It’s Called Payback Sweetheart
Pairing: Lin x Reader
Request: “Thank you so much for your stories! I love them so much! Can I request another Lin one? Maybe involving jealousy? It doesn’t matter who is jealous. They can both be jealous even. Maybe Lin makes the reader jealous and she’s hurt, so she purposefully makes him jealous? Thanks!!” - @heatherdawn82
Word Count: 1.5k
I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.
Lin was having a party with the entire Hamilton cast. Lin and I were roommates and best friends so he had invited me too.
Lin and I had been best friends for a while and everyone always said we acted like a married couple. We were super affectionate and always hugging each other. I enjoyed it because I had noticed myself crushing on Lin recently. I thought that maybe Lin had feelings for me too, since we were always so touchy. It felt like our own special thing.
But, right across the room, Lin was sitting on the couch, with a girl named Chelsea sitting in his lap. They were talking and she would obnoxiously laugh at every joke he made. It was like she was bragging to the world about how Lin was flirting with her.
He told me that she was a friend from high school. He said she had moved to Europe and happened to be back in New York for a weekend, so he invited her.
All I knew was that she was a super pretty girl and Lin was being super affectionate toward her. I felt betrayed, I thought that it was our thing. I knew it made me beyond petty, but I just felt so hurt.
I figured that I would try and get him alone, and maybe try to spend some time with him, one on one. I mean, he was my best friend and I liked to hang out with him.
I walked over to them and tried to ignore the anger I felt boiling in the pit of my stomach. “Hey Lin” I said, smiling at him. “Oh hey Y/N, you’ve met Chelsea, right?” He asked me. “Oh..uh no I haven’t” I said. “Well, Y/N this is Chelsea, Chelsea this is Y/N, my roommate” he said, introducing us.
“Yeah, it’s uh...nice to meet you” she said, looking me up and down. “Yeah, you too” I said, putting on a fake smile. “So, Lin. I was wondering if I could talk to you about something real quick?” I said, changing the subject. “Oh, I’m sorry. I’m just getting caught up with Chelsea. We haven’t hung out in years. But I’ll find you later tonight, yeah?” He asked me.
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. “Oh yeah...uh okay” I said, hurt. “Bye” Chelsea said, with a mocking tone.
I walked away and was fighting back tears. First of all, she had been so rude to me and Lin just sat there and watched it happened. He was supposed to be my best friend, and best friends stand up for each other. Also, he had called me his roommate, which I guess is true. But he couldn’t of introduced me as his best friend? Roommate just sounded so distant, it didn’t imply a connection. However, best friend implied that we had a really strong bond.
I walked into the kitchen, where I knew no one was hanging out. I walked in and leaned against the counter. I felt absolutely pathetic. Here I was, hiding during a party, because a guy was making me jealous. I was better than this. I figured I would take this into my own hands.
I walked out of the kitchen and found Anthony. Lin had introduced us once, and we followed each other on Instagram.
“Hey Anthony” I said, smiling. “Oh what’s up Y/N? How’ve you been?” He asked me. “Well, I’ve been better. I need your help with something though, can you do me a favor?” I asked him. “Of course, what do you need?” He asked, kindly.
“So I may be feeling a tad bit jealous and petty. But I can’t stand to even look at Lin and that girl he’s with, I need to do something about it” I told him. “Oooo somebody’s got feelings for Lin. So you want to make him jealous, right?” He asked me, clarifying.
“Yeah, do you think you can help me?” I asked him. “Of course, I got you” he said, smiling.
Anthony grabbed my hand and pulled me over to a couch, that was on the opposite side of where Lin and Chelsea were. We both sat down next to each other, with barely any room between us. Then Anthony put his arm around my shoulder.
“Is he looking yet?” Anthony asked me, since he was turned to face me. “No, not yet” I told him. “Okay, guess we’ll have to get his attention then” Anthony said, mischievously. “Wait what are you-“ I started to ask, before I got interrupted. Anthony’s hand went to stomach and tickled me. I squirmed and pushed his hand away. “Anthony, stop it” I squealed.
“Did that get his attention?” He asked, smirking. “Yeah, he’s looking. Nice one Ramos” I complimented him. “Laugh like I just told you a really funny joke” he instructed me. I started to giggle and also started twirling my hair in my fingers.
I glanced over at Lin, and he was staring. Chelsea was talking to him, but he couldn’t even focus on her.
“He’s really watching now, pretend to whisper something in my ear” I told him, smiling. Anthony leaned in close to me and whispered “You know you owe me for this, right?”. I giggled to myself, which I figured went along with this fake narrative.
“Oh hold on, he’s coming over here” I whispered to Anthony, while trying to not look up at Lin. “So I walked right up to him and I told him that now he knew not to mess with me or my friends again” Anthony said, completely rambling and pretending like he had been telling me a story.
“So I see you’ve met Anthony” Lin said, and he looked furious. “Yeah, you introduced us. You didn’t tell me how funny he was though. He’s absolutely hilarious” I said, laying my hand on Anthony’s chest and slightly leaning in toward him.
“Oh really?” Lin said, while gritting his teeth. “Have you ever noticed how pretty she is, Lin?” Anthony asked, brushing a piece of my hair behind my ear. “Oh stop” I said, smirking to myself.
“Y/N, I need to talk to you” Lin said, grabbing my wrist and pulling me into the kitchen. “What the hell is the matter with you?” Lin asked me, slightly raising his voice. “What are you talking about? You’re the one who just dragged me in here, out of nowhere” I argued back.
“I’m talking about you and Anthony” Lin said, like it was the most obvious thing ever. “What about us?” I asked him, annoyed. “Why were you flirting with him?” Lin asked me, he sounded really angry.
“I’m sorry, are you my dad? You don’t get to tell me who to flirt with. I’m an adult and I can make my own decisions. Seriously, what is up with you?” I asked him. “I know you, this isn’t how you flirt. I’ve seen you flirt and it’s not like this. This is you trying to rub it in my face. You’re trying to get a reaction out of me, and you’re trying to make me angry. I don’t know what the hell I did to deserve it though” Lin said, angrily.
“Are you kidding? You can sit with Little Ms.Perfect in your lap all night and completely ignore your best friend, but I’m not allowed to flirt with a guy?” I asked him. “So this is about Chelsea? You’re jealous, aren’t you?” Lin asked.
“This isn’t just about being jealous. This is about you ignoring me so you can hang out with her. This is about her being rude to me and you not even standing up for me” I corrected him. “I told you that I would talk to you later” Lin told me. “Lin, you’ve been sitting with her for three hours. You haven’t talked to a single other person at this party” I told him.
“Well she’s visiting from England and I haven’t seen her in ages” Lin argued. “That doesn’t mean that you can make me feel ignored and unimportant” I told him. “You know that wasn’t my goal” he explained.
I couldn’t believe that he truly thought he did nothing wrong.
“You sat there as she looked me up and down and mocked me and you did nothing. You just sat there” I said, with hurt in my voice. “Y/N, I really didn’t notice that she did that. I would never want you to be hurt” he said, sincerely.
“You say one thing, but you’re actions say something completely different” I said, rolling my eyes.
Then Lin cupped my face suddenly, and leaned in to kiss me. I was shocked, it definitely wasn’t what I was expecting in the middle of an argument.
It truly felt like Lin was pouring all of his love into the kiss. I could feel the weight off my shoulders of finally having all my pent up emotions out in the open.
“I’m sorry that I got so upset about Anthony, I just got so jealous seeing you with him. Why would you do that to me? You knew it would make me jealous” Lin asked me, after we pulled away. “It’s called payback sweetheart” I said, smirking.

y'all OMG you gotta watch Vivo (2021)!!! It's awesome! The music and it has Lin Manuel Miranda! Like??? the songs?? and the kid is awesome too! it's so not stereotypical and it has it's predictable moments but it kinda rocks too.
its cheerful and has a couple different types of music and all of them are fucking amazing songs. it's the best musical animation i've seen after Soul. which is also amazing!
spoilers after the line
first of all, vivo. totally amazing character. like, it's not a talking monkey and only the audience (us) can understand him.
andres dying ... i did expect it but i was still sad awww
also, i didn't know what a kinkajou was until now lol but im stupid dont mind me
the music the music the music
the rap in the beginning and the edm pop stuff with gabi
also GABI!!! she's a total introvert and even though her mom forces her to go out and stuff, she literally remains unchanged until the end. true she goes out, but it's cause of her music and wow, that almost never happens
and the three kids actually fighting for nature!! they kept that organic and their anger towards gabi was more cause of their concern towards vivo and not like jealousy or petty bullying. it was just all so unique.
also the girl eating their own cookies was so relatable lol
there was no tragic backstory to anyone. except gabi's dad :( but most movies do this tragedy just for the shock factor but even andres death seemed seamless. kudos.
also the spoonbill romance was funny and sweet and not at all cheesy. it was just two awkward spoonbills searching for love and I LOVED IT!!!
and in the end marta performs it!! did you guys see the harmony between vivo and gabi! i just love when that happens, especially in music. it's such a simple song and all the more sweet because of it.
the rap and the pop and the mambo and its just the mix of tradition with modern society and even nature lol its so exotic and eclectic!!!

Ikevamp headcanons after watching Hamilton
Quick disclaimer: Yes I know this is a show about people who had owned slaves and slavery is bad. Having said that there's a reason why we suspend disbelief for a couple of hours and just allow ourselves to be swept into the story. I also love Phantom of the Opera but I also am aware that this is a story that involves an abusive and toxic relationship. The point is that I am aware that there are problems that needs to be discussed, but I still love the music, the story and the shows okay. This is just fan content not meant to be taken seriously and is just for fun. Okay? Now let's proceed.
I'll be doing Will and Arthur first since I'm currently doing Shakespeare's route and was inspired to do this after MC watches Romeo and Juliet with Vincent and I was wondering how Will would react to watching Hamilton. And Arthur is here because he is my husband/main lover. I might do Mozart and Napoleon next.
SPOILER ALERT: For anyone who hasn't seen the Disney Plus version of Hamilton, there might be some spoilers here (unless you already saw the show or know the story that is).
General Scenario:
You don't know how but Le Comte was able to get the filmed version of Hamilton, a musical which you've told Sebastian that you've been dying to see but was never able to because tickets were always sold out and entering the lottery was going to be a little too expensive for someone who lives in Japan and who doesn't exactly have the money or the time to simply fly to New York if in case she won. You were also excited because apparently Le Comte was able to modify the 21st century tech room that you use for your online classes and was able to get a wide screen and high quality surround sound which made you appreciate his efforts. A part of you was also curious as to how the other residents would react. You were scared that some of them might take offense, especially Napoleon who knew one of the characters in the show in real life. Would they react weirdly for seeing people different from them portray people that they knew? You were also wondering if they might even appreciate some of the 21st century slang that you and Sebastian would sometimes slip back into whenever it was just the two of you alone. After talking it out with everyone and explaining a few more things (like how its probably going to be different since it is a series of captured pictures-or at least that's your closest analogy- being played super fast with the synchronized sound of the actors- or what you were almost tempted to call "Techno Magic") during a dinner in which Shakespeare had decided to be present in, they were actually interested in what this show is about. Napoleon convinced you that he's fine and actually someone else playing Lafayette might even help with the suspension of disbelief since its been awhile since he has last met him anyway. Will even mentioned that while he has read and heard about stories from America, this is probably going to be the first story or production he's going to see from it. The only one who showed any hesitation - to no one's surprise - was Mozart, since he is attached to the kind of music he is familiar with (aren't we all?). But after prodding from both Jean, Le Comte and you giving him the puppy eyes, he finally relents. The day comes when everyone was once again free and for practicality everyone decided to have a meal first so that they won't be hungry during the show and also for you, Le Comte, and Sebastian to explain a few things everyone else may need to know to truly appreciate the show (like how the Presidential system and elections worked during the setting, what the word "Rewind" means, what is beatboxing, etc). So finally everyone gathered into the tech room after the meal, the lights were dimmed and once everyone was settled, you hit play. And as self-predicted of you, you find yourself crying in the end.
William Shakespeare (I'm still doing his route so please don't hate me if I get him wrong. Also no spoilers please).
- He was a bit shocked at first by how exactly up close you could see the facial expressions of the actors as well as the various ways it would cut to another person. He could now understand why you struggled with trying to explain how its played in a theatre but not exactly like the theatrical experience. But as you saw in your periphery, by the time Philippa Soo sings her first line, Will had already adjusted and allowed himself to be an audience and shut off his director and actor mindset (for the most part at least).
- While he didn't specialize in musicals, he found himself paying attention to the story of "the ten dollar founding father without a father." He knows how music could help both the actors and the audience in succumbing to their emotions in a scene and to suspend disbelief from reality. In his productions the words are not overwhelmed by any score but rather complemented to bring out the emotion he wants to evoke and for actors to show. Since many parts of the show has been influenced by the spoken word style without completely removing it from being sung, he has become enlightened with how powerful a show can be when it is done right.
- He not only enjoyed the story (especially the flow of it) and the production (especially some of the more technical details that the other residents hadn't noticed as far as a stage production is concerned), he loved that even the ensemble members had good acting and some of the onstage humor. One of the meta things he enjoyed was the obvious reference to his most superstitious work.
- Once you've seen how he loves analyzing the technical details of the production, you excitedly tell him about a special member of the ensemble who is known as "The bullet" among fans of the show. You could see him being enlightened as he watches the show with you again (this time with just the two of you) and he now sees "the bullet" and the way she interacts with the characters in a whole different light. He was so impressed with this idea that he may have adapted it into one of his new original plays (its not a copy paste of Hamilton's "bullet" but he definitely adapted assigning a member of the ensemble to have a special role that may not be significant at first, but he heavily notes that this member would have to be unique in interacting with any of the other characters).
- He didn't know what to expect from a 21st Century production but he found himself impressed with the prose and writing of various raps and songs. His favorite from Act 1 in terms of rhyme schemes was "Right Hand Man" and from Act 2 it was Jefferson's rap in "Washington by your side". And after settling down a bit his favorite emotional parts were "History has its eyes on you", "Hurricane", and "It's quiet uptown".
- He was impressed with how the double roles was given and how it actually is true for both of their roles in both acts. Ambiguity is one of his favorite things to have in a work, and he gives props to Lin for all the ambiguity he later realizes was in several parts of the show. If he and Arthur had been a little bit more closer, they probably would have bonded over the ambiguity Hamilton's comma in his letter to Angelica (see kids, grammar matters).
- A part of his brain wonders how the real life Hamilton would react to this and if him and Burr would still be enemies. But after some thinking he decides its not worth his efforts of asking anyone to bring them back since a wonderful production of their life has already been made even if it may not necessarily reflect who they truly are. He of all people knew what it's like to be inspired by great figures, it was fortunate that Lin Manuel Miranda decided to make a show about them before he had the chance to.
- You explain that in America Hamilton is one of the lesser known founding fathers of their nation and how it may be because his political opponents later on became Presidents and therefore was able to form the narrative. He becomes inspired by it and begins to search out people or stories who are hidden gems who may not be historically famous but had much more interesting stories than some of the ones he has heard of.
- Afterwards once you are sure that he has gotten comfortable enough with the genre you show him various videos of people rapping to his works and his reactions range from impressed to amused to "that's not what I mean when I wrote that" and you had to calm him down and explain that they can't hear him anyway after he started giving serious critiques on what the text means.
Arthur Conan Doyle
- While he was knowledgeable about many things, America's founding fathers was not one of them. He along with the other residents have gotten used to any rumors or exaggerated accounts of their lives and you and Sebastian have already warned that this is just a fictionalized production of the real person. As a writer of some historical fiction books he argued that he of all people was aware that any work based on history will speak more about the creators rather than the actual people they are writing about most of the time. He was nevertheless interested as to why you have become fascinated with the treasury secretary (and maybe it was with a twinge of jealousy that you began to expressly show admiration to another man even if he wasn't among the residents in the mansion). After all unlike many other residents of the mansion, on the surface it seemed that Hamilton was similar to Theo who mainly played a supporting but crucial role to his brother. He was thankful that you didn't hold it against him and was comforted that you were in a similar place. You even told him that the only thing you really knew about Hamilton before listening to the soundtrack and watching "Animatics" was that he was in the ten dollar American bill.
- And as someone who has delved into writing historical fictions, this was probably one of the most entertaining productions about a historical figure he has seen. He's going to be honest with you in that at first he was wondering if revealing Burr shot Hamilton in the opening was going to hinder him from enjoying the show; but he was pleasantly surprised that this was not the case at all. As a matter of fact it now made him want to find out who the real Hamilton was (although a part of him doubts if the real Hamilton had any regrets at all). According to him, this is why as a fictionalized historical work, the show is a success because it makes you want to find out more about the events and figures of the story (even if it means looking at darker realities that they did). And while the real Hamilton may be a lot different from what was shown, with all the things he went through and all the things he has done (for better or worse), he now wonders why exactly Le Comte hadn't approached him since he seems to be no better or worse than the average resident ("He and Newt could probably discuss mathematics all day."). You then explained that his political rivals (Jefferson and Madison from the show, and Monroe who wasn't shown in the musical) had later on become Presidents and was able to shape the narrative away from Hamilton. "Ron Chernow made Hamilton's biography because he was the lesser known founding father who was fading into obscurity among Americans and Lin read the book and recognized the story of someone who has risen through his writings. And to Lin that was also the story of hiphop." While he wasn't involved in politics as much as Hamilton was, Arthur had enough experience to know what it feels like to have those kinds of people in power. He also knows just how powerful it is to be in "the room where it happened" and how sometimes the real decisions weren't being made in an office but rather in either a private party or the right bar when people in power had their guard down and were more susceptible to being influenced.
- He could relate a lot with Hamilton on many things that he's only comfortable allowing either you or Theo to see. From being just so much more aware of death's inevitability coming for every living thing to survivor's guilt even though a part of him knows its irrational (but sometimes the emotional nonsense just overtakes our perspectives and actions). It's why he could understand Hamilton's need to write as much as he can before he dies. It's why for a time in his human life he had deviated from writing about Holmes and ventured into other genres. He could also relate to the need to prove what type of person he was, and how to go beyond his tragedies to serve people in their own ways. Hamilton did it as a soldier and the creator of America's financial system. And he is doing it as an informally practicing doctor and as a writer. It's a need that he's trying to mitigate since you've repeatedly told him that he doesn't need to prove anything to you or to anyone and to write whatever he pleases. But he also can't deny that it's still somewhere lodged in the back of his head.
- Just like William Shakespeare, in terms of the wordplay found in rap and the ambiguity present in the show and how those things were executed made him amazed and momentarily speechless. He was especially fanboying about "The comma after dearest" and how this essentially shows how important grammar was. It went to the extent that afterwards whenever he would write to you he would address you either as "My dearest, Y/N" or "My darling, Y/N" with special emphasis on the comma (sometimes you could see how there's more ink in the comma than some of the actual words. That's how much he wants to emphasize that you hold the title of dearest or darling). And you excitedly share with him some of the trivia knowledge of the show (like how in real life it was Angelica who originally made the comma mistake by writing to Hamilton as "My dear, sir" in one of her letters and it was Hamilton who was asking her what the comma means and even replied with "Ma chere, soeur") and how Angelica really did reference the Icarus metaphor in one of her letters to Eliza. And even though he wasn't a major musical nerd (he sang for fun), he would now join you in watching Howard Ho's Hamilton videos musically analyzing Hamilton (and would probably try to find a way to use this knowledge to annoy Mozart in some way).
- Speaking of music: Maybe it's because he's biased in his love for you but aside from Sebastian he's probably the one who has no qualms about the hiphop genre and was immediately into the various wordplays that rapping allowed. And because of this his favorite characters in terms of rapping are the ones played by Daveed Diggs (probably more than Hamilton himself even though you've explained that Lin is the one who wrote the whole thing). He even adapts to how Daveed as Jefferson would say Isaac's third law and incorporated it into his "let's tease Newton" kit. That's when you know he really loves Daveed Diggs ("Every action has an equal opposite -" "WILL YOU PLEASE STOP SAYING IT THAT WAY?! I didn't mind the first few times but this is ridiculous Arthur" "It must be nice, it must be nice to have a Newton on your side"). And his favorite character emotionally was Angelica (her raps in Schuyler Sisters and Satisfied may have helped).
- Speaking of the Schuyler Sisters, after watching it with you another time (this time with just the two of you) one of his favorite things to say is that you've got the best of all three sisters within you (Angelica's wittiness and intelligence, Eliza's cares for the more important things in life, and Peggy's humor) with the sexiness of Maria Reynolds. But because he sees all 4 of them in you he has the benefit of not needing to choose among them. Having said that there will be a period wherein he teases you if he makes you "Helpless" or "Satisfied" (and you respond either by kissing him or singing "That would be enough").
- Whenever you would sing as one of the Schuyler sisters he will join you as any of the male characters the moment he masters the soundtrack and could even sing it without the music. His favorite rap songs are "Guns and Ships", "Washington on your side", and of course "Satisfied". He also really loves "Non-stop", "the 10 duel commandments", and "The room where it happened". But his favorite sequence is from "the Winter's Ball" all the way to "Wait for it". Since it has romance, a shocking revelation, and gives insight to the perspective of the antagonist. He's also one of the first people to attempt to learn the choreography whenever he's in one of his mental blocks in writing. Of course he makes sure not to injure himself.
- He posts song lyrics to keep himself motivated in his times of mental block "There's a million things I haven't done. But just you wait" and "I'm not throwing away my shot" frequently appear around his desk.
-And whenever he's feeling low or insecure, just like Eliza you remind him to "Look around, Look around, how lucky we are to be alive right now."

let me love you (jefferson x reader x alex)
request : modern au??? angsty stuff !?? ooH basically ur eliza and Alex cheats on u and then u get pissed & break up w him and then go hook up w Jefferson to piss him off but then that becomes a thing and now Alex regrets everything (-anon)
warning : slight smut , angst, cussin, alex cheated so
a/n : wooo writers block send me more requests. also its not v anon i know who sent this bc she kept on texting me to do it.
“alex? what the fuck is this?” you choked, throwing your phone at him. Maria had texted you. is this y/n? im so sorry that i had to let you know this way. i just found out you are with alexander… we have been hooking up for about two months. im so so sorry he told me he was single.
alex’s face dropped as he read the text. “babe you cant believe this theres no way she’s telling the truth.” he said.
“you don’t get to call me babe. continue reading it.” you said, voice cold. i know you may not believe him, but the last time we met i gave him a hickey below his right collarbone. please, i don’t want you to find out in any other way. im really sorry y/n. im breaking this thing off with him.
“is it true?” you asked, a tinge of hope in his voice. “lift down your shirt.”
“you cant believe this- you cant-” he didn’t lift down his shirt, but kept repeating the same line.
“alex, just, your shirt” you started to choke on your own tears at his reluctance. you already knew it was true. you were just holding onto this last piece of evidence, hoping and willing with all your heart that it wasn’t true.
“babe please don’t do this. baby. babygirl-”
“SHUT UP” you yelled, ripping his shirt down. there, was a healing hickey, couldn’t have been more then a week old. you only came back three days ago. you couldnt have done this.
“alex? why? am i not enough?” you collapsed to the floor. alex reached out to touch your arm, flinching as you jerked away.
“do not touch me. you are disgusting. get away from me. we are done” you spit at him, seething. he ran out of the apartment. you knew he would come back. you just needed to leave. you cleaned out everything that was yours, putting it into a few boxes and calling angelica. you told her what happened, and she drove her pickup truck to the apartment. you loaded the boxes into her car, and drove to her house. it was there when all your emotions reached you. you were going to act. then it came to you how.
this was a bad idea. what if he had a girlfriend? then you’d be just as bad as alexander. you couldn’t call him alex anymore. he lost that privilege. what if he was with someone at the moment? what if he didn’t actually want you? what if it was just something to piss alexendar off? all these questions flew out of your mind when he opened the door, his signature smirk dropping.
“y/n- what- what are you doing here?” he ran his hand through his hair and regained his composure.
“shut up” “finally realized that hamilton was-” he was cut off by your lips. you, the ex girlfriend of alexander hamilton, were making out with thomas jefferson. this would surely fuck alexander up. thomas wasted no time in kissing you back. you were pushed to the wall inside his house, jumping up and wrapping your legs around his shirtless waist. it wasn’t very long before you were both naked, mindlessly fucking all of your anger and sexual tension out.
“fuck fuck fuck Y/N” daveed yelled as he came for the last time, then collapsing next to you.
“you wanna explain to me why youre not with your boyfriend-” “hes not my boyfriend” you muttered, wiping any tears away before they could stream down your face.  “what did he do?” thomas said, concern lacing his voice.
“hes a dick.”
“i agree” “he cheated on me”
“ooh. so you decided to act out with his worst enemy? smart. thats a dick move.” he laughed.
“thats why i did it” you chuckled. wow. you had never realized how hot thomas was before. all you had seen was a cocky arrogant asshole who kept trying to undermine alexander’s achievements. now you saw them both in a new light. this was just- holy shit. he was practically glowing.
“are we gonna do this again?” he smirked.
“oh most definitely”
alex, at the very least, pissed off. he fucked up, and he fucked up so much that you thought that Jefferson was a better option than him. he saw the posts on instagram and Twitter. you had unfollowed him but hadn’t unfollowed you. god, he had fucked up. with every post you two went from close friends to in love. every trace of him was taking out your life. and god that hurt. when he had finally come home to apologize, you were gone. every part of you was gone. you had forgotten one thing- his hoodie you had claimed as your own. it still smelled like you. he brought it up to his nose and started to cry again. the latest post on instgram. that’s when it was enough. you moved in with Jefferson. he grabbed his keys and drove to jefferson’s. this was too much. was this to spite him? he could handle that, that meant you still cared about him. but if you did it for yourself, that was just. you had given up on him. he was so stupid. it was supposed to be a one time thing but he missed you so much that he needed to replace you. “jesus” he muttered. he could see you through jeffersons window. you were so… happy? he had never seen you like this, at least not in a while. it made him smile, but then he realized why you were smiling. and that broke his heart. he walked up to the door and rang the doorbell, his heart started to beat against his chest. “oh.” was all you could get out. “hey ba- y/n” he stuttered out. “hamilton.” was all you could manage. your eyes glimmered for a second. “I’m sorry.” was all Alex said. you ran into his arms, hugging him and crying against his sweater. Thomas watched from the stairs. he knew he was just a distraction. but damn did it hurt. because through all his facade, he really did care about you. his heart fell as Alex rubbed his thumbs against your ears. but as Alex reached up to kiss you, you pulled away. “Alex-I-im sorry. we’re done. you fucked up. I can’t just let you get away with that. I’m so-so sorry. just go. don’t think about me. that would just be” you smiled sadly “that would just be easier”. he let out a sob and walked back to his car. he really did fuck up this time. you turned around taking a huge breath and exhailing. “Thomas I’m sorry-” “for what?” “I almost kissed him.” “but you didn’t, that’s enough. thank you.” “for what?” “for letting me love you.”

Jealousy is not cute. Madison has mentioned she wants to play a superhero. The perfect character of La Borinqueña has a chance of being live action and her name was brought up. The creator of the graphic novel series thinks she fits well and Rosario Dawson, who will direct La Borinqueña, also agrees. But some people wanted to sully the post about her as the beloved superhero on the comic book’s Instagram account.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is disrespectful to Madison. To say she is not a real Puerto Rican because she is from the states....Mind you, the CREATOR of the graphic novel is also a New Yorker. Also that she is not actually Afro Latina....Just because she does not have super dark skin and 4c hair does not make her any less Afro Latina! She physically fits the character to a T.
Madison is a skilled up and coming actress. She has shown she can carry a show and has a loyal following. She is already leagues ahead of other potential people who want the role. Don’t put someone down just because you can’t get what they have. It’s petty and childish.
Another thing, no one should be coming out their face about Lin Manuel Miranda. 1. Spell his name right if you are so hellbent on doing it. 2. He has done more for Puerto Rico and the visibility of our people than these haters I am sure.
There is more than one person’s view. To claim that you know better than the people behind a property is very presumptuous and entitled. It is clear that the creator of La Borinqueña cares deeply for the work and sees promise in Madison as the character. Do not belittle him by acting like you know more than him.
Okay, I’m done.

Jealousy
Pairing: Lin-Manuel Miranda x Reader
Warnings: Alcohol, Smut (NSFW), Jealousy, A bit of Public Smut but not much, language.
Prompt: “I bet you think you’re really cute letting them put their hands all over you. We’ll see how cute you look later when I get you home.” and “Look at you, I’ve only started using my fingers and you’re already shaking.”
A/N: This is my first smut so It’s probably not the best, but enjoy!
You were currently at the Oscars party with what it seemed like hundreds of celebrities and hundreds more of people who loved Lin and were trying to get his attention. This was supposed to be a night where Lin could hang out with you and take a break after being on stage 8 times a week, but it seemed like everything was keeping you two apart. It started with you walking in with Lin by your side, smiles on your faces, and he got dragged away almost immediately.
Now here you are, sitting at a bar, a bit tipsy, watching as women flirt with your husband a few yards away. Jealousy flowed through your veins and you chugged the last of your drink. Two can play this game.
“What’s a pretty lady like yourself doing alone here?” A tall man grabbed the stool next to you and sat down next to you. He was familiar, but your brain wasn’t focusing too much on it.
“Being too sober,” you replied, staring at your empty glass.
“Well, how about I get you another drink?”
“That would be nice,”
A few drinks later and you were on the dance floor, drunk, in another man’s arms and your husband still on your mind as you glanced at him. He still had women around him, all of them trying to grab his attention, but his eyes were on you, and he didn’t seem happy. You smirked and realized he was getting jealous. Perfect.
The man you were with was putting his hands on your back, occasionally moving them around your body. You didn’t feel anything for him, but this would be the way to get Lin to pay attention to you. You felt sober again, as you felt his eyes glaring daggers at the man and yourself. Suddenly, you felt a hand on your arm and you looked up to see Lin. He took you from the man and dragged you outside.
He wasn’t talking, his eyes wouldn’t even meet yours. You could tell he was extremely jealous by the way he was acting and the way his muscles were all tensed. He called up a cab and on the way there, he finally growled, his voice deep and strained, “I bet you think you’re really cute letting them put their hands all over you. We’ll see how cute you look later when I get you home.”
You felt his voice go straight to your core and you realized how much trouble you were about to be in. Your thighs suddenly squeezed together, trying to get some friction. You then felt Lin’s hand on your thigh, and looked up. His eyes were almost black, with a combination of lust and jealousy. His hand slowly went up your dress, to your undergarments, as he started tugging them down. You realized he was about to fuck you in the back of a taxi, or at least finger fuck you.
“Lin-” you quietly moan.
“Shh, you wouldn’t like to be heard now, would you?” he chuckled.
Two fingers were now inside you, and you were just trying not to make a noise. His fingers curled inside of you and you were seeing stars. You started to grind into his fingers, trying to get more friction, but he stopped, pulled his fingers out, and licked his fingers to get your wetness off of them. You frowned because you were very wet and close with no relief, but were slightly relieved because you wouldn’t get caught.
The taxi stopped and you realized the other reason why he didn’t let you finish. Needless to say you were probably not going to be able to walk tomorrow. Lin paid the driver and stepped outside with you on the side of him, trembling slightly.
As soon as you got inside, the door was closed and Lin pinned you to the door; his mouth against yours hungrily, his hands on every part of your body. His lips left yours as he grabbed your frame and brought you to the bedroom.
Next thing you knew, your clothing was all on the floor and his suit was still fully on.
His fingers were in you again and as he was finger fucking you his eyes met yours. His gaze was so desperate and lust filled; you felt the knot form quite quickly as you squirmed under his gaze. Your moans were filling the room and you were practically shaking at this point.
“Look at you, I’ve only started using my fingers and you’re already shaking.”
“Lin,” you moaned “I’m about to-”
“Not yet,” His fingers were still hammering into you and it was extremely difficult to hold back. Suddenly, his fingers were gone and you whined in protest.
You looked up to see Lin slowly undressing, just to make you watch patiently, knowing you could do nothing without getting a worse punishment. Your core was throbbing and there seemed to be no relief.
Finally he was undressed and he reached to the dresser to grab a condom. After putting it on, he slammed into you with no warning and your moans and screams filled the room again. Lin’s name was the only thing on your tongue, his mouth on your neck- leaving marks that will surely be visible for a while.
“You are mine, cariña. Mine.”
You came undone at his words, but he wasn’t finished yet. If anything, his thrusts became more intense. You were seeing white and could feel another knot quickly forming. After you came for a second time he filled his condom and started slowing down. He stopped and slowly pulled out, and exited the room to throw out the condom. He entered the room again and laid down next to you, his hands caressing your face.
“I didn’t hurt you did I?”
You shook your head tiredly.
He pulled you closer to him and gently rubbed your back. Your eyes slipped closed. Before you lost conscious you heard him say,
“I love you. So much. Damn, you have no idea what you do to me.”

Weekend Top Ten #440
Top Ten Songs in Hamilton
I’ve had to put up with hearing about how good Hamilton is for about five years. For a lot of that time it wasn’t even on in the UK; when it finally opened in London it cost a fortune and was booked up for months. So I was reconciled to probably not seeing it till it had a film version. Full marks to Disney, then, for spooging a wad of cash all over it to show an excellent filmed performance on Disney+ (yes, them again).
Anyway, now I’ve finally seen it, I’m like those other sad evangelists who just bang on all the bloody time about Lin-Manuel Miranda’s phenomenal wordplay, combining historical events with hip-hop, showtunes, and intense politicking. It really is a tremendous piece of work, and the cast in the Broadway performance on D+ are just belting it out of the park.
And of course I’m listening to the songs over and over. With this in mind, this weekend’s list is my favourite songs from the film/play/Spotify album/whatever. I’d love to see it on stage with different actors, but this is all drawn from the performances of that Broadway cast.
So let’s start reading like we’re running out of time…
Tumblr media
One Last Time: mythologising, sure, but it does a great job getting across the heroic notion of a leader voluntarily surrendering power in order to strengthen a nation after his death. A brilliant two-hander but Christopher Jackson’s performance is barnstorming.
The Room Where It Happens: as far as I’m concerned the show’s showstopper. Beautifully examining a political meeting that segues into Burr’s realisation that he can no longer wait for it. Plus it’s just a rollicking tune.
Satisfied: a funky inverted love song of unrequited feelings and a woman acknowledging her place in the world (“three fundamental truths”). The lyrics are fantastic, Renée Elise Goldsberry’s performance outstanding. Groovy, happy, and sad all at once.
Dear Theodosia: a beautiful and heartfelt duet that juxtaposes two fathers’ love for their respective babies to the birth of the new nation. The refrain “I thought I was so smart”, and Miranda’s delivery, breaks my heart.
I Know Him: I’m picking this one due to Jonathan Groff’s gleeful, malicious performance, but really it stands in for all of George III’s soliloquies. The spiteful tone of a jilted lover combined with the meanness of a school bully, shot through with hilarious verve.
My Shot: that rap, those lyrics; probably the first moment when Miranda’s combination of the tropes of hip-hop combine with Sorkin-esque descriptions of politics. Supreme wordplay, mythologising, and performance.
Non-Stop: contrasting Burr and Hamilton, with the former’s growing unease (jealousy?) towards Hamilton’s success and nature. But it’s the insight into Hamilton, racing death by writing like he’s running out of time, that provides a recurring theme.
Wait For It: one of Burr’s signature insightful songs, outlining his pragmatic point of view, but also reinforcing one of the play’s themes of destiny versus chaotic chance (“death doesn’t discriminate”).
Unimaginable: heartbreaking song about grief and loss, especially as the Hamiltons deal with it, becoming different people but finding solace together. Miranda’s performance is intensely sad, the “quiet up town” refrain even moreso.
Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story: Eliza (Phillipa Soo) has some terrific songs but is in many ways a reactive character, falling in love, being betrayed, being bereaved. So as she reclaims the narrative at the end, outlining her decades of accomplishments, it’s powerful and intensely moving; she’s arguably the most powerful person in the play, telling the stories of everyone else, memorialising them. Her enigmatic final gasp is a great closer too.
Well this was fun. A pity I couldn’t quite make room for one of Daveed Diggs’ big numbers. But I guess that’s the problem with Hamilton; it’s too damn good.

Forever Yours
Tumblr media
Pairing: Lin-Manuel Miranda x Reader
Warnings: Swearing, jealousy, best friends to lovers, arguing, fluff, dirty talk(?) and uh, smut lol
Words: 2,950 (yikes!)
-
For as long as you can remember, you and Lin-Manuel Miranda had been best friends practically ever since you two could walk. Ever since you could understand how the whole life thing was going to work out, you always went to Lin for everything. He was your rock, your whole world, you were in love with him for basically your whole life, but you had never acted on those feelings because you had always assumed that he only saw you as a friend. Spending time with him always made it feel as if nobody else in the world existed- it was always just you and him against the world, but thinking that he didn’t feel the same, you decided to try and move on with someone else.
It had been about a month since you had met this guy, David, and you had really begun to like him. Of course, nobody could ever be as good as Lin, but you really liked this guy. You and Lin were sitting on the couch in his living room, the two of you watching your favorite T.V. show together, your feet resting in his lap. Laughing at the same parts, you felt yourself beginning to stare at Lin, not meaning to, but you did it anyway, hoping he wouldn’t catch you in the act. Before he caught onto your staring, you decided to bring up David, just so you could get your mind off of the possibility of being with Lin.
“So, you know that guy David that I was telling you about?”
“The one you met in that really sketchy coffee shop?”
“It wasn’t sketchy, Lin, it was just… different.”
“Sketchy, but okay.”
You gave him a bit of a side eye at his tone of voice, noticing that his attitude changed immediately once you had brought up David.
“Anyway, I’ve been talking to him for about a month now, and we’ve gotten coffee and gone out for lunch a couple of times, and I actually like him a lot. He’s super sweet and funny, and it doesn’t hurt that he’s pretty good looking too. We have another date planned for tomorrow, and I- “
“Okay, [Y/N], I really don’t care to hear about this.”
You were taken aback by Lin’s quick and harsh comment. You had expected him to be happy for you. Happy that you had found someone, so it made you upset that he was talking to you like that.
“Um, okay? What the fuck, Lin? What’s wrong?”
“I just don’t feel like hearing about this David guy. You talk about him all the time. Can we just have one fucking night where it’s just us?”
“Lin-Manuel, I don’t know why you’re getting so pissy about this. I’m just trying to talk to you- my BEST FRIEND- about this.”
“Can we just move on? Jesus fucking Christ, [Y/N].”
“Fuck that, Lin! What’s your problem?!”
At this point, the two of you were both standing up, hands flying in anger, voices raising in rage, your face growing red as was his. You really didn’t understand why he was getting so mad about this.
“You wanna know what my ‘fucking problem’ is?”
“If it’ll get you to stop acting like an asshole, then yeah! You know, I don’t get you. You’ve been my best friend basically my whole life, and I really thought you’d be happy for me because I’ve actually found a good guy. Someone who is actually different from those other assholes I’ve dated, someone who actually CARES about the things I have to say. I really don’t understand why you’re being like thi- “
“BECAUSE I’M IN LOVE WITH YOU!”
Both of your chests were heaving with anger, but you felt your face soften and your body lost the tension that had built up over the past couple of minutes when you had realized what he had said. Your mouth hung open slightly as his words echoed through your head. Lin-Manuel Miranda, your best friend, the only one you have ever truly loved, was in love with you. Out of all people, he was in love with YOU.
“I’m in love with you.” He said in a softer voice, his breathing beginning to slow down.
“Lin, I…”
“Yeah, I know, you don’t feel the same. I’m just your best friend. Now I’ve fucked everything up, and now nothing is ever going to be the same, and you’re gonna keep dating that fucking David guy, and I’m never going to be able to know what it feels like just to hold you, but I don’t fucking care because I love you so much. I’ve loved you for so long, [Y/N], the fact that you probably don’t feel the same rips me apart, but I love you so much, I can’t- “
He began to ramble on, sadness and heartbreak beginning to drown his eyes. You couldn’t believe what you were hearing. You didn’t know what else to do, so you cut him off by clutching your fists into his t-shirt, and pulled his lips against your own, kissing him as if you were the last two people on Earth. At first, he didn’t respond, worried that you didn’t mean to be kissing him, but as he felt you relax, he melted into the kiss, moving his hands up to gently hold your face, his thumbs softly stroking your cheeks and jawline. When you both pulled away, both of you kept your eyes closed for a couple of seconds, just breathing in each other’s breaths, smiles spreading across both of your faces.
“You… you have no idea how long I’ve wanted to kiss you, [Y/N].”
“Me too, Lin. How about we not waste any more time then, yeah?”
Without another word, Lin pressed his lips back against yours, but there was more of a hunger to the kiss than the first one. Knowing that you felt the same way made his heart flip and made butterflies float through his stomach, and the same thing was happening to you. You let out a small moan against his lips as you felt his strong hands move down your back and grabbing onto your ass then underneath your thighs, you knew exactly what he was wanting you to do.
Wrapping your legs around his waist, you never once broke the kiss. The way his tongue touched and teased yours made bolts of arousal and electricity move down south, and you, with no doubt, knew that the same thing was happening for him, as you felt his hardness beginning to rub against you through his jeans. Feeling him against you as he carried you to his bedroom made you even wetter as you began to wonder how he would, soon, feel inside you.
He gently laid you down on his bed, treating you as if you were a delicate butterfly who needed to be treated with utmost care. Climbing on top of you, he put one leg in between yours, and you raised your hips to meet his, grinding against him to create friction. He felt you pushing against him, so he began to push back, matching your energy. Breaking the kiss, he pulled away to look you in your eyes, the look on his face making you blush as he looked at you as if you were the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. Adoration was written all over his face as he smiled down at you, the two of you getting lost in each other’s eyes.
“So beautiful…” He said barely above a whisper, almost as if he was talking to himself, like he couldn’t believe this was actually finally about to happen.
“And you are very handsome, Lin-Manuel.”
His smile grew even wider before he leaned down to kiss your neck, your breath catching in your throat as he lingered at the one spot that gave you goosebumps. His lips began traveling south, lingering at your chest as his hands went under your shirt, stroking your skin, further adding to your goosebumps and arousal as you sat up so he could remove your shirt, his eyes widening as they wondered your body. You saw him swallow hard as he began to run his hands down your side making you gasp. His touch was so gentle, smooth, so soft. Trailing his hands to your back, he found the clasp of your bra and unhooked it, throwing it in the same direction as your shirt, his mouth immediately latching onto one of your nipples, both of which were hardened in arousal.
Your ran your hand through his hair, tugging lightly, indicating to him that you were loving what he was doing, and that you wanted him to continue with his ministrations, then you felt that you were still wearing too many clothes, so you gently pulled back, moving to stand next to his bed as he sat against the headboard, palming himself through his jeans. You moved your hands under the waistband of your leggings, then you turned around, leaned over, and pulled them down your legs.
“Fuck, [Y/N]. You’re so… holy shit, baby…”
Whatever words he wanted to say were lost as he seemed to be completely blown away by your body. You’re usually pretty self-conscious about your body, but the way Lin was looking at you made you feel powerful and sexy, and it sent a chill down your spine, the flood between your legs becoming unbearable.
You moved back onto the bed, your legs straddling his as his hands rested on your lower back, his thumbs rubbing small circles along your skin. Hooking your arms around his neck, you sat on his lap, his erection rubbing against your clothed clit, making you throw your head back in arousal before you leaned back to look him in his deep brown eyes.
“I’ve wanted this for so long, Lin, you have no idea. I’m so in love with you, it’s crazy.”
“Me too, [Y/N]. I love you too. I love you so fucking much.”
Smiling at him, you leaned down and began kissing his neck, your lips trailing down his throat, making him gasp as you felt his pulse begin to quicken. Feeling his hands reach under his own shirt, you moved back so he could remove it, your eyes roaming his torso as he had done to you. His body was firm, chest tight and muscular, his stomach flat and his shoulders as muscular as you had imagined them to be. Slowly, you ran your hands down his body, your lips following the path before you reached his zipper where you quickly removed his shorts and boxers all at once, his hard cock standing at attention. You bit your lip as you eyed his size, and you noticed him smirking as he began to stroke himself, slowly. For some reason, you had always assumed that Lin was well endowed, and you were definitely right in your assumption.
“You’re so sexy, baby… I can’t wait- I need to fuck you now. I need to feel your warm, wet pussy around my cock. You’re so perfect for me, love.”
Before either of you continued on, he reached over to his nightstand and into one of the drawers. Triumphantly, he held up a condom, then unwrapped it, but you took it from him and wrapped it over his cock, stroking him a couple of times in the process, ‘cause fuck it, why not be a tease? He bit his lip as you held him, not that you needed to, he was hard enough, but you just wanted to feel him in your hand. Tantalizingly slow, you sunk down onto his dick, your finger tips gripping his shoulders as you took in every inch of him, the feeling of him filling and stretching you took your breath away.
Lin was in heaven, his head thrown back against the headboard as he was finally inside you. After wanting to be yours for so long, this was so much better than any of his fantasies. You were finally his, and he was yours, you were one, and he loved you so much. You began rocking your hips, and you knew it wouldn’t take much to get you to fall completely apart for him because he was hit that perfect spot inside you, the spot that made you see stars. Moans filled his bedroom, and it was the most beautiful thing either of you had ever heard. Like a symphony reaching the peak of a performance; the crescendo rising, rising, and rising.
“Fuuuuck, Lin! You feel so good, I’m gonna- oh my GOD! Fuckfuckfuck- “
“That’s it baby, cum for me. Shit, [Y/N], you feel so good around my dick. Cum for me, mi amor.”
Hearing him slip into Spanish pushed you over the edge as you clenched around his dick, him thrusting up into you in order to help you ride out your high. You screamed in pleasure at the top of it, and for a second, you forgot your own name. After a couple of seconds, you came down, back to Earth, back to Lin, who was holding you against him, softly stroking your hair as he felt you come down.
“That was the hottest fucking thing I have ever seen, holy shit. I could watch you cum for hours.”
You smiled, breathless, but satisfied. When you caught your breath, you kissed him then felt him flip you on your back.
“But now it’s my turn.”
He said with his lips brushing yours before he pushed back into you, his body incredibly close to yours, but you brought him closer by wrapping your legs around him, crossing your feet at the ankles. Lin was good- scratch that, AMAZING- in bed, and he definitely knew how to treat a woman, but because it was you, his passion was overwhelming in the best way possible. Never had you felt so loved and properly cared for while having sex with someone. The way he would kiss your neck, trailing his way back up to your lips where he would then run his tongue against yours, then bite your lip, making you shiver.
Lin’s thrusts began to quicken, growing faster, harder as he began chasing his finish, his hips rolling against yours, deliciously hitting your clit in the process, causing the sensation the build up again in your abdomen. His moans grew louder and louder as he closed his eyes, his muscular arms holding himself as you clutched his biceps, feeling him beginning to tense underneath your fingertips. Sweat was dotting his skin, his forehead and chest especially, and you knew it would take next to nothing to get him to cum.
“Oh my GOD, [Y/N], fuck baby- I’m gonna cum- Mmmm, you feel so fucking good, I can’t- “
“Cum for me, Lin.”
He opened his eyes and looked down at you, and the sight of you underneath him- sweat dotting your skin, hair sticking to your face from sweat, your breasts bouncing in time with his thrust- that made him let out the low moan you had been waiting for. You felt his hips stutter as he pumped his last few thrusts into you, cumming hard into the condom. As his hips thrusted into you for a few seconds longer, you came one last time as well, clenching around him again, prolonging his orgasm a few more seconds.
Both of you were breathing heavily, resting your foreheads against each other’s as you both smiled. Opening his eyes, he continued smiling before leaning down and capturing your lips in one last passionate kiss before pulling out, both of you hissing slightly at his withdrawal. He leaned over and disposed of the condom in the waste basket then he wrapped his arms around you, his heart lighting up as he finally was able to hold you like he always wanted to.
As the sweat on your body began to dry, you shivered, and Lin noticed, so he pulled the sheets over the two of you then put his arms back around your waist, his hands resting at your stomach as he planted small kisses to your neck and shoulders. You smiled then turned to face him when you noticed he was wearing a matching smile on his face- a smile of contentment, happiness, satisfaction. Placing your hand against his cheek, he grabbed onto it, then turned his head to kiss your palm, the gesture bringing tears of happiness to your eyes because it was so loving and so… well, Lin.
“So, can David do THAT?”
You laughed at his stupid comment then leaned up to kiss him again, both of you smiling against each other.
“No, he can’t… I love you, Lin-Manuel. I’ve loved you for so long, I’m so glad I finally get to call you mine. I think you’re like my soul mate or something. Whatever it is, I think we were meant to be together.”
“I feel the same way, [Y/N]. I love you soooooo much, mi amor. More than I’ve ever loved anyone. I swear, I’ve loved you for as long as I can remember, and I promise that I’ll keep loving you for as long as I live- hell even after I’m gone, I’ll still love you. You’re everything to me. I love you.”
He kissed you again, then you laid your head down against his chest as he wrapped his arms around you, pulling you close, holding you tight. You drifted off and surrendered into the arms of sleep as you felt him plant one last kiss on your forehead. Lin-Manuel Miranda was finally yours, and you were finally his.

My ideal Star Wars movie, as decided yesterday while crawling toward five o’clock at work:
I’ll be casting a huge handful of my faves. I’m sure they’ll all be very on board just as soon as they’ve heard my pitch. It’s going to be a gorgeous adventure.
So we’ve got Our Heroes: a stars-in-her-eyes Jedi history buff, played by the glorious Tessa Thompson, and her childhood best friend—mouthy and jaded and utterly uninterested in hokey religions Gina Rodriguez. They’ve never been off-planet, though Gina spends most of her time inspecting star charts for The Inevitable Day when she’s finally able to kick the giant-cow-alien herding lifestyle for a world of Wonder and Glory. Tessa is on board for the adventure of a lifetime, just so long as she’s allowed to visit all the places Jedi once roamed (old temples, battlegrounds, Places Luke Skywalker Once Sneezed—the whole drill).
Everything changes when the fire nation attacks when Tessa’s brother (played by Michael B. Jordan)—who has recently gone off-world for the first time to join the Honor Guard of the Galaxy (the new-age rebel faction)—gets a missive out requesting aid. They’ve been trapped! They need a calvary! Their home planet was the only one within messaging range! Who cares, details, all you need is a spark, etc.
Tessa easily convinces Gina it’s time to go, with one small problem—we lack a ship! Every first Star Wars needs a good cantina sequence, so off we go to find the one and only bar on this Planet of Chill Shepherds, where we will meet our fabulous crew of Space Pirates, starring:
Lupine Nyong’o as the charming Force-sensitive captain, because I am personally insulted they put her in a Star Wars movie and didn’t let us see her face
Kristen Stewart as the James Dean fighter pilot, because let’s be honest, Kristen Stewart isn’t playing enough characters that let her wear leather jackets, drop one-liners, and flirt with ladies
Ellen Page as the scrappy weapons specialist with the softest of squishy hearts, who has been low-key in love with Kristen since they picked her out of a bar brawl on a planet far far away (but as they’re Too Close, would never admit it)
Off we go on a glorious rescue mission (act 1) culminating in coming Face to Face with the resident Big Bad of the new Empire-figure—Emma Thompson, who is granted the most luxurious cloak she could possibly desire and full rights to her own makeup (does she want to be aristocratic? Darth Maul scary? wear a Chewbacca mask? Emma Thompson gets what Emma Thompson wants). She is, at all times, flanked by her Left Hand (a terrifyingly speedy lightsaber master played by Anna Kendrick, because my life is incomplete without Anna Kendrick getting solid fight scenes for no reason at all) and her Right Hand (Keira Knightley, an expert tactician who has been nursing Secret Second Thoughts about this whole ruling the galaxy situation for a hot minute now).
A brief battle ensues, with Tessa narrowly escaping a Harrowing Attack thanks to the Force (she will be VERY excited about this later, which will annoy Gina to no end, and delight the shit out of Lupita). They manage to reach the Honor Guard team, which currently consists of Michael (insert adorable sibling reunion here), Gemma Chan, and Jamie Chung. Madcap spaceship escape takes place, and everyone rejoices until—drumroll—Nyong’o discovers A STOWAWAY in the form of Knightley.
Important features for the rest of the series:
Keira has a Zuko-esque Road to Redemption arc, which is far more palatable as A) they do not give her an easy time of it, and B) she hasn’t actually murdered anyone or been jazzed about helping Emma all this time (“Keira! I am your MOTHER!” can come at the end of film 1 or in film 2, depending on highest emotional heartstring likelihood—perhaps not a surprise so much as Pure Rage on Emma’s part)
After an appropriate amount of groveling/distrust/helping save their lives, she sloooowly breaks down Tessa’s barriers. A love story for the ages, because there’s no, like…rampant manipulation and abuse.
Gina finds herself falling for Badass Captain Lupita, because who wouldn’t, but also UGH SHE’S INTO THIS FORCE SHIT HAVEN’T I ALREADY SUFFERED ENOUGH
Ellen and Kristen slow-burn full of longing looks and pangs of jealousy as Kristen is learning not to flirt with everyone who crosses her path. Bonus points for a Steamy Patch-Up sequence after Ellen is injured saving all their asses somehow (probably in film 2).
We all end up back on Shepherd planet for a brief refuel, including a pleasant dinner with Gina’s uncle (Lin Manuel Miranda) and his husband (Manny Jacinto)—until UH OH the Baddies are setting off our Invisible Alien-Cow-Keeping Fence Alarms, you have to all go NOW (there’s a lovely underground tunnel for just such an escape because….black-market cow feed reasons)
A terribly brief, but utterly delightful sequence in which Anna Kendrick With The Loosest Hold On Her Temper Imaginable contends with Lin and Manny’s neighbor, Chris Evans, going out of his way to be sweet as pie and as distracting as humanly possible. If any other straight white boys exist in this trilogy, I have not yet cast them, but I suspect they will largely get to be aliens and droids, because…it’s their turn.
Thandie Newton as the Head of the Honor Guard, because god-dammit, she did not get enough screen-time in Solo.
Many many badass battles, one of the Most Hardcore of which is Ellen Page v. Anna Kendrick (Smol v. Smol, lightsaber duel—have not decided who wins or at what point, but this is likely what triggers the Steamy Patch-Up scene.
Much work left to do on fleshing out, and a whole host of casting to determine (I love a good callback, so we may perchance see Oscar Isaac, John Boyega, and Daisy Ridley back for a cameo; also would love to get Mahershala Ali in as perhaps Thandie’s own Right-Hand badass), but I think we have a really promising start to a film series that would infuriate those who believe Women Ruined Star Wars, and garner a stupid amount of money from everyone else. I’ll be sure to keep the world posted on Disney’s incoming offer.

@tuptaju, @kilerya and I got started talking about what would happen if the US did its own version of the Eurovision Song Contest - the USC (United States Song Contest - it should be the USSC, but that would make too much sense) - out of jealousy because we’re not allowed to compete in the ESC. (”We’ll make our OWN version and it’ll be BETTER ANYWAY!”)
Ellen DeGeneres and Lin-Manuel Miranda host it. LMM would love to represent Puerto Rico, but PR, Guam, the Philippines, and the District of Columbia are not allowed to compete. This causes constant controversy, especially with D.C., whose citizens are allowed to vote but not send an act. Every year, the D.C. residents dress up like Revolutionary War patriots and protest.
Texas is disqualified. Every. Single. Year. Because the USC carried over the “No Political Content” rule from the ESC, and Every Single Year Texas either sends an explicitly political song or their act does something like yell, “FUCK THE COMMIE LIBERALS!” at the end of their song. v__v Everyone who lives in Austin wants to tear their hair out in frustration.
New York and California fight constantly for the #1 spot every year. Spots 3-5 almost always go to Illinois, Michigan, and Georgia in some order, though sometimes another state will grab that #5 spot.
No one ever votes for Ohio.
New Jersey always looks at what won last year and tries to do something very like that for their act. Everyone knows NJ’s just copying, but no one really cares, ‘cause it’s NJ. NJ just wants to beat NY, but that’s kind of hard when everyone in NJ votes for NY. (Because you can’t vote for your own state.)
Washington and Oregon vote for each other.
The entire South usually votes for the same act (usually Georgia because of Atlanta, but sometimes Tennessee pulls an upset). Voting for NY or CA if you live in the South usually gets you some heat, but if you vote for Illinois, you are sure to be shunned by friends and possibly family (because everyone knows Chicago stole Jazz from the South). Voting for Michigan is legit though, depending on what they submit.
The Plains states put forth a lot of old-style country & western or folk songs. Colorado does something different every year: C&W one year, alternative the next, hipster pop the year after that. They do better than Ohio, but that’s not saying much, considering Ohio’s basically the permanent basement (of the qualifying acts).
The Midwest splits between Illinois and Michigan. Indiana usually goes to Michigan because they hate Illinois. Michigan votes for Illinois just to piss off Indiana. Illinois votes for Michigan only because it can't vote for itself. Kentucky and Tennessee vote for each other or Michigan, and no one votes for Ohio.
Oh, and Missouri votes for either Illinois or Tennessee. Or it goes with the South. No one's really quite sure with Missouri.
Maine, Florida, Hawai’i, and Alaska actually get the spirit of the contest. Maine dresses up as moose sometimes. Florida sends acts dressed up as Gators, Palm Trees, and Little Old Ladies. One year, they dress up as Suspiciously Familiar Mice and get disqualified when Disney threatens to sue.
Mississippi gets disqualified one year when their all-white act performs normally in the semi-final and then shows up in blackface for the finals. For the next few years, they decline to participate, huffing about how the contest is “rigged” for the “liberals,” but everyone knows it’s because they’re too broke.
EVERYONE VOTES. Accusations of voter fraud are widespread and generally unfounded. When California wins the very first year, there is a widespread right-wing conspiracy theory that Canadians and Mexicans are voting illegally and throwing the contest. (Illegals stealing our song contest!) After an in-depth investigation lasting two years, it is categorically proven that no Canadians or Mexicans voted in the contest. It doesn’t stop the conspiracy theorists.
The first year, the trophy looks a little too much like the ESC trophy. The next year, the trophy looks like a more modern microphone. Everyone watching the broadcast starts making comments about, “Yeah, sure, it’s a ‘microphone’... that’s waterproof, has three vibrate settings, and comes with personal lubricant.” (From @tuptaju: “The winner must be extremely pleased.”) From that year on, the trophy is a standard winner’s cup with music notes on it.
One year, Australia is inexplicably allowed to compete. They almost win* and are never invited back.
*they should have won according to actual legal votes cast. This is the one year that calls of voter fraud are few and far between, and no investigation is conducted. Strange.
The year after the Australia Incident, Georgia abruptly wins in a landslide out of a patriotic backlash. (It would have been Texas, but... well, it's TEXAS and they were disqualified again.)

In The Heights
Tumblr media
I was living in New York the summer that Hamilton seemed to really take off. In fact, my first few nights in NYC I could see the Hamilton Markee from my hotel window. I fell hard for Lin Manuel Miranda’s work as soon as I heard the opening song to Hamilton, and I never looked back. When Mark, the artistic director for the Rep, announced last spring that In The Heights would be our fall musical I audibly gasped, much to the upset of my boyfriend. I had been looking forward to this show since I heard about it happening, and several months later it did not disappoint.
The set is simple: a bodega with a balcony above, two slices of larger building flank either side and large open space painted like a road in front ready for dancing awaits. It truly feels like a little slice of Washington Heights was delivered to Milwaukee. The light above feel like the sun and as the show goes on there is an incredible display of lighting genius, taking us from midday to smokey bar to outside under the fireworks.
In The Heights features a massive ensemble to compliment the outstanding main cast. The dancing in this show will make your legs ache with jealousy. Everyone seems to be dancing hard, dancing stronger with every song, the precision of their moves makes the choreography so visceral to watch.
Ryan Alvarado is a spitting image of Lin Manuel Miranda. He is more than an amazing mimic, he truly captures the spirit of all of Lin’s leading men; passionate, young blooded, and just a little bit lovesick. His love interest Vanessa, played by Stephanie Gomérez, is another amazingly youthful and vibrant performer. Yassmin Alers stuns in her role as Abuela Claudia, which left me humming “Paciencia Y Fe” from weeks after. The parental roles of Kevin and Camila, played by Karmine Alers and Tony Chiroldes respectively, are powerful and confident. Seriously, Tony made me cry multiple times during this show, there is some powerful Dad Energy radiating off of this guy. All of this goes without mentioning Lillian Castillo, Nicolas Garza, Henry Gainza, Alyssa V. Gomez, Sophia Macías, David Kaverman, or the hilarious UJ Mangune who all gave stunning performances as well.
In The Heights is a love letter to life at it worst trying to get better. It’s a snapshot of a time in all of our lives where everything changes, some for the better and some for the worst, but all at once.  It’s a seriously good show, and it runs now through October 28th. For more information including tickets, visit the Rep’s page here.
Until the next show,
A.

Glen Coco’s Top 10 Films of 2021
Tumblr media
Consistent with the chaotic times in which we find ourselves, the film landscape has become a complete mess. Release dates are tentative, films premier at home the same day as in theaters (or four months later) and the particular streaming service where they arrive is anyone’s guess. But, amidst the logistical tumult, filmmakers continue to craft some great motion pictures. I don’t like preambles as much as I used to, so I’ll just get on with my top 10 films of 2021...after the runners-up and the standard bonus track...there’s always a bonus track.
RUNNERS-UP
-C’mon C’mon
-CODA
-Don’t Look Up
-Licorice Pizza
-A Quiet Place Part II (Full Review)
#10b. (Bonus Track) Nightmare Alley
Director: Guillermo del Toro
Starring: Bradley Cooper, Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara, Toni Collette, Richard Jenkins, Willem Dafoe
Tumblr media
Missing out on the official Top 10 list for departing from the astonishing carnival setting too soon and dragging a bit in the second act, Nightmare Alley still deserves mentioning for its impeccable production design. Even when writer-director Guillermo del Toro’s scripts fall short, he makes up for it with stunning visual storytelling, exemplified here with richly detailed and colourful images of a 1930s carnival, contradicted later in the film by gorgeous art deco designs of city buildings. With a brilliant cast led by Bradley Cooper, del Toro maintains a disturbingly eerie atmosphere throughout despite eschewing his signature fantasy elements, producing a chilling, if imperfect, film noir that takes the viewer through dark corridors (figurative and literal) while examining the worst impulses of human nature.
#10. Tick, Tick... Boom!
Director: Lin-Manuel Miranda
Starring: Andrew Garfield
Tumblr media
If conquering Broadway while also acting in and composing music for films wasn’t enough, Lin-Manuel Miranda has now made Tick, Tick... Boom! and you’d never guess it was his directorial debut. The film stars Andrew Garfield as Jonathan Larson, the playwright and composer of the smash hit Rent who sadly died the night before its off-Broadway premier. The film jumps back and forth between 1992, in which Larson performs the titular rock monologue that Miranda uses as a storytelling device, and 1990, in which the exhausted artist prepares for the workshop of his passion project Superbia, works at a diner, tries to maintain a relationship and strives desperately to be successful before turning 30. The movie’s seemingly unending action involving constant movement between time periods and within space, with no shortage of singing and dancing, might feel a tad busy, yet it perfectly captures that relentless creativity, passion and even frustration of the ‘starving artist’. Garfield is nothing if not a passionate performer and he sells every moment of both Larson’s mental anguish as well as elation with every fiber of his being. This is truly a whirlwind of a film.
#9. The Power of the Dog
Director: Jane Campion
Starring: Benedict Cumberbatch, Kirsten Dunst, Jesse Plemons, Kodi Smit-McPhee
Tumblr media
The great Jane Campion’s latest film is a western, to be sure, but instead of celebrating the genre’s classic traits, she scrutinizes them while shrewdly subverting the genre in the process. By telling a story about a miserable ranch owner who torments his brother’s new wife and her effeminate son, she critiques the idea of toxic masculinity and its harmful effects on, not just the targets of this behaviour, but the toxic individual himself. This film is a masterclass in subtlety, with a script that reveals its complex characters, their motivations and the various, often shocking, plot developments without spelling it out for the audience. A smart viewer will understand how, for example, a character’s repressed homosexuality can lead to isolation, jealousy, resentment and ultimately the exacerbation of toxic behaviour. This psychological thriller is set amidst Ari Wegner’s gorgeous shots of the New Zealand countryside filling in for 1920s Montana and the brilliant Jonny Greenwood’s appropriately disturbing score that compliments a character dynamic already brimming with tension.
#8. The Last Duel
Director: Ridley Scott
Starring: Matt Damon, Adam Driver, Jodie Comer, Ben Affleck
Tumblr media
Let’s just get this out of the way: casting famous American actors as French knights using quasi-British accents is an odd choice but nowhere near unprecedented. Yes, it sounds strange at first, but you’ll quickly forget it as you’re swept away in the engrossing social commentary set during the middle ages. Yet, even if this is a time long passed, the themes are sadly still relevant as we’re given three different perspectives of what may or may not be the rape of a young woman. We see some events multiple times, but it never feels monotonous and some parts are different enough that we reevaluate how we feel about the situation and characters, one of whom shifts from a man of honour to a dirt bag right before our eyes. Accents aside, the acting is superb and includes a surprising turn from Affleck who’s a riot as the corrupt and debaucherous Pierre d’Alencon. Ridley Scott’s been inconsistent for a while, but he knows how to put a great historical epic on screen which he does here with grandiose sets and costumes, not to mention the titular last duel forming the film’s climax which is expertly staged and unapologetically brutal.
#7. King Richard
Director: Reinaldo Marcus Green
Starring: Will Smith, Saniyya Sidney, Demi Singleton, Aunjanue Ellis
Tumblr media
Will Smith has been in so many mediocre films that you might forget he’s a great actor. He gives possibly his best performance to date in King Richard as the father and coach of the young girls who will become two of the greatest tennis players ever: Venus and Serena Williams. With the help of director Reinaldo Marcus Green and writer Zach Baylin, Smith vanishes into this character who he portrays as a complex human being, by turns an honourable, nurturing father and a stubborn, sometimes selfish, old man. But, that’s what elevates what could’ve been a cookie-cutter biopic to an insightful character study and a great example of what a sports movie can achieve with powerful performances, excellent pacing and honest dialogue that doesn’t pander. Some have criticized the film for focusing on the male behind two female athletes’ success, but if it means providing a rare layered and positive portrayal of an African-American father then it’s a sound compromise. That said, the film doesn’t forget about the sisters nor their incredibly supportive mother, all played by excellent actors who make us root for this family whose members consistently excel despite so much working against them.
#6. Spider-Man: No Way Home
Director: Jon Watts
Starring: Tom Holland, Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Marisa Tomei
Tumblr media
On paper, this film might seem like gimmicky fan service, but to believe that would be to underestimate Marvel Studios. Even if you’re wary of the corporate franchise film model, you have to give credit to this company; No Way Home is the 27th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, yet it’s still wildly entertaining, surprising and charming while continuing to connect to the other films in the franchise. Equally impressive is how a movie with so many characters and twists (no spoilers!) can maintain such a high level of coherence and a strong focus on character. In fact, despite all the moving pieces, this is actually one of the more poignant films in the series with huge emotional stakes. Director Jon Watts and writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers handle some very emotional scenes with tact, allowing them room to breath and time to sink in. They also show a willingness to take risks, a rare practice in this genre. Altogether, the film offers a perfect opportunity to get cozy, pig out on popcorn and escape reality for a few hours. Lord knows we could all use that!
#5. The Card Counter
Director: Paul Schrader
Starring: Oscar Isaac, Tiffany Haddish, Tye Sheridan, Willem Dafoe
Tumblr media
Paul Schrader’s 2018 masterpiece First Reformed was overlooked by both audiences and awards voters and the same is true for The Card Counter. The writer-director excels at telling stories about deeply flawed and tortured men (Robert De Niro in Taxi Driver; Ethan Hawke in First Reformed) and he does so again with the exceptional Oscar Isaac who gives such a measured, disciplined performance, not just at times when he’s quiet and withdrawn but also during intense moments when he becomes a scary force of nature. Due to his controversial military past, a young man seeks his help with a plan to torture and kill a former army major who was known for his horrific interrogation methods. These are shown in flashbacks that feel more like nightmares; we view the acts through ultra-wide ‘fish eye’ lenses and hear pounding heavy metal music. As usual, Schrader peals back the layers of the story gradually and amps up the tension to an almost unbearable level. But, most importantly, he earns our complete investment in Isaac’s character and whether he’ll maintain his current situation as a successful gambler, sparing himself and the boy from a life of violence, or be an accomplice to a brutal act of revenge.
#4. Dune
Director: Denis Villeneuve
Starring: Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Zendaya, Stellan Skarsgard, Josh Brolin
Tumblr media
Leave it to Denis Villeneuve, named director of the decade by the Hollywood Critics Association, to take a novel that many have called unfilmable--the awful ‘80s adaptation strengthening that argument--and make his version an aw-inspiring spectacle and indeed one of the best films of 2021. Unlike the original that loses you with a data dump in the first five minutes, the new version introduces you to this world and all its elements gradually and with a variety of strategic methods. It also helps that a handful of some of the greatest actors in Hollywood have assembled to lend their talent and credibility to this project with the prodigious Timothee Chalamet in the lead role. Most impressive, however, are the wondrous visuals; despite working with a seemingly baron dessert setting, Villeneuve brings it to life with gargantuan space ships, labyrinthine structures, giant deadly sand worms and various factions of people with elaborate weapons and armour. Thankfully, the wide shots and lingering camera allow us to marvel at these images instead of taking them for granted. Dune is a prime example of what a blockbuster epic can be when craft and imagination take precedence. *Note: Could’ve used more sand worm.
(Full Review)
#3. The Tragedy of Macbeth
Director: Joel Coen
Starring: Denzel Washington, Frances McDormand
Tumblr media
William Shakespeare’s plays have been adapted countless times but rarely are they so striking and brimming with creativity. This is Joel Coen’s first film without his longtime collaborator and brother Ethan and he eschews their trademark dark humour while maintaining his mastery of the craft, making one pitch perfect decision after another. The most obvious one is casting Denzel Washington in the lead role, a subversive choice but the right one. The actor, who the New York Times critics named the best of the 21st century, works his magic, changing convincingly from a loyal and weary soldier to a murderous, power-hungry madman due to the ramblings of three witches and the coaxing of his conniving wife played by the peerless Frances McDormand. Coen shot this gem entirely on a sound stage with the final product at once feeling like a theater production yet utterly cinematic. This is done with the help of cinematographer Bruno Delbonnel, exploiting shadow, fog effects and black & white gloriously, enhancing the story’s suspenseful, occasionally nightmarish atmosphere. These elements combined with very simple yet effective angular stone sets produce a sort of otherworldly feel appropriate for this supernatural tale.
#2. West Side Story
Director: Steven Spielberg
Starring: Ansel Elgort, Rachel Zegler, Ariana DeBose, David Alvarez
Tumblr media
Often when we think of someone like Steven Spielberg, an institution in film for decades, we take them for granted, forgetting how great they really are. I was not excited to see West Side Story, the second film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical. Maybe it’s because I saw another New York-based musical In the Heights earlier in the year or because the film lacks big names or because the idea of dance-fighting confuses me. Whatever the reason, it was quickly forgotten as I was being taken away by the true spectacle that Spielberg put on screen. Believe it or not, this is his first musical, yet he takes an otherwise chaotic series of events and dance numbers and makes it all completely comprehensible. The love story’s charming and the performances are great, but what he does with the routines is pure visual poetry, completely vibrant and full of energy. Even static, dialogue-heavy scenes are filmed with a sharpness that gives the movie a fantastical quality. The film’s highlight is a beautifully choreographed scene set at a dance in a gymnasium, involving virtually the whole cast plus extras. It starts with a continuous steadicam shot that seamlessly transitions to a cable cam shot as the gym doors open that brings us up into the air, providing a birds’ eye view of the the action before plunging us back down into the sea of dancers. It’s a wonder to behold.
#1. Spencer
Director: Pablo Larrain
Starring: Kristen Stewart
Tumblr media
It’s appropriate that the late Princess Diana, née Spencer, is played by Kristen Stewart. Both women are shy, beautiful, talented, anxious, liked by many, ridiculed by many more, in the news for the wrong reasons. But if you’re expecting a standard biopic about this complex figure or stringent historical accuracy, look elsewhere. Pablo Larrain’s transcendent work of mostly fiction is too ambitious, unique and mesmerizing for the typical formulaic, decades-spanning account. Instead, it’s set over three days beginning on Christmas Eve at the Queen’s Sandringham estate during a turbulent point in Diana’s marriage. We’re shown how isolated and anxious she felt at the time, stuck in a remote house with cold, unloving in-laws, her only friend the Royal Dresser, Maggie, played by Sally Hawkins. We’re given an intimate look inside the tortured mind of Diana whose experiences are so surreal at times that it’s hard to discern between hallucination and reality in this psychological thriller that’s arguably a horror story; with the brilliant Jonny Greenwood’s sinister score, it definitely sounds like one. At the center of the horror is Kristen Stewart, giving the best performance of her underrated career, capturing Diana’s distinct mannerisms and vocal traits while easily gaining our sympathy. Perhaps the most satisfying part of the film is its final sequence, a deeply moving denouement that allows Diana to break free and enjoy a sense of liberation, a happy ending gifted to Diana the character but one that Diana the human being sadly never received.

I just checked my moon phase tracker and it’s a full moon! I heard that there’d be a total eclipse but Idk if it’s tonight.
Either way! Feed your werewolves and tell them that they’re a good boy/girl/they, cuddle them, make sure they’re happy, take care of yourself, charge your crystals and moonwater, eat a yummy snack, take a warm, bubbly bath, get lots of rest, tell those you love you love them, play your favorite game, watch your favorite video, movie, show, or anime, and take things easy. I heard that a planet was coming into retrogade, so take things easy for that, too. Happy howling!

So y’all know how Garrett is a patriot and is as American as apple pie? Well, tomorrow’s Fourth of July, so I imagine that he’s gonna be pretty fuckin hype for the holiday.

So I watched s2 of Centaurworld. All I gotta say is…oh my gods.
(Spoilers!! For your safety, don’t read this until you’ve watched the whole season. Thank youu! Enjoy!)
Starting off, I’d just like to say that this season was a lot better than I thought. From the backstories to the new characters(especially the Nowhere King before he was a terrifying being of ink and revenge) and even the songs really tied it all together.
My favorite song out of the whole season is the song they sung at the Hootenany. It gave me legit goosebumps, and to me, it’s one of the greatest motivational songs I’ve ever heard. That, and Becky Apples. That was a bop.
The Nowhere King’s backstory was very compelling. It was interesting to know what his motives were and how he became such a terrifying beast.
This season also had a lotta good symbolism and themes. Unrequited love, jealousy, forgetting your worth, all of which are themes that are important in life. Unrequited love can lead to jealousy and desperateness, and it lead to the Nowhere king’s transformation and downfall.
I like how they showed the parallels between Rider and Horse and how they’re preparing for the big war. Seeing the centaurs and the general and his army come fight all Infinity War Style was hella cool to me.
The General’s betrayal had me in shock. The foreshadowing in the Nowhere King’s memories and backstory gave clues of what was to come. And yes, I did cry when Rider was stabbed.
All and all, I loved this season, and though it makes me sad that it’s over, I’m still glad I got to see it in all it’s glory.

I Put Salt in my Tea Tonight Y'all
Mmmmghhghgh ok.(Spoilers for Suitor Armor. If you haven't read it yet, read it and come back so you can share my annoyance.)
Now I don't know what got into Norrix to scream at Lucia like that, but it irked me. Okay, I get it you're mad but don't take it out on the pretty fae lady! I don't think this Alexander Hamilton, Dude from In the Heights, Lin Manuel Miranda looking motherfucker thinks he's talking to, but Lucia is technically royalty, so boy-boy better watch his damn tone. I felt bad for both Lucia and Modeus mainly cos Modeus was just acting out in self-defense and who wouldn't? You'd wanna protect a magical fairy deer from hunters if you were in her shoes! Or..her hooves. But either way, Norrix needs to calm down and Lucia and Modeus deserve better. Case closed. Goodnight bitches.

OH MY FACKIN GODS
Tonight’s recent chapter of Suitor Armor was fucking beautiful and yes I’m ranting about it. If you haven’t read it yet, go read it and come back. Trust me you’ll love it.
Words can not describe how much this chapter gave me seretonin. From Lucia’s wings to her interaction with Lazali, it just made me really happy! And the dress Lucia made her was really cute UwU.
I seriously hope Modeus doesn’t do anything to hurt her in the next chapter. I’m willing to throw hands for Lucia. Ik I said words can’t describe how much I love this story but AKDJWOREKOWJRMRKE as you can see I can’t lol.
All and all, this chapter was beautiful, I love this story, and I will never stop reading it ever. I also have a feeling that in later chapters I will cry. Probably for an hour.
But for real, if you haven’t read this yet, please do, it’s an amazing story! If I loved it, you will! Happy reading!~
