commonly associated with the devil. He leads Hades Inc., has a child named Damian at his service (like the antichrist of The Omen movie), and most importantly of all, he makes contracts and deals. He made a deal with Zeo: "Do my experiment and I will cure your friends." In a way, he did; he cured Toby. Zeo even got stronger, participated in the World Championship, and got a new shiny Bey. But like a contract with the devil, it's all fake: Toby became someone else, Zeo didn't really bond with Flame Byxis, he became crazy because of a painful process that worked half the time for him... Unlike Doji, Ziggurat seemingly gives a lot to those who work with him, but he takes more in return. Ziggurat doesn't hide this; he was even proud of what he did to Toby. He also doesn't shy away from putting down Zeo and even taunted Ryuga about his loss of control to the dark power. And that's because, unlike Doji, he has something for himself. Doji needs other people to get what he wants, Ziggurat has money and his intellect; he can choose who he is working with. That is why Doji recruits Tetsuya; even if he loses, he can still use him to make L-Drago stronger. The doctor recruited only powerful Bladers he could control (blackmail for Julian and money for the Garcias) and threat them and Zeo as pawn.
In the end, these men work very differently with very different objectives. Doji is a power-hungry man who lives only for power and himself. He uses others to gain as much as possible, and if they are not enough, he squeezes the (orange) juice out of them. Ziggurat is an evil scientist and billionaire seeking to enrich himself and gain more influence. Both were corrupted by the power of Bey, and no wonder they were part of the Hades cult.

I've been reading your various theories/analysis on the Nightmare Wizard and I was impressed what you came up with, given how HAL has given us virtually nothing on Mr. chin man.
It's a somewhat popular headcanon that Meta Knight was created by or at the very least connected to Nightmare, but this came from evidence in the anime canon. I was wondering what are your thoughts on this theory based on game lore?
Hrgh! I LOVE Nightmare! I have so much fun writing him and speculating on him! I mean, whether he's an actual physical, incarnation of the concept of bad dreams or just a once-upon-a-time power hungry Wizard who decided to name himself after the concept... that's so cool?!? It doesn't even bother me that he gets jobbed all the time. It's the POTENTIAL!!
I love his VA, Banjo Ginga, too. This wizard might have a chin the length of a galaxy but he's got a VOICE to back it up!
Now, you said game lore, but I'm going to go ahead and talk HC because, like you said, we know almost nothing canonical about Mr Chin Man, but the chance of a Halcandra connection seems GOOD at least. (Actually, even better now with a parallel version of him showing up in the same game with the Gem Apple Tree?)
So, I strongly HC him as being responsible for Marx (in several ways) but anime-originating or no, I think making him Meta's creator/corruptor is a fun little theory.
It's common to assume Kirby's species just gains wings as a matter of fact (I'm undecided, despite the fact that we have three winged... err, four if you count Zero Two - then again, those are apparently veins?? // why did this never click for me despite the fact that they show it in the END CREDITS?! // so maybe three - members of the "species") but if you start the whole line at Galacta, as a progenitor being or even god, with their unsullied angel wings, there is something "monstrous" about Meta Knight's devil/bat wings. He LOOKS like the "evil clone" despite being more the hero on every level.
(...Once we forget the military coup. Silly tangent, but I saw someone on Twitter make a joke about Elfilis and the Beast Pack forcing the captured Waddle Dees to work the generators and how cruel that's portrayed, when Meta Knight's own ship uses Wheelies for the same purpose! ...Of course, maybe that's just exercise for Wheelies? We don't know if it was mean... necessarily...)
Speaking of Meta Knight and a questionable past, I was thinking the other day about DMK and Marx and since they're the last two of the "You jerks don't deserve to be Dream Friends!" trio - Magolor having proven himself a true friend and worthy ally after an extended trip through hell - and trying to think just what Dark Meta Knight and Marx could possibly have in common. (Outside of Salty French Bread canon (?) where they get along surprisingly well. Then again, everyone in that group is a secret maniac, except Adeleine) This is especially when I step back and remember that DMK is still BASED ON Meta Knight. Meta Knight's thoughts and feelings exist somewhere within Dark Meta Knight, they're just twisted. (And under what grounds would META KNIGHT ever have to get along with/sympathize with/feel camaraderie with Marx??)
.That's a long way to get around to saying I'm actually REALLY fond of Nightmare Knight (...is that a badass name or what?! Also love that his independent play modes are called "Meta Knightmare" Too bad that's a localization only thing, as it would be GREAT fort this theory...) as a splinter HC! I actually have a lot of room for this to fit in my personal/main HC too!
(:cough: since I liked to imagine Nightmare as a former Halcandran Geneticist, this would not even be hard for him, especially if he managed to get ahold of Galacta Knight's DNA. And my Nightmare, who absolutely has a twisted sense of "humor"...
"You COULD have given the Noddies arms, you know." "Ha! They're literally engineered to sleep all day! What possible use would they have for arms? Grabbing a pillow??" :later, Marx, trying and failing to grab a pillow: "...Grrrr...!!!"
...would absolutely see Meta Knight as a consummate warrior and thus, as the "cherry on top" program him with an insatiable lust for battle, "...just like his stabbity-happy genetic predecessor!" Something Meta Knight is constantly trying to combat w/ copious amounts of book reading and fancy sweets... :cough:)
You know, it would be kind of fun, too, if that played into the reason Meta acted so unusual in Adventure. He's on-board with Dedede's plan to stop Nightmare, but he also knows well enough that the stall won't STOP Nightmare and thus, he supports Kirby throughout the puff's adventure.
Or maybe Meta Knight was even fighting his genetic programming/monster nature during that campaign? (Does that happen in the anime, too? Generally decent critters who are monster-fied try to fight the evil inside??) The potential story ideas are endless!
I was told at one point that Marx pulling his MWW stunt out of hunger from the "Spring Breeze" famine was the only way to explain how his game fit in the "plot" of Super Star. But when I think about Nightmare reaching out his long claws to manipulate both Marx and Meta Knight (one last tangent: but Noddies are pink just like Kirby. Both Marx and Meta Night look like them but with a distinct blue(ish, in Marx's case) palette. And who else is those colors??) the fact that you unlock Milky Way Wishes after Revenge of Meta Knight (I lied/another tangent: What IS Meta Knight "revenging" anyway? His defeat? The one he basically engineered in Kirby's Adventure? Weird thing to get upset about...) could also give you a slightly different take on that "storyline." Maybe?
The only thing I DON'T like about this theory is it would potentially make Meta Knight realllllllly old. Centuries, even. And that doesn't matter so much if you throw out the concept of realistic human-esque aging in Kirby altogether (which I sometimes do, because I'd easily take "Kirby is hundreds of years old but STILL maintains a young, optimistic, innocent point of view" over "Kirby is an almighty battle toddler" - We don't know Kirby's actual age, but I've seen some numbers thrown out by fans, and the idea of non-chalantly sending a literal 6-10 year old to do the stuff Kirby puts up with in game makes me uneasy) but in a lot of cases, I think i prefer Meta Knight to be closer to a contemporary with the main gang?
Chalk me up as one of those people that thinks Meta Knight tries his hardest to act mature, to always be seen as the "smartest and the eldest" but is actually a big, huge dork on the inside. Like he decided he would have the role of "group adult" only because he wanted it, not because he did anything to earn it.
#Kirby#Meta Knight#Nightmare Wizard#Marx Kirby#Kirby series#long post#Dess remembers that Meta is my original favorite character#He's the knight who is 'good' because he understands 'bad'#And has to combat it in himself all the time#Let Meta Knight be fallible!#I have lots of thoughts on DMK too - based on Meta#I think DMK is wayyyyyyy more complex than people think#(And I don't buy that he was the instigator of TDX)#(That doesn't even make sense?)#(Like yeah - he was the one who emerged from the mirror)#(But the same goes for Amazing Mirror...#...and that was all Dark Mind!)#Nightmare Kirby#This was GOING to go up for Meta's Birthday...#...But I posted too dang much yesterday

Two big things:
They've decided to translate Arc's name as "Rution", while literally every other source has gone with "Lutian". Having it start with L seems to make more sense, tying it to "Lipiah" in Shin Ultraman.
This is is another "Tilsonite / Chilsonite" situation, where they've chosen to go for a more literal transliteration of the Japanese pronunciation, and not trying to go with a more "correct" pronunciation of the English word they seemed to be basing it on. "Spiral Burrade" for "Spiral Blade" will always annoy me.
Secondly, they've decided not to translate the recap episode at the end of the month. Now that's simply annoying. Yeah, it's only a recap episode, but it seems foolish to just tell your American audience that they're not getting an episode. It's like how Mill Creek chose not to translate Spark Doll Theater for Ginga, and other various little extras and special items they chose not to do.
