ok so last night I had a stressful dream where I was buying late christmas presents for people and so was my mom and a gift that my mom gave to me to give to a classmate on her behalf was a set of plates with Lin Manuel Miranda's signature engraved on them big in the center. and when I pulled them out of the box (and there were a FUCKTON of them) they were this brown glazed terracotta color material and Lin Manuel Miranda's signature was not a squiggle or a line, but a series of uniform DOTS. like CLEARLY UNIFORM AND DELIBERATE. and they'd been poked into the plate so that the dots were like raised? so im looking at them with this girl and we're shitting on this signature and how much of a hassle cleaning and eating on these plates must be with their raised bumps all over the surface and also. just shitting on his signature because thats fucking insane??? a signature made up of dots??? like carefully aligned dots??? Cause, and maybe I’ve misjudged this, but Mr. Miranda, with all his Puerto Rican pride, and his extreme excitement over new cool art, seems like the kind of person who upon finding out this new thing is taking off would have been shouting it from rooftops. I mean, right?

Maybe he’s trying to stay out of line light for the moment to have a private life, maybe he doesn’t want to overshadow a new artist with his voice by stepping into the conversation, or maybe he had months of shouting and I completely missed it (I have been known to periodically hide under a rock for my mental health, it is possible for me to miss major nerdom news from time to time).

All I’m saying is-

If no one’s told him yet, someone needs to introduce this man to Epic the Musical. Because he would be so fricken excited.

And honestly that would be enough, just to bring that wonderful artist more artist joy, BUT… if we’re really lucky a reaction gets leaked like Hamilton Polka and we get to see it.

Lin-Manuel Miranda is not untalented but he shouldn't be making billion dollar disney movies or whatever. This guy should be in a garage making deeply earnest but unpolished rap opera concept albums and posting them online for a niche fanbase of no more than 100,000 too-online theatre nerds. Hiring him to make forgettable paint-by-numbers radio friendly disney princess pop is trying to raise devil's pupfish in captivity. You have to stop giving him money and let him go make cringe in his natural habitat or you're never going to get anything good.
